  • how to use XML sent by html form?

    - by user32167
i have html form with textarea in which i paste some XML, for example: <network ip_addr="10.0.0.0/8" save_ip="true"> <subnet interf_used="200" name="lan1" /> <subnet interf_used="254" name="lan2" /> </network> When user submit form, that data is send to Java server, so in headers i get something like that: GET /?we=%3Cnetwork+ip_addr%3D%2210.0.0.0%2F8%22+save_ip%3D%22true%22%3E%0D%0A%3Csubnet+interf_used%3D%22200%22+name%3D%22lan1%22+%2F%3E%0D%0A%3Csubnet+interf_used%3D%22254%22+name%3D%22lan2%22+%2F%3E%0D%0A%3C%2Fnetwork%3E HTTP/1.1 how can i use that in my Java applications? I need to make some calculations on that data and re-send new generated XML.

  • Storing i18n data in a database using XML

    - by TigrouMeow
Hello, I may have to store some i18n-ed data in my database using XML if I don't fight back. That's not my choice, but it's in the specifications I have to follow. We would have, by example, something like following in a 'Country' column: <lang='fr'>Etats-Unis</lang> <lang='en'>United States</lang> This would apply to many columns in the database. I don't think it's a good idea at all. I tend to think that a cell in a database should represent a single piece of data (better for look-up), and that the database should have two dimensions maximum and not 3 or more (one request more would be required per dimension / a dimension here would be equal to the number of XML attributes). My idea was to have a separate table for all the translations, with columns such as : ID / Language / Translation. However, I should admit that I'm really not sure what is the best way to store data in various languages in a DB... Thanks for your advices :)

  • Store web content in XML using wiki markup

    - by Mike
Does anyone have an XML style sheet that'll convert wiki-like markup to HTML? Or is that a bad idea? I only found one style sheet that'll convert HTML to wiki-like markup, view-source:http://mozile.mozdev.org/0.8/demos/html2wiki.xsl . Or is this a bad idea? Basically, instead of following strict rules with my XML tags to format my content, I thought it'd be best to have something like this: <content> \## This is my heading </content> That way I'm free to display my content however I feel without having to modify my style sheet. Any ideas?

  • How to read XML parent node tag value

    - by kaibuki
HI Guys, I have a java code to read XML nodes, I want to add in the addition and want to read the parent node value also. my XML file sample is below: <breakfast_menu><food id=1><name> Belgian Waffles </name><price> $5.95 </price><description> two of our famous Belgian Waffles with plenty of real maple syrup </description><calories> 650 </calories></food><food id=2><name>Strawberry Belgian waffles</name><price>$7.95</price><description>light Belgian waffles covered with strawberries and whipped cream</description><calories>900</calories></food></breakfast_menu> and my code for parsing xml is : public static String getProductItem(String pid, String item) { try { url = new URL(""); urlConnection = url.openConnection(); } catch (MalformedURLException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { } try { dBuilder = dbFactory.newDocumentBuilder(); } catch (ParserConfigurationException e) { } try { doc = dBuilder.parse(urlConnection.getInputStream()); } catch (SAXException e) { } catch (IOException e) { } doc.getDocumentElement().normalize(); NodeList nList = doc.getElementsByTagName("food"); for (int temp = 0; temp < nList.getLength(); temp++) { Node nNode = nList.item(temp); if (nNode.getNodeType() == Node.ELEMENT_NODE) { Element eElement = (Element) nNode; data = getTagValue(item, eElement); } } doc = null; dBuilder = null; return data; } private static String getTagValue(String sTag, Element eElement) { NodeList nlList = eElement.getElementsByTagName(sTag).item(0) .getChildNodes(); Node nValue = (Node) nlList.item(0); return nValue.getNodeValue(); } What I want to do is to read the "id" value of food, so if if I am searching for a food, it only checks those food nodes, whose id matched the food node id. thanks in advance. cheers.. kai

  • possible to recreate xml out of ActionScript?

    - by Andy
Hi, I got stuck with an SWF which has ActionScript in it and should use some xml. The problem is, I cannot edit the SWF by decompiling it and compile it again, it simply doesn't work... Adobe Flash CS4 rebuilds the thing, but after I press CTRL+ENTER I get a lot of runtime errors (probably something to do with AS <- AS2 <- AS3 and don't know how to fix that). So the question is: can I reconstruct how the xml should look like? I am able to view all the actionscript code with Flash Decompiler Gold and ain't gettin much smarter. Maybe I could post the code if someone desire it. thanks

  • XML structure question

    - by Andrew Jahn
    I have a basic XML object that I'm working with. I can't figure out how to access the parts of it. EX:<br> <pre><code> < FacetsData> < Collection name="CDDLALL" type="Group"> < SubCollection name="CDDLALL" type="Row"> < Column name="DPDP_ID">D0230< /Column> < Column name="Count">9< /Column> < /SubCollection> < SubCollection name="CDDLALL" type="Row"> < Column name="DPDP_ID">D1110< /Column> < Column name="Count">9< /Column> < /SubCollection> < /Collection> < /FacetsData> (PS: I can't get this damn xml to format so people can read it) What I need to do is check each DPDP_ID and if its value is D0230 then I leave the Count alone, all else I change the Count to 1. What I have so far: node = doc.DocumentElement; nodeList = node.SelectNodes("/FacetsData/Collection/SubCollection"); for (int x = 0; x < nodeList.Count; x++) { if (nodeList[x].HasChildNodes) { for (int i = 0; i < nodeList[x].ChildNodes.Count; i++) { //This part I can't figure out how to get the name="" part of the xml //MessageBox.Show(oNodeList[x].ChildNodes[i].InnerText); get the "D0230","1" //part but not the "DPDP_ID","Count" part. } } }

  • How to remove not required Elements from generated XML via jaxb

    - by Dangling Piyush
    I want to know if there is anyway for removing not required elements from generated xml using jaxb.I have my xsd element definition as follows. <xsd:element name="Title" maxOccurs="1" minOccurs="0"> <xsd:annotation> <xsd:documentation> A name given to the digital record. </xsd:documentation> </xsd:annotation> <xsd:simpleType> <xsd:restriction base="xsd:string"> <xsd:minLength value="1"></xsd:minLength> </xsd:restriction> </xsd:simpleType> </xsd:element> As you can see it is not a mandatory element because minOccurs="0" But if it is not empty the length should be 1. <xsd:minLength value="1"></xsd:minLength> At the time of marshalling if I left the Title field blank it is throwing the SAXException because of min-length restriction. So what I want to do is to remove the whole occurrence of <Title/> from generated XML.Right now i have removed the min-length restriction so it is adding the <Title> element as EMPTY <Title></Title> But I do not want it like this.Any help is appreciated.I am using jaxb 2.0 for Marshalling. UPDATE: Following is my variable definiton : private JAXBContext jaxbContext; private Unmarshaller unmarshaller; private SchemaFactory factory; private Schema schema; private Marshaller marshaller; Marshalling code. jaxbContext = JAXBContext.newInstance(ERecordType.class); marshaller = jaxbContext.createMarshaller(); factory = SchemaFactory.newInstance(XMLConstants.W3C_XML_SCHEMA_NS_URI); schema = factory.newSchema((new File(xsdLocation))); marshaller.setProperty(Marshaller.JAXB_FORMATTED_OUTPUT, true); ERecordType e = new ERecordType(); e.setCataloging(rc); /** * Validate Against Schema. */ marshaller.setSchema(schema); /** * Marshal will throw an exception if XML not validated against * schema. */ marshaller.marshal(e, System.out);

  • Can Qt's QWebView display programatically generated XML?

    - by Dan Ellis
Using Qt 4.6, I can dynamically add to an HTML page like this: ui->webView->page()->mainFrame()->documentElement().findFirst("body").appendInside("<i>some text</i>\n"); However, if I QWebView::load() an XML file, it displays it with the correct CSS styling (from an processing instruction), but doesn't show any changes when I do something like: ui->webView->page()->mainFrame()->documentElement().findFirst("lines").appendInside("<line>hello</line>\n"); Why is it treating them differently, and is there a way to modify an XML document in the same way I can an HTML one?

  • remove parent xml tag

    - by cru3l
For example, we have xml file with this format: <A> <B> <C></C> <D></D> <D></D> </B> </A> i need that: if all "D"-tags elements are empty, then we need to delete whole "A"-tag element and, of course, we need to do this with all "A"-tags in xml.

  • Using GWT to output XML, JSON and regular HTML

    - by Artem
Sorry, this is a very basic question, as we are just getting started with exploring GWT. We would like to know if it's easy and possible to get GWT to "output" XML, JSON and regular HTML. I would like to know this because ideally we would port parts of our backends over slowly, and it would be nice to drop in GWT in place of AJAX wherever we need it during the transition period. Places that we would like to be able to use: 1) We have a pure XML page that we return to our client (mobile) app and right now this is handled through Spring MVC with a nice template. What's the best replacement for this? 2) We have a regular AJAX page that makes async requests and expects replies in JSON. Can we easily replace this backend? 3) We have some regular webpages where we use templates to output them, and we would like to first switch them over in the simplest possible way, without converting them to the regular GWT UI framework. Thanks!

  • Regexp to add attribute in any xml tags

    - by katsuo11
Hello, I have well-formed xml documents into string variables. I want to use preg_replace to add a defined attribute to every xml tags. For example replace: <tag1> <tag2> some text </tag2> </tag1> by: <tag1 attr="myAttr"> <tag2 attr="myAttr"> some text </tag2> </tag1> So I basically need the regex expression to find any start tags and add my attribute, but I'm a complete regex noob. Thanks, kats

  • XML DOM Manipuation

    - by kunalsawlani
Hi, I am new to XML and have been trying some simple examples and they work fine. I want to do something like the following, but I am not able to figure out how to go about doing this. I have a HTML web page, where the user types in some data in an input field. I want to take that data, parse it to create an XML string, and the apply XSLT transformation to it, and display the result back on the page. All this needs to be done on the client browser, with JavaScript. If some one could point out the steps or the general procedure to go about doing this, it would be great. I have been looking over the net, but the information is so vast, that I have not been able to locate exactly what I need. Thanks

  • How to create and download an XML without storing it on the server

    - by CiccioMiami
NET Web Forms** application. I would like to create a download link to make available to the user the possibility to download an XML file. However the file does not have to be stored on the server. In my aspx file I have the download link (placed inside a GridView): <asp:HyperLinField Text="Download" DataNavigateUrlFormatString="download.aspx?ProductId={0}" DataNavigateUrlFields="ProductId"> In the download.aspx.vb page: Dim productId As String = Request.QueryString("productId") Dim xmlDoc As String = _ProductServices.GetXmlDocPerId(productId) Dim xdoc As XmlDocument = New XmlDocument() xdoc.LoadXml(xmlLicense) Now I would like to create a file, place the XML content inside and deliver it to the user without saving it to the server. Shall I use a MemoryStream combined with a StreamReader?

  • XML Parsing in Groovy strips attribute new lines

    - by Bill James
I'm writing code where I retrieve XML from a web api, then parse that XML using Groovy. Unfortunately, it seems that both XmlParser and XmlSlurper for Groovy strip newline characters from the attributes of nodes when .text() is called. How can I get at the text of the attribute including the newlines? Sample code: def xmltest = ''' <snippet> <preSnippet att1="testatt1" code="This is line 1 This is line 2 This is line 3" > <lines count="10" /> </preSnippet> </snippet>''' def parsed = new XmlParser().parseText( xmltest ) println "Parsed" parsed.preSnippet.each { pre -> println pre.attribute('code'); } def slurped = new XmlSlurper().parseText( xmltest ) println "Slurped" slurped.children().each { preSnip -> println [email protected]() } the output of which is: Parsed This is line 1 This is line 2 This is line 3 Slurped This is line 1 This is line 2 This is line 3
