  • Is this common practice for disk quotas on virtual dedicated servers?

    Hello, I was a bit surprised when I purchased a VPS with 15GB of storage to find that am left with very little space after Windows' 13GB footprint. I can't even install SQL Server. Tech support is saying this is normal. I know that if they felt like it they could remove Windows from the quota or adjust it accordingly. Is this a common practice or should I further pursue the issue with customer service?

  • SMTP IP - Bad reputation, how do I work around?

    I recently had a spamming incident and got listed on a blacklist. I have rectified the issue, removed from the blacklist, but my IP reputation is now classified as a high volume sender. What is the best way to rectify this? I have an additional IP address. I am thinking configure my server to make outbound SMTP connections using the other IP. My questions are: How long does it take for my reputation to stabilize again? How do I configure my server/mailserver to use a specified outbound IP? Setup: Server 2008 Web hMailserver 2 IPs configured on one NIC Cloud based server Your urgent help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

  • USB Flash drive corrupt files - Help needed

    I have a 16gb usb flash drive with 8gb worth of data that I can't afford to lose. When I inserted it into my pc, inside the folder that I was storing the data I saw unintelligible characters and nothing in there would open. I ran, windows scandisk and the files (unfortunately) disappeared. I can see that the drive's space still appears to be taken up with data, about 8gb. What should I do to recover it? Is it possible?   • Secure copy in Linux

    Hi all, I wanna simpy exchange 3 directories to a collegue's home directory (I dont have write access to that one) from my home directory, probably using secure copy if possible. I am not good with Linux command line, so I am not sure how to do that and I would very much appreciate it if somebody could help me a bit out with this. I guess it should look something like that scp -r /home/user1/directoy1 /home/user2/directoy1 scp -r /home/user1/directoy2 /home/user2/directoy2 scp -r /home/user1/directoy3 /home/user2/directoy3 Do I need to specify the login name of my collegue so that the files can be copied when he enters his password?   • How to make OS X send LOCAL IP address in www request headers?

    I need to be able to send the local IP address of a computer along with the headers when making requests to a website. Similar to the way you can get the _SERVER["REMOTE_ADDR"] in php, but the local ip (e.g. 192.168.100.1) This will be an intranet so the environment can be controlled. Anything can be installed on the computer, etc. This will be on a Mac OS X computer. Hoping for both Safari AND Firefox. But would be open to using one one. Does anyone know if this is possible?     I'm querying a webserver for RequestsTotal and RequestsPerSec: Select * from Win32_PerfRawData_ASPNET_ASPNETApplications The server is a Windows Server 2008 R2 with IIS 7.5 and I'm querying it from my Windows 7 workstation using a C# program. My problem is that both RequestsPerSec and RequestsTotal show the same value. Running perfmon on that server and selecting the counters there shows the correct values.

  • Virtual hosting in Varnish with individual vcl files for configuration

    I wish to use varnish to put in front of an apache and a tomcat on the same server. Depending on the ip requested, it goes to a different backend. This works. Now for most of the sites the default varnish logic will work just fine. However for some specific sites I wish to use custom VCL code. I can test for host name and include config files for the specific domains, but this only works inside the individual methods recv etc. Is there a way to include a complete set of instructions, in one file, per domain, without having to manage separate files for subdomain_recv, subdomain_fetch etc? And preferably without running seperate instances of varnish. When I try to include a file on the "root level" of default.vcl, I get a compilation error. Best regards, Michael

  • VNC unattended Server (No user Interaction)

    I worked on a proof on concept a while ago.... whereby I managed to get VNC going in full "unattended" mode... I.e. The VNC Server dials into the viewer... which is running in Listening mode. The same concept of how single click works, but without the user interaction. I cant seem to locate my source files for this concept I worked on... although I have found my shortcut that worked on the Viewer side to listen. "C:\Program Files\UltraVNC\vncviewer.exe" -listen 5007 /noauto /256colors I can not however remember/locate my demo of what the server is doing.... how to configure it. If I remember correctly, the server was also started with command line params that "dialed" into a remote IP/port, that the viewer is listening on. Any ideas? Thanks

However, when I right-click on a file, and select Send to Mail recipient I get a message box saying:There is no email program associated to perform the requested action. Please install an email program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel. Is there a way to get this action working with Mail?

    I noticed that for encoding CD rips, Zune is still using WMA 9.2 instead of WMA 10 Pro. On a given file using the highest quality VBR settings looks like this: VBR Quality 98, 44 kHz, stereo 1-pass VBR On the same file if I use WMA 10 Pro, with the same settings, the resulting file is about 20% smaller. Using my ears, I'm unable to tell the difference, but I'm wondering if this was the goal of WMA 10 Pro (to be as good as WMA at a lower bitrate). Is the quality of a WMA 10 Pro file equal to that of a WMA 9.2 file encoded with the same settings?

  • Routing with VPN and asymmetric communication

    I'm stumbling on a problem that requires your advice. Keywords : networking, route, openVPN Problem : I have a local network with several physical servers and VMs. These machines have ip's in the range 10.10.x.x. I can access these machines from the Internet with the help of openVPN. These machines can : access each other within the local 10.10.x.x subnet access the Internet via the VPN can themselves be accessed (via SSH) from the Internet via the VPN. There is one machine however that behaves strangely and I don't know why. I can SSH into this machine from anywhere via SSH and I can also PING it from anywhere (including the Internet). However from this machine (i.e. when logged into it) I cannot access the Internet or ping machines outside the local network. In other words it will not go beyond the VPN. My question is why?   • Does the .NET Framework need to be reoptimized after upgrading to a new CPU microarchitecture?

    I believe that the .NET Framework will optimize certain binaries targeting features specific to the machine it's installed on. After changing the CPU from an Intel Nehalem to a Haswell chip, should the optimization be run again manually? If so, what is the process for that? Between generations here are some notable additions: Westmere: AES instruction set Sandy Bridge: Advanced Vector Extensions Ivy Bridge: RdRand (hardware random number generator), F16C (16-bit Floating-point conversion instructions) Haswell: Haswell New Instructions (includes Advanced Vector Extensions 2 (AVX2), gather, BMI1, BMI2, ABM and FMA3 support) So my, albeit naive, thought process was that the optimizations could take advantage of these in general cases. For example, perhaps calls to the Random library could utilize the hardware-RNG on Ivy Bridge and later models.

    First post here. I have a asp/vb6 web app that logs in a user I want to encrypt the users identity field and pass(querystring) it to a asp.net app and then decrypt it to do a db lookup. I tried adding the following to my .gitignore * !bin/* This does not have the desired effect, however: I created a new file inside of bin/, but doing 'git status' still "shows nothing to commit (working directory clean)" Any suggestions?
