• Unable to add a row to a HTML table dynamically

  I am unable to add a row to a HTML table dynamically. I am using IHtmlDocument2 to create tr and td elements and IHtmlElement to set attributes and IHtmlDomNode to add created node to the document hierarchy. Please anyone help me to solve the above problem. I am traversing through the document when I get the tr tag I have created the tr element using CreateElement, then I use InsertBefore to insert it into the document but it's not working. I've tried for one week but didn't get anything working.

• creating a Menu from SQLite values in Java

  I am trying to create a ListMenu using data from an SQLite database to define the name of each MenuItem. So in a class called menu.java I have defined the array String classes [] = {}; which should hold each menu item name. In a DBAdapter class I created a function so the user can insert info to a table (This all works fine btw). public long insertContact(String name, String code, String location, String comments, int days, int start, int end, String type) { ContentValues initialValues = new ContentValues(); initialValues.put(KEY_NAME, name); initialValues.put(KEY_CODE, code); initialValues.put(KEY_LOCATION, location); initialValues.put(KEY_COMMENTS, comments); initialValues.put(KEY_DAYS, days); initialValues.put(KEY_START, start); initialValues.put(KEY_END, end); initialValues.put(KEY_TYPE, type); return db.insert(DATABASE_TABLE, null, initialValues); } It would be the Strings inserted into KEY_NAME that I need to populate that String array with. Does anyone know if this is possible? Thanks so much for the help guys. If I implement that function by Sam/Mango the program crashes, am I using it incorrectly or is the error due to the unknown size of the array? DBAdapter db = new DBAdapter(this); String classes [] = db.getClasses(); edit: I should mention that if I manually define the array: String classes [] = {"test1", "test2", "test3", etc}; It works fine. The error is a NullPointerException Here's the logcat (sorry about the formatting). • Best practices for using memcached in Rails?

  Hello everybody, as database transcations in our app are getting more and more time consuming, we have started to use memcached to reduce the amount of queries passed to MySQL. All in all, it works fine and really saves a lot of time. But as caching was "silently appearing" as a workaround to give the app more juice, a lot of our models now contain code like this: def self.all_cached Rails.cache.fetch('object_name') { find( :all, :include => [associations]) } end This is getting more and more a pain as filling and flushing the cache happens in several classes accross the application. Now, I was wondering if there was a better way to abstract memcached logic to make it more powerful and easy to use across all needed models? I was thinking about having some kind of memcached-module which is included in all needed modules. But before playing around, I thought: Let's ask experts first :-) Thanks Matt

• Drupal / ubercart remote node addition

  I am developing my first large Ubercart site, which needs to have a daily product database update from an existing xBase (DBF format). The conversion from DBF to MySQL/PHP is handled on the same server as the Drupal installation, using some custom scripting I have done, and works well. However, the next step is to get my script to talk to Drupal and update the product nodes with pricing/stock level/etc. Googling hasn't resulted in any good hits, at least in PHP terms. So how do I go about this? Can I just use a POST to a particular page in Drupal, ie RESTful, or do I have to use some more arcane xmlrpc method?

When i use openquery i can overcome this by setting this: SET FMTONLY OFF. Does anyone know if there's a similar workaround for my problem?

  Hi, I'm choosing between AMQP (RabbitMQ) vs XMPP (eJabberd) for my browser-based flash-free javascript powered real-time turn-based game. I don't know much about AMQP and XMPP protocol. I would like to use PHP for user-authorization and some data store-retrieve with MySQL. As far as I found out, RabbitMQ has PHP clients but eJabberd not. • SQL Server: export data via SQL query?

  I have FK and PK all over my db and table data needs to be specified in a certain order or else I get FK/PK insertion errors. I'm tired of executing the wizard again and again to transfer data one table at a time. In the SQL Server export data wizard there is an option to "Write a query to specify the data to transfer". I'd like to write the query myself and specify the correct order. Will this solve my problem? How do I do this?   Consider a simple result set from a mysql query. rs("description") and rs("description").Value should be considered as the same thing. However, depending on how you access them, you get different results (!!) Access rs("description") directly and you are returned a "Field" object. Or, more importantly, use it directly in a call, and you are returned a "Field" object. mydescription = rs("description") + " is the description" Assign it to another variable, and the Value of that object is assigned... mydescription = rs("description") the contents of "mydescription" is a string. Why this difference? At one point in the life of ASP they must have both worked exactly the same, so why have they changed, and how can I change it back?

  Is there a way to define an enum in AS3 in a way we do it in other languages? I can define constants with defined values like that: private const CONST_1:int = 0; private const CONST_2:int = 1; private const CONST_3:int = 2; and so on. If I want to insert some other constant between 3 these I need to move all values like that: private const CONST_1:int = 0; private const CONST_2:int = 1; private const CONST_2A:int = 2; private const CONST_3:int = 3; while in other language I would end up with only adding a new member to enum closure like that: enum { CONST_1 = 0, CONST_2, CONST_2A, CONST_3 } MyConstEnum; Does AS3 has something similar?   I am updating an application to Rails 3 and I am having trouble creating a custom foreign key. I have something like this: class Product < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :owner, :class_name => 'User' ... end class User < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :products ... end class ProductsController < ApplicationController before_filter :authenticate_user! def index @products = current_user.products end end The view: <%- @products.each do |p| -%> <%= p.created_at %><br /> <%- end -%> I get this error in my Rails log: Mysql::Error: Unknown column 'products.user_id' in 'where clause': SELECT `products`.* FROM `products` WHERE (`products`.user_id = 1) It should see the belongs_to :owner and look for a foreign key called owner_id. I even tried explicitly setting the foreign key and that does not work. I also checked lighthouse for a possible Rails 3 bug but no luck.

• Is it safe to convert a mysqlpp::sql_blob to a std::string?

  I'm grabbing some binary data out of my MySQL database. It comes out as a mysqlpp::sql_blob type. It just so happens that this BLOB is a serialized Google Protobuf. I need to de-serialize it so that I can access it normally. This gives a compile error, since ParseFromString() is not intended for mysqlpp:sql_blob types: protobuf.ParseFromString( record.data ); However, if I force the cast, it compiles OK: protobuf.ParseFromString( (std::string) record.data ); Is this safe? I'm particularly worried because of this snippet from the mysqlpp documentation: "Because C++ strings handle binary data just fine, you might think you can use std::string instead of sql_blob, but the current design of String converts to std::string via a C string. As a result, the BLOB data is truncated at the first embedded null character during population of the SSQLS. There’s no way to fix that without completely redesigning either String or the SSQLS mechanism." Thanks for your assistance!

• emacs indentation in asm mode

  I am looking for the equivalent of c-indent-level and ruby-indent-level, for asm-mode. That is, I want to force the indentation to 4 spaces, and I want them to be replaced with blanks. What I've seen tells me it does not exist for asm-mode. Could someone please tell me this is wrong? I tried this also: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/69934/set-4-space-indent-in-emacs-in-text-mode , to no av. I have tried: (setq tab-width 4) (setq indent-line-function 'insert-tab) (setq asm-indent-level 4) This works however: (custom-set-variables '(tab-stop-list (quote (4 8 12 16 20 24 28 32 36 40 44 48 52 56 60 64 68 72 76 80 84 88 92 96 100 104 108 112 116 120)))) But I wonder if there is a way to define that for asm-mode only. What if I wanted to keep the default tab behaviour for other modes?

  Hello, We are using SQLite in a multi processes and multi threaded application. The SQLite database files are encrypted using the embedded SQLite encryption. The FAQ states that SQLite should be able to manage multi process accesses using locks mechanism. We are experiencing a strange problem: When many threads are accessing the same database file, sometime constrains violations occur, more specifically - a field with a unique constrain is getting duplicate values after calling "insert or replace" statement. It happens quite often now, that we are using the encryption. Before we started using SQLite encryption we did not notice such a behavior. Are there any specific known issues with this?

  I have been writing a lot of HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL and JavaScript lately working on a website, and I would like to move on to 'proper' OOP with an eye to making smartphone apps. I would like to at least cover iPhone and BlackBerry, which means learning Objective C, Cocoa and Java, before learning the specifics of interacting with the devices themselves, such as native bluetooth/GPS/internet API/methods. I would appreciate pointers to books or resources that will get me from a procedural web developer to object oriented app-maker. Most of the reviews of books on Objective C and Java have been mixed. I am about to start working my way through Beginning Java Objects (APress) which I have borrowed from my brother, so even if it's not a good intro at least it was free!

I have tried but only get undefined values. In this situation, it will be acceptable to use synchronous calls. Any advice appreciated. Thanks

• Equivalent of LaTeX's \label and \ref in HTML.

  I have an FAQ in HTML (example) in which the questions refer to each other a lot. That means whenever we insert/delete/rearrange the questions, the numbering changes. LaTeX solves this very elegantly with \label and \ref -- you give items simple tags and LaTeX worries about converting to numbers in the final document. How do people deal with that in HTML? ADDED: Note that this is no problem if you don't have to actually refer to items by number, in which case you can set a tag with <a name="foo"> and then link to it with <a href="#foo">some non-numerical way to refer to foo</a>. But I'm assuming "foo" has some auto-generated number, say from an <ol> list, and I want to use that number to refer to and link to it.

• How to add Transactions with a DataSet created using the Add Connection Wizard?

  I have a DataSet that I have added to my project where I can Insert and Add records using the Add Query function in Visual Studio 2010, however I want to add transactions to this, I have found a few examples but cannot seem to find one that works with these. I know I need to use the SQLClient.SQLTransaction Class somehow. I used the Add New Data Source Wizard and added the Tables/View/Functions I need, I just need an example using this process such as How to get the DataConnection my DataSet has used. Assuming all options have been set in the wizard and I am only using the pre-defined adapters and options asked for in this wizard, how to I add the Transaction logic to my Database. For example I have a DataSet called ProductDataSet with the XSD created for this, I have then added my Stock table as a Datasource and Added an AddStock method with a wizard, this also if a new item calls an AddItem method, if either of these fails I want to rollback the AddItem and AddStock in this case.
