  • How to know from a bash script if the user abruptly closes ssh session

    I have a bash script that acts as the default shell for a user loging in trough ssh. It provides a menu with several options one of wich is sending a file using netcat. The netcat of the embedded linux I'm using lacks the -w option, so if the user closes the ssh connection without ever sending the file, the netcat command waits forever. I need to know if the user abruptly closes the connection so the script can kill the netcat command and exit gracefully. Things I've tried so far: Trapping the SIGHUP: it is not issued. The only signal issued i could find is SIGCONT, but I don't think it's reliable and portable. Playing with the -t option of the read command to detect a closed stdin: this would work if not for a silly bug in the embedded read command (only times out on the first invocation)

    In one of the page I have is where administrators are allowed, however, I use if the session isn't set, the header will redirect them to index.php and that method works. If I replace index.php with home which is for the htaccess which changes it to index.php but it gives an error in the browser This works: if(!isset($_SESSION['MEMBER'])){ header("Location: index.php"); } This does not work: if(!isset($_SESSION['MEMBER'])){ header("Location: home"); } htaccess: RewriteRule ^home$ index.php The error in Firefox: The page isn't redirecting properly Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete. This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies. What's wrong with it? How do I get this method to work?

    Hi, I've got a python/WSGI app which needs to check to see if a user has logged on to a PHP web app. The problem is that the PHP app checks if a user has logged on by comparing a value in the $_SESSION variable to a value in the cookie from the user's browser. I would prefer to avoid changing the behavior of the php app if at all possible. My questions: Is there anyway I can access the session variables from within python? Where should I start to look? Are there any obvious security/performance issues I should be aware of when taking this approach?

  • Horizontal Scaling of Tomcat in Microsoft Azure

    Hey everyone, I am working on this quiet a while, but still no conclustion. I want to do horizontal scaling of Tomcat instances in Microsoft Azure (1,2,3,... Tomcat instances for one service). I read lots of articles about session replication, clustering,... with Tomcat. Since Azure does not support Multicasts, there is no easy way to cluster Tomcat. Also sticky sessions is no options, because Azure does round robin load balancing. Setting up two services - one with Terracotta or Apache mod_jk - and the other with Tomcat instances seems overkill for me (if even doable)... Is this even possible? Thanks in advance for reading and answering my question. Every comment/idea is highly appreciated.

    Hi all, I have an asp.net page that runs certain algorithm and returns it's output. I was wondering what will happen and how to handle a case where the algorithm due to a bug goes into infinite loop. It will hog the cpu and other sessions will be served very slowly. I would love to have a way to tell IIS, if processing Algo.aspx takes more than 5 seconds, kill it or something like that. Thanks in advance

    Hi all. I have issue about multiple login in asp.net. Case this happen: User X login as "user1" in web browser. Then user Y also login as "user1" also in another web browser. User Y got error message "Another user log in some account". That is work as expected. If X, close their web browser. Then try again to login in as "user1". X get also get "Another user log in some account". So i trying debug then i found session is remove when web browser is close, but cache still remaining in web browser. Anyone have idea about this how to clear cache when user close their browser, (not tab). Regard.

    I'm using curl multi API for multiple curl requests. first I'm using a single request to login to a site and save the cookie file. then I'm using the curl multi API to get some data from that site. The problem I'm facing is that from some reason the cookie file does not get read and I'm redirecting to the main login page.     I have built the MVC application with WCF service. The major problem I have experienced with refreshing page. I have created a login page with session (username and password). But when you refresh the home page by pressing F5, it would automatically log out. That is my problem. I need to stay the home page after refresh. I have been googling around to find a solution but it seems not helpful. Any idea? Your advise or code example much appreciated.

    We have migrated our Asp .NET application from Windows 2000 server to Windows 2003 Server when we access the site from Internet explorer we are facing some cache issues like when we click on logout its redirecting to homepage instead of login page but when i try to navigate inside its not allowing me i.e. its throwing me the user id and password is wrong.. i am facing this issue only in IE if i access the same page from Firefox i am not gettiing these kind of issue.. Is this problem related to some IIS settings or some code change is required? please help me in solving this issue...

    so when my url looks like this: http://mywebsitehere.com/?kw=1 I am using this code below to do stuff with it: <?php if( isset($_GET['kw'] )){ //my div here } ?> It works great, and I am getting exactly what I want on the page. However, any link I click on that page will change the url structure and remove the ?kw=1 . Is there anyway to add the ?kw=1 to every link for that session? I have no clue how to do this?     Running an MVC2 site against IIS7 and would like to capture more detail of how users traverse the site - ideally to the point of being able to replay even the duration between mouse clicks - feedback of where people pause and/or backtrack. I could do this with flash but that's no longer an option. Now it's just IIS7 via asp.net f4. That should be enough IIS7 is supposed to be extensible enough that there'd be any number of 3rd party options for this sort of niche need. I'm willing to consider client-side .net components but this sure seems to be the responsibility of the server. [opps...does this belong on serverfault?] thx

    I have spent over 2 hours scouring the net trying to figure this out. I am trying to stop multiple form submission any faster than 60 seconds. Here is what I am using. session_start(); if (!isset($_SESSION['last_submit'])) $_SESSION['last_submit'] = time(); if (time()-$_SESSION['last_submit'] < 60) die('Post limit exceeded. Please wait at least 60 seconds'); else $_SESION['last_submit'] = time(); I found this bit here on the site but haven't been able to figure anything else out as far as getting it to work. I have this bit of code on my page at the beginning that does the DB query with the previous pages POST results. Do I need to set $last_submit to a certain value? Any help is appreciated.
