  • C# Get Keys from a Dictionary<string, Stream>

    Suppose I have a Dictionary like so: Dictionary<string, Stream> How can I get a list (or IEnumerable or whatever) of JUST the Keys from this dictionary? Is this possible? I could enumerate the dictionary, and extract the keys one by one, but I was hoping to avoid this. In my instance, the Dictionary contains a list of filenames (file1.doc, filex.bmp etc...) and the stream content of the file from another part of the application.

Because I have added my time variable as 'string' I cannot use the valueLabelsInterval option to only show every 4 labels. Because I can't do that the labels overlap and look ugly. Is there any other way to only show every other time label or every 4th one, I read through the docs but could not see how to do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

    I was recently on an interview for a position where C/C++ is the primary language and during one question I was told that it's possible to use the vtable to determine which class in a hierarchy a base pointer actually stores. So if, for example you have class A { public: A() {} virtual ~A() {} virtual void method1() {} }; class B : public A { public: B() {} virtual ~B() {} virtual void method1() {} }; and you instantiate A * pFoo = new B(), is it indeed possible to use the vtable to determine whether pFoo contains a pointer to an instance of A or B?

  • Tracking down slow managed DLL loading

    I am faced with the following issue and at this point I feel like I'm severely lacking some sort of tool, I just don't know what that tool is, or what exactly it should be doing. Here is the setup: I have a 3rd party DLL that has to be registered in GAC. This all works fine and good on pretty much every machine our software was deployed on before. But now we got 2 machines, seemingly identical to the ones we know work (they are cloned from the same image and stuffed with the same hardware, so pretty much the only difference is software settings, over which I went over and over, and they seem fine). Now the problem, the DLL in GAC takes a very long time to load. At least I believe this is the issue, what I can say definitively is that instantiating a single class from that DLL is the slow part. Once it is loaded, thing fly as they always have. But while on known-good machines the DLL loads so fast that a timestamp in the log doesn't even change, on these 2 machines it take over 1min to load. Knowns: I have no access to the source, so I can't debug through the DLL. Our app is the only one that uses it (so shouldn't be simultaneous access issues). There is only one version of this DLL in existance, so it shouldn't be a matter of version conflict. The GAC reference is being used (if I uninstall the DLL from GAC, an exception will be thrown about the missing GAC reference). Could someone with a greater skill in debug-fu suggest what I can do to track down the root cause of this issue?

  • Simple Scala syntax - trying to define "==" operator - what am I missing?

    While experimenting with some stuff on the REPL, I got to a point where I needed something like this: scala class A(x:Int) { println(x); def ==(a:A) : Boolean = { this.x == a.x; } } Just a simple class with an "==" operator. Why doesn't it work???     Hello I'm using fluent nhibernate v. 1.0.0.595. There is a class: public class Weight { public virtual int Id { get; set; } public virtual double Value { get; set; } } I want to map it on the following table: create table [Weight] ( WeightId INT IDENTITY NOT NULL, Weight DOUBLE not null, primary key (WeightId) ) Here is the map: public class WeightMap : ClassMap<Weight> { public WeightMap() { Table("[Weight]"); Id(x => x.Id, "WeightId"); Map(x => x.Value, "Weight").Not.Nullable(); } } The problem is that this mapping produces table with nullable Weight column: Weight DOUBLE null Not-nullable column is generated only with default convention for column name (i.e. Map(x = x.Value).Not.Nullable() instead of Map(x = x.Value, "Weight").Not.Nullable()), but in this case there will be Value column instead of Weight: create table [Weight] ( WeightId INT IDENTITY NOT NULL, Value DOUBLE not null, primary key (WeightId) ) I found similiar problem here: http://code.google.com/p/fluent-nhibernate/issues/detail?id=121, but seems like mentioned workaround with SetAttributeOnColumnElement("not-null", "true") is outdated. Does anybody encountered with this problem? Is there a way to specify named column as not-nullable?

  • Javascript code in ASP.NET MVC Partial Views (ASCX) or not?

    Is there a "best practice" for placing Javascript code when you have many partial views and JS code that's specific to them? I feel like I'm creating a maintenance nightmare by having many partial views and then a bunch of independent Javascript files for them which need to be synced up when there is a partial view change. It appears, for maintenance purposes, better to me to put the JS code with the partial view. But then I'm violating generally accepted practices that all JS code should be at the bottom of the page and not mixed in, and also I'd end up with multiple references to the same JS file (as I'd include a reference in each ASCX for intellisense purposes). Does anyone have a better idea? Thank you!

I want to have a LinkButton that adds 'span' tag around the text. protected override void Render(HtmlTextWriter writer) { Text = String.Concat("<span>", Text, "</span>"); base.Render(writer); } It's works perfectly, but only if I add text like this: <cc:TestLinkButton ID="TestLinkButton" runat="server" Text="SomeText"> </cc:TestLinkButton> If I want to add some image I will write something like this: <cc:TestLinkButton ID="LinkButton1" runat="server"> <asp:Image ID="Image1" runat="server" ImageUrl="~/Images/icon_holiday.png" BorderWidth="0" /> SomeText </cc:TestLinkButton> In this case Text property will be empty, because actualy "SomeText" is child control property. So question is is how to add tag around child controls.

    I am trying to have some LIs within a UL align left, right, and center within a page.   • How do I find where an exception was thrown in C++?

    I have a program that throws an uncaught exception somewhere. All I get is a report of an exception being thrown, and no information as to where it was thrown. It seems illogical for a program compiled to contain debug symbols not to notify me of where in my code an exception was generated. Is there any way to tell where my exceptions are coming from short of setting 'catch throw' in gdb and calling a backtrace for every single thrown exception?

  • What is a practical use for a closure in JavaScript?

    I'm trying my hardest to wrap my head around JavaScript's closures. I get that by returning an inner function, it will have access to any variable defined in it's immediate parent. Where would this be useful to me? Perhaps I haven't quite got my head around it yet. Most of the examples I have seen online don't provide any real world code, just vague examples. Can someone show me a real world use of a closure?   • Errors/Warnings/Debug Info no longer appears in Debug Console

    Hi Guys: This one is driving me crazy. When I run my App and open the Debug Console there is nothing there! Nope, not even the output from my NSLog statements. Before I would see a bunch of debug information starting with [Session Started ...] and ending with 'Terminating in response to SpringBoard's termination'. The Status Bar at the bottom of the Console says my App was successfully launched. Even Errors and Warnings from my code no longer appear. How do I get this to show up again? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Say, args1=msg args2=flow args3=flow == args4=flowbits If the sentence contains msg, flow, and another flow, then I should return the suggestion of flowbits. How can I go around doing it? I know I should scan (whenever a character is pressed on the textarea) a list or array for a match and return the result, but, 1000 entries, how should I implement it? I'm thinking of HashMap, but can I do something like this? <"msg,flow,flow","flowbits" Also, in a sentence the arguments might not be in order, so assuming that it's flow,flow,msg then I can't match anything in the HashMap as the key is "msg,flow,flow".   • Is this text wrapping technique possible in CSS and jQuery?

    I have built a sliding text thing for a website. http://www.solomonadventures.com/~new/adventure-tours/seafari-tours/ The background contains the menu (on the right hand side), and when it originally loads, I have placed an element to make the text look like it is wrapping around the menu. Now, I have a sliding text thing I was asked to implement. The buttons to use it are currently in the top left corner. My question is, when I slide the content down, am I able to somehow make the text still wrap around it? This is all I have thought of so far (all with trade offs) Make the text appear beneath the menu - no need to wrap Make the text as narrow to the beginning of the menu - no need to wrap Manually place placeholders in the text that make it line break so it appears to wrap - not elegant (site uses a CMS too) Is there any jQuery selector I could write that would allow me to select the paragraph from top (once slid to the top) or the top most text node (so I could do an after() to place a new placeholder element to force it to wrap?) Any other solutions? Many thanks.

The "outcome" can be, for example, to recall the client on another day (so I have to save the date, the hour, etc of this "future" call). How would you manage this data on a db?
