  • Requiring SSH-key Login Via PAM From Specific IP Ranges

    I need to be able to access my server (Ubuntu 8.04 LTS) from remote sites, but I'd like to worry a bit less about password complexity. Thus, I'd like to require that SSH keys be used for login instead of name/password. However, I still have a lot to learn about security, and having already badly broken a test box when I was trying to set this up, I'm acutely aware of the chance of screwing myself while trying to accomplish this. So I have a second goal: I'd like to require that certain IP ranges (e.g. 10.0.0.0/8) may log in with name/password, but everyone else must use an SSH key to log in. How can I satisfy both of these goals? There already exists a very similar question here, but I can't quite figure out how to get to what I want from that information. Current tactic: reading through the PAM documentation (pam_access looks promising) and looking at /etc/ssh/sshd_config.

  • Excel scatter chart with multiple date ranges

    I have multiple blocks of time series data on an Excel sheet, with each block having its own set of dates. For example, I might have dates in column A, values in column B, and then dates in column D and values in column E. The values in B go with the dates in A, and the values in E go with the dates in D. The dates in A and D may not be the same. I would like to create a scatter chart with a time category axis that is the union of my two input date ranges in columns A and D. If I select all the data and then go insert chart (in Excel 2010), Excel treats only column A as the X axis, and looks at D as just another set of values. I can get Excel to do what I want by first just charting columns A and B, then selecting D and E and copy-pasting onto the chart. However, I would like to avoid this two-step procedure if possible.

I would like to make a pivot table out of this spreadsheet where I divide the "Time Elapsed" column into ranges, e.g., how many tasks took 0 to 4 days to complete how many tasks took 5 to 9 days how many took 10 to 14 days how many took 15+ days Do I have to create new columns in my spreadsheet dedicated to each interval (0 to 4, 5 to 9, etc.) or can I use some feature of pivot tables to separate my one "Time Elapsed" column into intervals?     i have a dedicated server, with "Virtuozzo" on it running VPS's. I have: eth0 - which is configured to the internal network, that one is fine. Now I have: eth1 - which has two ranges routed through this device. x.x.134.x (which has 12 IP's sequentially) x.x.132.x (which has 5) eth1: DEVICE="eth1" HWADDR="00:25:90:37:65:67" NM_CONTROLLED="yes" ONBOOT="yes" IPADDR="x.x.134.x" NETMASK="255.255.255.240" GATEWAY="x.x.134.x" I tried using this with another file as well named "ifcfg-eth1:1" in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ any ideas why the containers on eth1:1 would not link up to the network? Virtuozzo also thinks that eth1:1 is the primary network now, which isn't right?

    I have a particular problem with subversion. Environment: subversion (1.6.12dfsg-6), apache2 (2.2.16-6+squeeze7) + mod dav_svn. I can't create a directory named "mysql" or "testmysql" or add and commit a file named "mysql.txt" in my repository. There are many references to "subversion PROPSET 403 forbidden" problems in google and so on. But I can use all functions of subversion. I can also create a directory named "hugo" or "test". My repository works properly. Only "mysql" doesn't work.   • Cent OS ifcfg configuration for ranges of IP's with different netmask

    I have 1 set of 30 public IP's with a netmask of 255.255.255.0 and another set of 30 IP's with a netmask of 255.255.255.128. Both sets of IP's also have different gateways. How can I virtually assign the IP's to the machine? I have tried creating ifcfg-eth0:0 ifcfg-eth0:1 ifcfg-eth0:X ect for each IP. Below is my ifcfg file with. I have this for each IP with the correct gateway IP and netmask for each of my 60 IP's. If I do ip addr show it does show all of the 60 addresses with the correct broadcast IP and netmask. However I can only use 30 of my IP's that are from the same netmask. Am I doing this correctly? If the IP's show up with ip addr show does that mean I have correctly assigned them to the machine virtually? I want to check before I blame my hosting company for not routing the IP's correctly. Solution that's currently working: # Globally deny logon via password, only allow SSH-key login. PasswordAuthentication no # But allow connections from the LAN to use passwords. Match Address 192.168.*.* PasswordAuthentication yes The Match Address block can also usefully be a Match User block, answering my secondary question. For now I'm just chalking the failure to parse CIDR addresses up to a quirk of my install, and resolving to try again when I go to Ubuntu 10.04 not too long from now. PAM turns out not to be necessary.

    I wonder how stuff like this works in windows (xp and other that have telnet): Start-> Run -> cmd -> telnet <xyz.com> http Start-> Run -> cmd -> telnet <xyz.com> pop3 Start-> Run -> cmd -> telnet <xyz.com> smtp Are these "named" ports? Only windows knows that it has to substitute port numbers coz these are standard ports? Is there way I could create such a named port on windows?   • Cannot connect to a 2008 sql server named instance hosted in a azure virtual machine

    When I try to connect to a named instance in a SQL SERVER hosted in a azure VM I get this message: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: -1) The problem is the sql browser is not working properly, when I start the sql browser service it closes after a few seconds and the event log says "There are no instances of SQL Server or SQL Server Analysis Services." But I do have a named instance, I can connect locally to this instance. I've re-installed sql browser and the instance but ii does not work. The host is a azure virtual machine windows server 2008 datacenter. Please help. Thank you

    How do I reference an Excel Table column dynamically in Excel 2007? ie: i wanna reference a named column of a named table and what table it is will vary with the value of a cell. I have a Table in Excel (Let's call it Table1). I want to reference one of its columns (Let's call it column1) dynamically from a value in another cell (A1) so that I can achieve the following result: When I change A1, the formula that counts Table1[DynamicallyReferencedColumnName] gets updated to the new reference. I tried using =Count(Table1[INDIRECT("$A$1")]) but Excel says the formula contains an error. Example: A1 = names then the formula would equal Count(Table1[names]). A1 = lastname then the formula would equal Count(Table1[lastname]).

  • Can only connect to sql server express 2012 via named pipes

    I have sql server express 2012 installed on windows 2008, locally everything works just fine i can connect via tcpip and named pipes. Remotely i can connect with ssms only using named pipes. I have tried disabling the firewall on both sides to eliminate blocking traffic. i have toggled the tcpip setting on and off (i read somewhere that they got it working just but flipping them off and back on). I have double/triple checked all the settings that i'm aware of and everything seems to be correct. Tcp is enabled Tcp port is set to 1433, udp port is set to 1434 Server has static ip Start up log says: Server is listening on [ 'any' 1433]. Firewall rules are in place Any suggestions on things that i can look into? i have really just run out of ideas.

    I have some data coming from a custom dataset that look like the following example Person Age P1 20 P2 21 P3 30 P4 31 P5 40 And I want to develop a pie showing the age distribution against the age. The point is that I want this Age to be shown in ranges. (20-29, 30-39, etc for example So we have: Slice with total number =2 (P1 + P2) as age is 20-29 (one at 20 and another at 21) Slice with total number =3 (P3 + P4) as age is 30-39 (one at 30 and another at 31) Slice with total number =1 (P5) as age is 40 (one at 40). How can i customize the pie chart to aggregate values by ranges that I can define?

  • Excel 2007: Named ranges problems when linking workbooks

    I've 30+ workbooks each with 5 specific worksheets (formated the same). Each worksheet's data needs to be linked to a master workbook, so that I end up with 5 master workbooks and all the specific data in one long table format $A$2:$I$750. (Are you still with me? ;)) I don't have access to a database, so I'm having to link the sheets to their master workbook directly. I've highlighted the data I need; named the range; and then tried referencing this from my master workbook. I get the #Value error symbol when I try to link (=[WorkbookName]!MyNamedRange) to a cell that doesn't match the top left cell of my range. Example: MyNamedrange is always =$A$2:$I43$ on one specific sheet. On my master workbook it works if it's referenced at A2 but I get #Value if it's referenced A1, or A44. Any ideas? I'm trying to link my data in one continous table so I can run a pivot on it, and other things. Can it be done like this, or should I just copy and paste? I'm trying to keep things 'linked'so I do not need to spend time C&Ping all day. Many thanks Mike.

  • Alerting for incorrect cell values

    My problem: I have two ranges R16 and R01. These ranges were set up by swiping each range and then renaming them in the upper left panel of the sheet. Each range requires users to fill in each cell with a value. R16 requires users to enter a number of 0 through 5. The range R01 requires a value of 0 or 1 to be entered. NO cell can be left blank in any cell within these two ranges. These ranges and requirements are specific to this sheet only. It would be nice if at the time of user entering a number, an error message appeared like [invalid entry] if the value inputted was outside parameters set. For example, in R16, if someone entered 12 or -1 they would be alerted. Finally when the user presses a button on the page to use these values in a separate process, it is essential to check that no cell is left blank. I am trying to find a way to halt the running of the marco (via the button) if these parameters above are not met. Thank you

  • Iterate set covered by cross-product of ranges in ruby

    I figured this answer had been asked before, so I searched, but I couldn't find anything. Granted, there are a ton of Ruby Array questions, so it might be there, just buried. In any case, I'm trying to reduce a cross-product of ranges, returning a sum of all elements of the cross-product that meet some set of conditions. To construct a trivial example, if I have an array like this: [0..1,0..1,0..1] I'd like to iterate over this set: [ [0,0,0], [0,0,1], [0,1,0], [0,1,1], [1,0,0], [1,0,1], [1,1,0], [1,1,1] ] and return a sum based the condition "return 1 if i[0] == 1 and i[2] == 0" (which would give 2). In my contrived example, I could do it like this: br = 0..1 br.reduce(0){|sumx, x| sumx + br.reduce(0){|sumy, y| sumy + br.reduce(0){|sumz, z| sumz + (x == 1 and z == 0 ? 1 : 0) } } } , but in the actual application, the set of ranges might be much larger, and nesting reduces that way would get quite ugly. Is there a better way?
