  • 550 Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable

    - by Porch
I setup a small box with Server 2003 64bit to be used as a webserver and email server for a small school. Real simple stuff for a few users. A simple website and a handful of emails. rDNS and spf records setup and pass every test I found including test at dnsstuff.com. Email sending to almost every email address (google, hotmail, aol, whatever) works. However, with one domain, I get an bounce back with the error. 550 Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable It's another school running Exchange judging from some packet sniffing with WireShark. Every email on this domain I have tried sending to gives this error. The email address is valid as I can send to it from my personal, and gmail account without a problem. Does anyone know of some anti-spam software that gives an 550 error like the above? What else could this be? Thanks for any suggestions. Packet capture of the two servers communicating look like this. 220 <server snip> Microsoft ESMTP MAIL Service, Version: 6.0.3790.3959 ready at Sat, 2 Oct 2010 12:48:17 -0700 EHLO <email snip> 250-<server snip> Hello [<ip snip>] 250-TURN 250-SIZE 250-ETRN 250-XXXXXXXXXX 250-DSN 250-ENHANCEDSTATUSCODES 250-8bitmime 250-BINARYMIME 250-XXXXXXXX 250-VRFY 250-X-EXPS GSSAPI NTLM LOGIN 250-X-EXPS=LOGIN 250-AUTH GSSAPI NTLM LOGIN 250-AUTH=LOGIN 250-X-LINK2STATE 250-XXXXXXX 250 OK MAIL FROM: <email snip> 250 2.1.0 <email snip>....Sender OK RCPT TO:<email snip> 250 2.1.5 <email snip> DATA 354 Start mail input; end with <CRLF>.<CRLF> <email body here> . 550 Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable QUIT 221 Goodbye

  • How do I send an email with embedded images AND regular attachments in JavaMail?

    - by Chris
Hi, I'd like to know how to build an SMTP multipart message in the correct order so that it will render correctly on the iPhone mail client (rendering correctly in GMail). I'm using Javamail to build up an email containing the following parts: A body part with content type "text/html; UTF-8" An embedded image attachment. A file attachment I am sending the mail via GMail SMTP (via SSL) and the mail is sent and rendered correctly using a GMail account, however, the mail does not render correctly on the iPhone mail client. On the iPhone mail client, the image is rendered before the "Before Image" text when it should be rendered afterwards. After the "Before Image" text there is an icon with a question mark (I assume it means it couldn't find the referenced CID). I'm not sure if this is a limitation of the iPhone mail client or a bug in my mail sending code (I strongly assume the latter). I think that perhaps the headers on my parts might by incorrect or perhaps I am providing the multiparts in the wrong order. I include the text of the received mail as output by gmail (which renders the file correc Message-ID: <[email protected]> Subject: =?UTF-8?Q?Test_from_=E3=82=AF=E3=83=AA=E3=82=B9?= MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="----=_Part_0_20870565.1274154021755" ------=_Part_0_20870565.1274154021755 Content-Type: application/octet-stream Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 Content-ID: <20100518124021763_368238_0> iVBORw0K ----- TRIMMED FOR CONCISENESS 6p1VVy4alAAAAABJRU5ErkJggg== ------=_Part_0_20870565.1274154021755 Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit <html><head><title>Employees Favourite Foods</title> <style> body { font: normal 8pt arial; } th { font: bold 8pt arial; white-space: nowrap; } td { font: normal 8pt arial; white-space: nowrap; } </style></head><body> Before Image<br><img src="cid:20100518124021763_368238_0"> After Image<br><table border="0"> <tr> <th colspan="4">Employees Favourite Foods</th> </tr> <tr> <th align="left">Name</th><th align="left">Age</th><th align="left">Tel.No</th><th align="left">Fav.Food</th> </tr> <tr style="background-color:#e0e0e0"> <td>Chris</td><td>34</td><td>555-123-4567</td><td>Pancakes</td> </tr> </table></body></html> ------=_Part_0_20870565.1274154021755 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii; name=textfile.txt Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=textfile.txt This is a textfile with numbers counting from one to ten beneath this line: one two three four five six seven eight nine ten(no trailing carriage return) ------=_Part_0_20870565.1274154021755-- Even if you can't assist me with this, I would appreciate it if any members of the forum could forward me a (non-personal) mail that includes inline images (not external hyperlinked images though). • What if &ldquo;Microsoft&rdquo; were in our shoes? About Windows Phone

    - by Vijaya Malla
This is what I think about Microsoft Windows Phone. If Microsoft were in our shoes looking at various phones available their configurations, memory, front facing cameras etc. Microsoft disappointed the USA customer base again by not getting Nokia Lumia 800. The Past: If we talk few years ago, few business people were on their Blackberry’s and few Gadget lovers were on crappy Windows OS devices. The world was all going right till Apple came with a revolutionary device iPhone, which completely changed our perception towards phone and how great a smartphone can be. It’s not just phone but the whole technology industry. The romantic appealing of the phone and smooth touch and feel of it made everyone to get one of those bad boys. The sales went up for not just Apple for AT&T too. Even though everyone complained about the signal strength of AT&T, everyone wanted to be on it because they have iPhones. All world wanted iPhone back then except Microsoft with few comments on how it is not going to be in market. But it did great and rocked the industry. A few years later with iPhone and Android taking over the smartphone market Microsoft realized that it should be in the game too. Worked on the design of it, and gave us the best Mobile OS ever. Everyone thinks that iOS is a great OS for phones but if you have touched a Windows Phone and use it for real then you will realize the strengths of it. so last year we welcomed Windows Phone 7 The Present : Windows Phone 7 has the fastest growing market. The phones are cheap, you can buy from any carrier out there. The phone became smarter and smarter with the recent update “Mango (7.5)” and with the collaboration with Nokia, Microsoft created a new eco-system for smartphones with the best smartphone hardware and best smartphone software. Everyone in the world was excited about the collaboration. As we fly over cloud 9 imagining about Nokia made Windows Phones we all heard a good news from Nokia “Nokia World”. Nokia showed the world what a best hardware making company can do with Windows Phone 7.5 OS. Nokia Lumia 800 and 710 took the spotlight. Everyone here in USA and all over the world wanted to own a Nokia Lumia 800 because of the design, software, proprietary apps from Nokia (maps, ESPN, drive and music). If USA market had Nokia Lumia 800, then it would have been the best step Microsoft and Nokia had ever made in their history of smartphone market. With all the numbers going to Android and IPhone, its not clear on why Microsoft/Nokia did not release Lumia 800 here in USA. Its unclear if Microsoft had learnt the lesson or not. if it had learnt the lesson I guess Microsoft needs to get the Nokia Lumia 800 to the USA. The Future: This is where we hope we get the best form Microsoft. I was an iPhone user, I used 2G, 3G, 3GS, 4 and then moved to Windows Phone and never felt so happy with my iPhones’. From the day when Nokia announced the partnership with Microsoft and said that they going to come up with a new Nokia windows phone, I was dreaming for my Nokia Phone. but looks like it is not going to happen any time soon. My thoughts about the Market :  Nokia has the biggest market base in the world. Even though people moved to Android or iPhone over the years in other parts of the world like India and China, people still love to use Nokia. Everyone who uses a Windows Phone now will wait for that day when Nokia Lumia comes to the USA but what either or both of the companies should do for a better market share is to make a very aggressive move with the hardware and bet on the devices. I am pretty sure that it will work. everyone here in the USA will like to have a dual core windows phone with front facing camera and all other crazy things that android/apple phones offer. I think we just have to wait for that day and hope that day comes soon. Love Microsoft and Nokia Thank you for reading.

  • How to associate document files with MS Office 2010 Beta?

    - by Semyon Perepelitsa
I've installed MS Office 2010 Beta (OneClick technology). All apps launch from 1 program, Word for example has this link: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\microsoft shared\Virtualization Handler\CVH.EXE" "Microsoft Word 2010 (Beta) 2014006204190000" Or OneNote: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\microsoft shared\Virtualization Handler\CVH.EXE" "Microsoft OneNote 2010 (Beta) 2014006204190000" Because of that I can't associate files with Office programs in file properties, they actually associate with “Microsoft Office Client Virtualization Handler” (CVH.EXE). Anyone know another way to do that?

  • Reinstall of Microsoft Office 2010 beta isn't prompting me for upgrade vs. side-by-side installation

    - by Howiecamp
I'm running Office 2007 on Windows 7. When I ran the Microsoft Office 2010 beta installation, it asked if I wanted to upgrade the existing 2007 installation or install along side 2007. I later uninstalled 2010 and rebooted. When I re-ran the Office 2010 setup program, it no longer asked if I wanted to upgrade or install side by side. It just did a side by side install by default. How can I get it to re-prompt me, as I'd now like to upgrade my 2007 install.

  • How can I delete, break, or otherwise convert cross references to simple text in microsoft word 2013

    - by Mr Purple
Cross referencing figure and table captions is useful while editing a document but can become confude when copying and pasting between large documents. I need to pass my document to a colleague who will collate my document with others and has requested that I remove or delete any cross referencing so that my "correct" cross references do not interfere or get interfered with by any other cross references that may be in my colleagues master collated document. My document will be cut and pasted into the master and no further complicated instructions after that point will be tolerated by my colleague. Is there a simple way to convert my cross references to simple text? I am using microsoft word 2013.

  • Need help completing this Powershell script with some Exchange 2010 commands.

    - by Pure.Krome
Hi folks. the following powershell script lists all the email aliases I have for a single mailbox. >$mbx = Get-Mailbox myuser >$mbx.EmailAddresses and that lists all the addresses. eg. SmtpAddress : [email protected] AddressString : [email protected] ProxyAddressString : smtp:[email protected] Prefix : SMTP IsPrimaryAddress : False PrefixString : smtp SmtpAddress : [email protected] AddressString : [email protected] ProxyAddressString : smtp:[email protected] Prefix : SMTP IsPrimaryAddress : False PrefixString : smtp SmtpAddress : [email protected] AddressString : [email protected] ProxyAddressString : SMTP:[email protected] Prefix : SMTP IsPrimaryAddress : True PrefixString : SMTP Now to add a new email address, I do the following poweshell command :- $mbx.EmailAddresses += "myEmailAddress.com" $mbx | Set-Mailbox So i'm not sure how i can use the foreach to remove each address? I tried:- @mbx.EmailAddresses | foreach { $mbx.EmailAddresses -= $._SmtpAddress } and that failed miserably. That's my first attempt of PS script, ever :P Can anyone help?

  • Microsoft Outlook 2007 - General Failure. The URL was: "<http:/something.com>". The parameter is incorrect

    - by Simon Peverett
For the last two days, Outlook has decided it doesn't like URL's. Any email message that comes in containing an URL will show the following in an error dialogue message box when I click on the link: General Failure. The URL was: "http:/something.com/somewhere/". The parameter is incorrect If I copy the link into a browser, it works correctly. OS is Windows XP SP 3, Microsoft Office 2007 (Outlook), Internet Explorer 8 (also Chrome). I have, of course, Googled this and the two most popular solutions are: Solution 1: Add/Remove programs Set Program Access and Defaults Custom tab Make sure a default browser is selected Solution 2: Add/Remove Programs Select the MS Office 2007 item Click Change Click Repair I have tried both of these and I still get the problem. Has anyone else had this problem and solved it with a solution other than those listed above?

  • How to make the Microsoft Word 2010 web install version completely download itself?

    - by Paperflyer
I installed Microsoft Word 2010 using the handy web installation feature. The way this works is that Word installs a bare minimum of functionality and any time it needs a feature that has not been downloaded yet, it will download it in-place just as needed. The thing is, this is stalling Word every few minutes. Every few minutes, Word takes a small nap while it tries to find some obscure feature somewhere. This is really annoying. Is there a way to just tell the thing to completely download itself? This was a nice functionality for the trial but it is extremely annoying in actual use.

  • Microsoft word 2003 when I am making deletions or changes they show up on the document in a balloon

    - by Cyberdude
I am writing a novel in microsoft word 2003, and I am pretty far into it, but one time I hit a one of the F keys (I don't know which one) by accident. Now everytime I go on word I have these stupid balloons with writing in them and all my deletions and everything are highlighted shown. I looked up on google how to stop this and I did as it says, and it worked the balloon with the deletions and all the changes dissapeared, but next time I opened up the document they were back, and they always keep coming back, so when I send my document to anyone it shows them all my deletions and changes I made to the document. Can anyone help please. Thanks

  • Microsoft Office tracking license marks/keys in saved files (doc/docx/xls etc.)?

    - by pawel159
Does Microsoft Office use any marks/keys in saved files, that can track the computer and software license using which file was saved? E.g.: I use Office at work and save files on pendrive. When I'm home I recall to check something and introduce little modifications. I'd save this file using MS Office Home and Student license, but at work I will be redistributing this file and it should look as it was saved at work, with company's license (not my private). Will saving it at work once again wipe license marks from home (if any exist)?

  • Any Microsoft SQL Server 2008 licensing restrictions on usage?

    - by ryrobes
Does Microsoft have any problems with HOW I USE SQL Server Standard Edition 2008? I plan on using it to aggregate my clients various data sources and report on them (using the whole stack - SSIS, DB, Analysis Services and Reporting Services) via the web. I don't want to run into any issues with being accused of "re-selling" services / features when I'm not allowed to, etc. In essence, I'm charging people to build them solutions based on / using MY licensed copy and then giving them access to the final products. (reports, etc) It seems straightforward enough - but who knows with MS... (BTW, Licensed by processor / not CAL)
