• Matlab wont extract first row & column because of matrix dimensions !

  Hey guys, I am tracking an object that is thrown in air, and this object governs a parabolic pattern. Im tracking the object through a series of 30 images. I managed to exclude all the background and keep the object apparent, then used its centroid to get its coordinates and plot them. Now im supposed to predict where the object is going to fall, so I used polyfit & polyval .. the problem is, matlab says ??? Index exceeds matrix dimensions. Now the centroid creates its own structure with a row and 2 columns. Everytime the object moves in the loop, it updates the first row only .. Here is part of the code : For N=1:30 . . . x=centroid(1,1); % extract first row and column for x y=centroid(1,2); % extract secnd row and column for x plot_xy=plot(x,y) set(plot_xy,'XData',x(1:N),'YData',y(1:N)); fitting=polyfit(x(1:N),y(1:N),2); parabola=plot(x,nan(23,1)); evaluate=polyval(fitting,x); set(parabola,'YData',evaluate) . . end The error message I get is ??? Index exceeds matrix dimensions. It seems that (1:N) is causing the problems .. I honestly do not know why .. But when I remove N, the object is plotted along with its points, but polyfitting wont work, it gives me an error saying : Warning: Polynomial is not unique; degree >= number of data points. > In polyfit at 72 If I made it (1:N-1) or something, it plots more points before it starts giving me the same error (not unique ...) . • Jquery Plugins/Autocomplete Special Char problem

• Question SpeechSynthesizer.SetOutputToAudioStream audio format problem

  Hi, I'm currently working on an application which requires transmission of speech encoded to a specific audio format. System.Speech.AudioFormat.SpeechAudioFormatInfo synthFormat = new System.Speech.AudioFormat.SpeechAudioFormatInfo(System.Speech.AudioFormat.EncodingFormat.Pcm, 8000, 16, 1, 16000, 2, null); This states that the audio is in PCM format, 8000 samples per second, 16 bits per sample, mono, 16000 average bytes per second, block alignment of 2. When I attempt to execute the following code there is nothing written to my MemoryStream instance; however when I change from 8000 samples per second up to 11025 the audio data is written successfully. I have a workaround involving a wav file that I generated and converted to the correct sample rate using some sound editing tools, but I would like to generate the audio from within the application if I can. One particular point of interest was that the SpeechRecognitionEngine accepts that audio format and successfully recognized the speech in my synthesized wave file... Update: Recently discovered that this audio format succeeds for certain installed voices, but fails for others. It fails specifically for LH Michael and LH Michelle, and failure varies for certain voice settings defined in the PromptBuilder.

• deleted gen folder, eclipse isn't generating it now :(

  I accidentally deleted my gen folder and now, predictably, my resources are all messed up. I just created a gen folder myself and tried to project clean - that didn't work. Tried right-clicking project and going to android tools fix project properties - didn't work. Tried unchecking build automatically...didn't work. cleaned, closed project, closed eclipse, restarted, etc, etc. Nothing is working and I keep seeing this error: gen already exists but is not a source folder. Convert to a source folder or rename it. • Escaping Code for Different Shells

  Question: What characters do I need to escape in a user-entered string to securely pass it into shells on Windows and Unix? What shell differences and version differences should be taken into account? Can I use printf "%q" somehow, and is that reliable across shells? Backstory (a.k.a. Shameless Self-Promotion): I made a little DSL, the Vision Web Template Language, which allows the user to create templates for X(HT)ML documents and fragments, then automatically fill them in with content. It's designed to separate template logic from dynamic content generation, in the same way that CSS is used to separate markup from presentation. In order to generate dynamic content, a Vision script must defer to a program written in a language that can handle the generation logic, such as Perl or Python. (Aside: using PHP is also possible, but Vision is intended to solve some of the very problems that PHP perpetuates.) In order to do this, the script makes use of the @system directive, which executes a shell command and expands to its output. (Platform-specific generation can be handled using @unix or @windows, which only expand on the proper platform.) When ever I change the drop down value from 'Select' to another I am displaying my grid view with people picker. Everything is working fine. • Countdown timer using NSTimer in "0:00" format

  I have been researching for days on how to do this and nobody has an answer. I am creating an app with 5 timers on the same view. I need to create a timer that counts down from "15:00" (minutes and seconds), and, another that counts down from "2:58" (minutes and seconds). The 15 minute timer should not repeat, but it should stop all other timers when it reaches "00:00." The "2:58" timer should repeat until the "15:00" or "Game Clock" reaches 0. Right now, I have scrapped almost all of my code and I'm working on the "2:58" repeating timer, or "rocketTimer." Does anyone know how to do this? • CSS - changing the font color for a from select option in firefox

  I'm building a website for my church, and I'm teaching myself all about web design along the way. http://www.wilmingtonchurchofgod.org/contact_us.html is the link where you can see my issue. If you look at that page in firefox, and you click the select part of the form (next to, "Who would you like to contact?") you will see that when you hover over a choice, the font is white. I have tried various things to fix this, but can't find a solution. This seems to be specific to Firefox.   I have a project using libavcodec (ffmpeg). I'm using it to encode MPEG-2 video at 4:2:2 Profile, Main Level. I have the pixel format PIX_FMT_YUV422P selected in the AVCodecContext, however the video output I'm getting has all the colours wrong, and looks to me like the encoder is incorrectly reading the buffers as though it thinks it is 4:2:0 chroma rather than 4:2:2.   I am having some issues involving Parallel for loops and adding to a List. The problem is, the same code may generate different output at different times. I have set up some test code below. In this code, I create a List of 10,000 int values. 1/10th of the values will be 0, 1/10th of the values will be 1, all the way up to 1/10th of the values being 9. After setting up this List, I setup a Parallel for loop that iterates through the list. If the current number is 0, I add a value to a new List. After the Parallel for loop completes, I output the size of the list. The size should always be 1,000. Most of the time, the correct answer is given. However, I have seen 3 possible incorrect outcomes occur: The size of the list is less than 1,000 An IndexOutOfRangeException occurs @ doubleList.Add(0.0); An ArgumentException occurs @ doubleList.Add(0.0); The message for the ArgumentException given was: Destination array was not long enough. Check destIndex and length, and the array's lower bounds. What could be causing the errors? Is this a .Net bug? Is there something I can do to prevent this from happening? Please try the code for yourself. If you do not get an error, try it a few times. • Why do I get rows of zeros in my 2D fft?

  I am trying to replicate the results from a paper. "Two-dimensional Fourier Transform (2D-FT) in space and time along sections of constant latitude (east-west) and longitude (north-south) were used to characterize the spectrum of the simulated flux variability south of 40degS." - Lenton et al(2006) The figures published show "the log of the variance of the 2D-FT". I have tried to create an array consisting of the seasonal cycle of similar data as well as the noise. I have defined the noise as the original array minus the signal array. Using fftshift shifts the edges of the image to the centre; I still have a power spectrum regardless. I expect that the reason that I get rows of zeros is that I have re-created the timeseries for each pixel. The ft[0, 0] pixel contains the mean of the signal. So the ft[1, 0] corresponds to a sinusoid with one cycle over the entire signal in the rows of the starting image. Here are is the starting image using following code: plt.pcolormesh(signal_time_lon); plt.colorbar(); plt.axis('tight') Here is result using following code: ft = np.fft.rfft2(signal_time_lon) mgft = np.abs(ft) ps = mgft**2 log_ps = np.log1p(mgft) plt.pcolormesh(log_ps); plt.colorbar(); plt.axis('tight') It may not be clear in the image but it is only every second row that contains completely zeros. Every tenth pixel (log_ps[10, 0]) is a high value. The other pixels (log_ps[2, 0], log_ps[4, 0] etc) have very low values.

  Consider the following function: void f(const char* str); Suppose I want to generate a string using stringstream and pass it to this function. If I want to do it in one statement, I might try: f((std::ostringstream() << "Value: " << 5).str().c_str()); // error This gives an error: 'str()' is not a member of 'basic_ostream'. OK, so operator<< is returning ostream instead of ostringstream - how about casting it back to an ostringstream? 1) Is this cast safe? f(static_cast<std::ostringstream&>(std::ostringstream() << "Value: " << 5).str().c_str()); // incorrect output Now with this, it turns out for the operator<<("Value: ") call, it's actually calling ostream's operator<<(void*) and printing a hex address. This is wrong, I want the text. 2) Why does operator<< on the temporary std::ostringstream() call the ostream operator? Surely the temporary has a type of 'ostringstream' not 'ostream'? I can cast the temporary to force the correct operator call too! f(static_cast<std::ostringstream&>(static_cast<std::ostringstream&>(std::ostringstream()) << "Value: " << 5).str().c_str()); This appears to work and passes "Value: 5" to f(). 3) Am I relying on undefined behavior now? The casts look unusual. I'm aware the best alternative is something like this: std::ostringstream ss; ss << "Value: " << 5; f(ss.str().c_str()); ...but I'm interested in the behavior of doing it in one line. Suppose someone wanted to make a (dubious) macro: #define make_temporary_cstr(x) (static_cast<std::ostringstream&>(static_cast<std::ostringstream&>(std::ostringstream()) << x).str().c_str()) // ... f(make_temporary_cstr("Value: " << 5)); Would this function as expected?

  I need to create a reusable UI component that accepts a number of parameters (e.g. an image URL and some label text), similar to how JSP tags can accept parameters. The Pivot docs for the "wtkx:include" tag say: The tag allows a WTKX file to embed content defined in an external WTKX file as if it was defined in the source file itself. • iPhone App is leaking memory; Instruments and Clang cannot find the leak

  Hi, i've developed an iPhone program which is kind of an image manipulation program: The user get an UIImagePickerController and selects an image. Then the program does some heavy calculating in a new thread (for responsiveness of the application). The thread has, of course, its own autorelease pool. When calculation is done, the seperated thread signals the main thread that the result can be presented. The app creates a new view controller, pushes it onto the navigation controller. In short: UIImagePickerController new thread (autorelease pool) does some heavy calculation with image data signal to main thread that it's done main thread creates view controller and pushes it onto navigation controller view controller presents image result My program works well, but if I dismiss the navigation controller's top view controller by tapping on the back button and repeat the whole process several times, my app crashes. But only on the device! Instruments cannot find any leaks (except for some minor ones which I don't feel responsible for: thread creation, NSCFString; overall about 10 kB). Even Clang static analyzer tells me that my could seems to be all right. I know that the UIImage class can cache images and objects returned from convenience methods get freed only whet their autorelease pool gets drained. But most of the time I work with CGImageRef and I use UIImage' alloc, init & release methods to free memory as soon as possible. Currently, I don't know how to isolate the problem. How would you approach this problem? • Flash Buttons Don't Work: TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null objec

  I've read through several threads about this error, but haven't been able to apply it to figure out my situation... My flash file is an approx 5 second animation. Then, the last keyframe of each layer (frame #133) has a button in it. My flash file should stop on this last key frame, and you should be able to click on any of the 6 buttons to navigate to another html page in my website. The test movie does stop on the appropriate frame, but the buttons don't do anything (no URL is opened, and the trace statements don't show up in the output box when the buttons are clicked on the test movie). I also tried deleting each of the three function/addEventListener sections one at a time and testing, and I still got the 1009 error every time. If I delete ALL of the action script except for the "stop ()" line, then I do NOT get the 1009 error. Any ideas?? I'm very new to Flash, so if I haven't clarified something that I need to, let me know!

• Getting jQuery slideshow animation to stop on click

  I have a slide show built with jQuery that pauses on hover. It has a group of thumbnails sitting on top of the image that advances the image when clicked, otherwise the slideshow just auto-rotates through all the images. There is also a +/- to expand and contract a caption related to each image. I want to have the slideshow's automatic advancing to stop if one of the thumbnails is clicked, or the +/-. Basically, just stop whenever a user clicks anywhere within the gallery (div class=".homeImg"). I'm having a major brain fart in getting this working properly and could use some advice. • Display an Image using C# in Web Application

  Hello again, I have a Web Application that I built a C# class in that generates a Report. This report takes nearly 40 seconds to generate because it searches hundreds of folders for certain files. So I was hoping there was a way to display a "Loading.." icon as this report is generating. I have a gif stored in my Images folder that would be perfect. The research that I've done at this point mostly talks about picturebox's and image controls that can hold the image but I was hoping there was just a way of displaying the image above the report while its being created. The Web Application is from a Web ADF Geocortex website and again I created a C# class that generates this report.
