• Terminal OS X Error when using Python

  Hey, I'm trying to learn how to program so I've installed the latest version of Python and I've been following the Byte of Python tutorial. I'm using Textwrangler I've only gotten as far as the simple "Hello World" intro and I'm already having a problem. I type out the code (just without the ""): "#!/usr/bin/python" "#Filename: helloworld.py" "print('Hello World')" and save it to my desktop as helloworld.py. I then go into terminal and type "python3 helloworld.py" and I get the following error message: /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/3.1/Resources/Python.app/Contents/MacOS/Python: can't open file 'helloworld.py': [Errno 2] No such file or directory I was hoping someone could tell me what I'm doing wrong. If I choose to run the script from Textwrangler it operates just fine however I'm not able to access it from the Terminal. Thanks so much!

• Using Komodo IDE as Text editor from the OS X terminal

  According to this URL I should be able to start Komodo IDE from the command line when I want to edit a file. • Python server does not excecute PHP script: permission denied

  I am trying to execute a PHP file through a Python server. However, I get the following error: File "/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/CGIHTTPServer.py", line 255, in run_cgi os.execve(scriptfile, args, os.environ) OSError: [Errno 13] Permission denied The python server is running though. What have I done so far? Chmod'ed recursively all directories to (chmod -R a+x) (I know this is not secure but its just for testing purposes) for both Python installation directories and my scripts. Tried to find out if python server is running as root through ps aux grep py I am out of ideas. What could be going wrong else? Thanks for the feedback.

• issues changing default version when updating Python on Mac

  I have a MacBook that came with Python 2.5 installed. I need use a newer version, so I downloaded 3.1 and installed it, then ran the "Update Profile Script" that came with it, which is supposed to change the default version of Python to the one I downloaded. It appeared to run fine and said process completed, but it didn't work. When I type "python" into the terminal it displays version 2.5, and I still can't install pygame, which requires at least Python 2.6. When I do vi .profile I get this: export PATH=.:/opt/local/bin:/opt/local/sbin:$PATH export MANPATH=/opt/local/man:$MANPATH Setting PATH for Python 3.1 The orginal version is saved in .profile.pysave PATH="/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/3.1/bin:${PATH}" export PATH ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ".profile" 6L, 251C So it looks like the script did do something, but I don't know enough bash script to understand what. • How to associate the ".exe" extension to be opened with Mono?

  I want to asssociate the .exe file extension to Mono (don't care about wine). Apparently, when using Finder's GUI, only .app files (application bundles) can be selected. But the Mono executable (/Libraries/Frameworks/Mono.Framework/Current/bin/mono) is no such bundle. I tried some AppleScript on run this_file do shell script "mono this_file &" end run but Finder's GUI still doesn't allow to associate that with .exe's. How to associate a specific file extension to a command-line application in Mac OS X?

• .htaccess send requests to a subfolder's index.php

  I have searched stackoverflow for my answer, but nothing that I have seen seems to work. I have a framework that sends all requests to an index.php file. Everything works when I install it in the root of the virtual host: http://domain/ http://domain/home http://domain/home/index The problem happens when I try to install the framework in a subdirectory like: http://domain/blog/ Requests like: http://domain/blog/home http://domain/blog/home/index All of those requests should be sent to the index.php file that lives in /blog My current set up is: http://domain/index.php - This file just prints out 'we are in the root of the virtual host' The framework is not installed there. http://domain/blog - This works fine When I try to got to http://domain/blog/home I get the roots index.php file not the frameworks. I get the message 'we are in the root of the virtual host'. I have the following .htaccess file located at http://domain/blog/.htaccess RewriteEngine on Options Indexes FollowSymLinks -MultiViews RewriteBase /blog/ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule !\.(js|ico|gif|jpg|png|css)$ index.php Any help is greatly appreciated. • Install multiple PHP environments on OS X Snow Leopard

  I just upgraded my MBP to Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6), which took PHP to 5.3 This is great, except I use my MBP as my development machine and I use a lot of PHP libs and frameworks (namely CakePHP 1.2) which are not compatible at the moment with PHP 5.3. CakePHP in particular does not have a stable version for PHP 5.3 so its not a matter of upgrading the framework (and the production servers are under PHP 5.2 anyway.) Is there a way to install PHP 5.2.9 alongside PHP 5.3 and then using httpd.conf or .htaccess tell Apache which version of PHP to use for a particular directory? Alternatively is there a way to do this with MacPorts? Thanks!

I'm going through the matplotlib documentation and prepared to use the iPython interactive Python shell with ipython -pylab. However I get this: MBP:~ Me$ ipython -pylab -bash: ipython: command not found Did I fail to install iPython? I used easy_install as advised. Any ideas? Update Thought I'd just say that I found the iPython "executable" in /opt/local/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/bin after doing a Spotlight search. Still a little confused as to what to do.

  One of our web-projects was hacked. Malefactor changed some template files in project and 1 core file of the web-framework (it's one of the famous php-frameworks). We found all corrupted files by git and reverted them. So now I need to find the weak point. With high probability we can say, that it's not the ftp or ssh password abduction. The support specialist of hosting provider (after logs analysis) said that it was the security hole in our code. My questions: 1) What tools should I use, to review access and error logs of Apache? (Our server distro is Debian). 2) Can you write tips of suspicious lines detection in logs? Maybe tutorials or primers of some useful regexps or techniques? 3) How to separate "normal user behavior" from suspicious in logs. 4) Is there any way to preventing attacks in Apache? • JavaApplicationStub Compatibility with all java versions

  Hi, I am running a Java application on Mac Leopard & on Mac Mini. My Mac Mini upgraded, it is using Java Version 1.6.0_17 and Mac Leopard have version 1.5.0_13. To run that application on Mac Mini I have to copy JavaApplicationStub from path -"/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Resources/MacOS/JavaApplicationStub" to my application "Content/Resources/Java". But this application successfully run on Mac Leopard. If I do not copy stub at Mac Mini then I am unable to launch application using app by double click, it shows icon for few second then disappears, so in that case I have to run application with its jar. I want that without copying explicitly JavaApplicationStub, how can I run app with all versions of java. If this possible then what changes I have to made? The info.plist file contain JVMVersion is 1.4+. Thanks!

I would like to know if there is any user interface which allows me to choose a specific package/version and deploy and any user interface i can already use which allows me to show the deployments history and their status. • Setting up JDK 7 for IntelliJ on the Mac

  I installed the JDK by downloading the dmg from the Oracle website here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk7u9-downloads-1859576.html After installation I tried to setup the JDK in IntelliJ but when I set the location to the JDK in the Project Structure-SDKs screen, only a few libraries were loaded and many (including all libraries from Content/Classes/) were missing. How can I add all of the necessary libraries libraries? The install location for the JDK is /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.7.0_07.jdk/Contents/Home I've tried looking in /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/ to no avail.

• How to install PyQt on Mac OS X 10.6

  I want to install PyQt. This seems kind of complicated to install on OS X. I haven't found any precompiled packages of it (are there any? I would really prefer those). So I downloaded PyQt. And SIP, because it depends on that. Check your build configuration." Ok, so I tried with python configure.py --use-arch=i386. Same error. Any idea?

  We are developing a software product in .Net targeting large corporates. The product has both server and desktop client components. We anticipate that our product will be used by a small subset of workers in the corporation - probably those in the Finance function. We currently require .Net 3.5 but are considering moving to .Net 4. Could anyone with experience of managing IT in such an environment tell us whether requiring .Net 4.0 at this stage would be a bar to adopting our software? What attitudes prevail regarding the use of frameworks like .Net?

  I run a firewall on a central router. Recently, several users want to use Skype. Since firewalling Skype virtually means to switch the firewall off, I consider to allow users to temporarily punch holes for their system. Since the users have no accounts on the router, I consider using Kerberos for authentication and authorization. The router is a Debian Squeeze box, with minimal configuration, i.e. no web-server, database or similar gimmicks. Does anyone know an existing solution, which could be used for that purpose? Or does anybody know easy to use and well documented frameworks in say Perl, Python, C, C++, ... making the set-up of a Kerberos authenticated Client and Server application really simple?

• Configure Cucumber with SentientUser

  I have an application using the SentientUser gem to provide the current user to my models. On top of that I'm using default scoping to ensure that a user can only ever access data that they own. So a typical model for me looks something like this: class Location < ActiveRecord::Base validates_presence_of :name, :time_zone, :address belongs_to :account belongs_to :address accepts_nested_attributes_for :address default_scope :conditions => { :account_id => User.current.account } end When I run rake cucumber I get an error on the default_scope line about account being nil. My guess is that when the cucumber rake task is run it doesn't have access to the correct application controller to inject the current_user method and thus SentientUser can't get the current user? • iPhone SDK 3.0 and symbolicatecrash not getting along?

  * UPDATE * I've reinstalled with Snow Leopard, clean install. Completely wiped my existing Leopard install. Same problem persists. I've tried numbers of versions of symbolicatecrash to resolve symbols in my crash reports. From the version provided by Apple, to Alan's Quatermain's version posted on GitHub and finally from http://openradar.appspot.com/6438643. For whatever reason, the best results I can get is for symbols on my own libraries to get resolved. Normally, this is enough data to point me in the right direction -- other times it is not. With 2.x I had no problems getting the symbols for my code + Apple provided libraries from within the stack traces in each thread. Most likely an issue with my environment here, I'm not at all doubting the work that Apple or Alan have done. Yes I'm certain the dSYM I have stashed away is the same exact one that's generating the crash report. Although 'Foo' is me, and getting symbols from it is wonderful, I need to see symbols from the other functions in the stack to truly understand my reports. Note: For devices that crash running the app on iPhone OS 2.2.1, I have no problem getting all symbols. This is an iPhone OS 3.0 issue it appears. • Recommended ASP.NET Shared Hosting (USA)

  Ok, I have to admit I'm getting fed up with www.discountasp.net's pricing model and this annoyance has built up over the past 8 years or so. I've been with them for years and absolutely love them on the technical side, however it's getting ridiculously expensive for so little that you get. I mean here's my scenario: 1) I am running 2 SQL Server databases which costs me $10/ea per month so that's $20/month for 2 and I only get 500 mb disk space which is horrible 2) I am paying $10/mo just for the hosting itself which I only get 1 gig of disk space! I mean common! 3) I am simply running 2 small apps (Screwturn Wiki & Subtext Blog)...so I don't really care if it's up 99% or not, it's not worth paying a total of $300 just to keep these 2 apps running over discountasp.net Anyone else feel the same? Yes, I know they have great support, probably have great servers running behind this but in the end I really don't care as long as my site is up 95% or better. Yes, the hosting toolset rocks. But you know I bet you I can find a similar set somewhere else. I like how I can totally control IIS 7 at discountasp and I can control my own app pool etc. That's very powerful and essential. But anyone have any good alternatives to discountasp that gives me close to the same at a much more reasonable cost point? I mean http://www.m6.net/prices.aspx gives you 10 SQL Databases for $7 and 200 gigs disk space! I don't know about their tools or support but just looking at those numbers and some other hosts I've seen, I feel that discountasp.net is way out of line. They don't even offer any purchasing discounts such as it would be nice if my 2nd SQL Server is only $5/month not $10...stuff like this, to make it much more realistic and fair. Opinions (people who do have discountasp.net, people who have left them, or people who have another host they like)??? But geez $300 just to host a couple DBs and lightweight open source apps? Not worth the price they are charging. I'm almost at a price point that enables me to get a decent dedicated server! I really don't care about beta ASP.NET frameworks support. Not a big deal to me. If you have alternative suggestions rather than your experience with discountasp, I'd like to know how their toolset is. Do you have complete control over your DB in terms of adding users, and same goes for the web app pool, etc.? Discountasp.net's control panel rocks. I don't want to loose the ability to at least control and add virtual directories, recycle my dedicated app pool myself, backup my sql database myself, through tools which is what discountasp does give you. I'd also want to know that the hoster at least gets the latest and greatest in terms of non-beta ASP.NET related frameworks available to its shared hosters.

Why? How can I fix this? page2.php is creating some more sessions after some processing is done and a response is sent back to page1.php. The submit button of the form on page1.php is hit and the page gets POST'ed to page3.php. But when the SESSION info that gets created in page2.php is echoed, it's blank signifying that SESSIONS from page2.php are not used. How can I fix this? I looked over a lot of information and have spent about 50 hours trying to do different things with my scripts before arriving at the above conclusions. My app. is custom made using function (not OOPS) and does not use any PHP frameworks & I am not even about to use any as my knowledge of OOP concepts is limited any many frameworks are object oriented. I came across race conditions, but the solutions provided don't help too much. One more solution of using DB to hold sessions and seek and retrieve from DB is the last thing on my mind and I really want to avoid creating table, coding and maintaining code for a task as simple as just keeping sessions across pages in the same domain. So my request is: Is there a way that I can solve the above problem(s) via simple coding in present conditions? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
