  • What is an example of a website/service which _isn't_ REST?

    So I just started digging into web tech, and I'm stuck on the concept of REST. Could someone clarify REST by giving me an example of what isn't rest? So, as far as I can tell, REST requires the server and client to both be in the same state at the end of every request-response HTTP transfer. Does that sound right? My understanding is that, if a client stores state information locally (which the server does not know about), that service is NOT rest. Thanks in advance.

  • Facebook Connect Post Feed from iPhone App without preview Broken!? URGENT!

    Hello All: I just downloaded the latest FBConnect build, popped in my keys and getting a mysterious hanging error only when I try to post a feed without previewing (setting preview to zero). The activity indicated disappears and the blank dialog window just hangs there. (This mirrors what I was getting on the app I was developing). If I try to post a feed with preview it works; set preview to zero it just hangs. Again; thats with the sample project "Publish Feed" button. Hitting getting permission button and then Publish Feed does same thing...... Other Developers have confirmed seeing this too...Apps that have previously had working feed posts have been broken for weeks. Discussions on facebook connect forum seem to be related to this.     Hi When does the AVAudioPlayer's currentTime method return a negative value? The audio file is playing (I am putting in a check before getting currentTime) but making a call to currentTime returns a negative value. Any ideas?   • iPhone SDK: How to detect a row-hit while in the editing mode?

    I've looked everywhere and I can't find it. I have a UITableView that contain rows of "checkmark" cells. The user clicks on a row to check/uncheck it. (It works!!!!) But I also want to allow the user to EDIT the data on that row. ... so I have an "EDIT" button at the top. The user hits it and is allowed to DELETE any rows. (That works too!!!!) But how do I also detect a "tap" on that row. Where is there some kind of a didSelectRowAtIndexPathWhileInEditMode ???? (Is that really the best way to do this: Allow "selections", and "deletions", and "editing" of each row?)

    So, my UITableViewCell has UITableViewCellAccessoryDetailDisclosureButton, and when somebody clicks on it it make long time just to show next view screen... so I want to show some "rolling wait image" (UIActivityIndicatorView ?) say next to UITableViewCellAccessoryDetailDisclosureButton in this cell, but how do I do it right?     Hi, I know theres hundred of questions and answers out there, but cant find one to specifically answer this. I need a web editor that will let me choose a dark themed editor. I understand gvim is one, but im not totally ready to let go of my mouse. I would like something like sublime text editor for windows, but open to other suggestions. The less bloat the best. I dont need a full IDE like eclipse, but willing to compromise, as long as the themes can easily be added. I've tried bluefish, kompozer and not happy with them. Just need a basic text editor that will highlight php syntax on a dark background.

    Hello All: I'd like to know how to open the camera inside of a pre-defined frame (not the entire screen). When the view loads, I have a box, and inside it, I want to display what the camera sees. I the Java world, Play! has it out of the box, but what I'm looking for is a more exhaustive list. Other examples that I'm aware of include: Nuxeo WebEngine, provided you're using Eclipse and the right plugin, or, in the Python world, Django and Pylons (when using the "--reload" option).

    Is it possible for a web page using Javascript to get data from another website? In my case I want to get it for calculations and graphing a chart. But I'm not sure if this is possible or not due to security concerns. If it is considered a no no but there is a work around I would appreciate being told the work around.     I have converted my old VS2008 Website to Web Application, now everything was working before I tried to convert it. But now I don't seem to be able to reference my Classes? For example I have a BasePage class that every .aspx page inherits like so public partial class SomePageName : BasePage { } But now I get this message? And the same for all the other classes? The type or namespace name 'BasePage' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) How do I find out which 'using' directive I am missing and whats an assembly reference?

    I have a tab bar which displays different views when clicked. When you click a tab for the first time, it calls the viewDidLoad method. But, it only calls that the first time. Is there a method that is called when a user clicks back to that tab, since the viewDidLoad won't be called that second time? (I need to do this to update a UITableView when the user clicks back to a tab)

  • Are the built-in images in iPhone documented, and is there a list of their names somewhere?

    I discovered somewhat by accident that if you make a UIButton in Interface Builder and type in Plus in the image field, a + image appears for the button. A similar result comes from typing Minus. I am wondering if this is a bug, or if there is some way the poor programmers can access the built-in general GUI images from other apple apps, such as the green +, the red -, the detail disclosure chevron, the big red "Delete Contact" or similarly styled button, etc. Has anyone else encountered this, or know where to access these things in Xcode? It makes sense to me that they should be usable, cause the Apple HIG seems to be all about making things recognizable and intuitive, and using them the way other apps use them.
