  • RSpec: in-depth differences between before(:all) and before(:each)

    - by gmile
    Ok, so I've ran into a very strange issue, directly connected with before blocks. I'm doing a integration testing via Watir and RSpec. For a simple test to check if user can perform a login I'm creating a 'user' record in the db by means of factory_girl. So I put the following code: before(:each) do @user = Factory(:user) end if "should perform a login" do # do stuff end In do stuff I call a browser and see how the user tries to login. Unfortunately, somehow he cannot do that — "Username isn't valid". After some investigation I discovered that if I put the code for creating user in before(:all) block, everything magically works. How's that? What's the difference between :all and :each in this context? Also, If I put the code for creating user actually in the test body, it still doesn't work (i.e. user somehow isn't added to the DB or something).

  • Save the contents of manipulated div to a variable and pass to php file

    - by Danielle Zarcaro
    I have tried to use AJAX, but nothing I come up with seems to work correctly. I am creating a menu editor. I echo part of a file using php and manipulate it using javascript/jquery/ajax (I found the code for that here: http://www.prodevtips.com/2010/03/07/jquery-drag-and-drop-to-sort-tree/). Now I need to get the edited contents of the div (which has an unordered list in it) I am echoing and save it to a variable so I can write it to the file again. I couldn't get that resource's code to work so I'm trying to come up with another solution. If there is a code I can put into the $("#save").click(function(){ }); part of the javascript file, that would work, but the .post doesn't seem to want to work for me. If there is a way to initiate a php preg_match in an onclick, that would be the easiest. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Reporting sanitized user input to the user via AJAX

    - by JimBo
    I am writing some code to give live feedback to the user on the validation of a form using AJAX. I have got it checking length and if the field is empty. Now I want it to sanitize the users input and if the sanatized input differs from the users original input then tell them which characters are not allowed. The code I have written so far works except some characters most notably a '£' symbol result in no response. I think it relates to json_encode and its encoding. Here is the code: $user_input = 'asdfsfs£'; $strip_array = str_split(strip($user_input)); $orig_array = str_split($user_input); $diff_array = array_diff($orig_array,$strip_array); $diff_str = implode(', ',$diff_array); $final = json_encode($diff_str); function strip($input){return htmlentities(strip_tags($input),ENT_QUOTES);} Hope someone can figure out a solution.

  • Auto Re-Running of Tests that fail

    - by Tangopop
    I have a set of Selenium/MbUnit Tests that work fine, but tend to take a while to run (over 4 hours) A problem i am finding is that about 1 in 20 test seems to timeout when running. I have confirmed the Selenium GRID is working and the Selenium RC's are all fine, it just seems to be a qwerk of the system. What is really annoying though is that if i run these tests again they will usually pass. What i want to know is if there is a way for me to auto rerun the tests (probably in the code) if a perticular type of exception is caught... I have attempted to put a few lines of code in the catch statement but i know this is a very hacky way of re running the tests. Here is the code: catch (AssertionException e) { if (e.Message() == "TimeOut") //Something similar to this { this.Test(); } else { verificationErrors.AppendLine(browserList[i] + " :: " + e.Message); } } Any suggestions?

  • why it is up to the compiler to decide what value to assign when assigning an out-of-range value to

    - by Allopen
    in C++ Primer 4th edition 2.1.1, it says "when assigning an out-of-range value to a signed type, it is up to the compiler to decide what value to assign". I can't understand it. I mean, if you have code like "char 5 = 299", certainly the compiler will generate asm code like "mov BYTE PTR _sc$[ebp], 43"(VC) or "movb $43, -2(%ebp)"(gcc+mingw), it IS decided by the compiler. but what if we assign a value that is given by the user input? like, via command line? and the asm code generated will be "movb %al, -1(%ebp)"(gcc+mingw) and " mov cl, BYTE PTR _i$[ebp] mov BYTE PTR _sc$[ebp], cl "(VC), so now how can compiler decide what will happen? I think now it is decided by the CPU. Can you give me a clear explanation?

Do I have a problem with my code?

    Hi I have to create an app that drills into a specific drive, reads all file names and replaces illegal SharePoint characters with underscores. The illegal characters I am referring to are: ~ # % & * {} / \ | : <> ? - "" Can someone provide either a link to code or code itself on how to do this? I am VERY new to C# and need all the help i can possibly get. I have researched code on recursively drilling through a drive but i am not sure how to put the character replace and the recursive looping together. Please help!

  • Long key press handling in android 1.5

    - by Kaillash
    Hi, I want to handle key press and long key press for the key code KEYCODE_BACK(back button). can any one suggest me how to do this in android 1.5(API level 3). Here is the code. public boolean onKeyDown(int keyCode, KeyEvent event) { if (keyCode == KeyEvent.KEYCODE_BACK) { if(event.getRepeatCount()==0) { // normal key press // But problem is, this code is hitting for long press also, how to avoid this } else { // Long key press //Do something here } // Always consume back key event by returning true //so that default behavior of back is overrided return true; } return super.onKeyDown(keyCode, event); }

  • Is there a way to force JUnit to fail on ANY unchecked exception, even if swallowed

    - by Uri
    I am using JUnit to write some higher level tests for legacy code that does not have unit tests. Much of this code "swallows" a variety of unchecked exceptions like NullPointerExceptions (e.g., by just printing stack trace and returning null). Therefore the unit test can pass even through there is a cascade of disasters at various points in the lower level code. Is there any way to have a test fail on the first unchecked exception even if they are swallowed? The only alternative I can think of is to write a custom JUnit wrapper that redirects System.err and then analyzes the output for exceptions.

  • Why does Perl allow mutual "use" relationships between modules?

    - by Haiyuan Zhang
    Let's say there are two modules that mutually use each other: package a; use b; sub p {} 1; package b; use a; 1; I think that it is systematically wrong to write code like the above, because the two modules will endlessly copy each other's code to themselves, but I can successfully run the following code, which makes me very surprised. Could any of you explain all of this to me? #! /usr/bin/perl use a; a->p();

  • How to set full control to a directory??

    - by smwikipedia
    I am using the following simple code to add full control to a directory, but it doesn't work. String dir_name = @"folder_full_path"; DirectorySecurity dir_security = Directory.GetAccessControl(dir_name); FileSystemAccessRule access_rule = new FileSystemAccessRule(@"AccountName", FileSystemRights.FullControl, AccessControlType.Allow); dSecurity.AddAccessRule(access_rule); Directory.SetAccessControl(dir_name, dir_security); But this code only set special permissions to the target folder. This code is almost the same as the MSDN sample. I am scratching my head for a reasonable explanation... Hope someone could shed some light on me. Many thanks.

  • HRESULT exception not caught in VS 2008

    - by arionik
    Hello all, I've got a stange situation in visual studio 2008 C++. I work on code that was originally written for visual studio 2003, where everything works well. Now, ported to VS 2008, the exception handling, which unfortuantely exists widely in the code, does not work anymore. standard code example: try { HRESULT hr = S_OK; // do stuff... if( FAILED( hr ) ) throw hr; } catch( HRESULT hr ) { // error handling, but we never get here } catch( ... ) { // ... not even here } Under VS 2008, no exception is encountered, but I get a crash somewhere else, indicating that the stack pointer must be screwed up. Did anybody come across this behaviour? Any help is appreciated.

  • Backbone.js "model" query

    - by Novice coder
    I'm a learning coder trying to understand this code from a sample MVC framework. The below code is from a "model" file. I've done research on Backbone.js, but I'm still confused as to exactly how this code pull information from the app's database. For example, how are base_url, Model.prototype, and Collection.prototype being used to retrieve information from the backend? Any help would be greatly appreciated. exports.definition = { config : { "defaults": { "title": "-", "description": "-" }, "adapter": { "type": "rest", "collection_name": "schools", "base_url" : "/schools/", } }, extendModel: function(Model) { _.extend(Model.prototype, { // Extend, override or implement Backbone.Model urlRoot: '/school/', name:'school', parse: function(response, options) { response.id = response._id; return response; }, }); return Model; }, extendCollection: function(Collection) { _.extend(Collection.prototype, { // Extend, override or implement Backbone.Collection urlRoot: '/schools/', name: 'schools', }); return Collection; } }

  • Help creating a dll for a custom control

    - by Chapso
    I'm going to ask a newbie question here. I need to use a control I found online in my code, but it was written in the wrong language. It is in C# and I am using VB.net for work. I have all of the code for the control which works beautifully in C#, but I had issues with it not working very well in VB. The source code and a demo project are available here, but I am not sure exactly which files I should use to build the dll for VB. It seems a lot to ask, but would someone mind taking a look and pointing me in the right direction? Cheers

  • Why call iframe from javascript

    - by sammville
    I want to know why some ad codes or embed codes don't directly give you iframe code to embed on your site instead they give a javascript code which links to another javascript file on their server. The file on their server calls the iframe which serves the content. Why is this done and what are the benefits of this method. Example: this is the code issued by amazon: <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.assoc-amazon.co.uk/s/ads.js"></script> Which opens another javascript file that calls the iframe.

  • FindControl() method throws ArithmeticException?

    - by Mark Struzinski
    I have a line of C# in my ASP.NET code behind that looks like this: DropDownList ddlStates = (DropDownList)fvAccountSummary.FindControl("ddlStates"); The DropDownList control is explicitly declared in the markup on the page, not dynamically created. It is inside of a FormView control. When my code hits this line, I am getting an ArithmeticException with the message "Value was either too large or too small for an Int32." This code has worked previously, and is in production right now. I fired up VS2008 to make some changes to the site, but before I changed anything, I got this exception from the page. Anyone seen this one before?

  • Confused by "let" in Clojure

    - by Tom Dalling
    I just started playing with Clojure, and I wrote a small script to help me understand some of the functions. It begins like this: (def *exprs-to-test* [ "(filter #(< % 3) '(1 2 3 4 3 2 1))" "(remove #(< % 3) '(1 2 3 4 3 2 1))" "(distinct '(1 2 3 4 3 2 1))" ]) Then it goes through *exprs-to-test*, evaluates them all, and prints the output like this: (doseq [exstr *exprs-to-test*] (do (println "===" (first (read-string exstr)) "=========================") (println "Code: " exstr) (println "Eval: " (eval (read-string exstr))) ) ) The above code is all working fine. However, (read-string exstr) is repeated so I tried to use let to eliminate the repetition like so: (doseq [exstr *exprs-to-test*] (let [ex (read-string exstr)] ( (do (println "===" (first ex) "=========================") (println "Code: " exstr) (println "Eval: " (eval ex)) ) )) ) But this works once for the first item in *exprs-to-test*, then crashes with a NullPointerException. Why is the addition of let causing the crash?

  • c++ Sorting a vector based on values of other vector, or what's faster?

    - by pollux
    Hi, There are a couple of other posts about sorting a vector A based on values in another vector B. Most of the other answers tell to create a struct or a class to combine the values into one object and use std::sort. Though I'm curious about the performance of such solutions as I need to optimize code which implements bubble sort to sort these two vectors. I'm thinking to use a vector<pair<int,int>> and sort that. I'm working on a blob-tracking application (image analysis) where I try to match previously tracked blobs against newly detected blobs in video frames where I check each of the frames against a couple of previously tracked frames and of course the blobs I found in previous frames. I'm doing this at 60 times per second (speed of my webcam). Any advice on optimizing this is appreciated. The code I'm trying to optimize can be shown here: http://code.google.com/p/projectknave/source/browse/trunk/knaveAddons/ofxBlobTracker/ofCvBlobTracker.cpp?spec=svn313&r=313 Thanks

To make it clear more im here by pasting my java Encoding part EditText SearchField=(EditText)findViewById(R.id.editText1); String SearchValue= SearchField.getText().toString(); Now the encoding code in Asynctask is data +="&" + URLEncoder.encode("data", "UTF-8") + "="+SearchValue; Now the PHP part where i decoded this code $data = urldecode($_POST['data']); Please help me how to encode/decode this given format ... • c++: truth assignment warning with arguments?

    - by John
    I use the following to work with arguments in my programs, but it seems to just hand me a warning (just a warning): "warning: suggest parentheses around assignment used as truth value" The beginning of the code is as follows: enum{OPT_DISP_H = 0x2, OPT_DISP_W = 0x1}; int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { int opt = 0x00; char c; while((++argv)[0] && argv[0][0]=='-'){ while(c =* ++argv[0]) switch(c){ case 'h': opt |= OPT_DISP_H; break; //etc.. The while(c =* ++argv[0]) part being where the warning persists. The code works fine, but what does this warning mean opposed to what is used? I think the code is c = *++argv[0], using the pointer. So why does the single = work and what is really recommended to be used?
