  • How to set CHKDSK for drive C: in Windows 7

    I recently got a 0xc000007b error whenever I tried to run some application software. I found that CHKDSK for C drive might be a solution. When I tried to do it from C drive properties, it said the drive was in use and asked to schedule CHKDSK at the next reboot. I clicked OK. When I restart, I experience a BSOD. I waited for 10 minutes but still nothing happens. So I forced a shutdown (laptop) and again booted up the computer and got a BSOD for just 5 or 10 seconds and system boots and works with no problem. I repeated all these steps four or four times and yet with the same results. Is there any other way other than CHKDSK to solve the 0xc000007b error? If not, why is CHKDSK not working at boot up? Can I force CHKDSK on drive C: to perform while the system is on? Platform: Windows 7 64-bit.

  • Access router set up as a bridge behind another router

    I have a problem my ISP is refusing to help me with, even though they put up the whole system. Specifications: There's a Thomson TG784 router through which the internet comes in to the building, Behind that (for some reason) is a Juniper NetScreen 5XT - 105 Firewall/Router? which leads to an AMX nxa-enet24 switch that carries the connections all over the building and a series of Apple AirPorts for wifi. Problem: The first router (Thomson) is required for ipTV (by Elion). The tv or ipTV box has to be connected straight to the Thomson router. My service provider cannot see the Thomson router from their side, but see the Juniper, so we might think the Thomson has been configured as a bridge. I need a way to access the Thomson router and see it's configurations, because currently, when connecting a Samsung tv to that router (with elion app for ipTV viewing) or even a computer, it cannot access the internet and even if it could, it would update the Thomson router software, losing it's configurations which I need to preserve. I'm unable to find out the Thomson routers ip address to connect to it, and when directly conencting with a cat5 cable, it doesn't give me an ip address.     I have a folder structure similar to the one shown below these paragraphs. How do I change security on every 'Photos' folder without clicking through each individually in Windows Explorer? There are about 50 top level folders (Bob, Jim, Eva, etc, etc) which have the same layout of folders inside. I am keen for any suggestions, either scripting or GUI. I am on Windows Server 2003. Cheap/free method would be good, as the company is part of a registered charity. Ideally I would like to do this via DFS path. E.G. \\mycompany.local\Shared\Staff\Bob\ Thanks for reading.     Is is possible to configure WordPress permalinks directly in Apache httpd.conf? I have a server situation (Apache 2.2.3 CentOS PHP5.1.6) where I can't use .htaccess for performance reasons, but can use httpd.conf. The admin says that mod_rewrite is enabled, but AllowOverride is not, and I can't change those settings. And I need to restrict the permalinks to just the "blog" directory.   • Set Users as chrooted for sftp, but allow user to login in SSH

    I have setup a ssh server on debian 7, to use sftp connection. I chrooted some user, with this config: Match Group sftpusers ChrootDirectory /sftp/%u ForceCommand internal-sftp But if i want login with one of this chrooted users in ssh console, they get logged, but autoclose the connection.   • Can't access DD-WRT set in DHCP forwarder

    This might sound amazingly stupid but I have a DD-WRT (micro) router that I placed in my network to act as a switch and as a WAP while relying on my cable modem to be the DHCP server. In my attempts to get the configuration right I put the router into DHCP forwarder which then made everything work correctly. The problem is now I can't seem to connect to the router in any fashion to add mac addresses to the WAP access list. Is there something I'm missing or do I need to try a hard reset on it and reconfigure everything?

    I have been battling with .htaccess rules to get my SSL setup working right for the past few days.I get a requested URL not found error whenever I try access any requests that does not do through the index controller. For example this URL would work fine if I enter the it manually https://www.example.com/index.php/auth/register However my application has been built in such a way that the url should be this https://www.example.com/auth/register and that gives the requested URL not found error My other URLs such as https://www.example.com/index/faq https://www.example.com/index/blog https://www.example.com/index/terms work just fine. What rule do I need to write in my htaccess to get the URL https://www.example.com/auth/register working?     I have a mac that is hooked into a sound board, I have external sound card that interfaces between the computer and the soundboard, this works great. However, whenever the computer restarts it sets the input & output to the 'internal microphone' and the 'built in output'. I'd like to default to the other soundcard. How can I do this?     I would like to reverse proxy my Jira installation on a Windows server 2008 machine. Jira is running under: http://jira.domain.com:8080/ and is accessible as such. The machine also runs IIS for hosting several ASP.NET websites. I followed instructions here: http://blogs.iis.net/carlosag/archive/2010/04/01/setting-up-a-reverse-proxy-using-iis-url-rewrite-and-arr.aspx and installed URL rewrite and ARR. I now have a “Web farm” node in my IIS instance but I’ve got no idea on how to proceed. I tried adding some rules but this made the rest of my IIS websites stop responding. Is there a simple way to say: 1. Forward http://jira.domain.com to http://localhost:8080 2. Ignore other domains and route them as usual Any help is greatly appreciated!

    I'm trying to extract a tar archive to a specific directory. I've tried using -C flag but it doesn't work as expected. Here is the commandline I'm using tar xvf myarchive.tar -C mydirectory/ This gives me a following error: tar: file -C: not present in archive tar: file mydirectory/: not present in archive I've also tried setting the -C flag before the archive file but it just says this: tar xvf -C mydirectory/ myarchive.tar tar: -C: No such file or directory What am I doing wrong? EDIT: tar -tf shows that the tar archive does not have full path names: tar -tf myarchive.tar herareport/ herareport/bin/ ...

The issue I'm trying to solve is how to set a property on a bean based on a radio button before I update it in the database. Is the Form Helper http://www.grails.org/plugin/form-helper plugin the way to go? E.g., when one simply connects to that AP (well, there should be DHCP or something for that) and goes to serverfault.com, all the traffic goes through that SOCKS proxy. Edit /etc/inet/ipnodes, change /etc/defaultrouter, reboot in opensolaris there is not defaultrouter file. first thing I tried was System-admin-network switch to manual enter static address and netmask and gateway. press 'activate' "this interface cannot be activated". No error messages given. Close widget, open again. Now hangs for a minute and then closes try edit /etc/inet/ipnodes, reboot eth card not up. Network widget hangs then closes Works perfectly on DHCP

    I have a web site deployed to IIS 7. One page it is has 15+ .js files linked to it. Last two files referenced in <head> tag (loaded last) get 403 forbidden response from server. I have enabled FailedRequestTracing and have been able to see a detailed error code which is 403.502. I suppose over a very short period of time I am just pulling to much and the IIS blocks me. Is there a way I can configure the limit to enable larger number of requests and get rid of 403.502 error?

  • Firefox cannot render icons from Font Awesome webfont set

    In Firefox (Windows 7), icons and glyphs that are called from the Font Awesome package do not render properly. An example of this can be seen on the Khan Academy website. Below the video the icons are shown as boxes with hex codes in them. This means that it isn't getting downloaded by Firefox. How it appears on Chrome (Windows 7), Safari (Mac OS X) and Stainless (Mac OS X): I found this question on Stack Overflow that may explain why this happens -- the CSS does use single quotes to enclose the font's src location. However, I don't have any write access to Khan Academy servers so I can't modify the actual website. I want to know if this can be fixed in Firefox, and how. I can run Greasemonkey scripts if that would help. I've already tried manually downloading the font and adding it to Windows' Fonts folder but this does not help. Try again later. Setting this through OWA works fine. Autodiscover is working, and all addresses are resolvable through DNS. Outlook profile created from scratch. Anonymous access disabled for EWS/OWA (IIS on Exchange box). I'm out of steam for troubleshooting. Any ideas?

    I would like to use Linux(Fedora) on a Aluminum MacBook Pro, but since the Touchpad on a MacBook Pro is only a giant button Apple does some custom tracking. When there is one finger placed, and a second follows (the click can occur before or after that) it will be interpreted as a drag. So the strong thumb can be used to hold pressure and the more accurate index finger can do the pointing. But Linux interprets this as a right click, since it only cares if two fingers are on the pad.
