• .NET COM Interop with references to other libraries

  Hello,I'm up against a problem when loading a class in a managed library from a COM Interop library. basically I have some Unmanaged C++ code and a COM Interop library written in C#. And finally a 3rd library which is referenced by the COM Interop library which contains a class: public class MyClass{ public MyClass(){} } What I'd like to do is from my unmanaged c++ code, call a function in the Interop library The C++ code doesn't need to know of the existence of the third library, it's only used within the Interop. Init(){ MyClass _class = new MyClass(); } for some reason this line in Init fails "MyClass _class = new MyClass();", and I don't get very usefull error messages, all I have to go on is a few of these in my output window: "First-chance exception at 0x7c812afb in DotNet_Com_Call.exe: Microsoft C++ exception: [rethrow] at memory location 0x00000000.." and the HRESULT of the "HRESULT hr = pDotNetCOMPtr-Init();" line in my C++ code is "The system cannot find the specified file" I'm new to COM so if anyone has any ideas or pointer to get me going the right direction, I'd appreciate it, Thanks

  Im having trouble with a web application that will deadlock occasionally There are 3 queries involved. 2 are trying to update a table UPDATE AttendanceRoll SET ErrorFlag = 0 WHERE ContractID = @ContractID AND DATEPART(month,AttendanceDate) = DATEPART(month,@Month_Beginning) AND DATEPART(year,AttendanceDate) = DATEPART(year,@Month_Beginning) and one is trying to insert into the table INSERT INTO AttendanceRoll (AttendanceDate, ContractID, PersonID, StartTime, EndTime, Hours, AbsenceReason, UpdateCount, SplitShiftID, ModifiedBy, ModifiedDate) SELECT @P33, @P34, @P35, CONVERT(datetime,REPLACE( @P36 ,&apos;.&apos;,&apos;:&apos;)), CONVERT(datetime,REPLACE( @P37 ,&apos;.&apos;,&apos;:&apos;)), @P38, @P39, @P40, 1, @P41, GETDATE() The deadlock graph shows a kind of circular arangement of page locks and an exchange event and the 2 update queries have the same server process id.   Hi guys - i was hopefully after some tips opposed to solutions as this is homework and i want to solve it myself I am firstly very new to C. In fact i have never done any before, though i have previous java experience from modules at university. I am trying to write a programme that converts a single integer in to binary. I am only allowed to use bitwise operations and no library functions Can anyone possibly suggest some ideas about how i would go about doing this. • Store and retrieve images from file system instead of database

  Hi I need a place to store images. My first thought was to use the database, but many seems to recommend using the filesystem. This seems to fit my case, but how do I implement it? The filenames need to be unique, how to do that. Should I use a guid? How to retrieve the files, should I go directly to the database using the filename, make a aspx page and passing either filename or primary key as a querystring and then read the file. What about client side caching, is that enabled when using a page like image.aspx?id=123 ? How do I delete the files, when the associated record is deleted? I guess there are many other things that I still haven't thought about. Links, samples and guidelines are very welcome!

• jQuery scrollTop not working in chrome but working in Firefox

  I have used a scrollTop function in jquery for navigating to top. But strangely 'The smooth animated scroll' stopped working in safari and chrome(scrolling without smooth animation) after I made some changes. But it is working smoothly in Firefox. What could be wrong? • 404 Error - HEAD request on default page

  I am working on a project where we are about to go to internal release. So we are working to clean up the small problems before then. I was looking at our logs and noticed a high number of 404 errors. On further inspection it seems that all of them are related to HEAD requests. I haven't been able to find any substantive information about the preferred method for handling this in a standards compliant manner. Is there anything out there that can point out the proper way to handle that.

• Rack rSpec Controller Tests with Rack Middleware issue

  Howdy, I'm having big trouble testing with rSpec's controller API. Right now I'm using a middleware authentication solution (Warden), and when I run the specs, the proxy added by the middleware is not there, and all the authentication tests are throwing NilPointerExceptions all over the place. It seems rSpec is not adding the middleware to the final app on purpose, and I would like to know if there is a way to monkey patch rSpec in order to make that go. I already tested the whole thing with cucumber, however this is a refactoring of an old authentication version and there is several Controller tests that depend on authentication logic in order to work. • Splitting android application in to two 'branches', free and paid.

  I've developed an android-application that I'dd like to put up on the marketplace. However, I want to split it into two separate applications, one free (with ads), and one paid (logically without ads). How would I go about doing that? I'm not wondering about adding ads (I've alreaddy managed that), but how to take one existing android-application (eclipse-project) and split it into two without having to create a new project and just copy-paste every file one by one (or in batch for that matter). Is that possible? Btw, I use GIT for SCM, so I've made two separate branches, one master and one free, but I need to set some cind of config-value that makes shure that the market separates them as two different applications. Also, when a user 'upgrades', is it possible to copy the db from the free app to the paid one?

The only two problems I see are: Potentially large call stack, since calculating Fibonacci<2 requires we go through TableMax all the way to 2, and: If the value is outside of the table, it returns zero as opposed to calculating it. So is there something I am missing? It seems there should be a better way to pick out these values at runtime. A template metaprogramming version of a switch statement perhaps, that generates a switch statement up to a certain number? Thanks in advance.

• "Randomly" occurring errors...

  Hi, My website has a setup whereby when the application starts a module called SiteContent is "created". This runs a clearup function which basically deletes any irrelevant data from the database, in case any has been left in there from previously run functions. The module has instances of Manager classes - namely RangeManager, CollectionManager, DesignManager. There are others but I will just use these as an example. Each Manager class contains an array of items - items may be of type Range, Collection or Design, whichever one is relevant. Data for each range is then read into an instance of Range, Collection or Design. I know this is basically duplicating data - not very efficient but its my final year project at the moment so I can always change it to use Linq or something similar later, when I am not pressured by the one month deadline. I have a form which, on clicking the Save button, saves data by calling SiteContent.RangeManager.Create(vars) or SiteContent.RangeManager.Update(Range As Range, vars) (or the equivalent for other manager classes, whichever one happens to be relevant). These functions call a stored procedure to insert or update in the relevant table. Classes Range, Collection and Design all have attributes such as Name, Description, Display and several others. When the Create or Update function is called, the Manager loops through all the other items to check if an item with the same name already exists. The Update function ensures that it does not compare the item being updated to itself. A custom exception (ItemAlreadyExistsException) is thrown if another item with the same name is found. For some weird reason, if I go into a Range, Collection or Design in edit mode, change something and try to update it, it occasionally doesnt update the item. When I say occasionally I mean every 3 - 4 page loads, sometimes more. I see absolutely no pattern in when or why it occurs. I have a try-catch statement which catches ItemAlreadyExistsException, and outputs "An item with this name already exists" when caught. Occasionally it will output this; other times it will not. Does anyone have any idea why this could happen? Maybe a mistake which someone has made and solved before? I used to have regular expressions in place that the names were compared to - I believe it was [a-zA-Z]{1, 100} (between 1 and 100 lower- or upper-case characters). For some reason the customer who I am developing the site for used to get errors saying its not in the correct format. Yet he could try the same text 5 minutes later and it would work fine. I am thinking this could well be the same problem, since both problems occur at random. Many thanks in advance. Regards, Richard Clarke Edit: After much time spent narrowing down the code, I have decided to wait till my brother, who has been a programmer for at least 8 years more than I have, to come down over Easter and get him to have a look at it. If he cant solve it then I will zip the files up and put them somewhere for people to access and have a go at. I narrowed it down literally to the minimum number of files possible, and it still occurs. It seems to be about every 10th time. Having said that, I force the manager classes to refresh every 10 page loads or 5 minutes (whichever one is sooner). I may look into this - this could be causing a problem. Basically each Manager contains an array of an object. This array is populated using data from the database. The Update function takes an instance of the item and the new values to be set for the object. If it happens to be a page load where the array is reset (ie the data is loaded freshly from the database) then the object instance with the same ID wont be the same instance as the one being passed in. This explains the fact that it throws an ItemAlreadyExistsException now and then. It all makes sense now the more I think about it. If I were to pass in the ID of the object to be altered, rather than the object itself, then it should work perfectly. I will answer the question if I solve it..

• how to change stack size for a C# program?

  Dear friends, I have a program that does recursive calls for 2 billion times and the stack overflow. I make changes, and then it still need 40K resursive calls. So I need probably serveral MB stack memory. I heard the stack size is default to 1MB. I tried search online. Some one said to go properties -linker .........in visual studio, but I cannot find it. Does anybody knows how to increase it? Also I am wondering if I can set it some where in my C# program? P.S. I am using 32-bit winXP and 64bit win7. Thanks a lot

• Displaying Fourier transforms in OpenCV

  Hi, I'm just learning to use OpenCV and am having a problem with using DFT. I've done a signal processing class which used MatLab, so I'm trying to go through some of the exercises we did in that class. I'm trying to get and display the FT of an image, so I can mask some of the frequencies. I'd like to be able to see the FT, so I know how big to make the mask, but when I tried, I got an image like this: rather than like one of these Am I forgetting a step somewhere? I'm loading the image, converting its type to CV_32FC1, getting the matrix of it, getting the DFT, and then getting turning the resulting matrix back into an image. I'll post the code I'm using if it will be of any help? Or if someone has a link to an example of displaying the FT? I could only find ones which used it for the convolution. EDIT: Did I get the Phase of the image?

However it causes the legend to give birth to a little legend beneath it, entitled "3" and containing nothing but a big dot and the number 3. This does the same ggplot(myDat,aes(VarX,VarY,shape=Descrip)) + geom_point(aes(size=3)) Yes, it is funny. It would have driven me insane a couple hours ago if it weren't so funny. But now let's make it stop.

  hi, i know this question have been mentioned alot here but mine is a little more updated, now with ASP.net 4 and new Ajax client templating plus JASON services. so if i got all these new capabilities will i really need server side controls as long as i can bind on client side, create data-views on client side heck i can even use data-context and apply CRUD operations on clients side. so i actually i wont need button_click server side event or what so ever... i am asking this because i own some commercial Controls like Telerik and Component art and they both offer client side operations ow but still i am confused as to my knowledge creating these controls will still have to go through Page Life cycle please advise me.

• Too many connections to 212.192.255.240

  Recently, my Internet slowed down drastically. I downloaded a tool to see the TCP/IP connections from my Vista computer. I found out that a lot TCP/IP connections are being connected to 212.192.255.240 through SVCHost. It seems that it is trying to connect to different ports. I think that my computer is being infected with some kind of malware etc. But I am not sure how to get rid of it. I did a little bit of research on this IP but found nothing. Any suggestions are highly appreciated. UPDATE: This is the HiJackThis log file and I can't find any thing weird. Also, the program is also trying to create connections to 91.205.127.63, which is also from Russia. • Python Comet Server

  I am building a web application that has a real-time feed (similar to Facebook's newsfeed) that I want to update via a long-polling mechanism. I understand that with Python, my choices are pretty much to either use Stackless (building from their Comet wsgi example) or Cometd + Twisted. Unfortunately there is very little documentation regarding these options and I cannot find good information online about production scale users of comet on Python. Has anyone successfully implemented comet on Python in a production system? How did you go about doing it and where can I find resources to implement my own?

• Unity IOC, AOP & Interface Interception

  I've been playing around with Unity to do some AOP stuff, setting up via IOC like: ioc.RegisterType<ICustomerService, CustomerService>() .Configure<Interception>().SetInterceptorFor<ICustomerService>(new InterfaceInterceptor()); ... and then having an ICallHandler on the ICustomerService interface's methods. For teh time being i want to just get the method called, the class it's in, and the namespace for that class. So... inside the... public IMethodReturn Invoke(IMethodInvocation input, GetNextHandlerDelegate getNext) ...method of the ICallHandler, i can access the method name via input.MethodBase.Name... if i use input.MethodBase.DeclaringType.Name i get the interface ICustomerService... BUT... how would i go about getting the implementing class "CustomerService" rather than the interface? I've been told to use input.Target.. but that just returns "DynamicModule.ns.Wrapped_ICustomerService_4f2242e5e00640ab84e4bc9e05ba0a13" Any help on this folks?

  I've been programming for x86 & x86-64 in assembly language for few months. Now, I want to move on to some different kind of processors. MIPS, SPARC, PowerPC, Itanium, ARM of these I found ARM is being widely use. But the books I see that tutorials & books teach about MIPS more than all these other architectures. Why is MIPS so popular? Are MIPS processors still in use? Which architecture should I go for?
