  • Google App Engine/GWT/Eclipse Plugin Newbie Question- how to autobuild client side resources?

    Hi there, I'm tinkering with the default GWT application generated by the Google Eclipse plugin when I click the Google "New Web Application Project" button in Eclipse 3.5. This will no doubt be familiar to many of you.. basically there is an h1 title stating "Web Application Starter Project," a text field, and a Send button. What I've found is that whenever I make changes to the client side resources, e.g. change the text on the Send button to "Submit" in the .java file, Eclipse does not appear to autobuild these resources. In fact I have to rebuild the entire project in order for these changes to be reflected in my browser. I do have "build automatically" selected in eclipse. I should state that this is my second GWT project, the first was almost entirely server side (restlet on GAE) and everything built automatically nicely. When I first tried this new project with updated client resources, on refreshing my browser, the browser stated "you may need to (re)compile your project." I'm not sure if this is relevant but I thought I'd mention it all the same. So what's going on? How do I get Eclipse/GWT to autobuild these client side resources?   • App Engine List<String> DB adds chars before string?

    Hi, I have a field in my db which is a List. I add strings to that list and it works fine on the development server. This is the result: [mat12, bg10] When I do the same on the deploy server, this is the result: [u'mat12', u'bg10'] I don't understand why it adds "u' '" to the string. (private, public), I see no way of getting them...

  • How can I get sessions to work if I'm using Google App Engine + Django 1.1?

    Is there a way for me to get sessions working? I know Django has built in session management, and GAE has some tools for it if you're using their watered down version of Django 0.96, but is there a way to get sessions to work if you're trying to use GAE w/ Django 1.1 (i.e. use_library() call). I assume using a db-backed session doesn't work, and a file system backed one won't work b/c we don't have access to the filesystem if we deploy to the Google production servers. This kinda worked (as in didn't crap out) when I used SessionMiddleware backed by a local-memory backed cache and a non-persistent cache (i.e. setting SESSION_ENGINE to django.contrib.sessions.backends.cache). But the session never seems to persist in this case, no matter how I set the timeouts. A new session key is generated on every page reload. Maybe this is b/c the GAE assumes complete statelessness with each request and blows away my local cache? Apologies in advance, I'm pretty new to Python. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

In this app first you need to unlock your app then only u can uninstall it. So please help me how to crack this technique.. I searched and got some incomplete answer in that we can declare a receiver of type PACKAGED_REMOVED but i want to know how can I stop if my app is being uninstalled.   • Works on development server but it doesn't on Google App Engine (Sessions).

    Hi, I have this code that works just fine on the development server but when I deploy the application, the session isn't created. What am I doing wrong? HttpSession session = req.getSession(true); session.setAttribute("loggedIn", new String("true")); Edit: The sessions are enabled. What I realized now is that the _ah_SESSION variable is not being created, not even on the development server (although it works).

  • Unable to create new virtual hosts using MAMP with OSX Mavericks

    I have been using virtual hosts on my Mac with MAMP, which has worked up until now. I have 2 working virtual hosts that i created in the same manner, which still work, but for some reason I am unable to create any new virtual hosts. When i attempt to go to a newly crated virtual host in my browser it generates a 404 Not Found error. The only thing i can think of possibly after i updated OSX to Mavericks, but i'm not sure what that would have done, or why the old virtual hosts still work. See excerpt below from vhosts.conf file.   • Linux RAID: Replacing Failed Drive...permanantly

    Okay, odd question here. I have a server with RAID 5. A drive failed, in a really physically in a really odd way. On the machine it boots and is seen by the BIOS but...no partition can be seen on the drive consistantly (in and out). 2 out of 3 drives working...I made new spare disk and added it, RAID 5 rebuilt clean. All appears well but...when I reboot it keeps trying to use the 2nd drive which doesn't give any partition data, so of course the RAID 5 gets 2 out of 3...again. The status of my drive is as follows: /dev/sda2:Good /dev/sdb2 (drive has physical problem so no partition data) bad, /dev/sdc2:good /dev/sdd2:good. Every time I reboot the mdadm system seems to keep trying to use /dev/sdb which has physical failure (although spins and is detected). /dev/sdd is the new drive I created. I added /dev/sdd to the raid and it rebuilds the raid but this action isn't memorized upon reboot so it keeps listing /dev/sda and /dev/sdc but doesn't use the perfectly good /dev/sdd until I re-add manually. I've tried removing the dead drive with the mdadm tool, but as it cannot see /dev/sdb paritions it will not fail or remove it (says partition doesn't exist). the /etc/mdadm.conf was automatically made on the original OS install which only lists: DEVICE partitions MAILADDR root ARRAY /dev/md2 super-minor=2 ARRAY /dev/md0 super-minor=0 ARRAY /dev/md1 super-minor=1 Basically just the raids to use on boot. I need to remove this semi-dead drive (/dev/sdb) but I'd prefer to know why this is happening before I do. any ideas or suggestions. I supposed I could attempt to clone/replace /dev/sdb (the partitions on drive show up, then disappear shortly after) but given the partition "chester cat" behaviour this seems risky to me and as I have a working "spare" it seems unnecessary. Is it perceived that Java/enterprise applications are more difficult, thus the programmers get a higher salary?

  • Problems building application for Ubuntu App Showdown

    I have managed to submit my source application to the Ubuntu build servers, however it's not building. This is the build output: https://launchpadlibrarian.net/109592385/buildlog_ubuntu-precise-i386.liberedit_12.07.20_FAILEDTOBUILD.txt.gz I know that there is a dependency on lxml for my application but I don't know how to correct that, but I can also see that it's failing to find my own python modules. I am not sure what is going on in it's entirety here, but I would greatly appreciate getting this to build so I can submit it to the Ubuntu App Showdown. Thanks, Neil
