• Send and Receive SMS from my Website [on hold]

  The way I plan to use it is: Have people send SMS to a number to vote. On the backend (assuming that the data comes back to my Web server), I will display the voting results on my Web site. After say 10 minutes, I would like to press a button on my Web site so ONE of the people who sent an SMS earlier receive an SMS saying that person is a winner. I'm an ASP .Net developer, so I just need an API to code against. One such company I saw that does this (but is limited to US) is: http://www.twilio.com/sms/ Do you know any international providers that are similar to Twilio SMS? I'm based in Sydney, Australia. I've looked through the discussion here but could not find any International provider that does what Twilio SMS does: How to add SMS text messaging functionality to my website? Thank you.

• How to use MythBuntu to send TV signal to a 2nd frontend

  I guess the a MythTV or MythBuntu backend acts as a "server" for the frontends. I have MythBuntu installed. It runs fine, I can tune live TV, hear the sound, etc. To get this to work, I had to config the Wired Network IP4V settings to Method: Link-Local Only. The Local Backend IP address is: 127.0.0.1 and the info (bottom of screen) says that if there is another frontend, that this IP add. must be changed. 1 - Does this mean changed to the IP address of the 2nd frontend? 2 - What "Method" do I use to make 2 or more frontends? 3 - I have an ethernet switch which currently "sees" the tv signal, sends it to the computer's ethernet port where Mythbuntu makes use of it. 4 - How do I set up the Myth to send it's output (the tv shows) to both televisions? If you know of a How-To, or website, please give the URL or identifying keywords.

• Bukkit send a custom placed name plate?

  Hello i have been working on a part of my plugin that has waypoints allowing the user to create delete etc. I got to thinking after using and seeing a couple of the disguse plugins. That maybe i could create a command toggle that would show the user where the waypoints they have are! I know how to do all of this i just have no idea how to display a nameplate to the client. I know its possible because disguisecraft does it i tried looking though their code but couldent find much... I belive to get this effect i need to send packets to the client if someone can direct me to a list of bukkit packets or even a solution to sending the client a custom located nameplate that would be fantastic! • Safe way to send thousands of promotional emails

  My new partner has an email list with over 1 Million email addresses for targeted traffic (no spam... only genuine subscribers from his last startup ) But now I have a problem.. how can I sent an email to all those email addresses ? I can't use my ISP SMTP mailer, they will block me immediately for bulk mailing. I thought of a way to send emails slowly . Like dividing them in sets of few thousands and sending to each set daily . Will it be fine solution ?

• Feasible to send marketing emails as an image?

  Is it feasible to send marketing emails entirely as images - apart from a link at the top, giving the option for the recipient to view the email online (in their browser) and one at the footer to unsubscribe from our mailing list? Anyone who's coded a html email template before knows how much of a pain it is to end up with the final design that displays 'properly' (rarely does it display the same in all clients) and doesn't break. I understand there's the possibility of people simply ignoring the email altogether should their email clients be set not to automatically download images, but many of our email primarily feature images anyway. Thoughts?

However in the example above: Calling "dequeue" I will get the "lock/monitor" on this Now I am in the dequeue method. As the list is zero, the calling thread will be "waited" From my understanding I have now a deadlock situation, as I will have no chance of ever enquing an object (from an nother thread), as the "dequeue" method is not yet finised and the dequeue "method" holds the lock on this: So I will never ever get the possibility to call "enequeue" as I will not get the "this" lock. Backround: I have exactly the same problem: I have some kind of connection pool (List of Connections) and need to block if all connections are checked. • Using JMX classes to notify on events over time

  I've been looking at JMX for monitoring application and system metrics (partially because MBeans can accessed by various tools such as JConsole). It would seem like the classes included with JMX would be useful for things like notification when metrics have exceeded thresholds. But I'm not sure they fit with the way I want to measure these over a specified time period. For example, let's say I want to notify an admin when the average CPU load is over 95% for more than 5 minutes. Is that something can be done with a GaugeMonitor? From the docs, it doesn't seem quite suited for this, and I'm wondering if instead I should write my own MBean with the necessary logic. A more relevant example is when the login times for users exceed 10s over a period of 5 mins. Slightly different would be the last 20 logins took more than 10s on average. Another case would be when a process crashes 4+ times in an hour. Or the request queue exceeds 15 for 5 mins. Are the JMX Monitor classes useful for this kind of thing?

  what is the best way to keep a child control up to date for changes in the parent. I have a number of child controls hosted inside my parent object and I can think of two ways to send change information to them. 1) wire the child control to an event in the parent. and fire that event on a change in the parent 2) keep a list of the children in an array and intenerate through the array when the change has happened and invoke a method in the child to handle the new changes. I hope I describe it okay. both work but there is probably a right way to handle this and a wrong way.

• Configure Zabbix to send email notifications through Exim

  I've been working through the installation and configuration of Zabbix over the past couple of days and I think I've finally got everything working... except the sending of notifications / alerts. I'm running on a Ubuntu server which is using Exim to send emails. I'd previously used this Exim setup to send notifications for Nagios so I know that Exim itself works. However, I can't seem to get Zabbix to send out notifications. Here's what I've done so far: Set up a "test trigger" like so: Trigger severity >= "Information" Send message to User "Admin" The Admin user has a email contact (and I've sent command line emails from Exim on the server using "sendmail" to this email address successfully) The media type for email is set. (I've tried 127.0.0.1) I've checked the user permissions and it is read/write for all host groups The triggers are definitely getting set but no actions are being called... I think my problem is within Zabbix as it's not actually executing the actions And idea how to configure this correctly?

• Thunderbird "undo send" feature (like in Gmail)?

  I was wondering if there exists a thunderbird addon that gives similar functionality as Google's "undo send" feature? This basically just delays the sent message for a few seconds allowing the user to cancel the send if desired. I find this very useful in Gmail and would love the option now that I started using thunderbird. I've seen the send later addon, but this isn't really what I want. I want something very similar to Google's feature where it automatically delays each message before sending with an easy to access option to cancel the send. Thanks!

I know that it is impossible to send a auto reply within a distributed group, but following a guide I have created a mail account called “noreply”. In outlook I have created a rule in the “noreply” account where I chose following conditions: Send to a person or distributed list (where I selected my distributed group) Then to specify what to do with that message I selected Have server reply using a specific message I’ve created my message and saved it.   I am trying to run growl notify over ssh like so ssh [email protected] "growlnotify -m test" is run I get bash: growlnotify command not found however running it straight from the mac it runs fine am I missing something simple or is there a really complex reason this won't work? ps. ssh keys are enabled in both directions edit: I logged into the mac from a remote machine over ssh and tried to run it and it ran fine so it seems to just affect the one line login and run way and DrC tried that cated the .profile to .bashrc

  I'm using Google Apps to handle personal email addresses for my domain name, and I set up the DNS as Google suggests. All works fine. Now since I need a SMTP to send emails from my e-commerce I installed Postfix on the server. If I do a 'net send' to all computers on the domain while not VPN'd into the network, and it says it's successful, one of the following is true: It failed, but thinks it's successful, and it won't send anything.   i have setup an exchange 2010 account on microsoft outlook 2010 and i can read my emails, but i am not able to send emails, when i create a new email and click send, the messages are not sent, they don't even get to the outbox folder. my guess is that the issue is not from exchange itself, becuase i can send emails with this exchange account with java code using smtp port 25 please advise how to fix this issue.

• Suddenly can't send E-Mails with Apple Mail to Gmail SMTP

  Hi all, I have a weird problem that started just today. I am using Apple Mail on a Leopard machine, connecting to Gmail. Fetching e-mail works just fine. My SMTP settings are also correct. Still, I can't send mail, it will display a pop up saying that "transferring the content to the mail server" failed (translation from German, could be different in English OS X versions). I have verified the following: My SMTP settings are definitely correct. I have not changed them and the issue appeared today. Also, I went through the Apple online configuration for Gmail accounts and did not have to adjust any setting. I can run network diagnosis and it will connect to both POP and SMTP servers without a problem (all green lights) The Telnet details will show me the HELO message from the Gmail servers, so there's no authentication failure. Console.app will not show any messages related to "mail" when I try to send the mail, so there's no specific error message The mail I'm trying to send does not have an attachment, it is plaintext only I can login to gmail.com and send mails without a problem The recipient address exists and contains no syntax errors I can also not send mails to myself When using another IP and ISP (through VPN), it still doesn't work As for my settings: I connect to smtp.gmail.com and for advanced settings I choose password-based authentication with user: [email protected] and my password. I let Apple Mail try the default ports (for SSL and TLS, respectively). Again: I have not changed a thing between yesterday and today. What is causing that strange behavior? Any help would be much appreciated.

  Internet Explorer 9 in Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit has the items Send Page by email and Send link by email grayed out. The default email client is Windows Live Mail 2011. I have used the "Set Default" dialogs to do that. Everything else recognizes Windows Live Mail 2011 as the default, including Firefox 4. I have duplicated this problem on two computers here. I have changed the default email program to Mozilla Thunderbird on one of the computers, and IE9 won't let me Send Page by email or Send link by email there, either. Has anyone gotten this to work? Firefox is my default browser, but sometimes I have to use IE9.

• How should I safely send bulk mail? [closed]

  First of all, we have a large software system we've developed and have a number of clients using it in their own environment. Each of them is responsible for using their own equipment and resources, we don't provide any services to share with them. We have introduced an automated email system which sends emails automatically via SMTP. Usually, it only sends around 10-20 emails a day, but it's very possible to send bulk email up to thousands of people in a single day. This of course requires a big haul of work, which isn't necessarily the problem. The issue arises when it comes to the SMTP server we're using. An email server is issued a number of relays a day, which is paid for. This isn't really necessarily the issue either. The risk is getting the email server blacklisted. It's inevitable, and we need to carefully take all this into consideration. As far as I can see, the ideal setup would be to have at least 50 IP addresses on multiple servers, each of which hosts its own SMTP server. When sending bulk email, it will divide them up across these servers, and each one will process its own queue. If one of those IP's gets blacklisted, it will be decommissioned and a new IP will replace it. Is there a better way that doesn't require us to invest in a large handful of servers? Perhaps a third party service which is meant exactly for this?

• Steps to send patch to Launchpad

  With a Git/Github background and knowing very little about Bazaar VCS, I would like to occasionally report a bug to Launchpad and even send a patch. I'd like to do it in a "proper" way so that it's ready for merging or improvement while not getting in way. I can't seem to find a decent simple How-to suited for my needs. So what I did so far: I have created a Launchpad account, reported the bug, installed Bazaar and setup SSH keys etc. Now if it was Github, I'd fork the repo, clone the forked repo, create a sanely named branch and do the work, commit + push, create a pull request using Github WUI. But it's not Github, and both LP and Bazaar architectures seem quite different from their Github/Git cunterparts. So could a kind soul save me from drowning in tons of documents and complile a straightforward step path, mainly the second part? Possibly including relevant CLI commands when they are needed? Edit: It seems that I should clarify if I'm asking specifically about Ubuntu packages (whatever it means) or Launchpad packages. I don't really care much about distinction between Ubuntu packages and non-Ubuntu packages. Any software could be in Ubuntu today and out of it tomorrow, or vice-versa. The development is what matters much more than distribution. Ao I was assuming that not every single package distributed in Ubuntu is hosted on Launchpad, an "official" or "default" workflow for Launchpad exists (well if all devs can agree on using Bazaar, why couldn't most of them agree on a patching workflow?), so I'm asking about the Launchpad way, not the Ubuntu way. And I chose AU because since the intersection is vast, I guess it's pretty on topic here.
