  Hi, I'm looking to do some basic encryption of server messages which'd be encrypted with C++ and decrypted using Python serverside. I was wondering if anyone knew if there were good solutions that were simpler or more lightweight than Keyczar. I see that supports both C++ and python, but would using Crypto++ and PyCrypto be simpler for a newbie that just wants to get something up and running for the time being? Or should I use Keyczar for python and Crypto++ for the C++ end? The C++ libraries seem to have dependencies to hundreds of files.

• PHP: how to stop ignore_user_abort, is it a good solution for long run program

  let say i have send email program which need to run arround 7 hours. but i cant open the browser for 7 hours beside cronjob, ignore_user_abort() will it be a solution? will the script stop when all email has sent and the program has finish the loop? or it will keep eating the server memory? some people said u may need to add some output at the end of the program to avoid the program run forever? and some people also said echo a litte bit string will not stop the script, but has to use ob_flush, any example for this?

  Let's say I'm writing a simple luck game - each player presses Enter and the game assign him a random number between 1-6. Just like a cube. At the end of the game, the player with the highest number wins. Now, let's say I'm a cheater. I want to write the game so player #1 (which will be me) has a probability of 90% to get six, and 2% to get each of the rest numbers (1, 2, 3, 4, 5). So, how can I generate a number random, and set the probability for each number? Thanks.

  I'm writing a Service, a Content Provider, and one or more apps. The Service writes new data to the Content Provider's SQLite database every 5 minutes or so plus at user input, and is intended to run pretty much forever in the background. The app, when running, will display data pulled from the Content Provider, and will be refreshed whenever the Service puts more data into the Content Provider's database. Given that the Service only inserts into the database once every five minutes, when is the right time to call SQLiteOpenHelper's getWritableDatabase() / getReadableDatabase()? Is it on the onCreate() of the Content Provider, or should I run it every time there is an insert() and close it at the end of insert()? The data being inserted every 5 minutes will contain multiple inserts.

• .NET Decimal = what in SQL?

  What's the best data type in SQL to represent Decimal in .NET? We want to store decimal numbers with up to 9 decimal place precision and want to avoid rounding errors etc on the front end. Reading about data types, it appears using Decimal in .NET is the best option because you will not get rounding errors, although it is a bit slower than a Double. We want to carry this through down to the DB and want minimum conversion issues when moving data through the layers. Any suggestions?

  Sorry for the newbie question, but I have the following query that groups parking spaces by their garage, but I can't figure out how to iterate the data in the view. I guess I should strongly type the view but am a newbie and having lots of problems figuring this out. Any help would be appreciated.   Hello Friends, i tryed to install the new beta on my system with the command: sudo gem install rails --pre but no matter what i tryed, i still get this damn error: Successfully installed rails-3.0.0.beta3 1 gem installed Installing ri documentation for rails-3.0.0.beta3... File not found: lib Since im very very new to ruby, i really don't know what to do. How can i finish installing this? Is this installed already? Why does it abort here? I'm at the end for today. • Building elf within Eclipse within Windows

  Hey guys, I'm having trouble building an Elf file within Eclipse within Windows. It seems that everytime I build, a PE / portable executable for windows is created. I've gone into the Binary Parser section and checked Elf Parser while making sure that everything else is unchecked. However, I continue to end up with a PE which I cannot run on Linux. For clarification, I'm using the Linux GCC toolchain within Eclipse. I've attempted a reinstall of Cygwin -- still experiencing the same issues. Any ideas? Thanks

• Determing Python version at runtime

  The problem I'm having is that I've written code that depends on features in python2.6 so I'm trying to build a check that will produce a useful error if someone tries to run it on a machine with python lower than 2.6. The code I put in to check for the specific version and match it should work fine but the problem I have is the interpreter on a 2.4 machine reads the file and sees a "finally" at the end of my try loop and errors out before it gets far enough into execution for my if statement to handle the version mismatch. Other than changing the magic line to specifically look for /usr/bin/python2.6 is there a way python can handle this sort of thing?

• Is google gson running on android?

  I'm playing arround with google gson for communication with my web back end at the moment. This and this older posts indicate that there are some problems with gson on android. I did some easy tests on the device already but maybe I just missed the bug. Edit I'm now parsing a lot more data. Generic lists etc. still not encountered the bug. Has anybody used gson on Android already? How does it work? Has somebody encountered bugs or something that will stop me from using it once it gets more complicated?

• Issue with UITextView in an animation block

  I'm having an issue with a UITextView inside another UIView whose frame is manipulated in an animation block when the keyboard displays. During the animation block the UIView scales beautifully and as expected, but the UITextView jumps out of it's superview(the UIView being animated) at the start of the animation. By the end of the animation, the UITextView ends up in the right place... what gives? Can anybody explain why the UITextView is jumping out of it's container view at the start of the animation?   I've looked at vObject, iCalendar and the official list of CalDAV libraries, including 3 in python. However, I can't find any code that can get me an event object from a given CalDAV (i.e. google, exchange, etc.) server using a username/password. Most of the django calendar related code uses native code libraries and not WebDAV. An ideal python CalDAV client example would 1) use a given uid/pw, 2) obtain primary calendar and 3) obtain next appointment information (i.e. subject, location, start, end, etc.) Thanks!

• GWT AbstractColumnDefinition (Need to add style to certain Columns)

  I have a column Definition for each colume that extends AbstractColumnDefinition these columns are put in a DefaultTableDefinition. example: NAME | SIZE | RES | DELETE | this style (AT THE END OF THE PAGE ) is added to the column names if you notice all of them are with a cursor pointer , meaning a hand shows up when i hover above each one. my question is would I be able to remove the coursor for delete or in general for a certain column and keeping it for another one .. i tried to do that with each column Definition but there is no such thing as remove or addstyle even to like put my own style. • How to subString a block of user generated HTML while preserving formatting?

  I'd like to create the typical preview paragraph with a [read more] link. Problem is, the content that I'd like to SubString() contains text and html, written by a user with a WYSIWYG editor. Of course, I check to make sure the string is not null or empty, then SubString() it, problem is that I could end up breaking the html tags, throwing off the rendering of the entire site. The WYSIWYG editor doesn't seem to create perfectly formatted HTML, and many times seems to use <br /> tags instead of <p></p>, etc... basically, I can't rely on well-formed tags, etc. My workaround was to just strip out all HTML and substring the leftover text. This works, but loses any of the formatting that was in the HTML. What's the best method of SubString()'ing a block of non-well-formed HTML while maintaining HTML that won't break the rendering of the site?

  I'm developing a web user interface to enter some information that is not very complex but needs to be loaded in real time. I think that the application could make use of speech recognition to facilitate the task. Te core of the interface is being built with Javascript and jQuery, but can easily include a flash or silverlight component. I believe that´s probably the way to go... I don't need to recognize everything that the user says, but only a few prerecorded commands. Also, I don't want the user to click on a button to specify the begining and the end of the spoken command. It should be detected live. Is there anything that does this? I would be grateful if anyone tells me about a complete solution, free or commercial, as well as any advice on capturing a sound stream from the mic and process it with flash or sliverlight.   Hi, I have got some strings to be matched via RegEx. We have a java application which reads the regex from a config file and takes two groups of strings, number of which are specified in the same config. E.g. CustomAction.523274ca945f.dialogLabel=Executing Custom Code... will be matched with (?m)^(?!#)\s*(\S*)\s*=\s*(\S*.*) What I need is to pick the first group "CustomAction.523274ca945f.dialogLabel" and exclude the random string in the middle so I end up with something like "CustomAction.dialogLabel" or "CustomAction..dialogLabel" well any other combination but the random string. So I write this: m = k(1:(99/18):end); This works great, except for a tiny problem: Warning: Integer operands are required for colon operator when used as index m = 1 7 12 18 23 29 34 40 45 51 56 62 67 73 78 84 89 95 100 Now, I understand why this comes up, but I'd like to get rid of that warning. Is there a "right" way to do this without a warning?

  Hi, I have the following piece of code: for i := 0 to FControlList.Count - 1 do if Supports(IMyControl(FControlList[i]), IMyControlEx) then begin MyControlEx := IMyControl(FControlList[i]) as IMyControlEx; MyControlEx.DoYourMagic(Self, SomeData); end; This code is called many times during my application execution, but in some specific cases it fails inside the Supports() method. And more specifically - it seems to fall inside the QueryInterface() call within the Supports() method. I checked that FControlList is not nil and FControlList[i] is not nil and it still happens. Any idea will be appreciated!!!

  I have a need to sync auto_increment fields between two tables in different databases on the same MySQL server. The hope was to create a stored procedure where the permissions of the admin would let the web user run ALTER TABLE [db1].[table] AUTO_INCREMENT = [num]; without giving it permissions (That just smells of SQL injection). My problem is I'm receiving errors when creating the store procedure. Is this something that is not allowed by MySQL? • Should I be building GUI applications on Windows using Perl & Tk?

  I have a bunch of related Perl scripts that I would like to put together in one convenient place. So I was thinking of building a GUI and incorporating the scripts. I'm using Strawberry Perl on Windows XP and have just installed Tk from cpan about fifteen minutes ago. Before I go for it, I want some sound advice either for or against it. My other option is to translate the Perl scripts into VB and use Visual Studio 2008, but that might be too much hassle for an outcome that might end up all the same had I just stuck with Perl & Tk. I haven't looked yet, but maybe there is a module for Visual Studio that would allow me to invoke Perl scripts? The main requirements are: It must be able to communicate with MySQL It must be able to fetch & parse XML files from the internet It must be transportable, scalable, and sustainable What direction would you take?

  When Atomikos is configured via Spring, a jta.properties or transactions.properties file is not needed. Nonetheless, Atomikos starts up with the follow messages printed to stderr: No properties path set - looking for transactions.properties in classpath... transactions.properties not found - looking for jta.properties in classpath... Failed to open transactions properties file - using default values It makes it look like the Spring configuration didn't take -- although apparently everything is fine. Does anyone know how to get rid of this so I don't end up getting asked about it 1.000 times?

• BULK INSERT with inconsitant number of columns

  I am trying to load a large amount data in SQL server from a flat file using BULK INSERT. However, my file has varying number of column, for instance the first row contains 14 and the second contains 4. That is OK, I just want to make a table with the max number of columns and load the file into it with nulls for the missing columns. I can play with it from that point. But it seems that SQL Server when reaching the end of the line and having more columns to fill for that same row in the destination table, just moves on to the next line and attempts to put the data on that line to the wrong column of the table. Is there a way to get the behavior that I am looking for? Is there a table hint that I can use the specify this? Has anyone run into this before? • Neglect empty cells while refreshing

  I have an excel macro which refreshes the worksheet. However, if the file (in .csv format) with which the worksheet is being refreshed has empty cells, it's shifting the data from other columns and placing the data in wrong columns. However,if I manually refresh the sheet, it's working fine. I don't know how I can fix this. I just want my whole .csv file including empty cells to appear as it is in the worksheet. Any suggestions would be greatly helpful. The following is the Macro code.
