  Hello guys! I would like to apply RBF neural networks to teach my system. I have a system with an input: | 1 2 3 4 5 6 ... 32 | 33 | | 1000 0001 0010 0100 1000 1000 ... 0100 | 0 0 1 | You have to read this without the "|" character. I just wanted you to see that the last three elements in the input are staying together. The result have to be a number between 1-32, which has the value "1000" in the input. In my training set I will always have a result for an array of this kind. What kind of functions can I use for the teaching algorithm? Can you point me please to the right way?   Here's a simple question I've been stuck on for a while. When I set < identity impersonate=true > in my web.config so that asp.net impersonates the logged on user automatically (or the anonymous account if not using Windows Authentication), where does the identity that asp.net impersonates come from? This document: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff649264.aspx shows three places you can retrieve information about the logged on user: Httpcontext.Current.user System.Threading.Thread.Current System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent It seems that none of these locations consistently match the identity that gets impersonated when I set < identity impersonate=true > in web.config. I would like to know where the impersonated identity comes from.

• Do programmable Ethernet devices (think onboard CPU) really exist?

  I've heard from various people that programmable Ethernet cards exist and are easily available. However I have yet to be able to track down one of these mythical devices so I'm wondering if they're just that - a myth. Such a programmable card has a gigabit Ethernet interface, has a programmable CPU and connects to the host system via PCI Express. The problem area these cards address are low latency network applications where the card itself does the work and "reports back" to the operating system. Basically the card acts as a co-processor and handles all the low latency requirements on the card, thus avoiding the issues of writing low latency code in user-land - think 0.4ms - 0.5ms response times. So my question is, do these cards really exist and if so, where can I get my hands on one?

• A strange issue... No code changes getting reflected.

  I am using netbeans to develop an applet, i have a piece of code which looked like this: ipAddresss = DEFAULT_IP; System.out.println("portlet.services.hostname:" + ipAddresss); Now I changed it to something like this: ipAddresss = DEFAULT_IP; System.out.println("portlet.services.hostname using default IP Address:" + ipAddresss); But no matter what I do, it sill keep on printing: portlet.services.hostname:null I have tried deleting all .netbeans folder from documents and settings, tried creating new project, but now i am completely baffled by this issue... So, the problem is, no matter what I do, no change is getting reflected when I run the program. Can there be a java applet cache, netbeans cache, i am not sure why...

• Do you know any build systems with decent support for parallelization?

  Hi, I am looking for a build system (working on ms windows) that has good support for parallelization of tasks/targets (or whatever you call them). To be more specific - during build (that is initiated on MS Windows machine) I need to copy source files to a number of different machines (which are not necessarily running Windows) and start a remote job on each of them - and I really like to do that on all machines at once. Does anyone know a build system that's capable of executing such a task in parallel. From what I googled, the options currently available are: -j switch in make - but i don't know if nmake supports this -some custom nAnt tasks -msbuild has some form of support for parallelization - seems similiar to make (meaning you don't specify what to do in parallel, just specify that it would be nice to build things that way) -fake (f# make) is written in functional programming language which are known to have good parallelization support - but I'm not very skillful in functional programming area. Any other solutions I could explore?

  I have used the following code to get the document root. $path = get_file_dir(); function get_file_dir() { global $argv; return realpath($argv[0]); } Below code includes config.php and config.php has the $setuprun variable with a value. if((file_exists("$path/admin/config.php"))) { include_once "$path/admin/config.php"; } if($setuprun=="true") { //do some code } In my system, it takes the document root like /home/myname/myfolder and the variable $setuprun has the value and the code works perfectly. But in another user's system, it shows the following error. Notice: Undefined variable: setuprun in /usr/local/www/chat/setup.php on line 22. He is using FreeBSD 8.2 Stable with MySQL 5, PHP5 and Apache 2.2. Can anyone please help me to solve this error?

  I have a class, containing a list property, where the list contains objects that has an enum property. When I serialize this, it looks like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ibm850"?> <test> <events> <test-event type="changing" /> <test-event type="changed" /> </events> </test> Is it possible, through attributes, or similar, to get the Xml to look like this? <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ibm850"?> <test> <events> <changing /> <changed /> </events> </test> Basically, use the property value of the enum as a way to determine the tag-name? Is using a class hierarchy (ie. creating subclasses instead of using the property value) the only way? Edit: After testing, it seems even a class-hierarchy won't actually work. If there is a way to structure the classes to get the output I want, even with sub-classes, that is also an acceptable answer.   Greetings, in my asp.net mvc application what i would like to do is to enable access to some pages only after user was successfully authorized. I have already created custom membership provider and that works fine. How can I, in web config create such rule - for instance for all pages in ~Admin/ folder? I don't want to create on every controller's action the validation code. For now i have in my web.config the following statement: <location path="~/Admin"> <system.web> <authorization> <deny users="?"/> </authorization> </system.web> but it doesn't work.

• Boost ASIO read X bytes synchroniously into a vector

  Hey, I've been attempting to write a client/server app with boost now, so far it sends and receives but I can't seem to just read X bytes into a vector. If I use the following code vector<uint8_t> buf; for (;;) { buf.resize(4); boost::system::error_code error; size_t len = socket.read_some(boost::asio::buffer(buf), error); if (error == boost::asio::error::eof) break; // Connection closed cleanly by peer. else if (error) throw boost::system::system_error(error); // Some other error. } And the packet is bigger then 4 bytes then it seems it keeps writing into those 4 bytes until the entire packet has been received, however I want it to fetch 4 bytes, then allow me to parse them, and then get the rest of the packet. Can anyone provide me with a working example, or at least a pointer on how to make it work properly ? Regards, Xeross

  I'm currently learning about the different modes the Windows operating system runs in (kernel mode vs. user mode), device drivers, their respective advantages and disadvantages and computer security in general. I would like to create a practical example of what a faulty device driver that runs in kernel mode can do to the system, by for example corrupting memory used for critical OS-processes. How can I execute my code in kernel mode instead of user mode, directly? Do I have to write a dummy device driver and install it to do this? Where can I read more about kernel and user mode in Windows? I know the dangers of this and will do all of the experiments on a virtual machine running Windows XP only

• Why do I have to give an identifier?

  In code: try { System.out.print(fromClient.readLine()); } catch(IOException )//LINE 1 { System.err.println("Error while trying to read from Client"); } In code line marked as LINE 1 compiler forces me to give an identifier even though I'm not using it. Why this unnatural constrain? And then if I type an identifier I'm getting warning that identifier isn't used. It just doesn't make sense to me, forcing a programmer to do something unnecesarry and surplus. And after me someone will revise this code and will be wondering if I didn't use this variable on purpouse or I just forgot. So in order to avoid that I have to write additional comment explaining why I do not use variable which is unnecessary in my code. Thanks

  My code tries to replace "," with "/" in a string. Should I escape "," in the regex string? Both of the two code snippets generated the same results, so I am confused.   I have a RetrieveBlob.aspx that gets some query string variables and returns an asset. Eeach url corresponds to a unique asset. In the RetrieveBlob.aspx a Cache Profile is set. In Web.Config the profile looks like (under system.web tag): <caching> <outputCache enableOutputCache="true" /> <outputCacheSettings> <outputCacheProfiles> <add duration="14800" enabled="true" varyByParam="*" name="AssetCacheProfile" /> </outputCacheProfiles> </outputCacheSettings> </caching> Ok, this works fine. When I put a breakpoint in the code behind of RetrieveBlob.aspx, it gets triggered the first time, and all the other times not.   I have a specific issue with general console printing and I was wondering whether anyone has a solution for it. I am trying to print a dataTable which would look like sth like this: Table ---------------------- Name |Surname | ---------------------- Mike |Mikhailowish| Rafaello|Mirena | and so on. In order to print the border of the bar I need to know what the maximum length of each column value is. I don't want to go through the whole database to find that out and then again to print it.   Hi, As the title says, I want to know if it is be possible to automatically launch a PHP script when a restart of apache is done. thanks MORE INFO EDIT: I will try to explain what is the purpose of this, the best I can. We are currently refactoring our application and we'll be stuck with 2 differents configuration file system for the time being, until all of the application flows are refactored (might take more than a year). The old one is using simple flat file in the key=value format (i.e. www.conf), while the new system will use cacheable php files (i.e. www.php). We need to replicate to www.php any config changes made in www.config. Since Apache gets restarted whenever there is a config change in www.conf, I thought it might be a good workaround solution to launch a PHP script, that would replicate the www.conf to www.php.

• Are there any CMS editors out there which users can populate locked down HTML templates with content

  Hi there, We work in email marketing, creating HTML/TEXT emails for clients. In essence we design HTML email templates for our clients. Clients then post us content (via a form) to populate these templates before we send them out. Right now we do this manually, basically cutting and pasting the content from their submitted form into the relevant parts of the template, which is time consuming and particularly mind-numbing. What we're looking for (and have so far been unable to find) is a simple system which will allow us to capture this client content in a sort of WYSIWYG HTML format. Basically they populate a locked down version of the template, entering text where necessary, before submitting to us. This is our most basic requirement, and a friend of mine kindly demo'd a proof of concept here: http://advantageone.co.uk/mbe/ Note: If you click on a text area in the body of the template, an editor pop ups. Now what we are looking for a CMS editor out there which can be easily adapted to do the above and the following for our end clients? User login View previously submitted campaigns that they have created and edit these Create new - selecting from template (assigned to their user/client id), perhaps being able to add new rows to the template. And have these HTML templates locked down so they can only edit what they're allowed too (like in the demo above), and perhaps make some areas required. Perhaps have a simple workflow or approval built in Allow us to lock submitted campaigns after a point so they can't be further edited, and as administrators view all campaigns from all users Be so incredibly simple, with any extraneous functionality switched off Essentially an extremley simple stripped down CMS, but we use the outputted HTML for sending out as an email, rather than publishing onto the web. Now to the actual dilemma: we're looking for something really simple, and the above sounds like a CMS. But we haven't been able to find anything that already does, or can be easily adapted to do this. Everything is either too complex, or simple and inflexible. We're sure there must be something off the shelf available, rather than us coding something ourselves. But we've kind of got stuck. Does anyone know of a system, or could recommend a system that can do the above out of the box, or with a few days tweaking?
