    I am using 3.5 framework of VB.NET 2008. I have some textboxes in my form. I want the tab like behavior when my user presses ENTER on one of my textboxes.   • Use the serialVersionUID or suppress warnings?

    Dear all, first thing to note is the serialVersionUID of a class implementing Interface Serializable is not in question. What if we create a class that for example extends HttpServlet? It also should have a serialVersionUID. If someone knows that this object will never be serialized should he define it or add an annotation to suppress those warnings? What would you do and why?   • Indirect load of type fails in PowerShell

    When invoking [System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager]::GetSection("MySection") from within a PowerShell prompt, it throws an exception because the assembly containing the type represented by "MySection" in the app config is unable to be loaded. However, I have previously loaded the assembly containing that type, and I am even able to instantiate the type directly using 'new-object'. How is the ConfigurationManager resolving types such that the assemblies already loaded into the PowerShell app domain are not visible to it?

  • Horizontal scrolling in a wx.RichTextCtrl

    I have a RichTextCtrl created as follows: self.userlist = wx.richtext.RichTextCtrl(self, style=wx.TE_MULTILINE|wx.TE_READONLY|wx.HSCROLL) It all works fine, except for the wx.HSCROLL style. If I change the RichTextCtrl to a regular TextCtrl, it correctly horizontal scrolls on long lines, rather than wrapping, but on the RichTextCtrl it wraps regardless. Is there an easy way to make it scroll horizontally? (I do, unfortunately, need the RichTextCtrl's featureset for this object.)

    We are facing the following problem in a Spring service, in a multi-threaded environment: three lists are freely and independently accessed for Read once in a while (every 5 minutes), they are all updated to new values. There are some dependencies between the lists, making that, for instance, the third one should not be read while the second one is being updated and the first one already has new values ; that would break the three lists consistency. My initial idea is to make a container object having the three lists as properties. Then the synchronization would be first on that object, then one by one on each of the three lists.   • Why doesn't TextBlock databinding call ToString() on a property whose compile-time type is an interf

    This started with weird behaviour that I thought was tied to my implementation of ToString(), and I asked this question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2916068/why-wont-wpf-databindings-show-text-when-tostring-has-a-collaborating-object It turns out to have nothing to do with collaborators and is reproducible. When I bind Label.Content to a property of the DataContext that is declared as an interface type, ToString() is called on the runtime object and the label displays the result. When I bind TextBlock.Text to the same property, ToString() is never called and nothing is displayed. But, if I change the declared property to a concrete implementation of the interface, it works as expected. Is this somehow by design? If so, any idea why?     I read On most operating systems, the addresses in memory starts from highest to lowest. So I am wondering if the heap, stack, and global memory all fall under the same ordering..? If I created... pointerType* pointer = new pointerType //creates memory address 0xffffff And then created a local varible on the stack localObject object would localObjects address be 0xfffffe Or is heap and stack ordering completely different.

You can't do a decorate design pattern if: 1) The object is marked "sealed" meaning you can't extend from it. 2) or you want to override a method but its not virtual. What can you do then? Taken that you can't change the class source code if you don't have the source code (like a 3rd party library).
