  • How to access a structure member in a function that get it as void* type?

    - by Ahmad
    I want to have a function that accepts different type of structures as argument. So, since I don't have a specific type, I have to use void*. Now question is: when I pass a structure to this function, how can I access a known member of this structure inside the function? Specifically, I know that all structures have str1 as a member and I want, for example, print it. Here is a sample code: struct { char* str1; float tt1; } var1 = {"This is me", 12}; struct { char* str1; int tt2; } var2 = {"This is you", 18}; void printStruct(void* str) { printf("\n the structure string is %s", ??); //can I put something in ?? to print the string? } main(....) { printStruct(&var1); printStruct(&var2); }

  • django + xmppy: send a message to two recipients

    - by Agrajag
    I'm trying to use xmpppy for sending jabber-messages from a django-website. This works entirely fine. However, the message only gets sent to the -first- of the recipients in the list. This happens when I run the following function from django, and also if I run it from an interactive python-shell. The weird part though, is that if I extract the -body- of the function and run that interactively, then all the recipients (there's just 2 at the moment) get the message. Also, I do know that the inner for-loop gets run the correct count times (2), because the print-statement does run twice, and return two different message-ids. The function looks like this: def hello_jabber(request, text): jid=xmpp.protocol.JID(settings.JABBER_ID) cl=xmpp.Client(jid.getDomain(),debug=[]) con=cl.connect() auth=cl.auth(jid.getNode(),settings.JABBER_PW,resource=jid.getResource()) for friend in settings.JABBER_FRIENDS: id=cl.send(xmpp.protocol.Message(friend,friend + ' is awesome:' + text)) print 'sent message with id ' + str(id) cl.disconnect() return render_to_response('jabber/sent.htm', locals())

  • Selecting based on __key__ (a unique identifier) in google appengine [Java]

    - by Stavros
    I have public class QuantityType { @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) private Key key; @Persistent private String type; } I am trying to setup a query to get the right QuantityType by it's key gql = "select * from QuantityType where __key__='aght52oobW1hIHTWVzc2FnZRiyAQw'"; But its not working because BadFilterError: BadFilterError: invalid filter: key filter value must be a Key; received aght52oobW1hIHTWVzc2FnZRiyAQw (a str). I have also tried to use gql = "select * from QuantityType where __key__=='" + KeyFactory.stringToKey(qTypeKey)+"'"; but it's now working.. How can I get a specific object from my datastore by it's key?

  • Can you change/redirect a django form's function by passing in your own function?

    - by Derek
    I'm dealing with django-paypal and want to change the button src images. So I went the the conf.py file in the source and edited the src destination. However, I really want to leave the source alone, and I noticed that the class PayPalPaymentsForm(forms.Form): has def get_image(self): return { (True, self.SUBSCRIBE): SUBSCRIPTION_SANDBOX_IMAGE, (True, self.BUY): SANDBOX_IMAGE, (True, self.DONATE): DONATION_SANDBOX_IMAGE, (False, self.SUBSCRIBE): SUBSCRIPTION_IMAGE, (False, self.BUY): IMAGE, (False, self.DONATE): DONATION_IMAGE, }[TEST, self.button_type] which handles all the image src destinations. Since changing this def in the source is worse than changing conf, I was wondering if there was a way to pass in customized defs you make like passing in initial arguments in forms? This way no source code is changed, and I can customize the get_image def as much as I need. passing in def something like this? def get_image(self): .... .... paypal = { 'amount': 10, 'item_name': 'test1', 'item_number': 'test1_slug', # PayPal wants a unique invoice ID 'invoice': str(uuid.uuid4()), } form = PayPalPaymentsForm(initial=paypal, get_image) Thanks!

  • Interning strings in Java

    - by Tiny
    The following segment of code interns a string. String str1="my"; String str2="string"; String concat1=str1+str2; concat1.intern(); System.out.println(concat1=="mystring"); The expression concat1=="mystring" returns true because concat1 has been interned. If the given string mystring is changed to string as shown in the following snippet. String str11="str"; String str12="ing"; String concat11=str11+str12; concat11.intern(); System.out.println(concat11=="string"); The comparison expression concat11=="string" returns false. The string held by concat11 doesn't seem to be interned. What am I overlooking here? I have tested on Java 7, update 11.

  • test cases for testing a strtok-alike function [C++]

    - by Neeraj
    Consider the following class definition: class StrToTokens { StrToTokens(const char* str, const char* delimiters = "\t\r\n"); //constructor string getNextToken(); void reset(); bool empty(); } Can someone list some good testcases to test the above class. A few I could think of are: empty string, empty delimiters, repeated delimiters, consecutive delimiters, string with only delimiters. However, the interviewer expected some more(better ones). Can you help out. Thanks.

  • Anonymous types based in Interface

    - by Bhaskar
    Can I create anonymous implementations of an interface , in a way similar to the way delegate() { // type impl here , but not implementing any interface} Something on the lines of new IInterface() { // interface methods impl here } The situations where I see them to be useful are for specifying method parameters which are interface types, and where creating a class type is too much code. For example , consider like this : public void RunTest() { Cleanup(delegate() { return "hello from anonymous type"; }); } private void Cleanup(GetString obj) { Console.WriteLine("str from delegate " + obj()); } delegate string GetString(); how would this be achieved if in the above code , the method Cleanup had an interface as a parameter , without writing a class definition ? ( I think Java allows expressions like new Interface() ... )

  • Python Profiling In Windows, How do you ignore Builtin Functions

    - by Tim McJilton
    I have not been capable of finding this anywhere online. I was looking to find out using a profiler how to better optimize my code, and when sorting by which functions use up the most time cumulatively, things like str(), print, and other similar widely used functions eat up much of the profile. What is the best way to profile a python program to get the user-defined functions only to see what areas of their code they can optimize? I hope that makes sense, any light you can shed on this subject would be very appreciated.

  • How to check wether a path represented by a QString with german umlauts exists?

    - by MB
    Hey, i get a QString which represents a directory from a QLineEdit. Now i want to check wether a certain file exists in this directory. But if i try this with os.path.exists and os.path.join and get in trouble when german umlauts occur in the directory path: #the direcory coming from the user input in the QLineEdit #i take this QString to the local 8-Bit encoding and then make #a string from it target_dir = str(lineEdit.text().toLocal8Bit()) #the file name that should be checked for file_name = 'some-name.txt' #this fails with a UnicodeDecodeError when a umlaut occurs in target_dir os.path.exists(os.path.join(target_dir, file_name)) How would you check if the file exists, when you might encounter german umlauts?

  • JavaScript helper libraries? No DOM or AJAX stuff

    - by Melmacian
    As I'm writing JavaScript I'm always missing some fairly basic language features that JavaScript just don't have. So is there any library that would bring such features as trim, sprintf, str.endwith and etc. functions to JavaScript ? I just have written those functions too many times and I'm also tired of copy/pasting them from my old code. It would be nice to have some library which has those implemented and tested in one place. Note that I'm not talking about Ajax/DOM-libraries like jQuery or Dojo and such. I know that those libraries bring some of the features that I'm talking here, but not all. And I would like to have also an environment independent library so that same library could be used with server side JavaScript . Best library so far that I've found is php.js, but I don't like how it is polluting the global namespace. I'm also not too fond of how PHP-functions are named.

  • Problem opening Solr *.jsp pages with urllib2.urlopen.

    - by nestling
    I'm trying to open a page at http://localhost:8983/solr/admin/stats.jsp but urllib2.urlopen returns a blank string. It works fine for solr/ and solr/admin, but for all the pages above /solr/admin/ I get nothing but a blank string. 76]: t = urllib2.urlopen('http://localhost:8983/solr/admin/stats.jsp') 77]: s = t.read() 78]: s 78]: 79]: type(s) 79]: <type 'str'> 80]: urllib2.urlopen('http://localhost:8983/solr/admin/registry.jsp').read() 80]: In [84]: urllib2.urlopen('http://localhost:8983/solr/admin/schema.jsp').read() Out[84]: I know this isn't a problem with urllib2, but beyond that I am at a loss. I wish solr (or jetty) had an easy to get to log file, so that perhaps it could tell me its side of the story.

  • Is there such a thing as a C# style extension method in C++ ?

    - by Gary Willoughby
    I'm currently learning C++ and i run into the simple problem of converting an int to a string. I've worked around it using: string IntToString(int Number) { stringstream Stream; Stream << Number; return Stream.str(); } but though it would be more elegant to use something like: int x = 5; string y = x.toString(); but how do i add the toString() method to a built in type? or am i missing something totally fundamental?

  • C sharp: read last "n" lines of log file

    - by frictionlesspulley
    need a snippet of code which would read out last "n lines" of a log file. I came up with the following code from the net.I am kinda new to C sharp. Since the log file might be quite large, I want to avoid overhead of reading the entire file.Can someone suggest any performance enhancement. I do not really want to read each character and change position. var reader = new StreamReader(filePath, Encoding.ASCII); reader.BaseStream.Seek(0, SeekOrigin.End); var count = 0; while (count <= tailCount) { if (reader.BaseStream.Position <= 0) break; reader.BaseStream.Position--; int c = reader.Read(); if (reader.BaseStream.Position <= 0) break; reader.BaseStream.Position--; if (c == '\n') { ++count; } } var str = reader.ReadToEnd();

I wrote an post method with no parameters and it does go into that method
