  • Recording slow web stream

    I'm trying to record an mpeg2 video stream from a website that doesn't have the greatest bandwidth. The video often buffers. I want to download the stream and watch it offline. The extract stream format received is: Stream #0.0[0x44]: Audio: mp2, 48000 Hz, stereo, s16, 192 kb/s Stream #0.1[0x45]: Video: mpeg2video (Main), yuv420p, 704x576 [PAR 16:11 DAR 16:9], 15000 kb/s, 27.19 fps, 25 tbr, 90k tbn, 50 tbc I use the following tool to transocde the stream: ffmpeg -i "http://url" -y -vcodec libx264 -b 3000k -acodec copy /tmp/stream.mp4 Unfortunately after a few seconds ffmpeg stops recording with an error [mpegts @ 0x1f0b9c0] PES packet size mismatch [mp2 @ 0x1f14640] incomplete frame Error while decoding stream #0.0 [mpeg2video @ 0x1f16860] ac-tex damaged at 0 26 [mpeg2video @ 0x1f16860] Warning MVs not available I've tried encoding with vlc as well with similar issues. Anyone know what's wrong or how to fix this?

My current solution is to just time the start/stop recording events on the User Interface (literally the time the user hits record, then hits stop recording.) Given a .aac audio file, is there some library call in Objective-C or Python to determine its length?

  • Is it possible to remove constant "beep" sound from recording?

    Whenever I record with my microphone, I get this constant beep sound on the background. It appears only when I turn volume up, so it is not very loud, but its noticable and pretty annoying. Because it is constant sound, I thought it should be possible to filter just that one frequency, but I have absolutely no idea how to do it.

  • Show which modifier keys are pressed during screen recording?

    I'd like to see which modifier keys I've pressed during screen recordings so my students can understand what keys I've pressed while I click and drag. Is there any software that can do this? I'm aware that Windows 7 does this internally, if there's a way to enable it. Windows 7 When you have a Wacom tablet connected to your PC, or if you have a Tablet PC, windows shows little yellow tip bubbles whenever you press modifier keys. Any way to enable these on a normal PC? Update: I've tried starting the Tablet PC Input Service but nothing happens. The Tablet PC Settings dialog has nothing interesting either. Is there a registry setting I can tweak?

    I have this situation: the drummer records the track (8 tracks in a multitrack session). Now, how do I check how distant are the recorded beats from their theoretical position i.e.: there is always some error in human recorded tracks, but is there any software that can show me the ideal (theoretical, quantized) beat and the recorded one and could alert me if the error is too big. P.S.: I'm searching for a standalone tool, or for a plugin that can work with Adobe Audition 3 or Nuendo 3.

  • Writing a program which uses voice recogniton... where should I start?

    Hello! I'm a design student currently dabbling with Arduino code (based on c/c++) and flash AS3. What I want to do is to be able to write a program with a voice control input. So, program prompts user to spell a word. The user spells out the word. The program recognizes if this is right, adds one to a score if it's correct, and corrects the user if it's wrong. So I'm seeing a big list of words, each with an audio file of the word being read out, with the voice recognition part checking to see if the reply matches the input. Ideally i'd like to be able to interface this with an Arduino microcontroller so that a physical output with a motor could be achieved in reaction also. Thing is i'm not sure if I can make this program in flash, in Processing (associated with arduino) or if I need another CS3 program-making-program. I guess I need to download a good voice recognizing program, but how can I interface this with anything else? Also, I'm on a mac. (not sure if this makes a difference) I apologize for my cluelessness, any hints would be great! -Susan

Small impact on the system, and relatively small size of recordings, as it is supposed to run all time pc is turned on. Some recording management as auto pruning of recordings older than x days. UPD This is not a problem if some scripting is necessary to achieve what is described in the question. So it could be a command line recording tool which could be used from batch, bash (cygwin, mingw) scripts.

  • MythTV lost recordings - "No recordings available" and no recording rules either

    I have a c.6 year old mythtv database. I recently upgraded from Ubuntu 10.04 to 12.04. This brought a MythTV upgrade from 0.24 to 0.25, which went well. Today, all my recordings have disappeared. They still exist in the /var/lib/mythtv/recordings folder, and the 'M' key in the Watch Recordings page says that there are 201 recordings available somewhere, but they will not display. See screenshot: (implicit thanks to whomever upvoted this, giving me sufficient reputation to upload images) Changing the filter does not remedy the fact that there is nothing shown in the lists.   • FFmpeg not recording audio during screen capture

    I'm using the script below to run FFmpeg on Ubuntu 10.10. I followed these instructions to install FFmpeg & x264. While ffmpeg does capture the screen it does not capture the mic audio. I've checked that the mic works via "System Preferences". Anyone have any ideas on what the problem(s) could be and suggestions on how to resolve this issue?     I have been asked by our marketing department to add Google Analytics custom variable tracking to my company's website. As the website uses server side includes, modifications to the tracking tag roll out globally - maintenance is therefore a headache! So, if I add the following code (keeping in mind SSI so every page has the same code): // visitor level tracking, id = 12345 // Record a unique id for each visitor. When they return also track this id _gaq.push(['_setCustomVar', 1, 'id', '12345', 1]); // page level tracking // If the user signs up for our newsletter we set newsletter to true // Each page they subsequently visit should also mark this as true _gaq.push(['_setCustomVar', 1, 'newsletter', 'true', 1]); I don't use GA and the marketing people don't use custom variables, so we don't actually know how or if this will work. Therefore my questions are:- Do I want Page, Session or Visitor level tracking? What happens when the same code is used on every page? Can GA 'overwrite' a setting. For example, if I set newsletter to true on page X and then user navigates to page Y, will the variable also be marked there?

  • Lag when recording with xvidcap?

    I used Xvidcap to record my desktop, but the quality of video was too bad (it lagged so much). I also tried with all output formats that xvidcap support, increase the frame-per-second as much as possible and the quality always at 100% but nothing changed.
