• AT&T’s new prepaid plan for smartphones –$65 for 1 GB data and unlimited calls, text

  AT&T is stepping up competition in prepaid mobile plans offering and trying to attract more smartphone customers who are not interested to lock in with expensive contracts. Today AT&T announced a new prepaid plan for smartphone customers which offers 1 GB of , unlimited calls and text for $65 a month. Compared to existing plans that offers same , the new plan saves $10 per month and rates are comparable to T-Mobile prepaid service. The new plan will be available to all prepaid customers from October 7, 2012. I’m using AT&T prepaid plan for the past 3 months and paying $75 for 1 GB data, unlimited calls. Few days ago I did some analysis on prepaid plans offered by various network providers and found T-Mobile has cheapest plans that suits my needs – $60 for 2 GB data,  unlimited calls and texts. Even though T Mobile’s network coverage is not as great as AT&T in the area where I live, I planned to switch to save $15 per month. After reading today’s announcement, I don’t think that I’ll switch to T Mobile for saving $5 + 1 GB of extra data.  Thanks AT&T for the new plan, I’ll stay with you for now. via engadget

• Text contains characters that cannot be resolved by this SpriteFont

  I'm trying to draw currency symbols in an Arial Spritefont. According to thissite, the font contains these symbols. I've included the Unicode character region for these symbols in the Content Processor SpriteFont file, like so: <CharacterRegions> <CharacterRegion> <Start>&#32;</Start> <End>&#126;</End> </CharacterRegion> <CharacterRegion> <!-- Currency symbols --> <Start>&#8352;</Start> <End>&#8378;</End> </CharacterRegion> </CharacterRegions> However, whenever I try to draw a € (Euro) symbol, I get this exception: Text contains characters that cannot be resolved by this SpriteFont Inspecting the SpriteFont in the IDE at that breakpoint shows the € symbol is in there. I'm at a loss at what could be wrong. Why is this exception thrown?

• Google Blogger Website CName and/or Text File Issues

  I have a blogger Blog website and I would like to have it show up on my company website. I have read a couple articles out there on how to do it. A hand full of them talk about using FTP which is old and no longer available. However, I am trying to following along with this one: http://www.infinite42.com/small-business/integrate-blogger-blog-website Which seems pretty easy but I am having a problem getting Google to Verify the DNS CName or Text Record that I created on my Windows 2007 Server. Do I need to create this record at the registra level. Right now the domain is setup at the registra to point the www record to my server where on my server I tried the Txt Record and the CName Record with no luck in DNS. Here are the Google instructions for creating a CName file record in DNS: Follow the steps below to create a DNS (Domain Name System) record that proves to Google that you own the domain. Add the CNAME record below to the DNS configuration for abc.com. CNAME Label / Host: CNAME Destination / Target: Click Verify below. When Google finds this DNS record, we'll make you a verified owner of the domain. (Note: DNS changes may take some time. If we don't find the record immediately, we'll check for it periodically.) To stay verified, don't remove the DNS record, even after verification succeeds. • Preventing Users From Copying Text From and Pasting It Into TextBoxes

  Many websites that support user accounts require users to enter an email address as part of the registration process. This email address is then used as the primary communication channel with the user. For instance, if the user forgets her password a new one can be generated and emailed to the address on file. But what if, when registering, a user enters an incorrect email address? Perhaps the user meant to enter [email protected], but accidentally transposed the first two letters, entering [email protected]. How can such typos be prevented? The only foolproof way to ensure that the user's entered email address is valid is to send them a validation email upon registering that includes a link that, when visited, activates their account. (This technique is discussed in detail in Examining ASP.NET's Membership, Roles, and Profile - Part 11.) The downside to using a validation email is that it adds one more step to the registration process, which will cause some people to bail out on the registration process. A simpler approach to lessening email entry errors is to have the user enter their email address twice, just like how most registration forms prompt users to enter their password twice. In fact, you may have seen registration pages that do just this. However, when I encounter such a registration page I usually avoid entering the email address twice, but instead enter it once and then copy and paste it from the first textbox into the second. This behavior circumvents the purpose of the two textboxes - any typo entered into the first textbox will be copied into the second. Using a bit of JavaScript it is possible to prevent most users from copying text from one textbox and pasting it into another, thereby requiring the user to type their email address into both textboxes. • Help parsing long (3.5mil lines) text file, line by line and storing data, need a strategy

  This is a question about solving a particular problem I am struggling with, I am parsing a long list of text data, line by line for a business app in PHP (cron script on the CLI). The file follows the format: HD: Some text here {text here too} DC: A description here DC: the description continues here DC: and it ends here. DT: 2012-08-01 HD: Next header here {supplemental text} ... this repeats over and over for a few hundred megs I have to read each line, parse out the HD: line and grab the text on this line. I then compare this text against data stored in a database. When a match is found, I want to then record the following DC: lines that succeed the matched HD:. Pseudo code: while ( the_file_pointer_isnt_end_of_file) { line = getCurrentLineFromFile title = parseTitleFrom(line) matched = searchForMatchInDB(line) if ( matched ) { recordTheDCLines // <- Best way to do this? } } My problem is that because I am reading line by line, what is the best way to trigger the script to start saving DC lines, and then when they are finished save them to the database? • Ubuntu Server 11.10 boot, white terminal with garbled black text

  I just installed Ubuntu server 11.10 and the install went fine. This system is running on an Intel Pentium II board with onboard graphics. However when I try to boot into Ubuntu I get a white terminal with garbled black text. I have tried various grub 'fixes' as googling the issue seemed to suggest it was a res or grub related issue. I cannot ssh in so the issue does affect Linux as well. I have had no luck with anything thus far and am at my wits end. This was my first Ubuntu excursion as my friend told me it was better for servers than CentOS because it was easier... Not so much.... Does anyone have any ideas as to what the issue could be? When answering bear in mind I am an Ubuntu noob and Linux novice. As of 1/26/12 I have tried to add the console=ttyl line to the /etc/default/grub and run update-grub. This results in the line in the boot parameters that normally reads: linux /vmlunz-3.0.0-12-generic-pae root=/dev/mapper/dev-root rovt.handoff=7 now reads: linux /vmlunz-3.0.0-12-generic-pae root=/dev/mapper/dev-root ro console=ttyl vt.handoff=7 This does not work. Is there anyway to have console=ttyl inserted on a line by itself? I am at my wits ends, Thanks for all your help, Speed

  I am using the following code to calculate text to code ratio. I think it is crazy that no one can agree on how to properly calculate the result. • "bug" in C++11 text by Stroustrup?

  I found an apparent contradiction in the c++ text having to do with the result of the c_str() function operating on std:strings (in my copy, the definition and contradiction are on p1040). First it defines the c_str() function as something that produces a 'C-style' (zero-terminated) string, but later it talks about how a C++ c_str value can have embed a 'C'-style, end-of-string terminators (i.e. NUL's) embedded in the string (that is defined by being NUL terminated). Um... does anyone else feel that this is a 'stretching' of the definition of a C-string beyond it's definition? I.e. I think what it means, is that if you were to look at the length() function as applied to the string, it will show a different end of string than using the C-definition of a z-string -- one that can contain any character except NUL, and is terminated by NUL. I likely don't have to worry about it in my of my programs, but it seems like a subtle distinction that makes a C++ c_str, not really a 'C'-string. Am I misunderstanding this issue? Thanks!

• Overlapping text on top menu in Unity 12.04

  So I'm new to Linux but am basically blown away by Ubuntu 12.04 and could definitely see this becoming my main desktop over time One small annoyance for me is a tendency for the global menu on the top bar to partially over-write the text description of the active window in the top panel. e.g. I focus on the "Ubuntu Software Centre" window which writes out that label in the leftmost corner of the top menu bar. If I then move the cursor up to the top menu bar to access the "file menu", this will partially overwrite the window name leaving just "Ubuntu" visible. This is a little slice of ugliness I don't want to see every day! Much easier on the eye for me would be to display the active window name at the centre of the top panel, using some of that free space and then have the global menu stay where it is, just to the right of the app launcher. I've found a solution to disable the global menu but I would prefer to keep it and instead move (or disable) the active window name in the top panel. Any way to do this?

  Hello all, I'm trying to parse some returned html to look for currently playing movies. The pattern I'm trying to match looks like: <span dir=ltr>Clash of the Titans</span> Of which there are several in the returned html. (the html is huge, I've posted a sample at the bottom) I'm trying get an array of the movie titles with the following command: titles = listings_html.split(/(<span dir=ltr>).*(<\/span>)/) But I'm not getting the results I'm expecting. Can anyone see a problem with my approach or regex?   I am trying to have a tablelayout contains several tablerows. One of the rows contains 4 buttons, while the second row contains a very long text. However, the width of the button stretches with the text in the second row.   I would like to add new lines of text to my UITextView for my iPhone app. Basically my textview starts with a single line, and as app advances, new lines are added. However I can add only to the end or beginning of the existing text. How can I make such an entry into a new line. Can I manually send \n to the textview.text at a calculated range/location.   I have to do a Windows application that from times to times access a Gmail account and checks if there is a new email. In case there is, it must read the email body and subject (a simple text email, without images or attachments). Please, do not use paid libs, and in case of any other libs used, give the download path. And I need the email body and subject only. So if the long and complex message that comes from Gmail could be parsed and only two strings containing the subject and the body, it would be perfect. Finally, I only have to get the new messages arrived since the last execution. So the read messages could be marked as "read" and only the new ones (marked as "new") are considered. The code can be written in Python or C++, but I prefer it in C#. Thank you for the help.

  I am using the p tag to align text left and right on the same line using: .left { float: left; text-indent: 5px; margin-top: 0px; } .right { float: right; text-indent: 5px; margin-top: 0px; } <div id="content"> <p class="left">Left Text </p> <p class="right">Right Text </p> </div> The left text will indent by 5 pixels, the right text will not. I have tried -5px and just 5px, any ideas how I could do this? Thanks

RSS 2.0 file is supposed to be UTF8 encoded according to encoding attribute in XML file. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> So when I download URLs content I get text truncated after first occurance of char with diacritics, example: l š c t ž ý á í é, etc. I tried to solve the problem by downloading URL as UTF8 string, I used this code: NSString *rssXmlString = [NSString stringWithContentsOfURL: [NSURL URLWithString: @"http://www.macblog.sk/rss.xml"] encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding error: nil]; NSData *rssXmlData = [rssXmlString dataUsingEncoding: NSUTF8StringEncoding]; Did not help.   I have a NSTextField Label that has attributed text in it. The color and size are different from the defaults. (The text is a bit larger and green) Now, I need to be able to select the text in the label so as the click the hyperlinks embedded in the attributed text. This works fine; however, when selecting the text the format of the text reverts back to the defaults (a smaller, black font). Is there anyway to stop this behavior so that my styling is preserved when the user clicks (selects text) on a Label?
