• is there a tool to see the difference between two database tables in SQL Server?

  What is a good tool to see the differences between 2 tables (or even better, the datasets returned by 2 queries). EDIT: I'm not interested in the schema changes. Just assume that the schemas are the same. background as to why: I'm porting some legacy code which can fill a database with some pre-calced data. The easiest way to see if I got everything right, is to check the output of the old program, with the new one. I was thinking that if there is some kind of 'diff' tool for databases, this might be great.

• How do I Put Several Select Statements into Different Columns

  I basically have 7 select statement that I need to have the results output into separate columns. Normally I would use a crosstab for this but I need a fast efficient way to go about this as there are over 7 billion rows in the table. I am using the vertica database system. • Convert byte array to understandable String

  I have a program that handles byte arrays in Java, and now I would like to write this into a XML file. However, I am unsure as to how I can convert the following byte array into a sensible String to write to a file. Assuming that it was Unicode characters I attempted the following code: String temp = new String(encodedBytes, "UTF-8"); Only to have the debugger show that the encodedBytes contain "\ufffd\ufffd ^\ufffd\ufffd-m\ufffd\ufffd\/ufffd \ufffd\ufffdIA\ufffd\ufffd". The String should contain a hash in alphanumerical format. How would I turn the above String into a sensible String for output?

• Binding expression failing.

  My output window is flooded with binding expression failures like : "Cannot find source for binding with reference 'RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType='System.Windows.Controls.UserControl', AncestorLevel='1''. BindingExpression:Path=DataContext.CurrentActivationObjectType; DataItem=null; target element is 'StackPanel' (Name=''); target property is 'NoTarget' (type 'Object')" and similar binding issues. • Linux issues on setting a timer function

  I am creating a process with 2 children, 1 of the children is responsible to read questions (line by line from a file), output every question and reading the answer, and the other one is responsable to measure the time elapsed and notify the user at each past 1 minute about the remaining time. My problem is that i couldn't find any useful example of how i can make this set time function to work. Here is what i have tried so far. • Java library for converting Word documents to PDFs or images

  Hey there What I need to do is convert Microsoft Word .doc files to PDFs or images. This has to occur in Java. I have done a fair bit of investigation already. I've tried Davisor Publishor but it doesn't give me the accuracy that I need - for instance text overlapping in the output document. Adobe has something called LiveCycle. Anyone tried this? It looks quite massive and a bit of overkill (its an "integrated server solution"). Sounds expensive. Saying that, it doesn't have to be free, or cheap. • Shell Script - comparing lines of text, deleting matches

  Hi all, I've done some searching for this but cannot find what I'm after, specifically. I have two files: "a.txt", "b.txt". Each contains a list of email addresses, separated by newlines. For all lines in "a.txt", I need to check for a match anywhere in "b.txt". If so, the email address in "a.txt" needs to be removed. (Alternatively, a new file "c.txt" could be created with the output if that is easier.) I'm using Mac OS X, so am looking for a shell script that could help, or pointers to how I'd go about constructing the script. Thanks for any help.

• How do I maximize a function in Mathematica which takes in a variable length list as input?

  I have a time-series like function which gives an output based on a list of real numbers(i.e. you can run the function on a list of 1,2,3,... real numbers). The issue I'm encountering is how to maximize the function for a given list length(subject to a set of constraints). I could fix the function to a fixed number of real numbers(i.e. f [x_Real, y_Real] instead of f[x_List]) and treat x and y as the first two elements of the list, and call Maximize on the function, but this is not really elegant. I want to be able to easily change the number of elements in the list. What is the best way to optimize a function like I described, which takes a list as an argument, for a fixed list length?

• Lexing newlines in scala StdLexical?

  I'm trying to lex (then parse) a C like language. In C there are preprocessor directives where line breaks are significant, then the actual code where they are just whitespace. One way of doing this would be do a two pass process like early C compilers - have a separate preprocessor for the # directives, then lex the output of that. However, I wondered if it was possible to do it in a single lexer. I'm pretty happy with writing the scala parser-combinator code, but I'm not so sure of how StdLexical handles whitespace. Could someone write some simple sample code which say could lex a #include line (using the newline) and some trivial code (ignoring the newline)? Or is this not possible, and it is better to go with the 2-pass appproach?

But the interviewer denied it. He said he'd give me a hint and said Virtual Function. I have no idea how to use that hint.

  As the question states, what exactly are the implications of having the 'implicit declaration of function' warning? We just cranked up the warning flags on gcc and found quite a few instances of these warnings and I'm curious what type of problems this may have caused prior to fixing them? Also, why is this a warning and not an error. How is gcc even able to successfully link this executable? As you can see in the example below, the executable functions as expected. ID1 I need to create a table that has the missing records in TableA based on TableB The select query I am trying to create should give the following output C1 P1 S4 To do this, I have the following SQL query SELECT DISTINCT TableA.ID1, TableA.ID2, TableB.ID1 FROM TableA a, TableB b WHERE TableB.ID1 NOT IN ( SELECT DISTINCT [ID3] FROM TableA aa WHERE a.ID1 == aa.ID1 AND a.ID2 == aa.ID2 ) Though this query works, it performs poorly and my final TableA may have upto 1M records. is there a way to rewrite this more efficiently.   I want to adjust zsh so that I can tab complete: myprog <tab> using all *.foo files in ~/somedir, but have it so that it displays them without the .foo extension. Is there any way to do this? I'm now trying to accomplish this and is asking for a bit of advise: I'm basically trying to build a filter with 4 input elements, and 1 output. I have 4 select (drop down) elements in my page. As soon as one of them is changed, I need to build a href and get the partial view with the return values. My questionis now if I should try to build the href in the select element or if I can do it once in jquery, and don't have to have duplicated code. How would I accomplish this?

  How does one stream files, html or custom AJAX responses from web parts? Our current quick-and-very-dirty solution is to make the web part call the current page with certain query parameters, which the web part checks and instead of performing normal load it writes the required things to output and calls response end. This sounds bad since SharePoint might load other web parts and execute their code before reaching our web part. The web part is configured with data source settings which means the streaming context must be specific to the web part so it can acquire the correct data source settings.

  I'm running Gitolite over the Git repository and I have post-receive hook there written in Python. I need to execute "git" command at git repository directory. There are few lines of code: proc = subprocess.Popen(['git', 'log', '-n1'], cwd='/home/git/repos/testing.git' stdout=subprocess.PIPE, stderr=subprocess.PIPE) proc.communicate() After I make new commit and push to repository, scripts executes and says fatal: Not a git repository: '.' If I run proc = subprocess.Popen(['pwd'], cwd='/home/git/repos/testing.git' stdout=subprocess.PIPE, stderr=subprocess.PIPE) it says, as expected, correct path to git repository (/home/git/repos/testing.git) If I run this script manually from bash, it works correct and show correct output of "git log". What I'm doing wrong?
