• Help with Django localization--doesn't seem to be working. Nothing happens

• Problem using PHP to open text file - blank spaces are removed

  Hi All, I'm trying to open and process ASCII files using PHP, but am having problems. The problem is that the blank spaces are removed, which I don't want to have happen, since the files are fixed width. The PHP script I used is this: $myFile = Test.SEG"; $file_handler = fopen ($myFile, r) or die ("Can't open SEG File."); while (!feof($file_handler)) { $dataline = fgets($file_handler); echo $dataline, ""; } I tried pasting samples of the original file in here, but the spaces were removed here as well! At this stage I'm just building the script in steps, getting one step working at a time, but this is as far as I've gotten. I plan to use substr() on '$dataline' to pick out the fields I need. Any suggestions on how to keep the spaces intact? Something tells me it's something to do with encoding, but I don't know for sure. Thanks!

• Opposite of Bloom filter?

  Hi, I'm trying to optimize a piece of software which is basically running millions of tests. These tests are generated in such a way that there can be some repetitions. Of course, I don't want to spend time running tests which I already ran if I can avoid it efficiently. So, I'm thinking about using a Bloom filter to store the tests which have been already ran. However, the Bloom filter errs on the unsafe side for me. It gives false positives. That is, it may report that I've ran a test which I haven't. Although this could be acceptable in the scenario I'm working on, I was wondering if there's an equivalent to a Bloom filter, but erring on the opposite side, that is, only giving false negatives. I've skimmed through the literature without any luck.

• Rails app is prepending tunnlr web address when using link helpers

  I set up facebooker to tunnel my Ruby on Rails application. The issue is that I would like to test locally. That is, I don't want to have to start a tunnel every time I want to see my changes. Right now, when I start the application using ruby script/server (not calling rake facebooker:tunnel:background_start beforehand), links created by helpers (e.g., stylesheet_link_tag, javascript_include_tag, image_tag) are prepended with my tunnlr address: http://web1.tunnlr.com:myPort/. (For example, a CSS link looks like this in the page source: http://web1.tunnlr.com:myPort//stylesheets/appName.css?1234567890.) I don't want that functionality; I can't see my CSS or JavaScript changes without starting the tunnel first. I want the links to be relative to what's running on my machine, not the tunnel. So, stylesheet_link_tag should produce /stylesheets/appName.css?1234567890. Does anyone know why it's doing that in the first place and how to fix it? Thanks in advance.

According to my understanding if i check "sync contacts from the account" option , i must be able to access contacts in the exchange account i have configured. But i don't know how to get/access these contacts in android email application.   I have an abstract Java class MyAbstractClass with a private method. There is a concrete implementation MyConcreteClass. public class MyAbstractClass { private void somePrivateMethod(); } public class MyConcreteClass extends MyAbstractClass { // implementation details } In my groovy test class I have class MyAbstractClassTest { void myTestMethod() { MyAbstractClass mac = new MyConcreteClass() mac.somePrivateMethod() } } I get an error that there is no such method signature for somePrivateMethod. I know groovy can call private methods but I'm guessing the problem is that the private method is in the super class, not MyConcreteClass. Is there a way to invoke a private method in the super class like this (other than using something like PrivateAccessor)? thanks Jeff

  I am using jquery load method to update divs , it works great until I test my code under IE6. The problem is : under IE6 , when I click a button to trigger a load method , the page is remaining unchanged until I move my cursor, that means if I click my mouse and keep my hand away from the mouse , the page is unchanged , if I move the mouse , the page is updated. This problem is only occurred under IE6 . IE7 , IE8, Firefox all have no problem. Have you guys ever encountered this kind of problem ?

I just cannot see any updates on bob.txt. Is this a permission error in windows? It works fine on my laptop at home. I also cannot change the php files on my website, using filezilla.

I've written test cases to cover every possible path through that switch statement, but it still reports a branch in the switch statement as not taken and less than 100% on the "Taken at least once" stat.   Dear experts, I was trying to dynamically generate DOM elements using JS. I read from Douglas Crockford's book that DOM is very very poorly structured. Anyways, I would like to create a number of DIVISION elements and store the reference into an array so it could be accessed later. Here's the code for(i=0;i<3;i++){ var div=document.body.appendChild(document.createElement("div")); var arr=new Array(); arr.push(div); } Somehow this would not work..... The documentation doesn't show any aditional configuration for ehcache, just for jboss cache.   First off, I'm using Tomcat 5.5 and my .jsp's live in /webapps/foo/bar/*.jsp. I followed the directions here to set up a default 404 error page. In my TOMCAT_HOME/conf/web.xml I entered: <error-page> <error-code>404</error-code> <location>/error.html</location> </error-page> I dropped copies of a test error.html file into each of the dirs (I wasn't sure where /error.html was referring to): /webapps/ /webapps/foo/ /webapps/foo/bar/ Whenever I attempt to access a non-existent page in a browser at url's /foo/missingpage.html or /foo/bar/missingpage.html I'm redirected to my error page that exists in /foo/error.html. However, attempting to access a non-existent page in a browser at url /missingpage.html yields a blankpage. Or any permutation of /missingDir/missingfile.html will also yield a blank page.   On a new Rackspace Cloud Server box (Ubuntu 9.10), I've installed apache2, libapache2-mod-mono, and mod-mono-server2. I've disabled mod_mono and enabled mod_mono_auto, but whatever I do, requests for Default.aspx return the actual contents of Default.aspx (in this case, "This is a marker file generated by the precompilation tool, and should not be deleted!") I've installed XSP, and it looks like it works okay, but I'd like to use Apache with mod_mono (seems a more common configuration) if I can get it running. However, this is no error messages and no hints, with Google obviously not terribly helpful. What else can I look for to make sure I'm configured correctly? How can I test further?

• Debugging a release version of a DLL (with PDB file)

  If I have a DLL (that was built in release-mode) and the corresponding PDB file, is it possible to debug (step-into) classes/methods contained in that DLL? If so, what are the required steps/configuration (e.g. where to put the PDB file)? Edit: If have the PDB file in the same place as the DLL (in the bin/debug directory of a simple console test application). I can see that the symbols for the DLL are loaded (in the Output window and also in the Modules window), but still I cannot step into the methods of that DLL. Could this be the result of compiler optimizations (as described by Michael in his answer)?

• Testing complex entities

  I've got a C# form, with various controls on it. The form controls an ongoing process, and there are many, many aspects that need to be right for the program to run correctly. Each part can be unit tested (for instance, loading some coefficients, drawing some diagnostics) but I often run into problems that are best described with an example: "If I click here, then here, then change this, then re-open the form, then click here, it crashes or produces an error" I've tried my best to use common code organisational ideas (inheritance, DRY, separation of concerns) but there never seems to be a way to test every single path, and inevitably, a form with several controls will have a huge number of ways to execute. What can I read (preferably online) that addresses this kind of issue, and is there a (non-generic) term for it. This isn't a specific problem I'm having, but one that creeps up on me, especially with WinForms.
