  • How shared hostings, domain names and DNS work together?

    Hi, I 've this little doubt but I couldn't find information about it, probably because I'm not searching the correct thing. When a browser ask for "www.mydomain.com", the DNS server returns an IP Address, then the browser go there... but what does happen then? I mean, that IP address could be a shared hosting that contains hundreds of web pages and domains, so how does it knows where it have to go? Is something that the web server does? is it something that I could implement in a web application? I mean, for example I have a web application that contains accounts, and each account has a default web page. You could access that page passing the account namne, for example "www.mydomain.com/myaccount", but now I want to register "www.myaccount.com" and then it will get the "www.mydomain.com/myaccount" content. Is it possible? Kind regards.

    Hi, I'm new to python, so please bare with me :) I was wondering if there's any built-in way in python to append variables to URL's regardless of it's structure. I would like to have a URL variable (test=1) added to an URL which could have any of the following structures http://www.aaa.com (would simply add "/?test=1") to the end http://www.aaa.com/home (like the one above, would simply add "/?test=1") to the end http://www.aaa.com/?location=home (would figure out there's already a ? being used, and would add &test=1 to the end) http://www.aaa.com/?location=home&page=1 (like the one above, would figure out there's already a ? being used, and would add &test=1 to the end) I'd be happy to write domething to do it myself, but if python can already do it somehow, I'd me more than happy to use any built-in functionality that would save me some time ;-) Thanks in advance

    I am following Ryan Bates's tutorial on Rails 3 ActionMailer. I generate the mailer in terminal and then establish a setup_mail.rb under config/initializers.     Hi. I want to launch my own media player application when I want to watch a video from Youtube. When I write android:scheme="http" and android:host="m.youtube.com" it is OK. But, it asks everywhere in m.youtube.com to open my app. So, it gets annoying. I tried to use pathPattern, pathPrefix and path to solve this but I didn't get ahead. All I want is clearly this: When the link is like "http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=%2F%gl=US#" the intent filter shouldn't launch my app. When the link is like "http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=%2F&gl=US#/watch?xl=xl_blazer&v=k3Cdqx1qFX8" my application should be launched. Is there anyone that can help me?

Lets say I have 4 URLs http://www.anydotcom.com/test/search.cfm?metric=blah&selector=size&value=1 http://www.anydotcom.com/test/search.cfm?metric=blah2&selector=style&value=1 http://www.anydotcom.com/test/search.cfm?metric=blah3&selector=size&value=1 http://www.anydotcom.com/test/details.cfm?metric=blah&selector=size&value=1 I want to create an expression that will identify any URL that contains the string selector=size but does NOT contain details.cfm I know that to find a string that does NOT contain another string I can use this expression: (^((?!details.cfm).)*$) But, I'm not sure how to add in the selector=size portion. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • trouble with custom 'Text Bubble' component (examples included)

    I'm trying to use a custom Text component to show a series of comments. I got the original idea from: http://www.eonflex.com/?p=40 I've got the base case working but I am stuck with 2 problems I cant seem to figure out: Since I am drawing around the text, the actual height of each bubble is greater than that of the Text field, as a result, the last bubble is always chopped off. I have tried explicitly overriding the height getter, and adding some padding, but I cant seem to get it right. You can see an example here: http://test.lambandtunafish.com/bubbles/CommentTest.swf In my layout, I have 2 VBoxes (one nested inside the other). The first vbox shows a form where the user can enter a comment, and the second box has all the comments. In order to ensure that the scrollbars only show up on the second box, I set minHeight="0" on the nested VBox, but then for some reason, some comments' text is shifted to the right. The trick is, it needs to hold under the weight of strange looking domains like: www.champa.kku.ac.th Looking at this one myself with human eyes, I still guessed it incorrectly: thought the domain would be kku.ac.th but that gives a dns error when visiting. I never see any SIP traffic from GoTalk to my asterisk server trying to connect the call. Seems I'm not registering correctly for incoming calls because GoTalk aren't sending them to me. I am correct in using the GoTalk username 09xxxxxx as the DID, aren't I ? I've tried using my phone number but it makes no difference.

    I'm writing a proxy server. When I use curl to fetch a page, say http://www.foo.com/pants, curl makes the following request: GET /pants HTTP/1.1 When I have curl send that request through my local proxy, curl changes the GET request to: GET http://www.foo.com/pants HTTP/1.1 This change causes the foo.com server return a 404. Is foo.com broken? Or is the fully qualified domain name only meaningful to proxy servers? Should I always strip http://domain from the requests I send out? Thanks!

  • Need help on how to setup my packages and projects in eclipse

This is my current setup. com.example.licensegenerator.client (used by the client application) :LicenseLoader (no Main method) :LicenseDownloader (no Main method) com.example.licensegenerator.server.keys (used by the server) :ProductKeyGenerator(Main method) com.example.licensegenerator.server.license (used on the server also) :LicenseGenerator(Main method) com.example.licensegenerator.lib (Shared classes between client and server) :Contants (no main) Now I have a few questions. Is it OK to have multiple Main() methods in a single project? Will I be able to compile them to different .jar files? (In this case I need two different jars for the server) Is there a better way to setup the packages? And a totally unrelated question, with exceptions, is it better to handle them right then and there or throw them and let the main method catch them all (the program cannot recover if an error occurs)

    I've created a new GridLayout class that I want to use in an XML File. The class is in another project. I've created the attrs.xml file in the other project with my properties but when the constructor gets called with the AttributeSet, none of the values are set. In my xml for my screen layout, I refer to the layout with the following: xmlns:gridLayout="@com.mastertechsoftware.AndroidUtil:http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/com.mastertechsoftware.AndroidUtil" Not sure if that is right. I have the attrs.xml file being compiled to R.java in com/mastertechsoftware/AndroidUtil. All the right styleable values are there. In my constructor, I use: TypedArray a = c .obtainStyledAttributes(attrs, R.styleable.GridLayout); this.numRows = a.getInt(R.styleable.GridLayout_numRows, -1); Nothing comes back (-1 does but that means nothing is there) If I use int n = a.getIndexCount(); I get 0.

    HI guys. I was trying to configure my django project in a subdirectory of the root, but didn't get things working.(LOcally it works perfect). I followed the django official django documentarion to deploy a project with mod_python. The real problem is that I am getting "Page not found" errors, whenever I try to go to the admin or any view of my apps. For example. If I go to www.domain.com/mysite/ I get the index view I configured in mysite.urls. I googled a lot to solve this problem and read how other developers configure their django project, but didn't find too much information to deploy django in a subdirectory. I have the admin enabled in INSTALLED_APPS and the settings.py is ok. Please if you have any guide or telling me what I am doing wrong it will be much appreciated. THanks.
