• SQL Server CE - Internal error: Cannot open the shared memory region

  I have a SQL Server CE database that works fine in dev, but when installed on the client has an issue. The SQL Server CE 3.5 dependencies are copied as part of the deployment. The target machine is a clean Windows 7 32-bit Ultimate image. The message for the exception in the event log is: Internal error: Cannot open the shared memory region. It looks like this is SSCE_M_CANTOPENSHAREDMEMORY and the site says there isn't a connection string value to change this and that these issues are typically not resolvable by the end developers. Has anyone run into this, and if so were you able to resolve this issue?

• Requiring Multiple Roles in Web.config Authorization

  Is it possible to specify that multiple roles are required inside the authorization element of the web.config file? I currently have this block in one web.config of my site for a specific directory: <authorization> <allow roles="Global, Region" /> <deny users="*" /> </authorization> I've just identified a special case where a person with two lower-level permissions than Global and Region should also have access to this directory. Roughly, I want something like this: <authorization> <allow roles="GlobalManager, RegionManager, SiteManager && FooSite" /> <deny users="*" /> </authorization> Any ideas? I realize I probably should have a new role for this scenario, but I'd like to avoid that. Thanks!

• Mysql table comment increase length. Is this a bug?

  Hi, I read the mysql table lengths questions on stackoverflow on here: questions/391323/table-comment-length-in-mysql questions/2473934/how-to-increase-mysql-table-comments-length The first link suggests that it can be done and the second suggests it cannot. I don't know why there is this limitation as the comments are very useful. Imagine if there was a limit of 60 characters for your programs. I wrote about this on my site and have some snapshots to the phpmyadmin and Dbforge MySQL IDEs: http://mysql.tutorialref.com/mysql-table-comment-length-limit.html Is there a way to change this in phpmyadmin or perhaps even on the CLI? There is a bug commit report from MySQL on this particular problem (follow the link from the stackoverflow (first link). It seems to state that the length problem is fixed. I have MySQL 5.1.42. • Quick question on session security.

  Hey guys, I was scanning my site for security and I noticed that it was possible for non users to send requests and post information, so I decided to put login checks on all information posts. I was wondering if it was a good way to keep a session id that is created by md5(uniqid()); in a session variable $_SESSION['id']=md5(uniqid()); for each user and then store that in a database under active users for that user. Then when a user tries to insert information, verify that their $_SESSION['id'] variable is equal to the one in the database where the username equals their $_SESSION['username']. What are your ideas on this guys? Thanks in advance!

  We've got a new beta Recommendation Bar plugin at our www.booknik.ru web-site. It works perfect when people logged it is its administrator or developer and it's not when isn casual user without any special role. We tried to submit our read.article action, but it was denied with that: The built-in read.article you submitted doesn't meet our requirements (https://developers.facebook.com/docs/opengraph/actions/builtin/#read). Please make sure your users can remove articles they shared "within" your app on each page an article appears. Once you have made the appropriate changes please delete this action, create a new one, and submit it. As for that, our plugin users have the ability to delete their activity but Facebook doesn't allow us to make this plugin public. What should we do to make it work? Thanks a lot for your help!

  In my application, I have models that have the Users model as a Foreign key, eg: class Doctor(models.Model): username=models.ForeignKey(User, unique=True) ... In the admin site, when adding a new Doctor, I have the option of adding a new User next to the username field. This is exactly what I want, but in the dialog that opens, it asks for a username and password for the new user; I would also like to be able to assign a group to this new user. Is there a way to do this using plone.app.blob? Alternately, there are a few pointers on the web pointing to plone.namedfile to do this. plone.namedfile seems to rely on z3c.blobfile.   I have recently upgraded from TFS2005 to 2008, and in doing so, lost the connection to Sharepoint so now I cannot access my project portal from VSS or TFS Web. I have a working WSS 3.0 installation on the same server as TFS, and TFS is working fine other than the Sharepoint disconnect. I have even been able to go into Sharepoint and create a site for my project. The only thing left is to find the configuration item in TFS for my project that says, "Project portal is here...". Does anyone know where I might find this setting?

As I understand it, in a traditional java "website" a user provides a username & password, and upon validation a jsessionid is assigned to the user (client browser). Every time the client browser asks the website for something, the site checks for the jsessionid ensuring that the user is registered and authenticated. Is there a web services equivalent of this? If yes, what?

• SSL Login in iFrame

  My UI prototype requires me to show the sites login info all the time. Either I should show the usual username and password textbox or "you are logged in as". The last bit don't have to be secure, as it's only info to the user, nothing I will use server side. But the first part should send secure to the server. It seems that I would have to use https for all pages on the site then. I would like to only use ssl for the things that are required to be secure. One way is putting the login information into a https://../login.aspx and show it on my mainpage as an IFrame. One disadvantage I can see is that the user won't know that https is being used, unless they read the IFrame src in the source code. What do you think?

  I have received numerous calls from users lately, stating that they are not able to access the conference sites with IE7. These sites are created from a template, and they are managed on Joomla. Previously on other sites, there have no problems or complaints. However, with the recent complaints , I suspect that the culprit is my simple jQuery codes since the sites that have been reported have been created recently and incorporated with jQuery features. • Warning while downloading setup.exe builded by visual setup project

  I've built installer for my(c#, wpf) application by visual setup project. I share my project over internet by web site. But when I download the file I receive warning(actually looks like terrible error or virus) that the application(setup.exe) can harm my computer and apocalypse will come in near future if I will run it. Yes my installer is not signed by MS certificate, but I saw that other installers of others application also don't have cert but the warning is not shown(for instance installer of notepad++). Do you have any suggestions or solution of my problem?

• Migrating from CPython to Jython

  I'm considering moving my code (around 30K LOC) from CPython to Jython, so that I could have better integration with my java code. Is there a checklist or a guide I should look at, to help my with the migration? Does anyone have experience with doing something similar? From reading the Jython site, most of the problems seem too obscure to bother me. I did notice that: thread safety is an issue Unicode support seems to be quite different, which may be a problem for me mysqldb doesn't work and needs to be replaced with zxJDBC Anything else? I want to do something very very similar for a site I'm building. ShareThis offers a widget that does the same thing but it's branded and external. I'm looking for a pure Ruby solution. A gem containing a module that could be included in a Rails ApplicationHelper class would be perfect. Suggestions appreciated before I go reinventing the wheel!

  A Book showed an example where ( when using IIS7 ) the following module was configured such that it would be used by any web application ( even by non-asp.net apps ) running on a web site. But: A) if this module is invoked for non-asp.net application, then how or why would HttpApplication object still be created, since non-asp.net apps don’t run in the context of CLR ( and thus Asp.Net runtime also won’t run )? b) Assuming HttpApplication object is also created for non-asp.net apps, why then does the code inside Init() event handler have to check for whether HttpApplication object actually exists? Why wouldn’t it exist? Isn’t this HttpApplication object which actually instantiates Http module instance? • Why does Sitecore throw a NullReferenceException exception when I redirect to one of its pages?

  I'm running Sitecore 6.1 on Windows 2008, IIS7, and I'm trying to use the URL Rewrite Module to do a redirect. When I enable the rule and hit the URL that triggers it, I get a YSOD. The same rule works perfectly on a non-sitecore site on the same machine. According to the Failed Request Trace, the rewrite module does its thing just fine, but then Sitecore throws an exception, even if the redirect points to another server. This is probably a result of something I have misconfigured, but I just can't understand why it doesn't work. The details from the YSOD are below. • Can I disable DataAnnotations validation on DefaultModelBinder?

  I want DefaultModelBinder not to perform any validation based on DataAnnotations metadata. I'm already using DataAnnotations with DynamicData for the admin area of my site, and I need a different set of validation rules for the MVC based front-end. I'm decorating my classes with the MetadataType attribute. If I could have different MetadataType classes for the same model but used on different scenarios that would be great. If not I'm fine with just disabling the validation on the DefaultModelBinder, either by setting some property or by creating a specialized version of it.

• Yahoo flagging mail as spam when using relay server

  I'm using Postfix to relay mail from my site to my mail server. Mail is received properly at my Gmail and Hotmail accounts - only Yahoo is the problem. The Yahoo mail headers state: Received-SPF: none (mta1133.mail.mud.yahoo.com: domain of [email protected] does not designate permitted sender hosts) In contrast, the Gmail headers state: Received-SPF: pass (google.com: domain of [email protected] designates 74.50.xxx.xxx as permitted sender) client-ip=74.50.xxx.xxx; Reverse DNS is set up correctly, as is my SPF record. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to solve the Yahoo problem (short of contacting Yahoo, as this is a brand new mail server)? FYI - I just set up domainkeys, but I'm not sure whether they should be on the origin or relay server. Thanks
