• How to do steps of an API through CLI/ batch mode without GUI

  I'm using Audiveris API to generate xml(MusicXML) file once the sheetmusic(e.g. pdf/img file) is being input (i.e. When I give the sheet music (pdf file) location, to generate the xml file out of it (in another location)). Audiveris has its own GUI to do this. But can I do this process of sheetmusic-to-xml without using their GUI, but only from the CLI? If so how may I approach it? And also if so - is there a possibility to make it work in CLI - using Java code (say to invoke steps for API to occur in the CLI using Java Code - I've heard this is possible using shell commands)? I managed to open the GUI by opening the jar file from CLI. But I need to know whether there's a possibility to carry out the entire sheetmusic(say pdf)-to-xml process without using their GUI, but only through CLI (i.e. in batch mode)? Greatly appreciate any help or guidance Thanks in advance

• Visual Studio project remains "stuck" when stopped

  Hi, Currently developing a connector DLL to HP's Quality Center. I'm using their (insert expelative) COM API to connect to the server. An Interop wrapper gets created automatically by VStudio. My solution has 2 projects: the DLL and a tester application - essentially a form with buttons that call functions in the DLL. Everything works well - I can create defects, update them and delete them. When I close the main form, the application stops nicely. But when I call a function that returns a list of all available projects (to fill a combo box), if I close the main form, VStudio still shows the solution as running and I have to stop it. I've managed to pinpoint a single function in my code that when I call, the solution remains "hung" and if I don't, it closes well. It's a call to a property in the TDC object get_VisibleProjects that returns a List (not the .Net one, but a type in the COM library) - I just iterate over it and return a proper list (that I later use to fill the combo box): public List<string> GetAvailableProjects() { List<string> projects = new List<string>(); foreach (string project in this.tdc.get_VisibleProjects(qcDomain)) { projects.Add(project); } return projects; } My assumption is that something gets retained in memory. If I run the EXE outside of VStudio it closes - but who knows what gets left behind in memory? My question is - how do I get rid of whatever calling this property returns? Shouldn't the GC handle this? Do I need to delve into pointers? Things I've tried: getting the list into a variable and setting it to null at the end of the function Adding a destructor to the class and nulling the tdc object Stepping through the tester function application all the way out, whne the form closes and the Main function ends - it closes, but VStudio still shows I'm running. • C# Virtual Mode List View Click 1 Selects More Than One Items

  I have a list view with virtual mode set to true and other things. It doing ok. But 1) Say there are 25 items and 15 of them are visible, that is to see the rest of 10 items need to scroll down. 2) Before scrolling swap two items, say myItems[0], it must be visible & myItems[20], it must be not visible scroll required. 3) Now select the first item, it was swapped, you now have two items selected, both 0 indexed and 20 indexed ones. When after swap, those two list view items are of same Position and same Bounds. But before 20-indexed item's Position was (-1, -1) and Bounds was (0,0,0,0). How come 0-indexed item didn't change its position & size? How to solve this ?

Instead of the usual: dbg:tpl(Module, Function, dbg:fun2ms(fun(_) -> exception_trace() end)). I'm actually wondering if a similar short form is available for return_trace(). Something like: dbg:tpl(Module, Function, r). Instead of: dbg:tpl(Module, Function, dbg:fun2ms(fun(_) -> return_trace() end)). The source code in the dbg module seems to suggest not: new_pattern_table() -> PT = ets:new(dbg_tab, [ordered_set, public]), ets:insert(PT, {x, term_to_binary([{'_',[],[{exception_trace}]}])}), ets:insert(PT, {exception_trace, term_to_binary(x)}), PT. But I might be wrong. Do you know of any?

  For deubgging some process I will need to download the PDB files for some operating system dll files (OLE32, NTDLL, etc.) That server is not connected to the internet. I know the following method to get the PDB. Get full dump of the process Copy the dump to another machine where internet connection is available Use .reload to download the PDB files Copy the PDB files from the local PDB store Is there any thing more simple or do I have to go through the dumping process?   Is there a way to know what parameters are needed by an event in Visual Studio 2010? Let's say I have a DropDownList control and I want to bind a method to the "OnSelectedIndexChanged", I would do something like this In the ASPX File: <asp:DropDownList ID="lstMyList" runat="server" OnSelectedIndexChanged="lstMyList_SelectedIndexChanged"></asp:DropDownList> In the codebehind: protected void lstMyList_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { ... } Is there a way to know what parameters the method needs? (In this case, an object for the sender and an EventArgs parameter for the event.) I know you can easily create the method by double-clicking the right event in Design Mode, but it does a mess with your code so I prefer not to use it. Thanks!

  Is there a way to configure the directory where core dump files are placed for a specific process? I have a daemon process written in C++ for which I would like to configure the core dump directory. Optionally the filename pattern should be configurable, too. I know about /proc/sys/kernel/core_name_format, however this would change the pattern and directory structure globally. Apache has the directive CoreDumpDirectory - so it seems to be possible.

• Can I get the IE debugger to break into long-running javascript

  I have a page that has a byzantine amount of javascript running. In IE only, and only version 8, I get a long-script warning that I can reliably reproduce. I suspect it is event handlers triggering themselves in an infinite loop. The Developer Tools are limping horribly under the weight of the script running, but I do seem to be able to get the log to tell me what line of script it was executing when I aborted, but it is inevitably some of the deep plumbing of the ExtJS code we use, and I can't tell where it is in my stack of code. A way of seeing the call stack would work, but preferably I'd like to be able to just break into the debugger when I get the long script warning so I can just step through the stack. There is a similar question posted, but the answers given were for a not-the-right-tool, or the not terribly helpful advice to eliminate half my code at a time on a binary hunt for the infinite loop. If my code were simple enough that I could do that, it probably wouldn't have gotten the infinite loop in the first place. If I could reproduce the problem in firebug, I'd probably be a lot happier too.

  Hello, everyone. I'd like to ask, can compiler(e.g. Visual C++) generate a report(.txt) telling struct member offset for a struct/all structs? If so, it helps debugging quite a lot. For example, when you read disassembler code in the debugger, it can be easier to associate an offset value to a struct member. Also, it is better to have compiler report offset of each local variable on a function stack frame(e.g. the offset relative to ebp on an X86 machine). Thank you in advance.

  I know that in StructureMap I can read from my *.config files (or files referenced by them), when I want to pass specific arguments to an object's constructor. ForRequestedType<IConfiguration>() .TheDefault.Is.OfConcreteType<SqlServerConfiguration>() .WithCtorArg("db_server_address") .EqualToAppSetting("data.db_server_address") But what I would like to do is read from one config setting in debug mode and another in release mode. Sure I could surround the .EqualToAppSetting("data.db_server_address"), with #if DEBUG, but for some reason those statements make me cringe a little when I put them in. I'd like to know if there was some way to do this with the StructureMap library itself. So can I feed my objects different settings based on whether the project is built in debug or release mode?

• NHibernate auditing in disconnected mode

  I'm developing an app with a Silverlight UI, transferring my domain objects over WCF and persisting them via NHibernate. I'm therefore working with NHibernate in a disconnected mode. I'm already using the NHibernate PreUpdate and PreInsert EventListeners to perform some metadata operations (updating Create/Update date, created/updated by etc) and they are working fine. I now have a requirement to perform data logging on some of my domain objects. So I will need to have an audit table that has a before-save and after-save state of certain entities. I had wanted to use the @event.Persister.OldState and @event.Persister.NewState to perform this logging, but because I am in a disconnected scenario (using different Sessions from when data is retrieved to when it is persisted), @event.Persister.OldState is null when I am saving my changes back to the database. How is anyone else doing data logging in a disconnected scenario with NHibernate?

• iPhone App made using XCode 3.2.3 does not run on 3.1.3 OS

  I can't figure this out and I thought that someone might run through the same thing. I have XCode 3.2.3 (Pre Release with OS 4 beta) and I started to create my application, after the final touches and everything worked ok, I changed the Simulator - 4.0 to Simulator - 3.1.3 (latest iPhone OS) and I could never start my app again :-( Does anyone know what I should do? I created a simple Screencast of the problem so everyone can see what I'm writing about. Thank you for all the help.

• Edit Mode Delete Spinner Icon for Specific TableView Rows

  I have a grouped tableview. Each section has three rows. I need to be able to delete one section at a time. Using the standard edit mode, I can make it work. However, the delete icon shows up to the left of each cell, not just the first row in each section. Is there a way to suppress the little spinner icon for all rows except the first? I am hoping there is an easy way to do this without subclassing. Thanks for your help.
