• Implementing Unit Testing with the iPhone SDK

  Hi, So I've followed this tutorial to setup unit testing on my app when I got a little stuck. At bullet point 8 in that tutorial it shows this image, which is what I should be expecting when I build: However this isn't what I get when I build. But why am I getting this extra build fail? It may also be of note that when downloading solutions/templates which should work out the box, I get the same error. I'm guessing I've set something up wrong here but I've just followed a tutorial 100% correctly!! If anyone could help I'd be very grateful! Thanks EDIT: According to this blog, this post and a few other websites, I'm not the only one getting this problem. It has been like this since the release of xCode 3.2, assuming the apple dev center documents and tutorials etc are pre-3.2 as well. However some say its a known issue whereas others seem to think this was intentional. I for one would like both the extended console and in code messages, and I certainly do not like the "Command /bin/sh..." error and really think they would have documented such an update. Hopefully it will be fixed soon anyway. UPDATE: Here's confirmation it's something changed since the release of xCode 3.2.1. This image: is from my test build using 3.2.1. • OpenID and Iframes

  hey guys, I'm having a little bit of trouble making OpenID work from within an iframe. basically I have some heavy handed content loaded on the main page and I want to build a log in system where the page doesn't need to be reloaded (and thus reload all of that content again). I fell in love with OpenID from using stack exchange websites, and have intergrated it relatively well into other projects. I'm assuming that this is a counter measure put in place to stop me stealing login details (thats not what i'm trying to achieve btw, hence the preamble), and thats fair enough, but still bloody aggravating. is there any thing here that i'm doing retardedly, is there some way round this, and if neither of the above, is my only other options to create new windows or build my own login/registration. • "Invalid form control" only in Google Chrome

  The code below works well in Safari but in Chrome and Firefox the form will not submit. Chrome console logs the error An invalid form control with name='' is not focusable. Any ideas? Note that whilst the controls below do not have names, they should have names at the time of submission, populated by the Javascript below. • SimpleXMLElement (PHP) throwing error on XML root attributes

  I am working on a project that will take XML data submitted through a textarea input in a form then extract the data and throw it into a database. I am getting errors about the attribute in the root field of my XML (it is the same schema each time, but with different values). • Why do jQuery fadeIn() and fadeOut() seem quirky in this example?

  I've been playing with jQuery in an ASP.NET project and am finding some odd behavior with the .fadeIn() and fadeOut() functions. In the below example, a click on the button (ID Button1) is supposed to cause both the span of text with ID Label1 and the the button with the ID TextBox1 to do the following things: Fade Out Change the text of both the text box and the span of text to be You clicked the button Fade In Based on the browser I'm using, I get 3 different scenarios, and each element functions differently in each situation. Here's what happens when I actually click the button: TextBox1: In IE8, the text box fades out, changes text, then fades back in In IE8 Compatibility View, the text box fades out, changes text, then fades back in. However, the text in the box looks a little different than before the button was clicked. In FireFox 3.5.8, the text box doesn't fade out (but it does "pause" for the amount of time the fade would take), does change the text, then seems to "pause" again where it would be fading in. Label1: In IE8, the label doesn't fade out (but it does "pause" for the amount of time the fade would take), does change the text, then seems to "pause" again where it would be fading in. • How to structure a Kohana MVC application with dynamically added fields and provide validation and f

  I've got a bit of a problem. I have a Kohana application that has dynamically added fields. The fields that are added are called DISA numbers. In the model I look these up and the result is returned as an array. I encode the array into a JSON string and use JQuery to populate them The View knows the length of the array and so creates as many DISA elements as required before display. See the code below for a summary of how that works. What I'm finding is that this is starting to get difficult to manage. The code is becoming messy. Error handling of this type of dynamic content is ending up being spread all over the place. Not only that, it doesn't work how I want. What you see here is just a small snippet of code. For error handling I am using the validation library. I started by using add_rules on all the fields that come back in the post. As they are always phone numbers I set a required rule (when it's there) and a digit rule on the validation-as_array() keys. That works. The difficulty is actually giving it back to the view. i.e. dynamically added javascript field. Submits back to form. Save contents into a session. View has to load up fields from database + those from the previous post and signal the fields that have problems. It's all quite messy and I'm getting this code spread through both the view the controller and the model. So my question is. Have you done this before in Kohana and how have you handled it? There must be an easier way right? • Two UIViews, one UIViewController (in one UINavigationController)

  Given an iPhone app with a UITableViewController pushed onto a UINavigationController, I would like to add a right bar button item to toggle between the table view and an "alternate" view of the same data. Let's also say that this other view uses the same data but is not a UITableView. Now, I know variations on this question already exist on Stack Overflow. However, in this case, that alternate view would not be pushed onto the UINavigationController. It would be visually akin to flipping the current UIViewController's table view over and revealing the other view, then being able to flip back. In other words, it's intended to take up a single spot in the UINavigationController hierarchy. Moreover, whatever selection you ultimately make from within either view will push a common UIViewController onto the UINavigationController stack. Still more info: We don't want to use a separate UINavigationController just to handle this pair of views, and we don't want to split these apart via a UITabBarController either. Visually and contextually, the UX is meant to show two sides of the same coin. It's just that those two sides happen to involve their own View Controllers in normal practice. Now … it turns out I have already gone and quickly set this up to see how it might work! However, upon stepping back to examine it, I get the distinct impression that I went about it in a rather non-MVC way, which of course concerns me a bit. Here's what I did at a high level. Right now, I have a UIViewController (not a UITableViewController) that handles all commonalities between the two views, such as fetching the raw data. I also have two NIBs, one for each view, and two UIView objects to go along with them. (One of them is a UITableView, which is a kind of UIView.) I switch between the views using animation (easy enough). Also, in an effort to keep things encapsulated, the now-split-apart UITableView (not the UIViewController!) acts as its own delegate and data source, fetching data from the VC. The VC is set up as a weak, non-retained object in the table view. In parallel, the alternate view gets at the raw data from the VC in the exact same way. So, there are a few things that smell funny here. The weak linking from child to parent, while polite, seems like it might be wrong. Making a UITableView the table's data source and delegate also seems odd to me, thinking that a view controller is where you want to put that per Apple's MVC diagrams. As it stands now, it would appear as if the view knows about the model, which isn't good. Loading up both views in advance also seems odd, because lazy loading is no longer in effect. Losing the benefits of a UITableViewController (like auto-scrolling to cells with text fields) is also a bit frustrating, and I'd rather not reinvent the wheel to work around that as well. Given all of the above, and given we want that "flip effect" in the context of a single spot on a single UINavigationController, and given that both views are two sides of the same coin, is there a better, more obvious way to design this that I'm just happening to miss completely? Clues appreciated!

• Dropdownlist post in ASP.NET MVC3 and Entity Framework Model

  I have 3 tables: RateProfile RateProfileID ProfileName Rate RateID RateProfileID PanelID Other stuff to update Panel PanelID PanelName I have models for each of these. I have an edit page using the RateProfile model. I display the information for RateProfile and also all of the Rates associated with it. This works fine and I can update it fine. However, I also added a dropdown so that I can filter Rates by PanelID. I need it to post back on change so that it can display the filtered rates. I'm using @Html.DropDownList("PanelID", (SelectList)ViewData["PanelDropDown"], new { onchange = "$('#RateForm').submit()" }) for my dropdownlist. Whenever it posts back to my HttpPost Edit method though, it seems to be missing all information about the Rates navigation property. It's weird because I thought it would do exactly what the input/submit button that I have in the form does (which actually passes the entire model back to my HttpPost Edit action and does what I want it to do). The panelID is properly being passed to my HttpPost Edit method and on to the next view, but when I try to query the Model.Rates navigation property is null (only when the post comes from the dropdown. Everything works fine when the post comes from my submit input). • Twitter Bootstrap modal spans, side-by-side divs and "control-group"?

  I'm trying my best to have a good looking modal login form but for some reasons it seems that no matter how I nest divs, I cannot obtain the proper shape. What I need is a big "lock" image side-by-side with a username/password form. The best I could do adds a horizontal scroller by the modal bottom and shows the input gadgets fairly distant from the image partly hidden on the right side of the modal canvas. Inspecting with FireBug it seems that the spans in row-fluid are ok but the "control-label" and "controls" class adds way too much space on the left by width (for the labels) and margin-left (for the controls). How would you solve it? Am I doing something wrong with divs and classes nesting? • Openfire and LDAP issues

  Thanks in advance for the help. Has anyone see this issue with openfire? Currently I use Openfire Fedora with Auth using windows 2003 and also use mysql for the database. When I bring up two clients and talk to each other the time is slow between messages. Sometimes it can take between 5-15 minutes for something sent to get to the person (this is with only two people on the openfire server). I ran a tcp dump using port 389 and see that the machine is running thousands of queries against ldap. When i plug it into wireshark I notice that it is transferring the entire contact list or checking on the status of the entire contact list ? I tweaked the settings as recommend by the pages and still get the same issues. I doesnt seem to cache the contact list or this might be a feature never fixed or implemented. Has anyone gone through this before ? I have searched online and I see others have great experience with openfire with no issues like I have, or is it because noone checked the queries ? For the time being I created a new Domain Controller and moved openfire to that computer so it can run local queries. This seems to help reduce the speed alot, but when I run the server performance manager tool I see that with two people only using that openfire server I run 593.7 request per second.
