• Can an application affect TCP retransmits

  I'm troubleshooting some communications issues and in the network traces I am occasionally coming across TCP sequence errors. One example I've got is: Server to Client: Seq=3174, Len=50 Client to Server: Ack=3224 Server to Client: Seq=3224, Len=50 Client to Server: Ack=3224 Server to Client: Seq=3274, Len=10 Client to Server: Ack=3224, SLE=3274, SRE=3284 Packets 4 & 5 are recorded in the trace (which is from a router in between the client and server) at almost exactly the same time so they most likely crossed in transit. The TCP session has got out of sync with the client missing the last two transmissions from the server. Those two packets should have been retransmitted but they weren't, the next log in the trace is a RST packet from the Client 24 seconds after packet 6. My question is related to what could be responsible for the failure to retransmit the server data from packets 3 & 5? I would assume that the retransmit would be at the operating system level but is there anyway the application could influence it and stop it being sent? A thread blocking or put to sleep or something like that?

• Flash - Http service bound to a button can be used only once ?

  I have a flex project, in one of the screen of my UI, I create a HTTP service that call a "doGet" J2EE servlet through the GET method; and I bind the service call to a button. The service print log to system.out so I know when it is run. The problem I have is, when I click said button the first time, the servlets do what it is supposed to do, and print the stack to system.out, but if I click another time, nothing happens. Any idea what might be the cause ? • Rotating an ImageVIew along with its original position in android in below HoneyComb versions

  I am trying rotate an ImageView along with its original location (rotating the image aswell as the view). So that After rotation, when I click on the rotated Image in its current position, it should be able clicked in the rotated location only. For this solution I am trying the following code. However it is rotating is going fine. After the rotation end I need to place the ImageView and Image in the rotated Location to make it able click over there only. But it is not going successfully. I am unable to rotated Image location axis points to place correctly. • NSDrawer delegate pointing to deallocated object?

  A user has sent in a crash report with the stack trace listed below (I have not been able to reproduce the crash myself, but every other crash this user has reported has been a valid bug, even when I couldn't reproduce the effect). The application is a reference-counted Objective-C/Cocoa app. If I am interpreting it correctly, the crash is caused by attempting to send a drawerDidOpen: message to a deallocated object. The only object that should be receiving drawerDidOpen: is the drawer's delegate object (nowhere does any object register to receive drawer notifications), and the drawer's delegate object is instantiated via the XIB/NIB file, wired to the delegate outlet of the drawer, and not referenced anywhere else. Given that, how can I protect against the delegate getting dealloc'd before the drawer notification? Or, alternately, what have I misinterpreted that might be causing the crash? • Android: FragmentAdapter and pageview do not update the view

  My trouble is: when i get new data, my viewpager that use my custom adapter do not update view. I discovered that many programmer got same bug, so i tried a lot of suggestion but no way works for me. So tired. • [OT a bit] Flex+JEE what is it good for?

  Ok so sorry for being, I guess, a bit off topic but still I think this is the best place to ask. My new semester just started (don't worry I won't ask you to do my homework) and this time we have a rather cool subject about www programming in general where we have to do a web service, web abb - whatever as long as it's "web". Here's the problem though, my team and I want to do it with Flex and JEE but we don't have much experience about what are they actually used for. I mean we know you can do virtually anything with it, but we don't really want to lose time on doing something useless. My first idea was to do a "brainstorming" 3D room/service - a place where people could log in have a video conference, a whiteboard, a place to upload pictures everyone could see, some toolbars for google, youtube etc. plus some other features which would make real-time brainstorming easy when you can't get everyone in one place. But is Flex+JEE really suitable? I mean I'm 99% sure it's doable but is it really worth doing it in Flex+JEE or was the whole purpose of JEE completely different? @EDIT: well this was only one of our ideas obviously. I do know the basics of JSP, Servlets, JPA etc. of course but yeah the main goal of this project is to get some actual experience. The problem is we don't really know is it worth doing something like let's say a social network (something like extended facebook) for gamers (doesn't really matter if it already exists) in JEE or would it only look ridiculous (because PHP or whatever would be a far better choice)? Bottom line is that we are wondering are only large scale applications (for banks etc.) written in JEE or is it good for anything (even the smaller projects)?

  I'm writing an interface to a web service where we need to upload configuration files. The documentation only provides a sample in C#.net which I am not familiar with. I'm trying to implement this in PHP. Can someone familiar with both languages point me in the right direction? I can figure out all the basics, but I'm trying to figure out suitable PHP replacements for the FileStream, ReadBytes, and UploadDataFile functions. I believe that the RecService object contains the URL for the web service. • git rebase onto remote updates

  I work with a small team that uses git for source cod management. Recently, we have been doing topic branches to keep track of features then merging them into master locally then pushing them to a central git repository on a remote server. This works great when no changes have been made in master: I create my topic branch, commit it, merge it into master, then push. Hooray. However, if someone has pushed to origin before i do, my commits are not fast-forward. Thus a merge commit ensues. This also happens when a topic branch needs to merge with master locally to ensure my changes work with the code as of now. So, we end up with merge commits everywhere and a git log rivaling a friendship bracelet. So, rebasing is the obvious choice. What I would like is to: create topic branches holding several commits checkout master and pull (fast-forward because i haven't committed to master) rebase topic branches onto the new head of master rebase topics against master(so the topics start at masters head), bringing master up to my topic head My way of doing this currently is listed below: git checkout master git rebase master topic_1 git rebase topic_1 topic_2 git checkout master git rebase topic_2 git branch -d topic_1 topic_2 Is there a faster way to do this?

• How to manually set an authenticated user in Spring Security / SpringMVC

  After a new user submits a 'New account' form, I want to manually log that user in so they don't have to login on the subsequent page. The normal form login page going through the spring security interceptor works just fine. In the new-account-form controller I am creating a UsernamePasswordAuthenticationToken and setting it in the SecurityContext manually: SecurityContextHolder.getContext().setAuthentication(authentication); On that same page I later check that the user is logged in with: SecurityContextHolder.getContext().getAuthentication().getAuthorities(); This returns the authorities I set earlier in the authentication. All is well. But when this same code is called on the very next page I load, the authentication token is just UserAnonymous. I'm not clear why it did not keep the authentication I set on the previous request. Any thoughts? Could it have to do with session ID's not being set up correctly? Is there something that is possibly overwriting my authentication somehow? Perhaps I just need another step to save the authentication? Or is there something I need to do to declare the authentication across the whole session rather than a single request somehow? Just looking for some thoughts that might help me see what's happening here.

However, this is undesirable and I would like to have a login text box and other ui elements. If I do not call my login method, nothing happens and the screen stays black, even though I have put a label and other elements on the view. Does anyone know a way to resolve this? My passcode view is embedded in a Navigation Controller, but is detached from the main storyboard.

• How would you code an efficient Circular Buffer in Java or C#

  I want a simple class that implements a fixed-size circular buffer. It should be efficient, easy on the eyes, generically typed. EDIT: It need not be MT-capable, for now. I can always add a lock later, it won't be high-concurrency in any case. Methods should be: .Add and I guess .List, where I retrieve all the entries. On second thought, Retrieval I think should be done via an indexer. At any moment I will want to be able to retrieve any element in the buffer by index. But keep in mind that from one moment to the next Element[n] may be different, as the Circular buffer fills up and rolls over. This isn't a stack, it's a circular buffer. Regarding "overflow": I would expect internally there would be an array holding the items, and over time the head and tail of the buffer will rotate around that fixed array. But that should be invisible from the user. There should be no externally-detectable "overflow" event or behavior. This is not a school assignment - it is most commonly going to be used for a MRU cache or a fixed-size transaction or event log.

• Spring 3 MVC validation BindingResult doesn't contain any errors

  I'm attempting to get a Spring 3.0.2 WebMVC project running with the new annotated validation support. I turned on the debugger, and when I get into the controller method, the BindingResult contains 0 errors after I submit an empty form. (The BindingResult does show that it contains the Client object as a target.) It then proceeds to insert a record without an Id and throws an exception. If I fill out an Id but leave the name blank, it creates a record with the Id and empty fields. What steps am I missing to get the validation working?

• jQuery ajax post of jpg image to .net webservice. Image results corrupted

  I have a phonegap jquery app that opens the camera and take a picture. I then POST this picture to a .net webservice, wich I've coded. I can't use phonegap FileTransfer because such isn't supported by Bada os, wich is a requirement. I believe I've successfully loaded the image from phonegap FileSystem API, I've attached it into an .ajax type:post, I've even received it from .net side, but when .net save the image into the server, the image results corrupted. It seems to me that two sides of the communication have different data type. Has anyone experience in this? Any help will be appreciated.   I work with a small team that uses git for source cod management. Recently, we have been doing topic branches to keep track of features then merging them into master locally then pushing them to a central git repository on a remote server. This works great when no changes have been made in master: I create my topic branch, commit it, merge it into master, then push. Hooray. However, if someone has pushed to origin before i do, my commits are not fast-forward. Thus a merge commit ensues. This also happens when a topic branch needs to merge with master locally to ensure my changes work with the code as of now. So, we end up with merge commits everywhere and a git log rivaling a friendship bracelet. So, rebasing is the obvious choice. What I would like is to: create topic branches holding several commits checkout master and pull (fast-forward because i haven't committed to master) rebase topic branches onto the new head of master rebase topics against master(so the topics start at masters head), bringing master up to my topic head My way of doing this currently is listed below: git checkout master git rebase master topic_1 git rebase topic_1 topic_2 git checkout master git rebase topic_2 git branch -d topic_1 topic_2 Is there a faster way to do this?

  I'm trying to find a generic way of getting the name of Constructors. • Database.ExecuteNonQuery does not return

  I have a very odd issue. When I execute a specific database stored procedure from C# using SqlCommand.ExecuteNonQuery, my stored procedure is never executed. Furthermore, SQL Profiler does not register the command at all. I do not receive a command timeout, and no exeception is thrown. The weirdest thing is that this code has worked fine over 1,200,000 times, but for this one particular file I am inserting into the database, it just hangs forever. When I kill the application, I receive this error in the event log of the database server: "A fatal error occurued while reading the input stream from the network. The session will be terminated (input error: 64, output error: 0). Which makes me think that the database server is receiving the command, though SQL Profiler says otherwise. I know that the appropiate permissions are set, and that the connection string is right as this piece of code and stored procedure works fine with other files.
