• parser error in asp.net?

  hi, i developed a web application it is working fine in local server. when i uploaded the site in online when i click on some of the buttons i am getting this error. I am using master page, but i am not place the scriptmanager in master page,i place the scriptmanager tag in every page. It is working fine in local server but it is giving error in online. please can u help me. • How do you learn a class hierarchy quickly?

  Hi, Something I don't enjoy about programming is learning a new API. For example, right now I'm trying to learn Windows Identity Foundation. Its frustrating because I'm going to spend the bulk of the time learning how a few classes work and actually only write several lines of code. In .NET, there are so many types that I seem to spend more time hunting around in msdn for a class than writing code. It also interrupts my workflow while I'm working because I have to type a little bit than look something up. Obviously, I don't have to do this for the basic classes. Whenever new things come though there is definitely some looking up to do. Then I often don't reuse that class enough to really review it or bring it into action. I'm wondering if anybody out there has a found a way to memorize (or look up more efficiently) these object model hierarchies?

• creating a wordpress dev enviornment and uploading to production

  I am an old school java developer who is considering a using wordpress. I'm used to developing locally on my PC (yeah yeah not even a mac) and then ftping my files up to a production environment on a remote server. My high level review of wordpress gives me the impression that typically there is no concept of lower environments and that all updates occur directly in production. Is this the case? If not, can someone explain how one goes about uploading the files to a web site? Thanks, Jeff

• Ignore route with a specific parameter

  Hello, I have an @url.Action in which I pass a parameter to the action. When the parameter is null, I would like to just do nothing and stay on the same page. What I have done is the following: routes.MapRoute( null, "Test/View/{Id}", new { controller = "Test", action = "View" }, new { Id = @"\d+" } //id must be numerical ); routes.IgnoreRoute("Test/View/{*pathInfo}"); The action is not executed but my problem is that I get this: Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. • Django: Localization Issue

  In my application, I have a dictionary of phrases that are used throughout of the application. This same dictionary is used to create PDFs and Excel Spreadsheets. The dictionary looks like so: GLOBAL_MRD_VOCAB = { 'fiscal_year': _('Fiscal Year'), 'region': _('Region / Focal Area'), 'prepared_by': _('Preparer Name'), 'review_cycle':_('Review Period'), ... snip ... } In the code to produce the PDF, I have: fy = dashboard_v.fiscal_year fy_label = GLOBAL_MRD_VOCAB['fiscal_year'] rg = dashboard_v.dashboard.region rg_label = GLOBAL_MRD_VOCAB['region'] rc = dashboard_v.review_cycle rc_label = GLOBAL_MRD_VOCAB['review_cycle'] pb = dashboard_v.prepared_by pb_label = GLOBAL_MRD_VOCAB['prepared_by'] Now, when the PDF is produced, in the PDF, I don't see these labels but rather, I see: <django.utils.functional.__proxy__ object at 0x10106fdd0> Can somebody help me with this?   I am sending a Post with object loader and getting this error in output window. FYI, My didFailWithError: delegate never got hit. Not sure why. `objectLoader:didFailWithError:]:` unrecognized selector `sent to class 0x123608` How did i find out what is 0x123608? I set the router in AppDelegate class and Mapping in AppDelegate too. here is a method in my class which inherit RKObjectLoaderDelegate. I am using shared singleton. • JsonStore.insert() causes exception in extjs

  I have an EditorGridPanel with toolbar button to add new records. Everything works fine except one scenario. When I try to insert a record which already exists in database, server sends back: {"success":false,"message":"already exists","data":{}} but grid creates a new row marked with red triangle. If after that I try to insert a new record (even if it doesn't exist in database), everything works fine on the server side, but i get an 'uncaught exception' in firebug. It says: 'uncaught exception: Ext.data.DataReader: #realize was called with invalid remote-data. Please see the docs for DataReader#realize and review your DataReader configuration.' why is that?

  I have a development website running on my local machine, I can access it locally by typing the address http://mycomputer.mynetwork.local/myapp/default.aspx however when anybody else tries to browse to it they get an error: Server Error in '/' Application. The resource cannot be found. Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. • Branch for each developer in GIT repo

  I'd like to move my project to GitHub from local svn repository. Multiple developers are curently working on this project. I was thinking that each developer should have their own branch in which they would commit changes. When manager review their work, he will merge it into master branch. I don't want separate repository for each developer as GitHub has limited number of private repositories. Is this a good idea? What are other alternatives?

  Is there a decent GUI tool for Windows that allows to publish files from/to a remote FTP (or SFTP) server with the same ease of use that WinMerge offers in local discs? I'll basically use it to upload changes to web sites. I've tried like a dozen tools and they're all terrible. They have difficult interfaces, you need to spend ten minutes configuring absurdly complicate project settings, there's no simple way to ignore specific files or they use custom databases that break when someone else uploads files—not to mention deployment frameworks that force you to script everything in their custom language. I don't need or even want to schedule or automate. I want a manual process I can review. I'm tired of picking files one by one in Filezilla while reading the Subversion logs. I'd love an open source tool but...

  I want to include Microsoft AntiXss V1.5 library on my live site running in a medium trust setting.However, I got an error something like: Required permissions cannot be acquired. • Cant get Tomcat6.0 to work with Windows 7 Environment

  Prior to upgrading to windows 7, I was able to use Tomcat 6.0, but when I upgraded to the new Windows, and downloaded Eclipse EE, and downloaded the apache content, I am unable to get Apache to run. When I attempt to start my apacher server through either system tray, or even windows services, it gives the followign error screen. "Windows could not start the Apache Tomcat 6 on local computer. For more information review the system event log. Refer to server specific error code 0." I have been able to locate some forums about error code 0, and some other documentation on this problem, but none of the solutions seems to work. One of the solutions I came across said to take the msvcr71.dll (mscvrt.dll on new platforms) and put it into the bin folder of apache. This also did not work. Does anybody know a fix for this problem, or a way to get around it so I can get my server up and running thanks.

  Apple's documentation for iOS 7 makes me think it is not, for it makes a distinction between "restored by the system" (i.e. built into iOS 7), "restored by your app" (i.e. functionality required inside app"), and "not required". The fact there being three (and not two) options and product type "consumable" being marked as "not restored" makes me think that an app that does not support restoring consumable product may still pass Apple's review process. However this popular question and answer seem to suggest that such support is required ("I read somewhere ...") But would this not amount to "consumable" taking on "restored by your app" semantics, which seems to contradict the quoted piece of Apple documentation.

• Is GOTO really as evil as we are led to believe?

  I'm a young programmer, so all my working life I've been told GOTO is evil, don't use it, if you do, your first born son will die. Recently, I've realized that GOTO actually still exists in .NET and I was wondering, is GOTO really as bad as they say, or is it just because everyone says you shouldn't use it, so that's why you don't. I know GOTO can be used badly, but are there any legit situations where you may possibly use it. The only thing I can think of is maybe to use GOTO to break out of a bunch of nested loops. I reckon that might be better then having to "break" out of each of them but because GOTO is supposedly always bad, I would never use it and it would probably never pass a peer review. What are your views? Is GOTO always bad? Can it sometimes be good? Has anyone here actually been gutsy enough to use GOTO for a real life system?

  I'm using the .net Crystal Reports viewer to display a report. This works properly, but when I click on the print option, and then click "OK" on the options popup, I get the following error: Access is denied. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException: Access is denied. And the same thing when I try to export. I'm running this on the Visual Studio development server, VS2008. What can I do to correct this?

  In a code review I came across the following code that contains the following: # Python bug that renders the unicode identifier (0xEF 0xBB 0xBF) # as a character. # If untreated, it can prevent the page from validating or rendering # properly. bom = unicode( codecs.BOM_UTF8, "utf8" ) r = r.replace(bom, '') This is in a function that passes a string to Response object (Django or Flask). Is this still a bug that needs this fix in Python 2.7 or 3? Something tells me it isn't, but I thought I'd ask because I don't know this problem very well. Thanks for reading.

  Is it possible to validate a form with PHP AND Javascript? I am currently able to do both using my existing form but only on an individual basis. My overall goal is this: Validate form using javascript client side and present any errors to the user immediately If javascript validation passes, a flag is created and then the PHP script can begin. When doing my javascript validation, i use the following code within the form tag: <form id="Enroll_Form" action="review.php" method="post" name="Enroll_Form" onsubmit="return Enroll_Form_Validator(this)" language="javascript"> if I want to process the PHP validation, I am forced to rename the action to the PHP_SELF file (or simply the same file name i'm using) and remove the 'onsubmit' function. Any ideas?

• How to find thousands of company names?

  How can I find or generate thousands of company names for testing and demo purposes? (Address, phone number, and related information would be nice too.) I've got a system I'm building which includes business contact information. Pretty common no doubt. My test/demo database currently has randomly generated individual's names loaded (thanks to a handy IRS spreadsheet I found). This has worked great for internal testing and review purposes, but it looks really odd when shown to prospective customers. I've tried various online public information sources (e.g. EDGAR, and county based property records searches), but these all require me to manually stitch together the results in blocks of 50 names or so at a time. I could do this, but was really hoping for a search service or data store out there that had this type of information readily searchable and retrievable in very large batches.

• Good code visualization / refactoring tools for C++?

  I've found myself coming across a lot of reasonably large, complicated codebases at work recently which I've been asked to either review or refactor or both. This can be extremely time consuming when the code is highly concurrent, makes heavy use of templates (particularly static polymorphism) and has logic that depends on callbacks/signals/condition variables/etc. Are there any good visualization tools for C++ period, and of those are there any that actually play well with "advanced" C++ features? Anything would probably be better than my approach now, which is basically pen+paper or stepping through the debugger. The debugger method can be good for following a particular code path, but isn't great for seeing the big picture you really need when doing serious refactoring. EDIT: I should mention that Visual Studio plugins aren't going to be a lot of help to me, since our stuff is mostly Linux-only.

• SQL: Join Parent - Child tables

  I'm building a simple review website application and need some help with SQL Query. There are 3 tables (Topics, Comments, Users). I need a SQL query to select the data from all 3 tables. The 'Topics' table is the parent and the 'Comments' table contains the child records (anywhere from zero to 100 records per parent. The third table 'Users' contains the user information for all users. Here are the fields for the 3 tables: Topics (topicID, strTopic, userID) Comments (commentID, topicID, strComment, userID) Users (userID, userName) I tried: SELECT * FROM Topics Inner Join Comments ON Topics.topicID = Comments.topicID Inner Join Users ON Topics.userID = Users.userID But this does not work correctly because there are multiple topics and the User info is not joined to the Comments table. Any help would be appreciated.

• Is it possible to reference a file stored in Isolated Storage by its URI?

  Using this previous question as motivation, I would like to temporarily store images and videos in Isolated Storage. My application (written in WPF/C#) will allow a user to review these temporarily stored items by viewing their contents in a MediaElement. I was hoping to set the MediaElement's Source Property to a video or image's URI stored in IsolatedStorage but I cannot figure out how to dynamically create a URI since it doesn't appear to be naively supported by IsolatedStorage. Any help would be greatly appreciated - thank you in advance! Update - 1/21/09 After battling the issue for a day, I concluded that the Isolated Storage approach is not practical for storing large video files that need to be referenced by a Uri.

• TFS: How do I view .cs files in the VS IDE when viewing details of a shelveset?

  For our code review process we open the details of a shelveset to see all files that have been worked on. Right clicking and choosing "Compare" works great for existing ( modified ) files. But, when a file has been added I just want to view the file. Double clicking ( or right click - view ) opens .cs ( and .sql )files in notepad. When I try to open a .PRC file ( extension for our stored procedures ) I get a prompt that allows me to choose what program to use for viewing. Does anyone know how to get this prompt to show up for .cs files ( and all other files, for that matter ) Thanks!   I suggested the testing and functional teams to use Freemind map for jotting the functional flows and test steps. There was some paranoia but our module took it up and the QA teams were surprised to see near zero review comments. There was misconception among the team that there are doing more work. I assured them that by the time others would complete their work along with comment fixes, we would be going out for team lunchs and we did. The real returns came when the developers started refering to the created document in their discussions. So share your contribution(s).
