• How to gain greater control of network packets on Android

  I'm looking to design an application that will require some deep control over IP packets. Looking over the reference guide on the developers site at Android I see very limited control over packets from java.net:SocketOptions and java.net:DatagramPacket. Specifically I'm looking to control the individual bits within the packet to set TCP Flags, SYN/ACK/RST, and so forth. Based on the docs I am assuming I cannot do this within the Java API provided by Android and I'm guessing I'll have to do it some other way? Anyone have any insight on this?

• Drupal 6: Taxonomy splot up in managed fields?

  So you have two taxonomies, namely: "Business Type" and "Location" This is assigned to a node called BUSINESS. In effect, when the user creates a BUSINESS node, her has to choose for example, location "New York" and type "Information Services". My problem is when: a) Capturing the taxonomy, and b) Displaying the taxonomy I want the two terms to be separated from each other. I.e. I want to be able to move the two terms individual positions in the MANAGE FIELDS view, so that they can be grouped or placed seperately. Currently, Drupal only allows one entry, called "TAXONOMY" which is effectively the two terms next to each other. This is what I have: This is what I want: Bare in mind, I need to be able to use this with Hierarchical Select, which means Content Taxonomy is not an option.

• Amazon S3 security credentials per bucket

  Hi all, I was wondering if it was possible to generate security credentials per individual Amazon S3 bucket. I am working with a developer and would like to grant him access only to the bucket we are working with. It's not a trust issue, it's more a concern that he'll delete the wrong bucket or its contents. For example: If we were working on an application that used a bucket called test-application I could generate the credentials for just that one bucket. These credentials would not allow access to other buckets in my account. Is this possible? Thanks, Tony

  Are there any books or articles that show you how to use NUnit to test entire features of a program? Is there a name for this type of testing? This is different from the typical use of NUnit for unit testing where you test individual classes. This is similar to acceptance testing except that it is written by the developer to discern that the program does what they interpreted as being what the customer wants the program to do. I don't need it to be readable by non-programmers or to produce a readable specification for non-programmers. The problem I am having is keeping this feature testing code maintainable. I need help in organizing my feature testing code. I also need help organizing the program code to be drivable in this way. I am having a hard time being able to issue commands to the program while still having good code design.

• printing parent page and iframe contents from print button withing iframe.

  I am using an iframe (I hate them by the way!) to call in a 3rd party checkout page into my parent page. The check out page doesn't allow me to pass any variables into it other than $total_amount. So, if an individual purchases 2 or more items they have no record of the items they purchase just the total amount. I have echoed the list of items purchased with php above the iframe for their reference. The final checkout step in the iframe allows you to print the receipt. However, it only prints the iframe content. Can you tell a print button within an iframe to print the parent page as well?

• Sql Server 2008 Cross-database table linking (relationships)

  Hi guys, I have a bit of an issue, and to be honest I don't think there's an answer, but I'll give it a try anyway. So I have two databases [A]-Company and [B]-Product. Both databases have a Country table which is then linked to other tables in each individual database. The problem is that the data between the two Country tables is a complete duplicate. So, I essentially have to duplicate some of the relationships in each database, and maintenance on top of that is just difficult... So, I'm curious is there a way to create a cross-database relationship between tables so I can have only one set of Country+Helper tables that govern both databases? Thanks in advance!

• Copying Data to a Master sheet from other sheets without duplicates

  I have four workbooks, three of which are for data entries, and the latter which hosts all data entered in the other workbooks; as a matter of fact, it serves as a master workbook. I need code to copy data entered in each workbook in sheet 1 to be copied to the next available row on sheet 1 of the master workbook, but if the data to be copied from these individual workbooks are duplicates, then a message box should pop up displaying that its a duplicate. To be precise, I want the users to type p in column j indicating process, and click a button in the spreadsheet to copy the data to the master sheet. I would be glad for any assistance.   I have a number of inputs on a page function as JQ UI datepicker. Each needs to have different settings. I want to minimize the JS so I save the settings as an attribute in each individual . <input type="text" class="datepicker" name="dateofbirth" id="dateofbirth" size="20" value="" options="{ dateFormat: 'yy-mm-dd',changeYear: true,yearRange: '1920:2010'}" /> <input type="text" class="datepicker" name="expdate" id="expdate" size="20" value="" options="{ yearRange: '2011:2020'}" /> I use js to load the options dynamically as the settings. $(document).ready(function(){ $(".datepicker").each(function(index){ $(this).datepicker("option" , $(this).attr('options')); }); }); datepicker is not functioning. If I empty the parentheses after $this.datepicker it works fine. I have also tried another way to assign settings. ("option",...) no dice.

• Mysql: ROLLBACK for multiple queries

  Hi I have more than three MySql queiries in a PHP script triggered by scheduled task. If a query catch an error, script throw an exception and rollback that Mysql query. It works fine. However if first query works fine, but not 2nd query, throw an exception, it rollback 2nd one but not 1st query. I am using begin_trans(), commit and rollback() for individual queries because Sometimes i need to rollback one query, sometimes all queries. Is there any way to rollback one query or all queries? Thanks in advance UPDATE: I got it working, there was no problem with in begin_trans(), commit and rollback(), the database connection config was different for one query from other queries, crazy code without any comments!!!

  My team would like to spend some time at lunch learning design patterns. Previously, we watched some videos on Javascript which we found very useful as a way to start discussions. We would like to do the same thing with design patterns so that we don't have to spend a lot of time (outside of work) researching individual patterns in order to give a presentation. I did a little searching and came up fairly empty handed. Any help would be appreciated. It doesn't even have to be a video, even something that we can listen to (maybe a book on tape even).

  I am look for a server side PDF library (or command line tool) which can: split a multi-page PDF file into individual PDF files, based on a search result of the PDF file content Examples: Search "Page ???" pattern in text and split the big PDF into 001.pdf, 002,pdf, ... ???.pdf A server program will scan the PDF, look for the search pattern, save the page(s) which match the patten, and save the file in the disk. It will be nice with integration with PHP / Ruby. Command line tool is also acceptable. It will be a server side (linux or win32) batch processing tool. I think it must be simple but I'm finding it confusing nevertheless. r = some constant less than m or n [m,n] = size(C); S = zeros(m-r,n-r); for i=1:m-r for j=1:n-r S(i,j) = sum(diag(C(i:i+r-1,j:j+r-1))); end end The code calculates a table of scores, S, for a dynamic programming algorithm, from another score table, C. The diagonal summing is to generate scores for individual pieces of the data used to generate C, for all possible pieces (of size r). Thanks in advance for any answers! • Scaling up an image

  How do I fulfill the condition "returns the entire scaled up image" If I am coding this correctly, scaleColor handles individual colors, getRed handles the red, etc. I am multiplying this by the input, numTimes, which will create a new image that is scaled up it. This scaled up (increase size) is to be returned. This is what I have. • Can't find a Wordpress image/photo gallery plugin

  I've been looking at Wordpress plugins for photo galleries (so maybe this is for superuser.com), and I've been very frustrated so far. It seems like what I'd like to do would be a very common use case: Admin: Be able to upload multiple pictures (at a time) Admin: Be able to assign a "gallery" to those pictures as I upload them User: Be able to go to a page with a (paged) list of all galleries User: Be able to click on gallery and view the images (again, probably paged) in that gallery User: Be able to click on an image to get larger/largest sizes User: Be able to leave comments on individual pictures (this is a "nice to have") The images/galleries could be totally independent of posts/pages, but it would be nice to be able to embed those images/galleries into posts/pages when necessary. Is there anything out there like this that I'm missing? I've tried a handful of plugins and none of them seem to be for a use case anywhere close to what I'm looking for. One of the reasons I'm trying to use Wordpress is to reduce time spent coding everything I want.

• Would you use a UITableViewController to implement a check list on the iPhone?

  I am creating an application that will have a list of items that can be checked. I just implemented it as a Table View by subclassing UITableViewController. Now I am realizing that since individual items don't have a child view (i.e. clicking on an item "Dinner" does not need to pull up a child list of "Dinner Items") then maybe I should have just created a custom view for the list. In your experience, would it be better to use the Table View or create something custom? thanks! p.s. I am a bit new to iPhone dev, but NOT new to C

• Extract co-ordinates from a vector of co-ordinates and save to file

  I have a vector which contains a list co-ordinates ...x1,y1 ; x2,y2....xn,yn I am trying to extract each individual element which is a co-ordinate and then save them to file as a nice delineated co-ord pair which can be easily read. Or what would be nice i to save them so I can plot something in excel e.t.c (as cols of x and y values). • Minimizing SQL queries using join with one-to-many relationship

  So let me preface this by saying that I'm not an SQL wizard by any means. What I want to do is simple as a concept, but has presented me with a small challenge when trying to minimize the amount of database queries I'm performing. Let's say I have a table of departments. Within each department is a list of employees. What is the most efficient way of listing all the departments and which employees are in each department. So for example if I have a department table with: id name 1 sales 2 marketing And a people table with: id department_id name 1 1 Tom 2 1 Bill 3 2 Jessica 4 1 Rachel 5 2 John What is the best way list all departments and all employees for each department like so: Sales Tom Bill Rachel Marketing Jessica John Pretend both tables are actually massive. (I want to avoid getting a list of departments, and then looping through the result and doing an individual query for each department). Think similarly of selecting the statuses/comments in a Facebook-like system, when statuses and comments are stored in separate tables.

  Imagine because of tradition that your team's preferred development method involved several people with a shared login, editing files on a build server using vim. [Note that there are well known issues to do with only one person being able to edit a file at once, people going away from their desk and leaving the file locked in vim, system builds/restarts requiring everybody to stop debugging while this occurs. This is not what the question is about] If source control was to be introduced without changing the workflow, would there be much benefit? I am guessing that the commit history won't be much use as it will contain all changes by everybody in big lumps. So it wouldn't really be possible to rewind individual changes apart from at a really big level.

• Plupload - how to stop uploads individualy

  Hello. I'm using plupload script with PHP and I am uploading using HTML5. I would like to stop uploads separately, from the list, not the whole process. Is this possible with plupload ? I think it would be useful to stop individual files. Thanks. EDIT: Let's just say that a user tries to upload 2 files and they are added to queue. After that, he clicks the upload button and the upload starts. At some point during the upload he realize that he doesn't really want to upload the second file, he needs to stop the 2nd upload and the 1st upload should continue. I can send an uploader.start(); on the plupload but it will stop all upload processes...and I need to stop just one. Thanks.

• Lua class instance with nested tables

  Hello, Simple lua game with simple class like so: creature = class({ name = "MONSTER BADDY!", stats = { power = 10, agility = 10, endurance = 10, filters = {} }, other_things = ... }) creatureA = creature.new() creatureB = creature.new() creatureA.name = "Frank" creatureB.name = "Zappa" creatureA.stats.agility = 20 creatureB.stats.power = 12 -- blah blah blah Non table values are individual to each instance, but table values are shared among all instances and if I modify a stats.X value in one instance, all other instances see the same stats table. Q1: Is my OO implementation flawed? I tried LOOP and the same result occured, is there a fundamental flaw in my logic? Q2: How would you have each instance of creature have it's own stats table (and sub tables)? PS. I cannot flatten my class table as it's a bit more complicated than the example and other parts of the code are simplified with this nested table implementation. Thanks a bunch.

  In c#, each thread has its own stack space. If this is the case, why is the following code not thread-safe? (It is stated that this code is thread-safe on this post: Locking in C# class Foo { private int count = 0; public void TrySomething() { count++; } } As count is an int (stack variable), surely this value would be isolated to an individual thread, on its own stack, and therefore thread-safe? I am probably missing something here, but I dont understand what is actually in Thread Local Storage if not stack-based variables for the thread?

  Hi Guys, I used to make good use of Java's ThreadPoolExecutor class and have yet to find a good equivalent in C#. I know of ThreadPool.QueueUserWorkItem which is useful in many cases but no good if you want to control the number of threads assigned to a task or have multiple individual queues for different task types. For example I liked to use a ThreadPoolExecutor with a single thread to guarantee sequential execution of asynchronous calls.. Is there an easy way to do this in C#? Is there a non-static thread pool implementation? Thanks, T.

  I have some servlets that act as individual URLs for populating a database for some dummy testing. • Android: duplicate items in ListVew. Maybe getView() called too many times?

  Hi, I am trying to create a simple program which displays a "shopping cart" list of items, along with a few buttons below it to manage the cart. The biggest problem is that items are getting duplicate entries in the list view. That is, for every item I want to enter I see it appear two times in the list view. What's the problem? Also, the scrollable area of my cart is not big enough. How do I set it so that it is bigger but I can still see my buttons? Perhaps I should put the buttons above the cart?
