• How to assign a PHP variable that contains a mixed of PHP and html elements?

  I have a PHP page that contains html and tags and PHP codes and I am using AJAX to manipulate some data and now I need to spit out the response but I am not sure if it is possible to put the mixed content into a string variable to pass through... Is this possible? For example I need to: $response = "<p>some text--<?php echo $something; ?>"; Thanks... To clear things up, I am not trying to send raw PHP code to clientside as that would be silly and won't be evaluated as it is a server side script. I am just looking for a fast way to put everything into a variable without manually re-doing the whole page stripping out the php open and close tags and echos...etc

• Django: How can I add weight/ordering to a many to many relationship?

  I'm having Pages with TextBlocks on them. Text Blocks may appear on different pages, pages may have several text blocks on them. Every page may have these blocks in an ordering of it's own. This can be solved by using a separate through parameter. Like so: class TextBlock(models.Model): title = models.CharField(max_length=255) text = models.TextField() class Page(models.Model): textblocks = models.ManyToManyField(TextBlock, through=OrderedTextBlock) class OrderedTextBlock(models.Model): text_block = models.ForeignKey(TextBlock) product_page = models.ForeignKey(ProductPage) weight = models.IntegerField() class Meta: ordering = ('weight',) But I'm not very enthousiastic about the violations of DRY for my app. (There's a lot of ordered ManyToMany relations).   I'm sure this has been asked a million times, but what is the accepted approach to this? I have been writing php code for a while and up until recently I only copied+pasted javascript code, but now with help from YUI I've begun to understand javascript and want to use it more in an existing web app I have. I want to get various amounts of data from databases etc to the clientside javascript. I have access to this data in my php pages when loading. What is the correct way to get this data to my client side script. Generate clientside javascript in my php or smarty template files inserting the data where I need it? Use an Ajax call to retrieve the information I need from a php file - returning JSON data? Generate a JSON data construct of the data needed by the page and either return it via a script inclusion or dumping it to the generated page? Something really obvious I haven't thought of.

  On several occations, I have faced the situation that the default.aspx page on a Site doesn't work. More specifically, a reference to a WebPart and/or Control is throwing a error because the assembly is not found. Fine, you just fire up the dreaded SharePoint Designer and remove the dependency line. However, if I wanted to use this method when not having SharePoint Designer, how could this be done? EDIT: Removing the web part using the "?contents=1" web part management page didn't help in my case. The <%@Register tag was still there and had to be removed using SharePoint Designer.

  I'm in this project: A web page that's gonna be used by the front-end company people to query and update data from a SQL DB. I'm working with visual studio and the code behind (C#) is almost done, so the interactions between SQL and C# and ok. My original idea was to work with ASP.NET which is familiar to me, but that's not gonna be possible. I have to switch to PHP. So, today is my first day learning PHP, checking http://php.net/manual/en/index.php and a lot of things seem quite similar to ASP.NET so I guess it won't be that hard. Anyways, some questions popped up quite fast as I wanted to script something else than a "hello world" . Is there an easy way to get/send C# variables from my class using a php page? I've read soemthing about using XML in order to do so, but still I'm scratching my head, is there another, easier, way to do this?

  Hi, I am trying to display a table to display of products (rows) in a single A4 fixed layout page. I manage to add a table with header/detail/footer sections but I can not set a minimum heigth for the detail section (150mm for example). If I set a 150mm heigth on the detail row, then Each row will have that 150mm heigth. Whereas I would like, each row to have a minimal heith (could be on several line if the content of some columns is wrapped). +---------+--------+--------------+ Tbl Hdr | col1 | col2 | col3 | +---------+--------+--------------+ Tbl Dtl | [val1] | [val2] | [val3] | +---------+--------+--------------+ | | <-should have a variable heigth +---------+--------+--------------+ Tbl Ftr | | | Total | +---------+--------+--------------+ If a set not heigth on the detail row then the footer comes, right beneath the detail rows, instead of sticking at the bottom of the page :-( I hope this makes sense (if not I could provide more details).   So im trying to creating a combination of keys to generate the ISO key for Portuguese layout, the key in question is the <, pressing it normally will generate the '<' character, pressing + shift will generate the ' ' character. So i'm trying to create a combination while using xmodmap, and i want this to work for all programs.I've been searching on Google and came up with this example for Control + P = Up: Control + p = Up arrow example The example for that behaviour is: xmodmap -e "keycode 33 = p P Up" keycode 33 matches the p key, so where does control comes up in that command? regards,

I do not know if this is since the iCallbackEventHandler is asynchronous, the validator has not talked to the server yet so the value will always show up blank? Is it impossible to do what i am trying to do by using a iCallbackEventHandler?

  I developed a web app that responds with data in the format as specified by the client in the HTTP Accept Headers. Everything worked fine while using Firefox, but when I wanted to check my CSS / HTML on Chrome and IE, both of them wanted to download the index page, as if it's an unknown content type. After some research I found this article, which states that IE sends out a lot of crud in it's HTTP Accept headers, amongst others a list of image/* content types right at the start. This caused my web app to try to send the index page as an image/jpeg. So how do I know when to ignore and when to use the Accept Headers?

• Get content in iframe to use as much space as it needs

  I'm trying to write a simple JavaScript based modal dialog. The JavaScript function takes the content, puts it in a new iframe and adds the iframe to the page. Works great so far, the only problem is that the content of the dialog (e.g. a table) gets wrapped, although plenty of space is available on the page. I'd like the content of the dialog, a table in my case, to use as much space as it needs, without wrapping any lines. I tried lots of combinations of setting width/style.width on the iframe and the table. Nothing did the trick. • Where and how to store functions in asp.net.vb

  Hi. I am using visual studio 2008, asp.net.vb I have various functions; 1 that calculates totals, 1 that calculates averages, 1 that calculates percentages etc. The data they act upon is different depending on the particular web page, but all my pages use these functions. So I want to know how I can store these functions in a single place so that all of my web pages can access the routines. At the moment all I know how to do is to write seperate functions in the code-behind for each individual web page. Obviously that is just so long winded and inefficient, but try as I might I can't figure out how to do it better. Please can anyone help. Many thanks.

  I use javascript and css to build a multi-level drop down menu with following markups: <ul> <li>menu item 1</li> <ul> <li><a href="#">sub menu menu item 1</a></li> ................. This markup is generated by a custom JSTL tag <mui:menu .../> which loads menu data from a database. I hope my jsp page can behave like this: if menu data has not changed since last time I visited the page, just use browser's cache otherwise load from database... How can I do it? I don't know much detail about cache mechanism.

  I've got a web page which is implementing cookie based ASPNET Forms Authentication. Once the user has logged in the page, he can edit some information using a form which is created using a partialview and returned to him as a dialog for editing. The action linked to the partial view is decorated as follows: [HttpGet] [OutputCache(Duration = 0, VaryByParam = "None")] [Authorize(Roles = "test")] public ActionResult changeTripInfo(int tripID, bool ovride=false) { ... } The problem i am experiencing is the latency between the request and the time when the dialog is shown to the user: time ranges between 800 and 1100 ms which is not justified by the complexity of the form. Investigating with Glimpse turns out that the time to process the AuthorizeAttribute (see snip) sums up to at least 650 ms which is troubling me. Looking at the Sql server log, the call which checks the user roles takes, as expected, virtually nothing (duration 0). How can I reduce this time? Am I missing some optimization?

I would like to be able to select the code page to which unicode arguments passed to CreateProcessW() are converted to be different from the system's default codepage for non-unicode programs.

• Jquery Content Cycle Next/Previous not working

  I have a definition list with a lot of text inside of it. When a user comes to the page, I want the jQuery to hide two thirds of that content, add a next and previous button where appropriate, and fade the content in and out. The first third of the content is .issue-group-1, the second third is .issue-group-3, the third, .issue-group-3. I am trying to set it so that when the user hits the next button, the next button changes classes, and thus acts differently the next time the user clicks it (that is, it takes them to the third page instead of the second. Right now, the next/previous buttons are working on the first and second "pages" but the next button to the third page won't work. My code is probably too long and this is maybe not the best way to do it--I'm new to jquery. • Remembering Form information

  Hi everyone! I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I feel my situation is a little different... I have a huge form (like 50 questions involving checkboxes, drop downs, text boxes and textareas) When a user submits a form and the validation page throws an error, is there an easy way to keep the info they entered? My intitial form is on form.php and then the form action is form_posted.php, before anything is run on form_posted.php I have my validation code which sends the user back to form.php with an error number (eg. form.php?error=3) if there was a problem with any in particular. This is done with header("form.php?error=3") so on form.php do the posted variables exist? even tho the page wasn't specifically sent with any posted variables. Also if this is the case, is it completely secure to be making the value of a textbox what it was before? like <input type="text" value="php echo $_POSTED["username"] ?>">

• YAHOO.util.Connect.asyncRequest does not work in Safari

  When I request a webpage using YAHOO.util.Connect.asyncRequest in Safari I always get Communication Failure message in callback's failure properties statusText. The same method works in IE. What could be wrong here? Here is the code. When the code is executed I always get two alerts: "Three" and "communications failure undefined" (corresponding to the second alert in the failure part below.) Also when I attach the debugger and put break point in the SAProvision.aspx's page load event, the break point is not hit. So it is sure that in safari the page is not being called.
