  • Cannot run a JUnit test case containing threads from Eclipse

    - by Parag
    I am running JUnit test case from Eclipse 3.4.1 . This test case creates a class which starts a thread to do some stuff. When the test method ends it seems that Eclipse is forcibly shutting down the thread. If I run the same test from the command line, then the thread runs properly. Somehow I do not remember running into such problems with Eclipse before. Is this something that was always present in Eclipse or did they add it in 3.4.x ? Here is an example: When I run this test from Eclipse, I get a few printts of the cnt (till about 1800) and then the test case is terminated utomatically. However, if I run the main method, which starts JUnit's TestRunner, then the thread counts indefinetely. import junit.framework.TestCase; import junit.textui.TestRunner; /** * This class shows that Eclipses JUnit test case runner will forcibly * terminate all running threads * * @author pshah * */ public class ThreadTest extends TestCase { static Runnable run = new Runnable() { public void run() { int cnt = 0; while(true) System.out.println(cnt++); } }; public void testThread() { Thread t = new Thread(run); t.start(); } public static void main(String args[]) { TestRunner runner = new TestRunner(); runner.run(ThreadTest.class); } }

  • unix at command pass variable to shell script?

    - by Andrew
Hi, I'm trying to setup a simple timer that gets started from a Rails Application. This timer should wait out its duration and then start a shell script that will start up ./script/runner and complete the initial request. I need script/runner because I need access to ActiveRecord. Here's my test lines in Rails output = `at #{(Time.now + 60).strftime("%H:%M")} < #{Rails.root}/lib/parking_timer.sh STRING_VARIABLE` return render :text => output Then my parking_timer.sh looks like this #!/bin/sh ~/PATH_TO_APP/script/runner -e development ~/PATH_TO_APP/lib/ParkingTimer.rb $1 echo "All Done" Finally, ParkingTimer.rb reads the passed variable with ARGV.each do|a| puts "Argument: #{a}" end The problem is that the Unix command "at" doesn't seem to like variables and only wants to deal with filenames. I either get one of two errors depending on how I position "s If I put quotes around the right hand side like so ... "~/PATH_TO_APP/lib/parking_timer.sh STRING_VARIABLE" I get, -bash: ~/PATH_TO_APP/lib/parking_timer.sh STRING_VARIABLE: No such file or directory I I leave the quotes out, I get, at: garbled time This is all happening on a Mac OS 10.6 box running Rails 2.3 & Ruby 1.8.6 I've already messed around w/ BackgrounDrb, and decided its a total PITA. I need to be able to cancel the job at any time before it is due.

  • JSF/Facelets: set `action` attribute to a dynamically evaluated string

    - by harto
In my JSF/Facelets application, I want to dynamically generate a breadcrumb trail from a list of page IDs using a custom tag: <foo:breadcrumbs trail="foo,bar,baz"/> This should generate something like: <h:commandLink action="foo" ... /> <h:commandLink action="bar" ... /> <!-- (etc.) --> My code looks something like this: <ui:repeat value="#{fn:split(trail, ',')}" var="key"> <h:commandLink action="#{key}" ... /> </ui:repeat> The problem with this code is that #{key} is interpreted as a method binding. However, I just want the string value of #{key} to be returned as the navigation outcome. How can I achieve this? The only thing I could think of was creating a dummy managed-bean that has an outcome field and an action handler, and invoke it like so: <h:commandLink action="#{dummy.click}" ...> <f:setPropertyActionListener target="#{dummy.outcome}" value="#{key}" /> </h:commandLink> with the dummy class defined like so: public class Dummy { private String outcome; public String click() { return outcome; } public void setOutcome(String outcome) { this.outcome = outcome; } public void getOutcome() { return outcome; } } That seems ugly though, and I don't know if it would work.

  • C#: How to run NUnit from my code

    - by Flavio
Hello, I'd like to use NUnit to run unit tests in my plug-in, but it needs to be run in the context of my application. To solve this, I was trying to develop a plug-in that runs NUnit, which in turn will execute my tests in the application's context. I didn't find a specific documentation on this subject so I dug a piece of information here and there and I came out with the following piece of code (which is similar to one I found here in StackOverflow): SimpleTestRunner runner = new SimpleTestRunner(); TestPackage package = new TestPackage( "Test" ); string loc = Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().Location package.Assemblies.Add( loc ); if( runner.Load(package) ) { TestResult result = runner.Run( new NullListener() ); } The result variable says "has no TestFixture" although I know for sure it is there. In fact my test file contains two test. Using another approach I found, which is summarized by the following code: TestSuiteBuilder builder = new TestSuiteBuilder(); TestSuite testSuite = builder.Build( package ); // Run tests TestResult result = testSuite.Run( new NullListener(), NUnit.Core.TestFilter.Empty ); I saw nunit data structures with only 1 test and I had the same error. For sake of completeness, I am using the latest version of nunit, which is 2.5.5.10112. Does anyone know what I'm missing? A sample code would be appreciated. thanks

  • How exactly do MbUnit's [Parallelizable] and DegreeOfParallelism work?

    - by BenA
I thought I understood how MbUnit's parallel test execution worked, but the behaviour I'm seeing differs sufficiently much from my expectation that I suspect I'm missing something! I have a set of UI tests that I wish to run concurrently. All of the tests are in the same assembly, split across three different namespaces. All of the tests are completely independent of one another, so I'd like all of them to be eligible for parallel execution. To that end, I put the following in the AssemblyInfo.cs: [assembly: DegreeOfParallelism(8)] [assembly: Parallelizable(TestScope. All)] My understanding was that this combination of assembly attributes should cause all of the tests to be considered [Parallelizable], and that the test runner should use 8 threads during execution. My individual tests are marked with the [Test] attribute, and nothing else. None of them are data-driven. However, what I actually see is at most 5-6 threads being used, meaning that my test runs are taking longer than they should be. Am I missing something? Do I need to do anything else to ensure that all of my 8 threads are being used by the runner? N.B. The behaviour is the same irrespective of which runner I use. The GUI, command line and TD.Net runners all behave the same as described above, again leading me to think I've missed something. EDIT: As pointed out in the comments, I'm running v3.1 of MbUnit (update 2 build 397). The documentation suggests that the assembly level [parallelizable] attribute is available, but it does also seem to reference v3.2 of the framework despite that not yet being available. EDIT 2: To further clarify, the structure of my assembly is as follows: assembly - namespace - fixture - tests (each carrying only the [Test] attribute) - fixture - tests (each carrying only the [Test] attribute) - namespace - fixture - tests (each carrying only the [Test] attribute) - fixture - tests (each carrying only the [Test] attribute) - namespace - fixture - tests (each carrying only the [Test] attribute) - fixture - tests (each carrying only the [Test] attribute)

  • Heroku app throws "Internal Server Error"

    - by picardo
This app works just fine on my local computer. After pushing it to Heroku, static pages appear to be working but the blog section throws an Internal Server Error. I pulled the logs by running "heroku logs" and this is what I get: ==> production.log <== /usr/ruby1.8.7/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/eventmachine-0.12.10/lib/eventmachine.rb:256:in `run' /home/slugs/215194_e5b887e_c999/mnt/.bundle/gems/gems/thin-1.2.7/lib/thin/backends/base.rb:57:in `start' /home/slugs/215194_e5b887e_c999/mnt/.bundle/gems/gems/thin-1.2.7/lib/thin/server.rb:156:in `start' /home/slugs/215194_e5b887e_c999/mnt/.bundle/gems/gems/thin-1.2.7/lib/thin/controllers/controller.rb:80:in `start' /home/slugs/215194_e5b887e_c999/mnt/.bundle/gems/gems/thin-1.2.7/lib/thin/runner.rb:177:in `send' /home/slugs/215194_e5b887e_c999/mnt/.bundle/gems/gems/thin-1.2.7/lib/thin/runner.rb:177:in `run_command' /home/slugs/215194_e5b887e_c999/mnt/.bundle/gems/gems/thin-1.2.7/lib/thin/runner.rb:143:in `run!' /home/slugs/215194_e5b887e_c999/mnt/.bundle/gems/gems/thin-1.2.7/bin/thin:6 Something wrong with the eventmachine gem, I suppose....but it works fine on my machine. So I'm not sure what's going on or how to debug it.

  • Celery / Django Single Tasks being run multiple times

    - by felix001
I'm facing an issue where I'm placing a task into the queue and it is being run multiple times. From the celery logs I can see that the same worker is running the task ... I'm guessing it has something to do with the entry function: int main( int argc, char *argv[]),but why gcc works? How can I make it work with cmake? UPDATE Let me paste the source code here for convenience: #include <gtk/gtk.h> int main( int argc, char *argv[]) { GtkWidget *window; gtk_init(&argc, &argv); window = gtk_window_new(GTK_WINDOW_TOPLEVEL); gtk_widget_show(window); gtk_main(); return 0; } UPDATE2 Why gcc -mwindows works but add_executable(Cmd WIN32 cmd.c) not? Maybe that's not the equivalent for -mwindows in cmake?
