    I am having problems creating a trust relationship between an OpenVMS/IA64 node running V/IA64 8.3-1H1, TCPIP 5.6 ECO 5, CIFS 1.1 ECO1 PS11 (SAMBA 3.0.28a) and Windows 2003 server running as a PDC. I do have two other OpenVMS/Alpha nodes running V/A 8.3, TCPIP 5.6 ECO 4, CIS 1.1 ECO1 PS10 (SAMBA 3.0.28a) with working trust relationships to the same Windows 2003 server.     I am on my home network and connect to workplace via a VPN. I have a DC on my home network (DC1 , domain = home). How can I setup a 1 way trust, so that I am able to run executables, such as SQL Management Studio using RunAs - then type in credentials for work domain? First question is, will a 1 way trust solve this, and can I set this up without bothering a network admin at workplace (assuming I have a domain account with enough permissions on work domain) If yes - any good step by step guide to setup 1 way trust?   • What do I need to do to make a WPF Browser Application (XBAP) that requires Full Trust work on Windo

    So this is a Visual Studio 2008, .NET, WPF, XBAP, Windows 7 question, regarding .NET trust policies. At work, we have several Web Browser Applications (.XBAP files) developed with Visual Studio 2008 (so .NET 3.5) that we deployed internally. These required a .NET FullTrust policy, we found a way to make a .MSI that adjusted the policy on individual stations, everything worked great. Users love in-browser apps. This was last year and on Windows XP. This year our company started upgrading users to Windows 7, and now none of our Web Browser Applications work. The error message is "Trust Not Granted", as if the policy-changing .MSI had not been run. Other details: I can confirm that our apps work on Windows XP for Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox, and do not work on Windows 7 for Internet Explorer 8 nor Firefox. I must admit that .NET security policies mystify me. Still, I could not find any mention of this problem on the Net at large or on this site. Did anybody else encounter this problem? Any and all help welcome.

  • Full screen: launchbar + panel overlaps when showing a dialog box

    I'm developing a program for 12.04 that will run on full-screen, so I would like to have full control of what appears on the screen. However, when I show another window (possibly a dialog/message box), the Uunity Panel and Launcher appears on the top and left side of the screen. I've experienced this behavior with other applications (Firefox, Gnubg) as well when in full-screen mode. I tried to play with the settings, now my dialog box is hidden from the the taskbar, set to float on it's parent, which is my full screen window. The problem still exists. Is there a way to prevent these panels from showing up, when the new window isn't shown in taskbar, or it's parent is a full-screen window? Or do I need to completely disable them?

    An awful lot of referrals to e-commerce sites come from web searches. Retailers rely on search engine optimization (SEO) to correctly position their website so they can be found. Search on "blue jeans" and the results are determined by a semi-secret algorithm -- in my case Levi.com, Banana Republic, and ShopStyle show up. The NY Times recently uncovered a situation where JCPenney, via third-parties hired to help with SEO, was caught manipulating search results so they were erroneously higher in page rankings. No doubt this helped drive additional sales during this part Christmas. The article, The Dirty Little Secrets of Search, is well worth reading. My friend Ron Kleinman started an interesting discussion at the ARTS Linkedin forum. He posed the question: The ability of a single company to "punish" any retailer (by significantly impacting their on-line sales volume) who does not play by their rules ... is this a good thing or a bad thing? Clearly JCP was in the wrong and needed to be punished, but should that decision lie with Google alone? Don't get me wrong -- I'm certainly not advocating we create a Department of Search where bureaucrats think of ways to spend money, but Google wields an awful lot of power in this situation, and it makes me feel uncomfortable. Now Google is incorporating more social aspects into their search results. For example, when Google knows its me (i.e. I'm logged in when using Google) search results will be influenced by my Twitter network. In an effort to increase relevance, the blogs and re-tweeted articles from my network will be higher in the search results than they otherwise would be. So in the case of product searches, things discussed in my network will rise to the top. Continuing my blue jean example, if someone in my network had been discussing Macy's perhaps they would now be higher in the result set. soapbox: I already have lots of spammers posting bogus comments to this blog in an effort to create additional links to their sites and thus increase their search ranking. Should I expect a similar situation in Twitter and eventually Facebook? Now retailers need to expand their SEO efforts to incorporate social media as well, but do us all a favor and please don't cheat.

  • Alt+Tab doesn't work when Citrix is in full screen

    I am using 12.04 and in my work we connect to a Citrix XenDesktop. I've installed Citrix Receiver, using this link and it all works perfectly. But, I have a problem. Alt+Tab doesn't work in full screen mode. There are several adjustments you can choose when login in, with the Settings "button" up in the right corner. (Sorry, I couldn't post an image because I'm new.) I like to work with 95% full screen, with the windows key combination in "full screen mode only". This allows me to use the windows combinations when a work in full screen, inside the remote computer (inside Citrix). I can Alt+Tab past the "Citrix computer" when I put it down to 95%. It also allows me to use the "Ubuntu menu" on the left side. But I really can't make this work in Ubuntu. I've tried to put the windows key combination to "remote server only" and yes, it works inside the server, but also only there and the Ubuntu menu stops working. (in example print Screen. I am using this for documentation.) When I try to Tab from one place to another, even when Citrix isn't in full mode, if I stop there and the continue "tabbing" it continues inside Citrix. I want to use windows key combination, but only in full screen mode. Does anyone have a solution to fix in another way?

  • Can I make a folder writeable in Medium trust?

    My web app writes to several folders (logs, uploads, etc), and I've always set these permissions manually through my hosting provider. I'd like to create a setup script that performs this on new installations. Is this possible under Medium trust? I can't even call File.GetAccessControl, let alone File.SetAccessControl, but I don't need such a "big hammer", anyway. I just want to do what the ISP (in this case GoDaddy) is letting me do through a management console. I believe PHP is able to do this, and I'd be willing to consider a PHP page for this purpose if that's possible.

    Hello all, I have been doing a bit of research on full-text searches as we realized a series of LIKE statements are terrible. My first find was MySQL full-text searches. I tried to implement this and it worked on one table, failed when I was trying to join multiple tables, and so I consulted stackoverflow's articles (look at the end for a list of the ones I've been to) I didn't see anything that clearly answered my questions. I'm trying to get this done literally in an hour or two (quick solution) but I also want to do a better long term solution. Here is my query: SELECT a.`product_id`, a.`name`, a.`slug`, a.`description`, b.`list_price`, b.`price`, c.`image`, c.`swatch`, e.`name` AS industry FROM `products` AS a LEFT JOIN `website_products` AS b ON (a.`product_id` = b.`product_id`) LEFT JOIN ( SELECT `product_id`, `image`, `swatch` FROM `product_images` WHERE `sequence` = 0) AS c ON (a.`product_id` = c.`product_id`) LEFT JOIN `brands` AS d ON (a.`brand_id` = d.`brand_id`) INNER JOIN `industries` AS e ON (a.`industry_id` = e.`industry_id`) WHERE b.`website_id` = 96 AND b.`status` = 1 AND b.`active` = 1 AND MATCH( a.`name`, a.`sku`, a.`description`, d.`name` ) AGAINST ( 'ashley sofa' ) GROUP BY a.`product_id` ORDER BY b.`sequence` LIMIT 0, 9 The error I get is: Incorrect arguments to MATCH If I remove d.name from the MATCH statement it works. I have a full-text index on that column. I saw one of the articles say to use an OR MATCH for this table, but won't that lose the effectiveness of being able to rank them together or match them properly? Other places said to use UNIONs but I don't know how to do that properly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. In the idea of a long term solution it seems that either Sphinx or Lucene is best. Now by no means and I a MySQL guru, and I heard that Lucene is a bit more complicated to setup, any recommendations or directions would be great.     My goal is to generate a PDF for display in a web page, either as aspx or with a generic handler. (This will link from a Silverlight page, but this is irrelevant to the problem.) The problem is that LocalReport (Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms; Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms.dll) requires full trust, and our hosting server does not allow full trust. I am aware that ReportViewer has a remote mode that will allow it to run with partial trust, but for that I need a report server url which should probably have full trust as well, which does not solve anything. So how do I generate PDFs from WebForms in a partially trusted environment?

  • Does NInject work in medium trust hosting?

    I'm doing shared hosting with GoDaddy and I developed a sample ASP.NET MVC app using Castle Windsor and unfortunately, it didn't work in a medium trust setting. Specifically, I got this error: "[SecurityException: That assembly does not allow partially trusted callers"... etc. GoDaddy is sadly not flexible in their trust policy. I'm not tied to Windsor and would like to try another one that will work under Medium Trust. I'd actually like to use NInject, but I've read people having mixed success. The only one I've read that works with no problem is Microsoft's Unity. My question is, does NInject work in medium trust? If not, what are my options?

    Newly I was working on portlet which should be able to do full text search through the UCM documents and I was experimenting with the Ridc and also with the CIS API's. There are some ticks you may take care of, for example using quotes is a very spacial case and most of situations UCM will throw an exception if you not use them well. To be able to proceed with the full text search you have to use dDocFullText attribute inside the search query. The tag <substring> is the same as 'like'. Also you have to put your searching string or words in quotes which could be a problem sometime, so I used the tag <qsch>. Using this tag you can have quotes now inside you searching string without to break the code and get parsing exceptions.To be able to test the example, you do have to enable full text search inside UCM. To do this follow the steps for example from this blog here and then re-index the documents in UCM.There is also one very nice article about how to define UCM queries if want to replace the full text search with something more specific, you can read this article from Kyle's Blog here.

I came across a number of options like Lucene, Zend Lucene, Solr etc but at the same time I also find out many people suggesting Sphider for small/medium side websites. I looked at shipder website a lot but unable to find out how to use it as a Full Text Search Engine.If anybody worked on it could help me to figure out whether it supports full text search or not. Edit: Please don't suggest any other alternatives for full text search.

  • full screen flash problems

    when i play flash videos from sites such as youtube, the videos initially play ok. However when the videos are full screened, a number of problems arise. Usually when the full screen button is first clicked, the video will take up the full screen, but will be frozen (however the video audio can still be heard). It can take several attempts to get the video to play in full screen. The video is also frozen if something triggers osd-notify (changing the volume, getting a new email etc.). Any ideas what might be going wrong?

  • Skype chat opens full screen and I can't get off it

    Skype was working perfect and then all of a sudden the chat box was full screen sized. Once you click on the Skype icon from the side bar it takes you straight to the full sized chat windows (By full sized I mean the side bar, top bar, and the programs close buttons disappear) I have uninstalled Skype and installed again but the issue is still occurring. I looked about but couldn't find an answer, thanks for any help!

  • VMware Player and Ubuntu 12.04 - Full Screen

    I have installed VMware Player 4.0.2 under Ubuntu 12.04 (Final) and, apart from having to patch the modules, everything went smoothly. However, there's an irritating behavior when toggling full screen mode: toggling full screen (using Virtual Machine Toggle Full Screen or Ctrl + Alt + Return), minimizing the player and maximizing it again changes the resolution of the guest to some strange one and the player gets "nested" between GNOME3's taskbar as every other of Ubuntu's native windows. To switch to full screen again I have to Ctrl + Alt + Return twice. Can anyone please tell me if this is the nromal, expected behavior? Is there any way of "correcting" it? The host operating system is Ubuntu 12.04 (Final) and the guest is Windows 7 (both 64 bits).
