• Which technology should I choose for 3d globe web application

  Hello, i would like to ask you for an advice. I'm currently developing application in Spring consisting of Spring CRUD application as backend, SpringMVC application as tool for management and third part is where my problem lies as I need have application that renders 3d globe which is fed by data from backend from a data set selected by user (user may switch those at will). It has to be web application (though I would prefer not to implement this in flash/flex), composed of two main parts - main part is classic web GUI where user makes his choices and second part is 3d globe which renders the globe with selected set of data visualised. My question is, what do you think is the best option to implement this? Would be SpringMVC framework usable for this kind of application? I will be gratefull for any leads or directions, thank you.

  All, I have an application written in Zend MVC Framework. So, naturally all regular requests and ajax requests go through /public/index.php. I want my application to support maintenance mode. So, in my index.php file, I have the following code: if( Zend_Registry::get('config')->maintenance == 'true' ) { header('Location:/maintenance.php'); } The issue is, when ajax requests are called they render servermaintenance.php inside the page instead of redirecting to this page. How can I make sure it gets redirected instead of getting rendered? Thanks

• OGRE: Non-Standard Resolution

  I am using OGRE to make a re-rendering of the film, which has a wide aspect ratio (around 1.85). The OGRE dialog seems to be showing the standard full screen resolution by default (800/600, 1024/768, etc.), but those obviously have aspect ratios of 1.333 or around that. But as long as I am not running full screen mode, why should I be restricted to these screen sizes only? I can definitely change the viewport size, but that would make it difficult for me to generate the video later. Any idea?

• Visual Studio 2010: Publish minified javascript files instead of the original ones

  I have a Scripts folder, that includes all the .js files used in the project. Using the Ajax Minifier task, I generate .min.js files for each one. Depending on whether the application is running in debug or release mode, I include the original .js file, or the minified one. The Scripts folder looks like this: Scripts/script1.js Scripts/script1.min.js // Outside the project, generated automatically on build Scripts/script2.js Scripts/script2.min.js // Outside the project, generated automatically on build The .min.js files are outside the project (although in the same folder as the original files), and they are not copied into the destination folder when we publish the project. I have no experience whatsoever using build tasks (well, apart from including the minifier task), so I would appreciate if anyone could advise me as to which would be the correct way to: Copy the .min.js files to the destination folder when I publish the app from Visual Studio. Delete / Not copy the original js files (this is not vital, but I'd rather not copy files that will not be used in the app). Thanks,

• Web framework recommendation for python (webservices, auth, cache, ...)

  Hi all, Googling for the past week, but cannot finally decide which python web framework would be right for me. The web app I'm about to develop would be almost completely "pure" html with js (jQuery). Server side would have to do the following: authentication session management caching web services (almost all the on page data would be pulled with jQuery through web services) secured web services (through some form of authentication; this is for remote accessing some of the web services though other web apps, desktop/mobile applications) If there is a good tutorial/guide/idea for how to do this in Django I would be most thankfull if someone could share it as I already have experience with it. The thing that made me start thinking about other frameworks is Django's built in ORM. I know I could swap it with SQLAlchemy, but wouldn't go down that road if I'm not sure all the rest of the requirements is supported. Thanks all in advance.

• Drupal - Getting node id from view to customise link in block

  I got a little problem with Drupal (again) in that I'm trying to work out how I can build a block which is able to show the node ID of the view page the block is currently sitting on. I'm using views to build a large chunk of my site, but I need to be able to make "intelligent" blocks in PHP mode which will have dynamic content depending on what the view is displaying. So.. how can I go about finding the $nid which a view is currently displaying?! Any ideas?

  Hi, I'd like my ASP.NET MVC application to redirect failed requests to matching action methods of a certain controller. This works fine on my development machine running Windows 7, but not on my production machine running Windows 2008 R2. I set up my web.config as follows: <customErrors mode="On" defaultRedirect="/Error/ServerError/500"> <error statusCode="403" redirect="/Error/AccessDenied" /> <error statusCode="404" redirect="/Error/FileNotFound" /> </customErrors> This customErrors section works fine on both of my machines (production and development) for 500 Internal Server errors. It also works fine for 404 errors on my development machine. However, it does not properly redirect 404 errors on the production machine. Instead of /Error/FileNotFound, I get the standard 404 page that comes with IIS 7. What could be the problem here?

  I want to launch a Chromecast app but NOT using the chrome extension or iOS or Android. Doing this from command line. I noticed that you can send a POST to your chromecast, and it will launch an app. For example if I do curl -H “Content-Type: application/json” http://CHROMECAST_IP:8008/apps/YouTube -X POST -d ‘v=oHg5SJYRHA0' Then it will start up youtube. But for some reason I can't do this with custom apps (in dev mode). I thought I'd be able to send a POST to http://CHROMECAST_IP:8008/apps/MY_REGISTERED_APP_ID, but no luck. I just get a 404 response. Hmmm... My app is just a simple webpage (it is not streamed media). I want to run a little headless server that starts my chromecast app everyday via a CRON task. • Why does my Eclipse crash all the time?

  Somehow stupid question, I have to admit - hope it won't cost me too many points. To make it clear: I would also be happy if you can help me find the reason for the crashes. I wouldn't expect a precise answer. However, I don't see why my Eclipse is crashing (freezing) all the time. Mostly when I save a file. For some reason, crashes seem to increase lately... I use Eclipse Helios (Version: 3.6.1) and java version "1.6.0_20" (OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.9.2) (6b20-1.9.2-0ubuntu2) OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 19.0-b09, mixed mode)) on Ubuntu 10.10 (64-Bit). The problem is the selected item is not returning me the Text of the TextBlock within the ComboBox and is instead returning "System.Windows.Controls.TextBlock". • Tracing or Logging Resource Governor classification function behavior in Sql Server 2008

  I'm trying to use the Resource Governor in SQL Server 2008 but I find it hard to debug the classification function and figure out what the input variables will have, i.e. does SUSER_NAME() contain the domain name? What does the APP_NAME() string look like? It's also hard to verify that it's working correctly. What group did the function return? The only way I can see this is to fire up the performance monitor and watch unblinkingly for little blips in the right CPU counter. Is there some way I can either run it in Debug mode, where I can set a breakpoint and step through and look at variable values, or can I at least do the old-school method of writing trace statements to a file so I can see what's going on? • GameKit server disconnect makes session invalid

  Hi everyone, I'm trying to build a 4 player multiplayer game using GameKit. I tried many things and I'm currently using client/server mode, meaning that I have 1 session in GKSessionModeServer and 3 other sessions connecting to this one in GKSessionModeClient. My goal is, that when a user leaves the game or gets disconnected for whatever reason, that the others can continue their game. So far this works if any of the Clients leave the game, but if the Sevrer leaves the game, send and receive calls are not reaching the other peers anymore. I tried the same with 4 peers in GKSessionModePeer with the same result (where the player who accepts connections cannot quit). Does anyone had better success in making this work? Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks!

• Autounattend.xml not being recognized in VirtualBox

  I am working my way through the steps on this page to prepare an unattended installation of Windows 7 Enterprise x64 for purposes of a college assignment which simply requires the process to be carried out and documented. Both the "technician" and "reference" computers are virtual machines created in VirtualBox 4.3.12, as will be the destination computer. I seem to have successfully completed Step 1, building an Autounattend.xml answer file using Windows System Image Manager, in as far as the answer file validates successfully. The problem arises when I try to install Windows on the reference machine from the DVD image in conjunction with the Autounattend file on a USB drive. I have tried a couple of different USB devices, and the devices themselves seem to be recognized, but the answer file does not, as instead of taking the configuration settings from the file the user interface appears as in a manual installation. Has anyone come across this problem or a solution?   Hello all! I'm new here. I've got a question related to PHP, FTP and CURL. I need to emulate PHP's stat() with CURL FTP. I already know that it may take more than one command to do it. Here's what I've got so far (PHP/STAT ... FTP/CURL): dev ino mode ... LIST * nlink uid ... LIST * gid ... LIST * rdev size ... SIZE (or better still, use from LIST) atime mtime ... MDTM ctime blksize blocks *How is FTP LIST used and parsed (preferably on a single file)? What I need most are the values for atime and ctime, there rest is to be filled for the sake of having full functionality. My end goal is to have a class for proper FTP access with streamWrapper functionality (so as to bypass allow_url_fopen). Cheers!

• Data Warehouse: One Database or many?

  At my new company, they keep all data associated with the data warehouse, including import, staging, audit, dimension and fact tables, together in the same physical database. I've been a database developer for a number of years now and this consolidation of function and form seems counter to everything I know. It seems to make security, backup/restore and performance management issues more manually intensive. Is this something that is done in the industry? Are there substantial reasons for doing or not doing it? The platform is Netezza. The size is in terabytes, hundreds of millions of rows. What I'm looking to get from answers to this question is a solid understanding of how right or wrong this path is. From your experience, what are the issues I should be focused on arguing if this is a path that will cause trouble for us down the road. If it is no big deal, then I'd like to know that as well.
