  • Samba Share - MS Excel when saved (can't access the file, there are several possible reasons)

    Dear Fellow ServerFaulter, I have a weird problem in my samba share. I have one share definition for 3 client (A,B,C) This share contain some excel file which having a lot of formula and linked each other. Client A access the file with libre office (ubuntu), client B access with WinXP & MS Office 2003, The write and read process working successfuly on Both of them. The problem occur when client C accessing the same file with MS Excel 2003 (windows xp). This messagebox appear when he saving the file : Microsoft office excel cannot access the \\192.168.1.23\myshare\ There are several possible reasons: - The File ort path does not exist The file is being used by another program. - The workbook you are trying to save has the same name as a - Currently open workbooks. I was trying http://support.microsoft.com/kb/291204 but it didnt work. Below is my share definition : [brainshare] comment = brainshare path = /opt/brainshare/ valid users = @brainshare force group = brainshare read only = No create mask = 0775 veto files = /*.scr/*.eml/thumbs.com/ Help me please... Absolute position don't work! Div is rendered on the top of document and with 100% width. Why? I can't use a html tables. Version on ms word: 2003

  • Install MS Office on Windows Server 2008 - in support of Quickbooks RemoteApp

    How can I install MS Office on Windows Server 2008? The purpose would be to enable Quickbooks to be able to export to Excel. Quickbooks is set up to run as a RemoteApp in a Terminal Server environment. The Quickbooks applicaiton senses whether or not Excel is installed and will not allow the user to create an Excel report unless Excel is actually installed on the client running Quickbooks. Since the client and the server are the same machine in a Terminal Server environment, Excel must be installed on Windows Server for the Quickbooks Excel exporting feature to work in this setup. There is no need to actually use Excel in a Terminal Services environment. We only need to generate the Excel files using the server, then we can use an installed version Excel on a regular Windows 7 machine to work with the Excel file. MS Office does not normally install on Windows Server. Is there any way to buy a special license? Could we somehow fool Quickbooks into thinking Excel is installed, if that would work?

  • How do i play nicely with MS SQL/SQL Server 2008

    Big problem. I have nearly given up. I am trying to port my prototype to use MS SQL so it will work on a server once i get it (the server will be SQL Server 2008, shared, i dont know any more info). So i tried to connect to SQL Server via visual studios IDE and had no luck. I enabled TCP and named pipes and restarted the service (and computer) with still no luck. I remembered about mdf files so i made that after an obstacle of not being able to make the connect string require i figure out visual studio has it in its properties and successfully connected with that. Then i had a problem with nested transactions. After not being able to figure out how to check i wondered if i can configure it to allow it somehow. I always thought all of MS were the same except for limitations but sql server seems to support nested transactions so theres no point trying to work around the problem with .mdf files since i wont need them and really just used it to port the base of my sql code and to check if syntax is correct. I tried installing SQL Server Management Studio since people mentioned it several times (as a solution or at least help). When installing it on windows 7 it says it may not be compatible. After running it, it launched SQL Server Installation Center (64-bit) which doesnt seem to be the same thing as i dont see a way to modify any of my server (networking) configurations or edit user permissions, etc. I am clueless what to do next. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm posting here bc i think my problem is more configurations and sql server then programming.

Do I create an entirely new domain model for the UI, and where is this kept in the project structure...in the domain layer, the UI layer, etc? Also, what do I use as my querying mechanism, do I create new repositories specifically for the UI domain objects, something other than repositories, or something else?

  • How to construct this query? (Ordering by COUNT() and joining with users table)

    users table: id-user-other columns scores table: id-user_id-score-other columns They're are more than one rows for each user, but there's only two scores you can have. (0 or 1, == win or loss). So I want to output all the users ordered by the number of wins, and all the users ordered by the numbers of losses. I know how to do this by looping through each user, but I was wondering how to do it with one query. Any help is appreciated!

    Taking over some code from my predecessor and I found a query that uses the Like operator: SELECT * FROM suppliers WHERE supplier_name like '%'+name+%'; Trying to avoid SQL Injection problem and parameterize this but I am not quite sure how this would be accomplished. Any suggestions ? note, I need a solution for classic ADO.NET - I don't really have the go-ahead to switch this code over to something like LINQ.

  • How to handle when SSRS does not automatically update fields based on database query?

    So I am trying to change the number of fields in my dataset in SSRS and the refresh button is not picking up the added field from the SQL server. The query is definitely returning the correct data, as I have double checked in the server engine itself. Also, I have tried manually adding the field using the SSRS menu, but as soon as I execute it disappears. Any suggestions or similar experiences?

    I am parameterizing my web app's ad hoc sql. As a result, I expect the query plan cache to reduce in size and have a higher hit ratio. Perhaps even other important metrics will be improved. Could I use perfmon to track this? If so, what counters should I use? If not perfmon, how could I report on the impact of this change?
