  Hi, everyone. I think you can help me out from this little problem. I am trying to setup an Apache web server on my PC and let the other remotes to this machine via DynDNS.com. I found that DLink DSL-2640T make me confuse about how to configure the routing from http://myhostname.dyndns.org:80 to 192.168.1.13:80. At the moment when I browse the URL http://myhostname.dyndns.org, it will lead me to router's admin control panel. Could you help me out by giving your guideline or suggestion?

• Load balancing with Cisco router

  I have a Cisco router with two bonded T1's which are setup as a VPN to the main office. We need more bandwidth but can't get other connections (or it's too costly), so I would like to have a dsl connection installed. This DSL connection will run over a VPN to the same main office, but it won't be bonded with the T1's - so it won't act as a single connection. Since the three circuits won't act as a single connection (basically would be two connections 2 T1's + 1 DSL) we would have to split the network in half - but I don't want to do that. Instead, would it be possible to send all HTTP/HTTPS over the DSL connection but send all mission critical data (such as voice/active directory) over the T1's? I basically want to send specific ports over DSL and everything else over the T1's without separating half of the users traffic over the DSL and the rest over the T1's.

• Fix ACPI DSDT of Amilo Pa 1538

  I have a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Pa 1538 laptops and installed Ubuntu 10.04 on it (Kernel 2.6.32). Main problem is that the fans of the notebook are always on even when the temperature is low. Another problem is that the display brightness can not be adjusted. Since some years I use Dell laptops and never experienced any ACPI problems so I thought that it is no longer needed to fix ACPI tables but now I have this crap of a laptop and I think I have to do it. Unfortunately I need some help repairing the DSDT. • Will disabling NAT on my wireless router cause a performance hit on my DSL router?

  I have a Thomson TG508v2 router/modem and a brand new AirPort Extreme connected to it. At first, I set the AirPort Extreme to "share a public IP", which enables DHCP/NAT. Everything works great but I was having the Double NAT error. So I set the AirPort Extreme as bridge mode, which disables DHCP/NAT and let my crappy modem handle my internal network IPs. Will this cause any performance hit in my network? I'm worried because I'll outsource this job from AirPort Extreme (premium hardware) to the crappy modem. Before you suggest, I tried setting my modem as a bridge and configuring PPPoE on the AirPort Extreme, however it wouldn't connect to the internet, so I just dismissed leaving the modem as bridge.

• Is there a tool for generating a DSL parser that does not require a runtime for the resultant parser

  I'm doing a lot of work with a DSLs at the moment and was wondering if anyone knew of a tool that could generate a parser for my bnf specification that does not require a run-time library (pure java source parser)? I'm committed to using XTEXT for a future Eclipse plug-in but I need a nice small version for my library itself and don't want to add another jar dependency. It seems that ANTLR requires a run-time to parse files and I performed a Google search with no avail. Can anyone help out? Thanks, Chris

• importing symbols from python package into caller's namespace

  I have a little internal DSL written in a single Python file that has grown to a point where I would like to split the contents across a number of different directories + files. The new directory structure currently looks like this: dsl/ __init__.py types/ __init__.py type1.py type2.py and each type file contains a class (e.g. Type1). My problem is that I would like to keep the implementation of code that uses this DSL as simple as possible, something like: import dsl x = Type1() ... This means that all of the important symbols should be available directly in the user's namespace. I have tried updating the top-level __init__.py file to import the relevant symbols: from types.type1 import Type1 from types.type2 import Type2 ... print globals() the output shows that the symbols are imported correctly, but they still aren't present in the caller's code (the code that's doing the import dsl). I think that the problem is that the symbols are actually being imported to the 'dsl' namespace. How can I change this so that the classes are also directly available in the caller's namespace?

• When I ping Internet addresses like yahoo or Google, I get 2 reply packets and 2 lost packets.

  I have Airtel broadband and a Tata broadband connection. i have around 50 PCs connecting through an airtel broadband connection. Both are dsl connections with my phone line going into dsl modems and an Ethernet cable going from dsl modem directly into a switch. Currently, only airtel connection is connected with static IP on my private lan and using the airtel ISP DNS servers as DNS IP address and the default gateway is 192.168.1.1 (IP add. of the dsl modem). All PCs are connected in a work group. When in full use, my users complain of certain web pages are not opening. When I ping Internet addresses like Yahoo or Google I get 2 reply packets and 2 lost packets. I suspect that a single broadband connection is not able to sustain 50 simultaneous downloads/browsing. Is there any device which connect to both DSL and make one line so that its give me high speed simultaneous browsing. Help needed urgently. Thank you all to those who reply.

D-link has DSL(RJ11) port (which I don't want to use as Asmax replacement, while there is a separate Ethernet cable with a TV plugged to Asmax, which I don't want to configure from scratch on D-link). How should I connect my new D-link to work with Asmax? Via DSL port? Via one of the LAN ports (in which case I probably should change the purpose of this port in the config, I guess?). I tried connecting D-link both ways: LAN(ASMAX) to LAN(DLINK) LAN(ASMAX) to DSL(DLINK) (using RJ11 - RJ45 cable) I hope there is some setting in the DLINK's config that I overlooked. • How can I use two Internet connections in Ubuntu?

Currently I can only get one of these to work at a time.   I'm trying to set up a redundant connection for our web hosting servers. I have a BGP-capable router connecting two lines from two separate ISP's, one fiber (primary), one DSL (failover). I've already confirmed that I can push routes into the DSL ISP's system, so long as they aren't malicious. My question is, what do I need to do on the fiber side to make those IP's routable through the DSL? Is there something I'm missing?

  this is an underpaid employee writing, who's apparently responsible for all the IT stuff in a very small (non-IT) company. Today said company got a bunch of PCs/workstations, a switch, a computer that's supposed to be used as a router, two DSL connections (each 16 MBit/s downstream and 1 MBit/s upstream) and a dedicated server which is hosted and managed professionally by a larger local company with some decent connection speed (1 GBit/s both directions if I'm not mistaken). This is what I've set up (note I'm not making use of the second DSL connection at all)... ETH0 ETH1 [ SWITCH ]---[LINUX DEBIAN ROUTER]---[DSL MODEM 1]---[INTERNET] | | | PC1 | | PC2 | ... ... when my boss asked me, if it was somehow possible to get 32 MBit/s downstream and 2 MBit/s upstream. At that time I replied "no" without thinking too much about it. Now I've just had the following idea... ETH1 ETH0 ETH0 ,---[DSL MODEM 1 (NON-STATIC IP)]---, ,---, ETH0 [ SWITCH ]---[LINUX DEBIAN ROUTER] [INTERNET] [LINUX DEBIAN SERVER]---[INTERNET] | | | '---[ DSL MODEM 2 (STATIC IP) ]---' '---' PC1 | | ETH2 ETH0 PC2 | ... ... but I have absolutely no clue how to implement that. Would that even be possible? What would the masquerading rules look like on the router? What about the server? I didn't find anything on the internet, mainly because I couldn't come up with any good keywords to search for to begin with. English obviously isn't my first language. • Configuring two subnets with two NICS. Access from a NAS to the internet

  I am having trouble configuring my NAS. I have a DSL router with WIFI (192.168.1.1) in my flatmates room. In my room I have a server with two NICS: 1) wlan0 (192.168.1.2) that connects to the DSL router via wireless 2) em1 (192.168.0.1) that connects to the NAS (192.168.0.20) with a crossover cable. I have Fedora 17 and I have enable packet forwarding. • Is there any way to retire a AT&T Yahoo Email Account

  Here are the facts as I (pretty sure) know them. Yahoo handles AT&T's DSL email accounts. I've called AT&T tech support and customer service and they say they can't help, but there has GOT to be a way to do this. It's too simple of a thing not to be able to do. I got behind on my dsl bill and my account got suspended. When I paid my bill, they said my account had been deactivated and I had to get a new account. When I tried to register my account with my old email address it would not let me, saying it was in use. I used a new email. The old email address is tied to a dsl account that can NEVER be reactivated. There has got to be a way to retire the old email address so that I can re-create it as a subaccount on my new dsl account. I'm not interested in anything that was in the old account (emails, addresses, etc) - I just want the address back.

• Failure to obtain IP with ARP over Wi-Fi with personal Wi-Fi router in client mode

  I'm trying to connect a Samsung TV to the Internet using a TL-MR3020 personal wireless router in client mode. The TV fails to connect to the network. It sees the ethernet cable connected though. Here's my network topology: Here's what I've captured with Wireshark filtering for ARP (eth.type == 0x0806): It appears the TV fails to get the IP of the gateway (DSL modem/router) for some reason. One thing I've noticed is that the source MAC for the ARP requests coming from the TV is the MAC of the Portable wireless router (that is cd:89:00), not the TV itself and the modem sends the responses to that MAC (I'm not an expert and don't know if its okay or it may make the TV fail to get the requested IP). Also I'm able to ping the TV from the DSL router (through the telnet interface) and the router has an entry in its MAC table for the TV's IP with the Portable wireless router's MAC (that is cd:89:00). If I'm able to ping the TV I suppose it should know the router's MAC to respond to the ping, but then why these continuous ARP requests... I've also tried to connect my desktop trough this Portable wireless router the same way I'm trying to connect the TV and it works fine, I can set the DSL Modem's IP as the default gateway on the desktop's NIC and connect to the Internet. The TV can connect to the Internet when connected to the DSL Router with a wired connection. Any suggestions on what may be the cause of the problem / how to further debug it are welcome. Thanks!

  Hi all, My query is related to broadband network deployment. I have a DSL modem connection provided by my operator. Now the DSL modem has a built-in NAT and DHCP server, hence it allocates IP addresses to any client devices (laptops, PC, mobile) that connect to it. However, the DSL modem also gets a public IP address X that is provisioned by the operator. My question is Whether this IP address X provisioned by operator is an IP address that is directly on the public Internet? Is it likely (practical scenario) that my broadband operator will put in one more NAT+DHCP server and provide IP addresses to all the modems within his broadband network. In this case, the IP addresses allotted to the modem devices will not be directly on the public Internet. Thanks in advance.

• Isn't ethernet used for LAN?

  I'm not really knowledgeable about networking stuff, hence the stupid question. I read that ethernet was used for LAN connections but I'm pretty sure what I'm currently using to connect to the internet is 'ethernet'. The only knowledge that I have about networking is that there are two types of internet connections: Dial-up and broadband. And broadband can be either DSL or cable. So where does ethernet come from? The only thing I can tell is that I have a DSL model and there is an ethernet port at the back of it, a cable from which runs to a port in the back of my CPU. So, can ethernet be used to connect to the internet? Is it a subtype of DSL? I'm really confused about this, so I would really appreciate if someone could explain this to me. Also, I will apologize if this isn't the right place to ask.
