  • How many results were returned?

    - by Pastor Bones
    I'm performing a query on a worksheet. I want to update the row if it exists or insert it if it doesn't. How can you check if a result was returned or not? $query = new Zend_Gdata_Spreadsheets_ListQuery(); $query->setSpreadsheetKey($this->currKey); $query->setWorksheetId($this->currWkshtId); $query->setSpreadsheetQuery('cid = ' . $data['cid']); $listFeed = $this->gdClient->getListFeed($query); // This does not work! if(empty($listFeed)){ echo 'No results found!'; }

  • How do I add on multiple $_POST['row'] and variables?

    - by Ralph The Mouf
    I am struggling to find out the syntactically correct way in which to add on more variables and rows to these statements: /* WANT TO ADD ON FIVE MORE $_POST[''] */ if(isset($_POST['check_prof']) && $_POST['check_prof'] == 'checked') { $check_prof = "checked"; }else{ $check_prof = "unchecked"; } /* SAME HERE, WANT TO ADD THE OTHER FIVE IN HERE AS WELL */ $query = "UPDATE `Users` SET `check_prof` = '" . $check_prof . "' WHERE `id` = '" . $auth->id . "' LIMIT 1"; mysql_query($query,$connection); $auth->refresh(); }

  • which one is a faster/better sql practice?

    - by artsince
Suppose I have a 2 column table (id, flag) and id is sequential. I expect this table to contain a lot of records. I want to periodically select the first row not flagged and update it. Some of the records on the way may have already been flagged, so I want to skip them. Does it make more sense if I store the last id I flagged and use it in my select statement, like select * from mytable where id > my_last_id order by id asc limit 1 or simply get the first unflagged row, like: select * from mytable where flagged = 'F' order by id asc limit 1 Thank you!

  • Birthday effect - clarification needed plz.

    - by Mark
Please help interpret the Birthday effect as described in Wikipedia: A birthday attack works as follows: 1) Pick any message m and compute h(m). 2) Update list L. Check if h(m) is in the list L. 3) if (h(m),m) is already in L, a colliding message pair has been found. else save the pair (h(m),m) in the list L and go back to step 1. From the birthday paradox we know that we can expect to find a matching entry, after performing about 2^(n/2) hash evaluations. Does the above mean 2^(n/2) iterations through the above entire loop (i.e. 2^(n/2) returns to step 1), OR does it mean 2^(n/2) comparisons to individual items already in L.

  • Using a database with C#

    - by Mike
I have been trying to do something that I think would be really easy but have never used C# before and am having trouble with the details. I simple want to use a sql database with Visual C# Express 2008. For testing purposes I have a datagrid on my form that can reflect changes to the db. If i use this: codesTableAdapter.Fill(dataSet1.codes); The datagrid(dataset) will fill with the info from the sql database. If i then do something like this: codesTableAdapter.InsertQuery(txtCode.Text,txtName.Text); codesTableAdapter.Fill(dataSet1.codes); codesTableAdapter.Update(dataSet1); dataSet1.AcceptChanges(); The datagrid reflects the changes but if close the program and go to the database the changes are not there. When I open the program again the changes are not there. I have a feeling this isn't too clear as my understanding here is very low so please let me know what other info is needed. Thanks

  • Why isn't this message subject encoded properly? (php mail)

    - by Camran
I use this code to send an email: $headers="MIME-Version: 1.0"."\n"; $headers.="Content-type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8"."\n"; $headers.="From: $name <$email>"."\n"; mail($to, '=?UTF-8?B?'.base64_encode($subject).'?=', $text, $headers, '[email protected]'); If I use special characters Å Ä Ö from the swedish alphabet, they are not encoded properly, so they turn up like ö for ö. However, this doesn't happen if I change the $to variable to a gmail account email, then they are shown correctly. Anybody got any idea? Thanks UPDATE: When I echo $name, the name is displayed correctly, in utf8, with all special chars nicely shown.

  • Git pull: error: Entry foo not uptodate. Cannot merge.

    - by yuit
I'm trying to update my repo from a remote branch and keep getting this error when I do a "git pull". I haven't made any local changes, and even if I have I don't need to keep them. I've tried: git reset --hard and I get the same problem The only thing that seems to work is deleting the offending file and try a git pull again. I've also tried "git stash" followed by a "git pull". No go. edit: using PortableGit-1.6.4-preview20090729 so any previous bugs with spurious errors should be fixed.

  • CSS Question - Any way to set (eg. a font-size) to a group of styles, by linking the style to anothe

    - by Joe
.small_fonts{ font-size:10px; } .fonts_blue{ color:blue; } .fonts_red{ color:red; } .fonts_green{ color:green; } Any way to apply "small_fonts" to each of the "fonts_blue, _red, _green" w/o doing this: .fonts_blue, fonts_red, fonts_green { font-size:10px; } I am just trying to update my css to be more organized. I realised I don't need to define the font-size for each of the "small" fonts. When adding the class btw... I know you can do this: class="small_fonts fonts_blue" ~ however I'm talking about combining within the css stylesheet

  • Free US sales-tax lookup (per zip etc.)?

    - by Shimmy
I am creating a pricing program. I need to calculate the amounts according to the current tax list in the US (in various places). I want to have a button 'Update taxes' in the administrative settings of the application, so when the user clicks it, it should download from somewhere the active tax amounts. So I actually want to have a function decimal GetTax(string zip). Does anyone knows about a free downloadable xml, or RSS accessible or even a website that I can crawle in and get this info from?

  • Drupal vs Some Other CMS

    - by Vecta
I'm going to be moving my website to a CMS in the coming months I'd I need some help on choosing an appropriate CMS. Many of the websites I've seen tend to say "use Drupal, hands down". However, my website truly doesn't have a need for commenting or community features. Its pages will need to be modified occasionally, but not extensively. My website will also consist of many programs, each with their own sub-pages and menus. There are probably 25 people that will need access to the content on my website and will need the ability to update it. I do like the idea of being able to tag and categorize the content, and the modular aspect of Drupal but is it really right for my website? If not, which CMS may fit my needs better?

  • db2 stored procedure. locking / releasing table

I use a stored procedure to read/update/return certain fields in a journaled as400 table. I want to lock the table first and then release it after the record is updated. I tried tons of stuff, but releasing table is a problem. SP defines and opens cursor, selects record into variables and updates the record. I tried 'begin atomic', then lock table in exclusive mode and then when it's over, it doesn't release. Is there any statement i missing or do i need to compile it with certain parameters? I use a simple create procedure statement in AS400 navigator's sql panel to compile it. Will very appreciate some help with example. Thanks.

  • How to get the value of a textbox modified by asp.net ajax from client side(by javascript)?

    - by Aaron
I have a textbox in a asp.net update control. When I click a button on the webpage, the value of this textbox got modified. And I want to use javascript to get the modified value. The code I use was: var kmlString = document.getElementById('<%=TextBox1.ClientID%>').getAttribute("value"); It only got the original value of my textbox. I am wondering how can I get the latest value of the textbox through javascript. The browsers I intent to use is Firefox and Safari. So it would be great if the script can work for both browsers. Thanks very much!

  • JQuery .get() only passing first two data parameters in url

    - by The.Anti.9
I have a $.get() call to a PHP page that takes 4 GET parameters. For some reason, despite giving the $.get() call all 4, it only passes the first two. When I look at the dev console in chrome, it shows the URL that gets called, and it only passes action and dbname. Heres the code: $.get('util/util.php', { action: 'start', dbname: db, url: starturl, crawldepth: depth }, function(data) { if (data == 'true') { status = 1; $('#0').append(starturl + "<ul></ul>"); $('#gobutton').hide(); $('#loading').show("slow"); while(status == 1) { setTimeout("update()",10000); } } else { show_error("Form data incomplete!"); } }); and heres the URL that I see in the developer console: http://localhost/pci/util/util.php?action=start&dbname=1hkxorr9ve1kuap2.db

  • In linux, is it possible to do partial reads on a regular file

    - by Jimm
I need to write an application that spits out log entries to a regular file at a very fast rate. Also, there will be another process, that can read the same file concurrently at the time, other process would be writing to it. I have following questions How does read() determine EOF, specially in the case, where the underlying file could be concurrently being modified? Is it possible for read() to return partially written data from the other process write? For example, the write process wrote half a line and read would pick that half line and return? The application would be written in C on linux 2.6.x using Ex4 filesystem UPDATE: Below link points to the patch, that locks inode in EXT4, before reading and writing. http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/91834/

  • Call OnDraw in another method, then "refresh" that call in ANOTHER method.

    - by Aidan
Hey guys, Hopefully this will actually make sense and sorry if its a stupid / obvious question. Basically I'm calling the onDraw method like so... requestWindowFeature(Window.FEATURE_NO_TITLE); Preview mPreview = new Preview(this); DrawOnTop mDraw = new DrawOnTop(this); setContentView(mPreview); addContentView(mDraw, new LayoutParams (LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT, LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT)); You see I'm drawing it on top of a Camera view and the information being drawn is subject to change. I have a listener setup which will update the variables being drawn at the appropriate time but I now want to "refresh" this draw in that listener. How would I do such a thing?

  • Count of Distinct Int32 Values in .NET

    - by Eric J.
I am receiving a stream of unordered Int32 values and need to track the count of distinct values that I receive. My thought is to add the Int32 values into a HashSet<Int32>. Duplicate entries will simply not be added per the behavior of HashSet. Do I understand correctly that set membership is based on GetHashCode() and that the hash code of an Int32 is the number itself? Is there an approach that is either more CPU or more memory efficient? UPDATE The data stream is rather large. Simply using Linq to iterate the stream to get the distinct count is not what I'm after, since that would involve iterating the stream a second time.

  • Can someone please clarify the Birthday Effect for me?

    - by Mark
Please help interpret the Birthday effect as described in Wikipedia: A birthday attack works as follows: Pick any message m and compute h(m). Update list L. Check if h(m) is in the list L. if (h(m),m) is already in L, a colliding message pair has been found. else save the pair (h(m),m) in the list L and go back to step 1.

  • Rails: updating an item along with associated items

    - by shmichael
Suppose I have a simple to-do list application. The application contains two models: lists (have an owner and description) items (have name and due-date) that belong to a specific list I would like to have a single edit screen for a list in which I update the list attributes (such as description) and also create/delete/modify associated items. There should be a single "save" button that will commit all changes. Unless save is pressed, any change to the list and the items should be forgotten. I wasn't able to find an elegant best practice for this. Would greatly appreciate any suggestions and/or references to existing implementations.

  • Empty array (which's not empty)

    - by Brut4lity
while($row = mysql_fetch_row($result)){ preg_match('#<span id="lblNumerZgloszenia" style="font-weight:bold;font-style:italic;">([^<]*)<\/span>#',$row[1],$matches); $query2 = 'UPDATE content_pl SET kategoria_data='.$matches[1].' WHERE id='.$row[0].';'; mysql_query($query2); } I'm doing this preg_match to get the span contents into $matches array. When I do a print_r($matches), it shows the right results but when I use $matches[1], it browser tells me that there is no such index.

  • How do submit an object to a struts2 action using jQuery?

    - by James Drinkard
I have an object that I'm populating from a selection off a table row that a user selects. I have a jQuery function that captures the click event and a hidden form field populates an id I need. However, I'm not sure as to the proper way to send off that object to a struts2 action? I tried using this: $(function() { $('#tbl tr').click(function() { var id = $(this).closest('tr').find('input:hidden').val(); var page = "<s:url action='update/deleteInfo.action'/>?model.isDelete=true&model.info.id=id"; console.log(page); window.location.href=(page); }); }); The model object has an isDelete boolean variable and the model has a nested info object that has an id variable with getter/setters. However, when I send this across, the model object isn't populated with these entries. Is there a way to do this or a better way than the url tag?

  • Cakephp 1.3 JsHelper for AjaxHelper

    - by erick2red
Hi: I'm start using cakephp and i made a demo app using AjaxHelper $ajax->link('title', 'url', array('update' => 'mydiv')) Now i want to migrate that to cakephp 1.3 and AjaxHelper is deprecated on cake 1.3 and will be removed, so i want to accomplish the same with JsHelper which is replacing the functionality of AjaxHelper and JavascriptHelper I just can't find how to do that. I want to upgrade the versions to use jQuery out of the box with cakephp 1.3 and get rid of Prototype javascript library. so, any help ? I've already read the migration guide and nothing found yet.
