  • Django: Get bound IP address inside settings.py

    - by Silver Light
Hello! I want to enable debug (DEBUG = True) For my Django project only if it runs on localhost. How can I get user IP address inside settings.py? I would like something like this to work: #Debugging only on localhost if user_ip = '127.0.0.1': DEBUG = True else: DEBUG = False How do I put user IP address in user_ip variable inside settings.py file?

  • ImportError using nose, no ImportError using raw unittest ?

    - by southof40
I get an ImportError when running my unittests using Nose and I don't when I just run it standalone. All files referred to here may be seen at http://gist.github.com/395541# . If I run the test script, importTest-Test.py, directly I get this output: C:\usr\x\data\src\Python\mmm>python importTest-Test.py In mmdb In BusinessLogic [] . ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ran 1 test in 0.001s If I allow Nose to run it I get an error : C:\usr\x\data\src\Python\mmm>nosetests.exe E ====================================================================== ERROR: Failure: ImportError (No module named mmdb.DataAccess.AttemptDB) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Traceback (most recent call last): File "c:\bin\installed\python2.6\lib\site-packages\nose-0.11.3-py2.6.egg\nose\loader.py", line 382, in loadTestsFromName addr.filename, addr.module) File "c:\bin\installed\python2.6\lib\site-packages\nose-0.11.3-py2.6.egg\nose\importer.py", line 39, in importFromPath return self.importFromDir(dir_path, fqname) File "c:\bin\installed\python2.6\lib\site-packages\nose-0.11.3-py2.6.egg\nose\importer.py", line 86, in importFromDir mod = load_module(part_fqname, fh, filename, desc) File "C:\usr\x\data\src\Python\mmm\importtest-Test.py", line 2, in <module> import importtest File "C:\usr\x\data\src\Python\mmm\importtest.py", line 1, in <module> from mmdb.BusinessLogic.AttemptManager import AttemptManager File "C:\usr\x\data\src\Python\mmm\mmdb\BusinessLogic\AttemptManager.py", line 1, in <module> from mmdb.DataAccess.AttemptDB import AttemptDB ImportError: No module named mmdb.DataAccess.AttemptDB ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ran 1 test in 0.002s FAILED (errors=1) The files involved in the package which nose is having difficulties with are in the following structure - some may be seen here http://gist.github.com/395541# .: mmm\importtest-Test.py mmm\importtest.py mmm\mmdb mmm\__init__.py mmm\mmdb\BusinessLogic mmm\mmdb\BusinessObject mmm\mmdb\DataAccess mmm\mmdb\__init__.py mmm\mmdb\BusinessLogic\AttemptManager.py mmm\mmdb\BusinessLogic\Collections mmm\mmdb\BusinessLogic\__init__.py mmm\mmdb\BusinessLogic\Collections\__init__.py mmm\mmdb\BusinessObject\__init__.py mmm\mmdb\DataAccess\AttemptDB.py mmm\mmdb\DataAccess\__init__.py This is happening on Win32 / Python 2.6 / Nose 0.11.3 . • Django: Using 2 different AdminSite instances with different models registered

    - by omat
Apart from the usual admin, I want to create a limited admin for non-staff users. This admin site will have different registered ModelAdmins. I created a folder /useradmin/ in my project directory and similar to contrib/admin/_init_.py I added an autodiscover() which will register models defined in useradmin.py modules instead of admin.py: # useradmin/__init__.py def autodiscover(): # Same as admin.autodiscover() but registers useradmin.py modules ... for app in settings.INSTALLED_APPS: mod = import_module(app) try: before_import_registry = copy.copy(site._registry) import_module('%s.useradmin' % app) except: site._registry = before_import_registry if module_has_submodule(mod, 'useradmin'): raise I also cretated sites.py under useradmin/ to override AdminSite similar to contrib/admin/sites: # useradmin/sites.py class UserAdminSite(AdminSite): def has_permission(self, request): # Don't care if the user is staff return request.user.is_active def login(self, request): # Do the login stuff but don't care if the user is staff if request.user.is_authenticated(): ... else: ... site = UserAdminSite(name='useradmin') In the project's URLs: # urls.py from django.contrib import admin import useradmin admin.autodiscover() useradmin.autodiscover() urlpatterns = patterns('', (r'^admin/', include(admin.site.urls)), (r'^useradmin/', include(useradmin.site.urls)), ) And I try to register different models in admin.py and useradmin.py modules under app directories: # products/useradmin.py import useradmin class ProductAdmin(useradmin.ModelAdmin): pass useradmin.site.register(Product, ProductAdmin) But when registering models in useradmin.py like useradmin.site.register(Product, ProductAdmin), I get 'module' object has no attribute 'ModelAdmin' exception. Though when I try this via shell; import useradmin from useradmin import ModelAdmin does not raise any exception. Any ideas what might be wrong? Edit: I tried going the @Luke way and arranged the code as follows as minimal as possible: (file paths are relative to the project root) # admin.py from django.contrib.admin import autodiscover from django.contrib.admin.sites import AdminSite user_site = AdminSite(name='useradmin') # urls.py (does not even have url patterns; just calls autodiscover()) import admin admin.autodiscover() # products/admin.py import admin from products.models import Product admin.user_site.register(Product) As a result I get an AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'user_site' when admin.user_site.register(Product) in products/admin.py is called. Any ideas? Solution: I don't know if there are better ways but, renaming the admin.py in the project root to useradmin.py and updating the imports accordingly resolved the last case, which was a naming and import conflict.

  • "import numpy" tries to load my own package

    - by Sebastian
I have a python (2.7) project containing my own packages util and operator (and so forth). I read about relative imports, but perhaps I didn't understand. I have the following directory structure: top-dir/ util/__init__.py (empty) util/ua.py util/ub.py operator/__init__.py ... test/test1.py The test1.py file contains #!/usr/bin/env python2 from __future__ import absolute_import # removing this line dosn't change anything. It's default functionality in python2.7 I guess import numpy as np It's fine when I execute test1.py inside the test/ folder. But when I move to the top-dir/ the import numpy wants to include my own util package: Traceback (most recent call last): File "tests/laplace_2d_square.py", line 4, in <module> import numpy as np File "/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/numpy/__init__.py", line 137, in <module> import add_newdocs File "/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/numpy/add_newdocs.py", line 9, in <module> from numpy.lib import add_newdoc File "/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/numpy/lib/__init__.py", line 4, in <module> from type_check import * File "/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/numpy/lib/type_check.py", line 8, in <module> import numpy.core.numeric as _nx File "/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/numpy/core/__init__.py", line 45, in <module> from numpy.testing import Tester File "/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/numpy/testing/__init__.py", line 8, in <module> from unittest import TestCase File "/usr/lib/python2.7/unittest/__init__.py", line 58, in <module> from .result import TestResult File "/usr/lib/python2.7/unittest/result.py", line 9, in <module> from . import util File "/usr/lib/python2.7/unittest/util.py", line 2, in <module> from collections import namedtuple, OrderedDict File "/usr/lib/python2.7/collections.py", line 9, in <module> from operator import itemgetter as _itemgetter, eq as _eq ImportError: cannot import name itemgetter The troublesome line is either from . import util or perhaps from operator import itemgetter as _itemgetter, eq as _eq What can I do?

  • Activate a python virtual environment using activate_this.py in a fabfile on Windows

    - by Rudy Lattae
I have a Fabric task that needs to access the settings of my Django project. On Windows, I'm unable to install Fabric into the project's virtualenv (issues with Paramiko + pycrypto deps). However, I am able to install Fabric in my system-wide site-packages, no problem. I have installed Django into the project's virtualenv and I am able to use all the " python manage.py" commands easily when I activate the virtualenv with the "VIRTUALENV\Scripts\activate.bat" script. I have a fabric tasks file (fabfile.py) in my project that provides tasks for setup, test, deploy, etc. Some of the tasks in my fabfile need to access the settings of my django project through "from django.conf import settings". Since the only usable Fabric install I have is in my system-wide site-packages, I need to activate the virtualenv within my fabfile so django becomes available. To do this, I use the "activate_this" module of the project's virtualenv in order to have access to the project settings and such. Using "print sys.path" before and after I execute activate_this.py, I can tell the python path changes to point to the virtualenv for the project. However, I still cannot import django.conf.settings. I have been able to successfully do this on *nix (Ubuntu and CentOS) and in Cygwin. Do you use this setup/workflow on Windows? If so Can you help me figure out why this wont work on Windows or provide any tips and tricks to get around this issue? Thanks and Cheers. • Where is my python script spending time? Is there "missing time" in my cprofile / pstats trace?

    - by fmark
    I am attempting to profile a long running python script. The script does some spatial analysis on raster GIS data set using the gdal module. The script currently uses three files, the main script which loops over the raster pixels called find_pixel_pairs.py, a simple cache in lrucache.py and some misc classes in utils.py. I have profiled the code on a moderate sized dataset. pstats returns: p.sort_stats('cumulative').print_stats(20) Thu May 6 19:16:50 2010 phes.profile 355483738 function calls in 11644.421 CPU seconds Ordered by: cumulative time List reduced from 86 to 20 due to restriction <20> ncalls tottime percall cumtime percall filename:lineno(function) 1 0.008 0.008 11644.421 11644.421 <string>:1(<module>) 1 11064.926 11064.926 11644.413 11644.413 find_pixel_pairs.py:49(phes) 340135349 544.143 0.000 572.481 0.000 utils.py:173(extent_iterator) 8831020 18.492 0.000 18.492 0.000 {range} 231922 3.414 0.000 8.128 0.000 utils.py:152(get_block_in_bands) 142739 1.303 0.000 4.173 0.000 utils.py:97(search_extent_rect) 745181 1.936 0.000 2.500 0.000 find_pixel_pairs.py:40(is_no_data) 285478 1.801 0.000 2.271 0.000 utils.py:98(intify) 231922 1.198 0.000 2.013 0.000 utils.py:116(block_to_pixel_extent) 695766 1.990 0.000 1.990 0.000 lrucache.py:42(get) 1213166 1.265 0.000 1.265 0.000 {min} 1031737 1.034 0.000 1.034 0.000 {isinstance} 142740 0.563 0.000 0.909 0.000 utils.py:122(find_block_extent) 463844 0.611 0.000 0.611 0.000 utils.py:112(block_to_pixel_coord) 745274 0.565 0.000 0.565 0.000 {method 'append' of 'list' objects} 285478 0.346 0.000 0.346 0.000 {max} 285480 0.346 0.000 0.346 0.000 utils.py:109(pixel_coord_to_block_coord) 324 0.002 0.000 0.188 0.001 utils.py:27(__init__) 324 0.016 0.000 0.186 0.001 gdal.py:848(ReadAsArray) 1 0.000 0.000 0.160 0.160 utils.py:50(__init__) The top two calls contain the main loop - the entire analyis. • Declare models elsewhere than in "models.py"

    - by sebpiq
Hi ! I have an application that splits models into different files. Actually the folder looks like : >myapp __init__.py models.py >hooks ... ... myapp don't care about what's in the hooks, folder, except that there are models, and that they have to be declared somehow. So, I put this in myapp.__init__.py : from django.conf import settings for hook in settings.HOOKS : try : __import__(hook) except ImportError as e : print "Got import err !", e #where HOOKS = ("myapp.hooks.a_super_hook1", ...) The problem is that it doesn't work when I run syncdb(and throws some strange "Got import err !"... strange considering that it's related to another module of my program that I don't even import anywhere :/ ) ! So I tried successively : 1) for hook in settings.HOOKS : try : exec ("from %s import *" % hook) doesn't work either : syncdb doesn't install the models in hooks 2) from myapp.hooks.a_super_hook1 import * This works 3) exec("from myapp.hooks.a_super_hook1 import *") This works to So I checked that in the test 1), the statement executed is the same than in tests 2) and 3), and it is exactly the same ... Any idea ???

  • cython setup.py gives .o instead of .dll

    - by alok1974
Hi, I am a newbie to cython, so pardon me if I am missing something obvious here. I am trying to build c extensions to be used in python for enhanced performance. I have fc.py module with a bunch of function and trying to generate a .dll through cython using dsutils and running on win64: c:\python26\python c:\cythontest\setup.py build_ext --inplace I have the dsutils.cfg in C:\Python26\Lib\distutils. As required the disutils.cfg has the following config settings: [build] compiler = mingw32 My startup.py looks like this: from distutils.core import setup from distutils.extension import Extension from Cython.Distutils import build_ext ext_modules = [Extension('fc', [r'C:\cythonTest\fc.pyx'])] setup( name = 'FC Extensions', cmdclass = {'build_ext': build_ext}, ext_modules = ext_modules ) I have latest version mingw for target/host amdwin64 type builds. I have the latest version of cython for python26 for win64. Cython does give me an fc.c without errors, only a few warning for type conversions, which I will handle once I have it right. Further it produces fc.def an fc.o files Instead of giving a .dll. I get no errors. I find on threads that it will create the .so or .dll automatically as required, which is not happening.

  • Accessing Python module fails although its package is imported

    - by codethief
Hey Stackers! :) My Django project's directory hierarchy looks like this: + pybsd |---+ devices |---+ templates |---+ views |---+ interaction |---- __init__.py |---- geraete.py |---- geraetemodelle.py |---- geraetegruppen.py |---- __init__.py |---- ajax.py |---- html.py |---- misc.py |---- __init__.py |---- urls.py |---- __init__.py |---- urls.py (Please excuse the German names. I preferred not to replace them here since it would add yet another possible error source when trying out the solutions you'll hopefully suggest and answering your questions.) Every request to http://URL/devices/.* is dispatched to the urls.py file living in /devices: # ... from views import html, ajax, misc, interaction urlpatterns = patterns('', # ... (r'^ajax/update/(?P<table>[a-z_]+)$', ajax.update), (r'^ajax/delete/(?P<table>[a-z_]+)$', ajax.delete), (r'^ajax/select_options/(?P<table>[a-z_]+)$', ajax.select_options), (r'^interaction/geraete/info/(?P<geraet>\d+)$', interaction.geraete.info), (r'^interaction/geraete/delete/(?P<geraet>\d+)?$', interaction.geraete.delete), (r'^interaction/geraetemodelle/delete/(?P<geraetemodell>\d+)?$', interaction.geraetemodelle.delete), (r'^interaction/geraetegruppen/delete/(?P<geraetegruppe>\d+)?$', interaction.geraetegruppen.delete), # ... ) All URL definitions work except for those referencing the interaction package. I'm constantly getting the following error: File "/home/simon/projekte/pybsd/../pybsd/devices/urls.py", line 33, in `<module>` (r'^interaction/geraete/info/(?P<geraet>\d+)$', interaction.geraete.info), AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'geraete' I double-checked that the __init__.py files don't contain anything. Maybe you've already found the (Python- or Django-related?) mistake I made and am apparently unable to see. If not, read on. In any case, thanks for reading this long post! Isolating the problem 1st test It works if I provide the view functions as strings: (r'^interaction/geraete/info/(?P<geraet>\d+)$', 'devices.views.interaction.geraete.info'), (r'^interaction/geraete/delete/(?P<geraet>\d+)?$', 'devices.views.interaction.geraete.delete'), (r'^interaction/geraetemodelle/delete/(?P<geraetemodell>\d+)?$', 'devices.views.interaction.geraetemodelle.delete'), (r'^interaction/geraetegruppen/delete/(?P<geraetegruppe>\d+)?$', 'devices.views.interaction.geraetegruppen.delete'), ... or add yet another line to the imports: from views.interaction import geraete, geraetemodelle, geraetegruppen Using from views.interaction import *, however, doesn't work either and results in the same error message. 2nd test I created a file test.py in /devices: from views import interaction print dir(interaction) Output: simon@bsd-simon:~/projekte/pybsd/devices$ python test.py ['__builtins__', '__doc__', '__file__', '__name__', '__package__', '__path__'] Again, no sign of the modules I created in the interaction package (geraete.py, geraetemodelle.py, geraetegruppen.py). Unlike in urls.py, trying from view.interaction import geraete, geraetegruppen, geraetemodelle in test.py results in ImportError: No module named view.interaction this time. 3rd test I started the Django shell: $ python manage.py shell >>> import devices.views.interaction.geraete >>> dir(devices.views.interaction.geraete) ['Abteilung', 'Auftrag', 'Auftragsvorlage', 'Geraet', 'Geraetegruppe', 'Geraetemodell', 'HttpResponse', 'HttpResponseBadRequest', 'HttpResponseRedirect', 'Raum', 'Standort', '__builtins__', '__doc__', '__file__', '__name__', '__package__', 'delete', 'info', 'models', 'move', 'render_to_response'] >>> $ python manage.py shell >>> from devices.views.interaction import geraete >>> dir(geraete) ['Abteilung', 'Auftrag', 'Auftragsvorlage', 'Geraet', 'Geraetegruppe', 'Geraetemodell', 'HttpResponse', 'HttpResponseBadRequest', 'HttpResponseRedirect', 'Raum', 'Standort', '__builtins__', '__doc__', '__file__', '__name__', '__package__', 'delete', 'info', 'models', 'move', 'render_to_response'] >>> $ python manage.py shell >>> import devices.views.interaction >>> devices.views.interaction.geraete Traceback (most recent call last): File "<console>", line 1, in <module> AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'geraete' >>> dir(devices.views.interaction) ['__builtins__', '__doc__', '__file__', '__name__', '__package__', '__path__']

  • Automatically create an admin user when running Django's ./manage.py syncdb

    - by a paid nerd
My project is in early development. I frequently delete the database and run manage.py syncdb to set up my app from scratch. Unfortunately, this always pops up: You just installed Django's auth system, which means you don't have any superusers defined. Would you like to create one now? (yes/no): Then you have supply a username, valid email adress and password. This is tedious. I'm getting tired of typing test\[email protected]\ntest\ntest\n. How can I automatically skip this step and create a user programatically when running manage.py syncdb ?

  • Break nested loop in Django views.py with a function

    - by knuckfubuck
I have a nested loop that I would like to break out of. After searching this site it seems the best practice is to put the nested loop into a function and use return to break out of it. Is it acceptable to have functions inside the views.py file that are not a view? What is the best practice for the location of this function? Here's the example code from inside my views.py @login_required def save_bookmark(request): if request.method == 'POST': form = BookmarkSaveForm(request.POST) if form.is_valid(): bookmark_list = Bookmark.objects.all() for bookmark in bookmark_list: for link in bookmark.link_set.all(): if link.url == form.cleaned_data['url']: # Do something. break else: # Do something else. else: form = BookmarkSaveForm() return render_to_response('save_bookmark_form.html', {'form': form})

  • how can I make pip/setuptools understand that my package is in ./src?

    - by Giacomo Lacava
I have a library with a layout like this in Github: README setup.py src/ somelibrary.py Note: I cannot change the layout, but I can change setup.py. I want to be able to reference this library from requirements.txt, so that people can do pip install -r requirements.txt and have it installed automagically. So I add a line like this into requirements: -e git+http://blablabla/blabla#egg=somelibrary This will clone the repository under ./src/somelibrary and then run setup.py develop on it, which will just add a link to ./src/somelibrary under site-packages. Unfortunately, because the library is actually under ./src/somelibrary/src, it seems like python can't see the library correctly. What am I missing? I guess it must be a setup.py option I'm not using correctly.

  • 'int' object is not callable

    - by Oscar Reyes
    I'm trying to define a simply Fraction class And I'm getting this error: python fraction.py Traceback (most recent call last): File "fraction.py", line 20, in <module> f.numerator(2) TypeError: 'int' object is not callable The code follows: class Fraction(object): def __init__( self, n=0, d=0 ): self.numerator = n self.denominator = d def get_numerator(self): return self.numerator def get_denominator(self): return self.denominator def numerator(self, n): self.numerator = n def denominator( self, d ): self.denominator = d def prints( self ): print "%d/%d" %(self.numerator, self.denominator) if __name__ == "__main__": f = Fraction() f.numerator(2) f.denominator(5) f.prints() I thought it was because I had numerator(self) and numerator(self, n) but now I know Python doesn't have method overloading ( function overloading ) so I renamed to get_numerator but that's not the problems. What could it be?

  • Django-admin.py not being recognized suddenly

    - by Jen Camara
I tried starting a new Django project yesterday but when I did "django-admin.py startproject projectname" I got an error stating: "django-admin.py is not recognized as an internal or external command." The strange thing is, when I first installed Django, I made a few projects and everything worked fine. But now after going back a few months later it has suddenly stopped working. I've tried looking around for an answer and all I could find is that this typically has to do with the system path settings, however, I know that I have the proper paths set up so I don't understand what's happening. Does anybody have any idea what's going on?

  • Including non-Python files with setup.py

    - by cool-RR
How do I make setup.py include a file that isn't part of the code? (Specifically, it's a license file, but it could be any other thing.) I want to be able to control the location of the file. In the original source folder, the file is in the root of the package. (i.e. on the same level as the topmost __init__.py.) I want it to stay exactly there when the package is installed, regardless of operating system. How do I do that?

  • How to make pytest display a custom string representation for fixture parameters?

    - by Björn Pollex
When using builtin types as fixture parameters, pytest prints out the value of the parameters in the test report. For example: @fixture(params=['hello', 'world'] def data(request): return request.param def test_something(data): pass Running this with py.test --verbose will print something like: test_example.py:7: test_something[hello] PASSED test_example.py:7: test_something[world] PASSED Note that the value of the parameter is printed in square brackets after the test name. Now, when using an object of a user-defined class as parameter, like so: class Param(object): def __init__(self, text): self.text = text @fixture(params=[Param('hello'), Param('world')] def data(request): return request.param def test_something(data): pass pytest will simply enumerate the number of values (p0, p1, etc.): test_example.py:7: test_something[p0] PASSED test_example.py:7: test_something[p1] PASSED This behavior does not change even when the user-defined class provides custom __str__ and __repr__ implementations. Is there any way to make pytest display something more useful than just p0 here? I am using pytest 2.5.2 on Python 2.7.6 on Windows 7.
