  • How can I put multiple markers on Google maps with Javascript API v3?

    Hi, I'd like to know how to put multiple markers for Google Maps using Javascript API v3.   • JQuery tools.scrollable conflict with navbar Ajax in CakePHP

    In our views/layout/default.ctp file we have an element that's used to implement a cascading combo select box which uses JQuery ajax to update the fields. This selector is part of our navbar and is loaded on every page of the site. The default.ctp has these includes in the : <?php echo $html->charset(); ?> <title><?php echo $title_for_layout; //if(Configure::read('debug')) //echo "cake: " . Configure::version(); ?></title> <?php echo $html->css('style'); echo $javascript->link('jquery', true); echo $javascript->link('jquery.form', true); echo $javascript->link('jquery.url', true); echo $javascript->link('navbar', true); echo $html->script('tools.expose-1.0.3.js', array('inline' => false)); //echo $scripts_for_layout; ?> On the views/cars/index.ctp page we have: echo $javascript->link('tools.tabs-1.0.1', true); echo $javascript->link('tools.overlay-1.0.4', true); echo $javascript->link('jquery.form', true); echo $javascript->link('tools.scrollable-1.0.5', true); The issue is that on every other page the navbar combo box selector works. However, on the cars/index.ctp it doesn't work. It only works when we comment out the 'tools.scrollable' include. Any ideas why there is this conflict? We have been stuck on this problem for months...

  • JSF Page does not submit when onclick javascript is added to menu item?

    I show some detail using popup windows. I want to close those when the user clicks on sign-out link. I have a JavaScript function that'll close the windows. The sign-out link is rendered using Navigation MenuModel. The definition in faces-config is as below - <managed-bean> <managed-bean-name>signoutNavigation</managed-bean-name> <managed-bean-class>com.xxx.xxx.framework.NavigationItem</managed-bean-class> <managed-bean-scope>none</managed-bean-scope> <managed-property> <property-name>label</property-name> <value>Sign Out</value> </managed-property> <managed-property> <property-name>viewId</property-name> <value>/signout.jsp</value> </managed-property> <managed-property> <property-name>outcome</property-name> <value>signout</value> </managed-property> <managed-property> <property-name>onclick</property-name> <value>closeOrderWindows()</value> </managed-property> </managed-bean> The problem is when I use the "onclick" property on managed-bean, the page doesn't submit to "signout.jsp" and remains on same page. When I remove/comment the "onclick" part, the page gets submitted properly. I use MyFaces Trinidad.

  • Garbled text in Screen [closed]

    The graphical Interface in my system is garbled with some text. At the beginning I thought it was due to java and tomcat that I installed. But after removing java and tomcat, it is still the same. I am using ubuntu server and i have installed xfce desktop environment with oboard softkey I have added my dmesg output to this message.     I have been given a staff list which is supposed to be up to date but it doesn't match an intranet People Finder which is written in ASP.NET. As the information is sensitive I am not able to access the database the People Finder is using so the only way I can get at the information is by scraping the structure starting at the top brass at the top and then going through each tier in turn. Each person has a Staff number which then forms the URL http://intranet/peoplefinder/index.aspx?srn=ABC1234 and then all the people who report to them are listed underneth in the format <a id="gvEmployees_ctl03_lnkFullName" href="index.aspx?srn=ABC4321" target="_self"> where each URL indicates the Staff number and provides a link to their team. The trouble arises when the teams are big as paging is implemented in the GridView with an URL such as <a href="javascript:__doPostBack('gvEmployees','Page$2')">2</a>. How would I scrape this page, capture the SRN and other details along with the people who report to the person on all pages of the GridView then loop through each reportee and do the same process until the whole list is complete?

  • How to more effectively debug PHP code in the vein JavaScript with Firebug or XCode?

    Hi everyone, I'm kind of a newbie with PHP so please bear with me. I would like to know if there was an effective way of debugging PHP code so that I don't have to have debugging messages display on the browser. For example, I find var_dump and print_r functions to be excellent for debugging variables, function calls and arrays respectively. The problem is I have been asked to debug code on a live site (no dev site, I know it is a horrible practice but this is not my project from the start.) So I would like to know what core function or php library or whatever else it is that I could use to log debugging calls in to log that I can check so I don't have to send debugging calls to the browser on a live site? I like the way you can use the console.log function in JavaScript code and check it in Firebug or the Webkit Console and I also like like the console window in Xcode and I was wondering if there was some similar tool for PHP debugging. Any extra info and pearls of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, racl101.

I try to access that mechine from the external port, and forwarded by solaris 11 mechine to that machine using the ip filter.     This may well be impossible; either way I'm sure people here will know. I'm trying to reduce three "OK" prompts to two. As part of my application, users will download and run an executable I supply; call it privileged.exe. privileged.exe will have a coda that asks for the highest privileges available. That's two OK prompts, one to run privileged.exe and one for UAC. I'd like privileged.exe to then install an ActiveX control, browser plugin or some such. The purpose of this ActiveX control is to allow the JavaScript running inside the browser to talk to the running privileged.exe process, to allow the user to perform certain operations that require high privileges by making choices in the browser. And I'd ideally like this to happen without the user having to restart their browser or explicitly OK the installation of the ActiveX control. Is that possible? Can you install an ActiveX control from outside the browser in such a way that it becomes immediately available to pages running inside the browser? Or should I give up, and allow the user to be explicitly prompted to install the ActiveX control?

  • How can a link within a WebView load another layout using javascript?

    So I have 2 layout files (main.xml, featured.xml) and both each have a single WebView. When the application starts "main.xml" loads a html file into it's WebView. In this html file I have a link that calls javascript that runs code in the Activity that loaded the html. Once back in this Activity code though I try running setContentView(R.layout.featured) but it just bombs out on me. If I debug it just dies without any real error and if I run it the application just Force closes.   • SIFR, JAVASCRIPT & PHP - How to apply SIFR to dynamically loaded content.

    Well here's the problem: I have a PHP index page which uses show/hide layers javascript. I am using the on menu.click function to show and hide content relevant to each menu. On.click all divs are hidden except the content for that menu item , which fades in. The content relating to each menu item are displayed within separate DIVS. The property is applied to all the text within all the divs. See: http://jobe-group.com/jobeco/uk/2010live/dynamic/content/index.php# The trouble is that SIFR only appears to be applied to the displayed on.load when the page is first loaded. When this is hidden and the other s shown through the "show" function they load in classic CSS fonts without the SIFR applied. Is this unavoidable with the SIFR setup. Or am I not calling the divs properly. I have set the SIFR to apply to the selector and indeed it works fine on the for the displayed on load. It doesn't work for the within other . In theory I would think its possible to load the SIFR on all divs on page.load even if those divs are presently visibility:hidden. What's the verdict on this? Hope someone can help. Cheers, John

    I am trying to troubleshoot this code and am running into a dead-end, so I thought I would ask my first question here. I have three questions: 1) What is the best approach to embed an mp4 for an iPhone specific view, preferably without using Javascript? 2) Are there any preferred practices to debug code on an iPhone? 3) Can anyone tell me what is wrong with my specific code below? I should mention upfront that the variable $fileName does indeed contain the correct info, I've just omitted that portion of the code. Also, the poster image does flicker for a brief moment before I receive the greyed out, broken QuickTime image so that is an indication that this is partially working.   • What are the javascript performance tradeoffs in adding id's to dom elements?

    For example, I have a website which has a dynamically-generated segment of its dom which looks roughly like this: <div id="master"> <div class="child"> ... </div> <div class="child"> ... </div> <div class="child"> ... </div> ... <div class="child"> ... </div> </div> There might be hundreds of child elements in this manner, and they, too, might have yet more children. At present, none of them have id's except for the master. Javascript manipulates them via dom-walking. It's a little scary. I'd like to add id's, e.g.: <div id="master"> <div id="child1" class="child"> ... </div> <div id="child2" class="child"> ... </div> <div id="child3" class="child"> ... </div> ... <div id="childN" class="child"> ... </div> </div> What are the tradeoffs in adding id's to these divs? Certainly, jQuery must maintain a hash of id's, so there's going to be some sort of performance hit. Any general guidelines in when adding additional id's is a bad idea? Is jQuery so awesome that, in practice, it doesn't matter?

  • How do I force MyEclipse to hot-deploy a JavaScript file to my JBoss instance?

    I'm having trouble with MyEclipse 7.1.1 hot-deployment of files to my JBoss 4 server. The problem is this: while my server is running, I can make changes to various JAVA and HTML files, which are then hot-deployed immediately (I can see the changes reflected in my browser when I refresh the page). However, while working on a particular JavaScript file, my changes are not being hot-deployed. This makes it very difficult to work on and debug this file, since I have to stop my server, redeploy, and start it again each time I make changes. This is a new problem - it didn't used to happen with this file, so I think something got screwed up in my MyEclipse configuration. I've verified that my projects (JBoss 4 instances) are all set up in "Exploded" mode for hot-deployment. I'm also 99% sure that this isn't an issue with my browser, since I always refresh with CTRL+F5, and I've tried a number of things like clearing my browser cache to get the currently deployed version of the file. I've also tried doing a "clean" on the project while the server is running, and that didn't force a deployment either. Any sort of solution would be helpful. I'd love for MyEclipse to deploy the file automatically, but I'm also open to manually forcing hot-deployment of this particular file while I work on it. Thank you.

    I'm getting tired of waking up to my computer being turned on, and event log shows that it's waking up everyday at 3:40am and most times won't go back to sleep after the determined 30 minutes (maybe from being in the lock screen?). There are no devices armed for wake, activation timers are disabled and all wake options disabled in the BIOS and energy star 4.0c is enabled (was disabled before but no difference).

    hi all, I'm trying to understand some of the basics of web servers/html/javasacript etc. I'm not interested in any of the various frameworks like php/asp, i'm just trying to get a low level look at things (for now). At the moment I'm trying to understand how data can be sent to/saved on the backend, but i must admit that i'm getting a bit lost under the various specs/technical stuff on w3 at the moment! If I have some data, say xml, that I want to save on the backend how do I go about it? I assume that I would have to use something like an HTTP PUT or POST Request to an html doc that contains some javascript that in turn would process the data, e.g. save it somewhere. Now from googling around I can see that this doesn't seem to be the case, so my assumptions are completely wrong! So how is it done? Can it be done, or do I have to use something like php or asp? TIA. bg

    This article serves as the manual for the free Windows Phone 7 app called "Translator by Moth". The app is available from the following link (browse the link on your Window Phone 7 phone, or from your PC with zune software installed): http://social.zune.net/redirect?type=phoneApp&id=bcd09f8e-8211-e011-9264-00237de2db9e   Startup At startup the app makes a connection to the bing Microsoft Translator service to retrieve the available languages, and also which languages offer playback support (two network calls total). It populates with the results the two list pickers ("from" and "to") on the "current" page. If for whatever reason the network call fails, you are informed via a message box, and the app keeps trying to make a connection every few seconds. When it eventually succeeds, the language pickers on the "current" page get updated. Until it succeeds, the language pickers remain blank and hence no new translations are possible. As you can guess, if the Microsoft Translation service add more languages for textual translation (or enables more for playback) the app will automatically pick those up. "current" page The "current" page is the main page of the app with language pickers, translation boxes and the application bar. Language list pickers The "current" page allows you to pick the "from" and "to" languages, which are populated at start time. Until these language get populated with the results of the network calls, they remain empty and disabled. When enabled, tapping on either of them brings up on a full screen popup the list of languages to pick from, formatted as English Name followed by Native Name (when the latter is known). The "to" list, in addition to the language names, indicates which languages have playback support via a * in front of the language name. When making a selection for the "to" language, and if there is text entered for translation, a translation is performed (so there is no need to tap on the "translate" application bar button). Note that both language choices are remembered between different launches of the application.   text for translation The textbox where you enter the translation is always enabled. When there is nothing entered in it, it displays (centered and in italics) text prompting you to enter some text for translation. When you tap on it, the prompt text disappears and it becomes truly empty, waiting for input via the keyboard that automatically pops up. The text you type is left aligned and not in italic font. The keyboard shows suggestions of text as you type. The keyboard can be dismissed either by tapping somewhere else on the screen, or via tapping on the Windows Phone hardware "back" button, or via taping on the "enter" key. In the latter case (tapping on the "enter" key), if there was text entered and if the "from" language is not blank, a translation is performed (so there is no need to tap on the "translate" application bar button). The last text entered is remembered between application launches. translated text The translated text appears below the "to" language (left aligned in normal font). Until a translation is performed, there is a message in that space informing you of what to expect (translation appearing there). When the "current" page is cleared via the "clear" application bar button, the translated text reverts back to the message. Note a subtle point: when a translation has been performed and subsequently you change the "from" language or the text for translation, the translated text remains in place but is now in italic font (attempting to indicate that it may be out of date). In any case, this text is not remembered between application launches. application bar buttons and menus There are 4 application bar buttons and 4 application bar menus. "translate" button takes the text for translation and translates it to the translated text, via a single network call to the bing Microsoft Translator service. If the network call fails, the user is informed via a message box. The button is disabled when there is no "from" language available or when there is not text for translation entered. "play" button takes the translated text and plays it out loud in a native speaker's voice (of the "to" language), via a single network call to the bing Microsoft Translator service. If the network call fails, the user is informed via a message box. The button is disabled when there is no "to" language available or when there is no translated text available. "clear" button clears any user text entered in the text for translation box and any translation present in the translated text box. If both of those are already empty, the button is disabled. It also stops any playback if there is one in flight. "save" button saves the entire translation ("from" language, "to" language, text for translation, and translated text) to the bottom of the "saved" page (described later), and simultaneously switches to the "saved" page. The button is disabled if there is no translation or the translation is not up to date (i.e. one of the elements have been changed). "swap to and from languages" menu swaps around the "from" and "to" languages. It also takes the translated text and inserts it in the text for translation area. The translated text area becomes blank. The menu is disabled when there is no "from" and "to" language info. "send translation via sms" menu takes the translated text and creates an SMS message containing it. The menu is disabled when there is no translation present. "send translation via email" menu takes the translated text and creates an email message containing it (after you choose which email account you want to use). The menu is disabled when there is no translation present. "about" menu shows the "about" page described later. "saved" page The "saved" page is initially empty. You can add translations to it by translating text on the "current" page and then tapping the application bar "save" button. Once a translation appears in the list, you can read it all offline (both the "from" and "to" text). Thus, you can create your own phrasebook list, which is remembered between application launches (it is stored on your device). To listen to the translation, simply tap on it – this is only available for languages that support playback, as indicated by the * in front of them. The sound is retrieved via a single network call to the bing Microsoft Translator service (if it fails an appropriate message is displayed in a message box). Tap and hold on a saved translation to bring up a context menu with 4 items: "move to top" menu moves the selected item to the top of the saved list (and scrolls there so it is still in view) "copy to current" menu takes the "from" and "to" information (language and text), and populates the "current" page with it (switching at the same time to the current page). This allows you to make tweaks to the translation (text or languages) and potentially save it back as a new item. Note that the action makes a copy of the translation, so you are not actually editing the existing saved translation (which remains intact). "delete" menu deletes the selected translation. "delete all" menu deletes all saved translations from the "saved" page – there is no way to get that info back other than re-entering it, so be cautious. Note: Once playback of a translation has been retrieved via a network call, Windows Phone 7 caches the results. What this means is that as long as you play a saved translation once, it is likely that it will be available to you for some time, even when there is no network connection.   "about" page The "about" page provides some textual information (that you can view in the screenshot) including a link to the creator's blog (that you can follow on your Windows Phone 7 device). Use that link to discover the email for any feedback. Other UI design info As you can see in the screenshots above, "Translator by Moth" has been designed from scratch for Windows Phone 7, using the nice pivot control and application bar. It also supports both portrait and landscape orientations, and looks equally good in both the light and the dark theme. Other than the default black and white colors, it uses the user's chosen accent color (which is blue in the screenshot examples above). Feedback and support Please report (via the email on the blog) any bugs you encounter or opportunities for performance improvements and they will be fixed in the next update.   • How to disable an ASP.NET linkbutton when clicked

    Scenario: User clicks a LinkButton in your ASP.NET page and you want to disable it immediately using javascript so that the user cannot accidentally click it again.  I wrote about disabling a regular submit button here: How to disable an ASP.NET button when clicked.  But the method described in the other blog post does not work for disabling a LinkButton.  This is because the Post Back Event Reference is called using a snippet of javascript from within the href of the anchor tag: <a id="MyContrl_MyButton" href="javascript:__doPostBack('MyContrl$MyButton','')">My Button</a> If you try to add an onclick event to disable the button, even though the button will become disabled, the href will still be allowed to be clicked multiple times (causing duplicate form submissions).  To get around this, in addition to disabling the button in the onclick javascript, you can set the href to “#” to prevent it from doing anything on the page.  You can add this to the LinkButton from your code behind like this: MyButton.Attributes.Add("onclick", "this.href='#';this.disabled=true;" + Page.ClientScript.GetPostBackEventReference(MyButton, "").ToString()); This code adds javascript to set the href to “#” and then disable the button in the onclick event of the LinkButton by appending to the Attributes collection of the ASP.NET LinkButton control.  Then the Post Back Event Reference for the button is called right after disabling the button.  Make sure you add the Post Back Event Reference to the onclick because now that you are changing the anchor href, the button still needs to perform the original postback. With the code above now the button onclick event will look something like this: onclick="this.href='#';this.disabled=true;__doPostBack('MyContrl$MyButton','');" The anchor href is set to “#”, the linkbutton is disabled, AND then the button post back method is called.
