  • best way to deal with python pdb flakiness re/stdout?

    I love python and hate the pdb debugger. For instance, if I have a program where stdout is redirected, my pdb prompts all go to the redirection, because the library was written to write to stdout. Oftentimes this problem is subtle, causing me to think a program is hanging when it's really waiting for input. How do people work around this? (Unfortunately, using other debuggers like winpdb is not an option). Thanks, /YGA

    I saw a similar question about the reason Google Chrome wasn't written in C#. But with the upcoming version of Windows and Microsoft's flagship language, I am having a hard time understanding why Microsoft isn't pushing C# to its fullest potential to give it more exposure via their market share? In addition can be interpreted as "Is C# and the .Net framework suitable to run a modern OS like Windows 7" Btw this is not a flaming question, but curiosity. I use C# daily and really love it.

    Should I use oAuth, for example LinkedIn or Twitter, as my signin mechanism for my app? It seems that most apps just use oAuth to connect other services to it, but they make you set up your own user/password after you use oAuth (including StackOverflow), and I'm not really sure why this is.     Trying to get the same functionality as Google FastFlip. Not just with the thumbnails, but even for the larger images too. Notice how when you click on a story, you see the main story front and center, and you see smaller half-screens of previous and next stories. How can I get that functionality? Is there a plugin for one of the JS frameworks that does this already? I also love the speed and feel of flipping through the images.

    Trying to parse a csv file that has all the data wrapped in double quotes, because there may be commas in the double quotes. Looks like this: $songs = '"1, 2, 3, 4 (I Love You)","Plain White T's","CBE10-22",15,"CBE10-22","","","CB",984,"","10/05/10"'; $regResult = preg_match( "", $songs, $matches ); I can't figure out a regex that will return the data between the quotes as the matches. I'm sure there is some regex master that can help me with this.

However, we currently use Subversion, and he doesn't want to force us devs to use a version control system that we don't like. Is is possible to integrate a different version control program into MKS Integrity? I'm particularly interested in SVN, Git, Mercurial and Bazaar.     Right, so if you have to decide on a server-side language for a distributed Linux-based server backend, would you choose: PHP Mono ASP.net Java As a C++ programmer, I'm thinking Java+Tomcat, but I'd love to hear experienced thoughts here, especially relating to debugging and IDE (likely Eclipse). Also, please, it's not a flame question. I'm seeing excellent sites written in all, I'm just thinking about the compile/debug/release cycle. Cheers, Shane
