  • PostgreSQL 9.0 HA load balancing between servers

    Hey folks, I'm bashing my head to configure load balancing stuff between two database servers. I have no clue whether, I can find any mechanism to implement this. I already tried to implement Heart beat clustering but it requires virtual Ip wherein I can't create virtual IP or assign my own IP address in amazon EC2. Is there a way to configure PostgreSQL database servers in similar to Amazon load balancing kind of thing ? If so, please suggest the solution. Thanks in advance.

    I am a new user of Ubuntu. When I type df -h in terminal , it gives me list of all storage devices and space usage. In my system I get this. Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /cow 934M 173M 761M 19% / udev 925M 4.0K 925M 1% /dev tmpfs 374M 856K 373M 1% /run /dev/sdb1 7.5G 2.8G 4.8G 37% /cdrom /dev/loop0 1.5G 1.5G 0 100% /rofs tmpfs 934M 16K 934M 1% /tmp none 5.0M 0 5.0M 0% /run/lock none 934M 76K 934M 1% /run/shm /dev/sda 299G 74M 299G 1% /media/q I understand that /dev/sda is my hard drive which is 320 gb(in gib it is 299 and hopefully that is what is being displayed) and /dev/sdb1 is pendrive of 8gb from which I am running the live cd. My question is what are the other folders and what is the physical location of these folders if complete memory is taken by the device dev/sda?

  • Squid randomly stops serving requests. How can I resolve this issue?

    The squid (2.7) proxy that I have running on ubuntu 8.10 stops accepting new requests after being online for a while, due to reasons that I can't discover. However doing a squid -k reload resolves the problem immediately. Now I manually run this command by monitoring the log and if i don't see any activity for 5 minutes I reload the config. Now on my quest for a solution I had several ideas: diagnose the root cause and eliminate it setup a script to automatically reload script if no new entries in access.log for the past 3 minutes painstakingly upgrade server to newer ubuntu version while keeping network offline or during off hours to minimize downtime. so i thought I would turn to you for solutions to option 2), as I do not understand squid enough for 1), and I'm avoiding 3) as long as i can. so can ideas?

    In my web-application, I have various audio clips uploaded by the users in the database stored in the BLOB column. The audio files are low bit rate WAV files. The clips are secured, one can see only those clips he has uploaded. Instead of user downloading the clip and playing it in his player, I need it be steamed online in the web page itself. In the jsp I use the <audio> tag with the source mapping to the controller mappping url. <td> <audio controls><source src="recfile/${au.id}" type="audio/mpeg" /></audio> </td> Where, the recfile is the request mapping and the au.id is the audio id.     What I have? I have a ASP.NET page deployed in layouts folder of 12 hive in SharePoint. This page makes use of Accordion control in AjaxControlToolkit.dll V3.5.40412.2. I have placed the page code behind class assembly and AjaxControlToolkit.dll in Virtual Directory bin folder. What I want? I want to load this page when a link clicked from a web part for users of "Visitors" site group when the DLLs are placed in virtual directory bin folder. What problem am I facing? The page loads properly for administrator. But, for "Visitors", it shows "The website declined to show this webpage" error message. In these scenarios the page works fine for "Visitors": If I place both the assemblies in GAC If I give Everyone read permission to AjaxControlToolkit.dll (in bin) Am I missing something here?

I don't want to loop through all folders as the number of folders is more. So, I thought of running a CAML query to get the folder. Below CAML Query gives me all folders in the list: <Where> <Eq> <FieldRef Name='FSObjType' /> <Value Type='int'>0</Value> </Eq> </Where> How can I add another condition to the above query so that I can get a specific folder when I know the exact folder name?

    I am trying to invoke UIImagePickerController to select a movie on iPhone 3GS and when the movie is selected, i just dismiss it and present MyViewController modally with a configured delay of 1.0 seconds. What I notice is 10% of the times, presentModalViewController on MyViewController does nothing whereas it works 90% of the times. I want to understand why is this behavior and what is the remedy.   • Unlocking SVN working copy with unversioned resources

    I have a repository which contains some unversioned directories and files. The server running svn was recently changed and since the checkout was done using the url svn://OLD-IP, I relocated my svn working copy, this time to the url svn://NEW-DOMAIN-NAME. Now since there are some unversioned resources, the switch did not happen properly and the working copy got locked. A cleanup operation did not work either because of these unversioned resources. I looked up in the net and found about svn ignore and tried that but to no use. I am unable to release all locks. Any ideas on solving the problem? Once I release the locks, I believe I can use svn ignore and carry on the relocate operation.
