  • Making a new instantiated prefab as a child for existing GameObject

    I've been searched about how to make these fruit to move as the basket movement if it collided with it, and I've been found that if I want to perform this I've to let these fruit to be a child to the basket game object .. for example : banana.transform.parent = basket.transform; banana and basket each of them of type "GameObject" ... BUT unfortunately this way didn't work !! and I don't know why ?? So now I need to know if it is possible to destroy the banana if a collision with the basket happened and instantiate a new banana in the basket as a child at run time ?!! I need to try this stupid way because I've tried all the other ways and nothing worked :(

  • Faking Display tree (Sprite) parent child relationships with rasters (BitmapData) in ActionScript 3

    I am working with Rasters (bitmapData) and blliting (copypixels) in a 2d-game in actionscript 3. I like how you can move a sprite and it moves all it's children, and you can simultaneously move the children creating an interesting visual effect. I do not want to use rotation or scaling however cause I do not know how that can be done without hampering with performance. So I'm not simulating Sprite parent-child behavior and sticking to the movement on the (x, y) axis. What I am planning to do is create a class called RasterContainer which extends bitmapData that has a vector of children of type Raster(extending bitmapData), now I am planning to implement recursive rendering in RasterContainer, that basically copyPixels every child, only changing their (x, y) offset to reflect their parent's offset. My question is, has this been implemented in an existing framework? Is this a good plan? Do I expect a serious performance hit for using recursive methods this way?

  • Last selected program or item not listed on Unity Dash

    I think something is broken in my Ubuntu configuration because whenever I'm run a program or search a file on Dash, the last entry usually always added to left most item on Dash, but now it's not, I just realized this after couple of hour, my Dash look the same. How to set it back to default behavior? Because it's pretty annoying and time consuming if you have to type everything over and over when the default is just press Enter to open last item. I'm on Raring.

  • Make the Taskbar Buttons Switch to the Last Active Window in Windows 7

    The new Windows 7 taskbar’s Aero Peek feature, with the live thumbnails of every window, is awesome… but sometimes you just want to be able to click the taskbar button and have the last open window show up instead. Here’s a quick hack to make it work better. To better understand the problem, imagine having nine windows of the same type open on your screen, but you are primarily working in just one of the windows at a time. So every time you want to switch back, you have to click the taskbar button, and then choose the one you are using from the list, which can be pretty annoying… Now if you know your Windows 7 shortcuts, you’d know that you can simply hold down the Ctrl key while clicking on the taskbar button, and the last window will show up. In fact, you can keep holding down the Ctrl key and keep clicking, and Windows will cycle through the open windows. It’s a useful shortcut, but hardly something you want to do every single time. Instead, we’ll use a quick registry hack to make the normal click switch to the last open window—if you still want to see the thumbnail list, just hover your mouse over the button for half a second to see the full list. Manual Registry Hack for Last Active Window Open up regedit.exe through the start menu search or run box, and then head down to the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced Once you’re there, create a new 32-bit DWORD value on the right hand side, give it the name LastActiveClick, and set the value to 1. Once you are done, it should look something like this: Once you are done, you’ll have to log off and back on, or you can kill Explorer.exe through Task Manager and re-open it. Download the Registry Hack Instead Since you probably don’t feel like registry hacking, we’ve provided you an easy downloadable version.   • Grep only shows last match

    I've got a problem with grep. When I use it as followed, it only shows the last match in every line and what follows after it. For example: If I use tail -F example.log | grep -a -i -e "word1" -e "word2" -e "word3" and example.log contains word1 this word2 is word3 a test only "word3 a test" will be displayed. How can I display the whole line and not only the last matched string in a line + rest of the line? I hope you can understand what I mean and help me :) Greetings, Bannix

    Got a weird issue with g:checkbox not being saved when its switched from on to off for a child in one-to-many relationship. For example: class Parent { Boolean enabled static hasMany = [children: Child] static constraints = { enabled(blank: true, nullable: true) } } class Child { Boolean enabled static belongsTo = [parent: Parent] static constraints = { enabled(blank: true, nullable: true) } } Posting to Parent controller true/false values will work for Parent: <g:checkBox name="enabled" value="${parentInstance?.enabled}"/> However, not for Child! When posting to Parent controller I can only go from false to true, trying to change from true to false again will not work: <g:each in="${parentInstance.children}" status="i" var="child"> <g:checkBox name="child[${i}].enabled" value="${child?.enabled}" /> </g:each> That seems to be a bug.   • Parent/Child forms communication issue

    Hi, I am very new to Visual C++ programming, but I have to write simple program which needs to do two things: ( I am using MS Visual C++ ) main ( parent ) form should be displayed when program starts, and after clicking a button on it, second form should be shown. Second form ( child ) also has a button, but this one should ( after clicking, of course ) show current X,Y child form position but on ( important ): parent form. And this is where i got stuck. I can display child form with: a) adding #include "child.h" in parent form.h b) adding child ^child_form; in public: section and afterwards using: child_form = gcnew child(); child_form-Show(); I was googling for two days now and cannot find a way to get it the other way: click on a button on child_form and display it's coordinates on parent form on label-text :/ when i tried to add #include "child.h" in child_form I just got error saying: "there are to many include files..." I really need to get this done and I would really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks in advance :)

  • Apache - child process exited with status 255

    I am running Windows 7 64-bit with an older version of (Apache 2.0.59) and PHP 5.2 - just switched from XP and wanted to keep the same versions. Everything will initially be working fine, but then I'll be trying to load a page and Apache crashes. I'll get an error in the browser that says "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading." Then Apache stops running. Sometimes it can be restarted, but then crashes again on the next page load. Sometimes it can't even be restarted at all. Looking in the Apache error logs, I see a series of messages that goes something like: [notice] Apache/2.0.59 (Win32) PHP/5.2.13 configured -- resuming normal operations [notice] Server built: Jul 27 2006 15:55:03 [notice] Parent: Created child process 1220 [notice] Child 1220: Child process is running [notice] Child 1220: Acquired the start mutex. [notice] Child 1220: Starting 250 worker threads. [notice] Parent: child process exited with status 255 -- Restarting. I have just come from Win XP where I never had any problems - is this an issue with my Apache version on Win7? Or perhaps it's a configuration issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated, I've done days of research and found nothing helpful. Thanks, Brian

  • Active Directory Child Domain Replication Problems

    Hi, I've recently inherited an Active Directory (all DCs Windows 2003) which has been configured with several child domains that are used as test environments for out CRM software. Two of these child domains have been used for testing using dates in the future (2015), throwing them well outside of the Kerberos tolerance for time, and they're flooding my event logs with replication errors such as the following: Description: The attempt to establish a replication link for the following writable directory partition failed. Directory partition: CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=ad,DC=xxxxxxx,DC=com Source domain controller: CN=NTDS Settings,CN=TESTDC001,CN=Servers,CN=SiteName,CN=Sites,CN=Configuration,DC=ad,DC=xxxxxxx,DC=com Source domain controller address: 38e95b2a-35af-4174-84ba-9ab039528cce._msdcs.ad.xxxxxxx.com Intersite transport (if any): This domain controller will be unable to replicate with the source domain controller until this problem is corrected. User Action Verify if the source domain controller is accessible or network connectivity is available. Additional Data Error value: 5 Access is denied. I'd also like to upgrade to Windows 2008 at some point, but wouldn't want to attempt any schema updates while I'm not 100% confident on the replication. I'm guessing my only real solution will be to get rid of these child domains. The child domains are operating as stand alone domains, the DC is up and running and authenticating test users fine. I'm guessing the best solution to this would be to delete the domains (although I'd be happily told otherwise). The clock forwarding appears to have been happening for several years, so I'm assuming I can't just put the clock right (I'm guessing scope for this would be 180days, the same as the tombstone lifetime) With the replication errors would I be able to dcpromo the child domains DC, select it as the last domain controller in the domain and the child domain would be deleted? Or would I be better off treating the domain as an orphaned domain and use Microsoft's instructions to clear up as such. Any advice would be much appreciated.

  • Domain Controller DNS Best Practice/Practical Considerations for Domain Controllers in Child Domains

    I'm setting up several child domains in an existing Active Directory forest and I'm looking for some conventional wisdom/best practice guidance for configuring both DNS client settings on the child domain controllers and for the DNS zone replication scope. Assuming a single domain controller in each domain and assuming that each DC is also the DNS server for the domain (for simplicity's sake) should the child domain controller point to itself for DNS only or should it point to some combination (primary VS. secondary) of itself and the DNS server in the parent or root domain? If a parentchildgrandchild domain hierarchy exists (with a contiguous DNS namespace) how should DNS be configured on the grandchild DC? Regarding the DNS zone replication scope, if storing each domain's DNS zone on all DNS servers in the domain then I'm assuming a DNS delegation from the parent to the child needs to exist and that a forwarder from the child to the parent needs to exist. With a parentchildgrandchild domain hierarchy then does each child forward to the direct parent for the direct parent's zone or to the root zone? Does the delegation occur at the direct parent zone or from the root zone? If storing all DNS zones on all DNS servers in the forest does it make the above questions regarding the replication scope moot? Does the replication scope have some bearing on the DNS client settings on each DC?

    With gdm3, I was able to remove the last connected users from the list by removing the file '/var/log/ConsoleKit/history' With lightdm, the last users appears even when : removing /var/log/ConsoleKit/history removing /var/lib/lightdm/.cache/unity-greeter/state Where does lightdm store this list ? Edit: It seems like it's using the content from the last command. Then purging the content of the file /var/log/wtmp is sufficient to remove any previously connected user from the list : # > /var/log/wtmp But, after doing this, I have the unwanted side effect that users loging in via lightdm doesn't appears at all in this list. I must say that I'm in a enterprise network environment using NIS. Edit2: Well, it seems that lightdm uses wtmp to display recent network users list, but does not update it.   • Is it possible to get last modified date from an assets file?

    Hi, all Bizarre question: is it possible to get the last modified date of a file in the assets folder, or would that be pointless and impossible? I ask because I'm copying a read-only database out of there into the data folder on application start up, but would rather only perform the copy if the existing file is older than the one stored in the assets folder (or if the file doesn't exist). If that's not possible, anyone know of a better convention? I can post that in a separate question if needed. TIA!

    Imagine the following use case: I use an AJAX request for getting some info about Item and use this URL: http://domain/items/show/1 In my database all items have a field called modified_at where we store the moment when this item was previously modified. How can Last-Modified server HTTP header in response can minimize load/reduce requests/increase responsiveness if we need to process this request every time on the server side? It looks like we don't reduce the number of HTTP requests with that response and we don't reduce the load on server. Who needs this anyway?

  • Ubuntu 12.04 LTS: Error message "Failed to execute child process"

    I am an Ubuntu-newbie and just started working with Ubuntu (version 12.04 LTS) a couple of days ago. I wanted to add a launcher icon to desktop for launching an application I previously installed. Up to now I can only launch it by typing setsid matlab -desktop into my terminal. Now there is the following problem with the execution via the desktop icon: Whenever I click the desktop icon, I get the following error message: "Failed to execute child process" I would like to add a screenshot, but unfortunately as a new user, I am not allowed to... In the main menu from where I added the icon via drag'n'drop to desktop there is also a permission to execute the .desktop file. I also tried to look for advice on the error message "Failed to execute child process..." but could not find anything useful. Now does anybody have an idea what I am missing? Sorry if this is a stupid question ;) ...but as I just said: I just started with Ubuntu... Thanks to everybody in advance for their help! :) And let me know if you should need any more information...   • Creating Parent-Child Relationships in SSRS

    As I have been working on SQL Server Reporting Services reports the last couple of weeks I ran into a scenario where I needed to present a parent-child data layout.  It is rare that I have seen a report that was a simple tabular or matrix format and this report continued that trend.  I found that the processes for developing complex SSRS reports aren’t as commonly described as I would have thought.  Below I will layout the process that I went through to create a solution. I started with a List control which will contain the layout of the master (parent) information.  This allows for a main repeating report part.  The dataset for this report should include the data elements needed to be passed to the subreport as parameters.  As you can see the layout is simply text boxes that are bound to the dataset. The next step is to set a row group on the List row.  When the dialog appears select the field that you wish to group your report by.  A good example in this case would be the employee name or ID. Create a second report which becomes the subreport.  The example below has a matrix control.  Create the report as you would any parameter driven document by parameterizing the dataset. Add the subreport to the main report inside the row of the List control.  This can be accomplished by either dragging the report from the solution explorer or inserting a Subreport control and then setting the report name property. The last step is to set the parameters on the subreport.  In this case the subreport has EmpId and ReportYear as parameters.  While some of the documentation on this states that the dialog will automatically detect the child parameters, but this has not been my experience.  You must make sure that the names match exactly.  Tie the name of the parameter to either a field in the dataset or a parameter of the parent report. del.icio.us Tags: SQL Server Reporting Services,SSRS,SQL Server,Subreports

For me, giving the implementation access to parent's information is some how disconcerting. On the other hand, initializing a new list, just to collect the items is a useless overhead ... What is the better design? How would it change, if DoSomethingWithStuff wouldn't be part of BaseItem but a third class? PS: there might be missing semicolons, or typos; sorry for that! The above code is not meant to be executed, but just for illustration.
