• Untar multiple files in different directories

  Hi, am trying to perform an update on multiple site that use an open source CMS but untaring a patch file in each sites httpdocs directory. My plan was to perform a find for the patch file then untar using the following command: find . -name "patchfile.tar.gz" -exec tar -xzvf {} \; -print but it doesnt seem to work successfully anyone have any ideas as to why not?   I have a laptop I use for home and work. I like to keep them separate as best I can, and it's not very endearing to my clients to sit down in a meeting with them, crack open my start menu, and have WoW at the top of the list. Is there a way to "ban" a program from this list so that--no matter how much I use it--it will never pop in there again?

• Subversion Permission Denied when adding or committing

  Hi guys I am running subversion 1.4 on Centos 5.2 and my clients are using tortoise to do their check out, commit etc. I think I have permissions problems but I have configured the folder to accessible to everyone with 777 attribute but I seem not to be getting anywhere. Its generating this error on tortoise "svn: Can't open file 'PATH/TO/MY/FILES/entries': Permission denied". Some guy was suggesting some indexing software installed on the client machine like google desktop, any suggestions?

  Hi, I am working for a project on disaster management sponsered by World Bank, under this project i have assigned work on CMS. and my senior has asked me to make a ASP.NET webpage where those logged with administrator privilege will be able to edit the page. like:- <div id="mydiv"><pre>+++++++MY CONTENT+++++++++++++++++++</pre></div> now if if the admin clicks on mydiv he should be able to edit the pre contents. for this i got many options such as WYSIWYG editors (but they work on textboxs only and further more they cant save the data back to server replacing the previous content) then I came to know about Webparts , but its editing capabilities was so low that my plan for implementing a WYSIWYG editor went in vain. so I m seeking help from u all is their any way to achieve the motive, it would be better if u can suggest something like incorporating WYSIWYG into webpartmanager editor... • Is it safe to swap SATA ports during hibernation?

  I hibernated my Windows 7 desktop PC, replaced the SATA cables of my 2 hard drives (without paying attention to which ports they were connected), and resumed the system. Everything appeared normal and it entered the desktop with all the applications previously open before hibernation. However, after a few seconds, the screen became frozen and the system no longer responded to anything (mouse/keyboard/network ping). Does anyone have a definitive answer on whether changing SATA ports of the HDDs during hibernation would crash a Windows 7 system?

  Hi, I have to complete a timer on powerpoint, it countsdown for a specificed amount of time when a shape on particular slide is clicked. I heard macros could be a way to do this, but I have very little knowledge about them. With my research I was able to add a macro and pop out a message box when a shape is clicked*. How can I implement a timer with this? VB syntax is pretty unfamiliar to me.   So, is there a VERY simple library that will render JSON objects as trees? I know that this can be done in many ways (such as YUI), but for debug purposes I'd like to simply be able to view a JSON objects I receive from a server as a tree, nothing fancy (but collapsable tree's would be a bonus). • scp stalls and ssh sessions freeze up (but eventually start again)

  I am running ubuntu on various computers on a home wireless network. Some are on 9.04x64, some 10.04x64 and one 9.04x32. Running scp with a large file starts out at 2.1 mbps and drops down to about 200k, stalling and dropping until the transfer is complete. I've noticed this when I have a secure shell open on any of these servers as well. I have tried this with 2 different routers, both brand new, different brands.

• Windows TCP timeout

  Is there on windows any default timeout for tcp connection? So when no answere is received the connection would be closed. Why im asking is that on one machine the connection is closed afther 5 minutes.(Windows XP) Running the same client - server connection on other machine the connection is kept open forever like it should be. Or maybe there is some global java virtual machine setting somewhere i should know about? The server and client run on the same local machine

• How do I minimize Evolution to the system tray in Ubuntu?

  In Ubuntu some applications can be set to minimize instead of exit on close. For example, Empathy minimizes to the system tray (mail icon) when the close button is pressed in the application window. How do I make Evolution do this as well? Essentially I would like to have Evolution hidden in the system tray instead of having to re-launch it every ten minutes to check for new messages (or leave it open and clutter the taskbar).

  I have the following code snippet. This is a c file in visual studio 2010. If i try to compile this with the line: int hello = 10; commented out it will compile just fine. If I comment that line in it will not compile. Am I missing something or should I not be using Visual Studio 2010 to compile C code. If this is a Visual Studio problem can anyone recommend a easy to use IDE / Compiler that I can for C. • Are spinlocks a good choice for a memory allocator?

  I've suggested to the maintainers of the D programming language runtime a few times that the memory allocator/garbage collector should use spinlocks instead of regular OS critical sections. This hasn't really caught on. Here are the reasons I think spinlocks would be better: At least in synthetic benchmarks that I did, it's several times faster than OS critical sections when there's contention for the memory allocator/GC lock. Edit: Empirically, using spinlocks didn't even have measurable overhead in a single-core environment, probably because locks need to be held for such a short period of time in a memory allocator. Memory allocations and similar operations usually take a small fraction of a timeslice, and even a small fraction of the time a context switch takes, making it silly to context switch in the case of contention. A garbage collection in the implementation in question stops the world anyhow. There won't be any spinning during a collection. Are there any good reasons not to use spinlocks in a memory allocator/garbage collector implementation?

However, its construct analogous to switch is called match: match (x) { | "Hello World" => ... | _ => ... } Is it possible to get the cinoptions for switch statements to apply to this construct, instead? Maybe there is a regular expression I can set somewhere. If not, can I get the vertical bars to align with the braces another way?

• Objective C: Can't find .js file in my mainBundle?!

  This is driving me crazy as I cannot figure out what in the world is going on. I load up files form you main bundle all the time, xml files, html files, etc. But, now I am trying to get the contents of a javascript file but it can never find it. I am using: NSData *jsData = [NSData dataWithContentsOfFile:[[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"global" ofType:@"js"]]; if (jsData) { NSLog(@"%@", jsData); } else { NSLog(@"Can't find file"); return; } Even checking the [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"global" ofType:@"js"] string returns null. My activity.js file is in my Resources folder, the exact location where my other files are location that work totally fine using the above method. Why can't it find my js file?

  OS: windows server 2003 When open explore and enter \192.168.1.xxx\c$ and prompt to ask login id and password, where does this login info save to? And even if I choose not to save, seems the session will still remain until reboot? Can the community please suggestion some keyword to this and explain how it works a bit? Thanks.

  I am in a quite unusual family situation. For the next two years, I have to stay at home where the only post-secondary institution available is a community college. After two years, I will have to start earning a living. I do not really have any real-world programming experience to put on my résumé. I did some not-too-advanced work in PHP for family and friends, and I’m pretty sure that I want to program for a living. I have been working on an A.S. Degree in Computer Programming and Analysis since fall. My question regarding the degree is: is it worth anything to potential employers or am I just wasting my time? Is there a better way to spend the oncoming two years? If I could get an internship and some experience, would that hold more weight than a two-year degree without experience?

• How to stop jQuery from returning tabs and spaces from formated code on .html() .val() .text() etc.

  I've got an html table: <table><tr> <td>M1</td> <td>M2</td> <td>M3</td> <td>M4</td> </tr></table> and a simple jQ script: $('td').click(function(){ alert( $(this).html() ); }); That works just fine.... but in the real world, I've got several hundred table cells and the code is formatted improperly in places because of several people editing the page. So if the html is: <td> M1 </td> then the alert() is giving me all the tabs and returns and spaces: What can I do to get ONLY the text without the tabs and spaces? I've tried .html(), .val(), .text() to no avail. Thanks!

• C++ online Role Playing Game (RPG)

  So I've been learning C++ and SDL to make some basic 2d games. I want to create a game sort of like World of Warcraft but a 2D version. I want it to be on-line and use a database or something to start data like amount of Gold, HP, etc. I was wondering though, if I do this in SDL, would it still work on-line or would the user have to download SDL themselves to play? I just want a game like this but be able to play it with some friends, just for learning purposes you know. I was also looking at DirectX because everyone has that on windows pretty much. • Problem running Chrome from Start->Run

  When I hit Start-Run and type "Chrome", nothing happens (no new "chrome.exe" process is launched, not error, nothing). When I hit Start (without "Run"), type Chrome and run it, it works. How do I find what shortcut is run via Start-Run ? When I open a command prompt and write "Chrome.exe", it doesn't recognize it as an executable program.

• How to represent datetime of different time zomes in C#

  I have a .NET WebService (written in C#), that is supposed to serve people around the world. With each request I get the user's datetime in his own time zone with the format : yyyy/MM/dd HH:mm ZZZZ. I have to convert the string to something representing the original date and time and specifying the time zone in GMT. I have to make some logical calculations and keep it in the database. The regular DateTime doe's not support this. it does not have a property specifying the time zone. When I try to convert my string into DateTime - it simply converts it to my local time. I do not want to keep my time in UTC, because I have some logic that has to run per user by his own time. Does anyone know a C# class that handles this?
