  I need to reload a div on a page on click. All I need to do is refresh it on click, doesnt matter about loading a page in. Can this be done?

• AutoComplete field and IE

  My web page does not have the autocomplete attribute that would tell browsers not to autocomplete the field. In spite of not having this attribute, IE 8 or Safari (not sure on other browsers) does not autocomplete the page. Autocomplete does work on some sites (such as Gmail) so I am assuming that the browser setting is not causing it? • Linux cannot alter partition table of main hard disk of my laptop

  I run openSUSE 12.2 on my ASUS N76VZ laptop. My problem is that I cannot alter the partition table of first hard disk /dev/sda1. YaST partitioner says it's unreadable, but actually it can read it but not alter it. It doesn't tell me anything else, except that I can wipe the partition table (having to reinstall Windows for the third time). Since I want to create new partitions on that disk, how do I fix the partition table layout? I could create new partition from Windows Computer Management and format them in Linux. I could do this, but it doesn't explain the problem

• Interpreting Accept Headers as intended in IE and Webkit

  I developed a web app that responds with data in the format as specified by the client in the HTTP Accept Headers. Everything worked fine while using Firefox, but when I wanted to check my CSS / HTML on Chrome and IE, both of them wanted to download the index page, as if it's an unknown content type. After some research I found this article, which states that IE sends out a lot of crud in it's HTTP Accept headers, amongst others a list of image/* content types right at the start. This caused my web app to try to send the index page as an image/jpeg. So how do I know when to ignore and when to use the Accept Headers?

  HI, I am developing asp.net mvc site with linq-to-sql we are having 1000 cocurrent users and we are having performance problems. I have found that stackovewflow is also build on linq-to-sql? So can anybody know how they improved performance. Without line performance was good each page are loaded in 3 seconds but after migrating to linq as per our client requirement page comes in 8 to 10 seconds which is not acceptable performance. • Can I delete the OEM partition on the new Dell XPS 15?

  My new Dell XPS 15 L521X just arrived. I need to set this up to dual boot Linux. Sadly, the system comes with four primary partitions. I can't do a clean install at the moment, so one of the partitions will have to be deleted before I can install Linux. The layout is as follows: OEM: 39mb Hibernation: 8gb OS: 457gb Recovery: 12gb Obviously, I can't delete the Hibernation and OS partitions (will shrink to make space for Linux) and I'd like to keep the recovery partition if possible. So my question is what is on the small OEM partition? What functionality will I lose if I delete it?

• VBScript Can not Select XML nodes

  I am trying to Select nodes from some webservice response XML to no avail. For some reason I am able to select the root node ("xmldata") however, when I try to drill deeper("xmldata/customers") everything is returned empty!   Hi, I've made this code: window.setInterval(function(){ var a = doStuff(); var b = a + 5; }, 60000) The actual contents of the anonymous function is of course just for this small example as it doesn't matter. What really happens is a bunch of variables get created in the scope of the function itself, because I don't need/want to pollute the global space. But as you all know, the doStuff() function won't be called until 60 seconds in the page. I would also like to call the function right now, as soon as the page is loaded, and from then on every 60 seconds too. Is it somehow possible to call the function without copy/pasting the inside code to right after the setInterval() line? As I said, I don't want to pollute the global space with useless variables that aren't needed outside the function.

  Hi, I am trying to display a table to display of products (rows) in a single A4 fixed layout page. I manage to add a table with header/detail/footer sections but I can not set a minimum heigth for the detail section (150mm for example). If I set a 150mm heigth on the detail row, then Each row will have that 150mm heigth. In the target process, this should have the same effect as calling _setmbcp(). The target process is not a unicode-enabled and uses a plain main(int argc, char **argv) entry point. I would like to be able to select the code page to which unicode arguments passed to CreateProcessW() are converted to be different from the system's default codepage for non-unicode programs.

• Remembering Form information

  Hi everyone! I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I feel my situation is a little different... I have a huge form (like 50 questions involving checkboxes, drop downs, text boxes and textareas) When a user submits a form and the validation page throws an error, is there an easy way to keep the info they entered? My intitial form is on form.php and then the form action is form_posted.php, before anything is run on form_posted.php I have my validation code which sends the user back to form.php with an error number (eg. form.php?error=3) if there was a problem with any in particular. This is done with header("form.php?error=3") so on form.php do the posted variables exist? even tho the page wasn't specifically sent with any posted variables. Also if this is the case, is it completely secure to be making the value of a textbox what it was before? like <input type="text" value="php echo $_POSTED["username"] ?>">

  I need to create a gridview based on 2 different datasources: main and sub-cathegory. And I need to list them like below: Productinfo sub-product 1 sub-product 2 Productinfo sub-product 1 sub-product 2 sub-product 3 sub-product 4 Etc... the thing is that both the "productinfo" and the "sub-product" are dynamic as the number of both can vary, so I would have to create a gridview within a gridview, plus the necessary filters too. For this reason I thought it was best to do it all in code-behind, but I can't understand how to use the gridview-class in codebehind and bind it so that it actually shows something in the main aspx page. Basically what I'm asking for is a simple example of how, when you have nothing but <asp:GridView/> in the aspx -page, can you add components to it and show it, from code-behind (vb)? Thanks.

• Jquery Content Cycle Next/Previous not working

  I have a definition list with a lot of text inside of it. When a user comes to the page, I want the jQuery to hide two thirds of that content, add a next and previous button where appropriate, and fade the content in and out. The first third of the content is .issue-group-1, the second third is .issue-group-3, the third, .issue-group-3. I am trying to set it so that when the user hits the next button, the next button changes classes, and thus acts differently the next time the user clicks it (that is, it takes them to the third page instead of the second. Right now, the next/previous buttons are working on the first and second "pages" but the next button to the third page won't work. My code is probably too long and this is maybe not the best way to do it--I'm new to jquery. • How can I improve my select query for storing large versioned data sets?

  At work, we build large multi-page web applications, consisting mostly of radio and check boxes. The primary purpose of each application is to gather data, but as users return to a page they have previously visited, we report back to them their previous responses. Worst-case scenario, we might have up to 900 distinct variables and around 1.5 million users. For several reasons, it makes sense to use an insert-only approach to storing the data (as opposed to update-in-place) so that we can capture historical data about repeated interactions with variables. The net result is that we might have several responses per user per variable. Our table to collect the responses looks something like this: CREATE TABLE [dbo].[results]( [id] [bigint] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, [userid] [int] NULL, [variable] [varchar](8) NULL, [value] [tinyint] NULL, [submitted] [smalldatetime] NULL) Where id serves as the primary key. Virtually every request results in a series of insert statements (one per variable submitted), and then we run a select to produce previous responses for the next page (something like this): SELECT t.id, t.variable, t.value FROM results t WITH (NOLOCK) WHERE t.userid = '2111846' AND (t.variable='internat' OR t.variable='veteran' OR t.variable='athlete') AND t.id IN (SELECT MAX(id) AS id FROM results WITH (NOLOCK) WHERE userid = '2111846' AND (t.variable='internat' OR t.variable='veteran' OR t.variable='athlete') GROUP BY variable) Which, in this case, would return the most recent responses for the variables "internat", "veteran", and "athlete" for user 2111846. We have followed the advice of the database tuning tools in indexing the tables, and against our data, this is the best-performing version of the select query that we have been able to come up with. Even so, there seems to be significant performance degradation as the table approaches 1 million records (and we might have about 150x that). We have a fairly-elegant solution in place for sharding the data across multiple tables which has been working quite well, but I am open for any advice about how I might construct a better version of the select query. We use this structure frequently for storing lots of independent data points, and we like the benefits it provides. So the question is, how can I improve the performance of the select query? I assume the nested select statement is a bad idea, but I have yet to find an alternative that performs as well. Thanks in advance. NB: Since we emphasize creating over reading in this case, and since we never update in place, there doesn't seem to be any penalty (and some advantage) for using the NOLOCK directive in this case.

• Custompage Module-Issue with CSS (Drupal-6.x)

  I'm new to Drupal and have recently installed the custompage module. I received a lot of errors until I placed "custom.tpl.php" in the custompage module folder. I am able to navigate to the custom page from the primary links. But, the CSS I created for that specific page is not showing up. I'm thinking it's because "custom.tpl.php" is located in the module folder of Drupal Core and my CSS is in the theme folder. But I'm not sure how to fix the problem. I tried to copy the "custom.tpl.php" in my themes folder, but then I receive a lot of errors. Any help would be appreciated.

  I've always used cURL for this sort of stuff, but this article got me thinking I could request another page easily using the Request object in Kohana 3. $url = 'http://www.example.com'; $update = Request::factory($url); $update->method = 'POST'; $update->post = array( 'key' => 'value' ); $update->execute(); echo $update->response; However I get the error Accessing static property Request::$method as non static From this I can assume it means that the method method is static, but that doesn't help me much. I also copied and pasted the example from that article and it threw the same error. Basically, I'm trying to POST to a new page on an external server, and do it the Kohana way. So, am I doing this correctly, or should I just use cURL (or file_get_contents() with context)?

• Suggest Sphinx index scheme

  Hi. In a MySQL database I have documents of different type: some have text content, meta keys, descriptions, others have code, SKU number, size and brand name and so on. The problem is, I have to search something in all of these documents and then display a single page, where the results will be grouped by the document type, such as help page, blog post, item... It's not clear for me how to implement the Sphinx index: I want to have a single index to speed up queries, but since different docs have different structure - how can I group them? I was thinking about just concatenating them, but it just doesn't feel right.

• Where and how to store functions in asp.net.vb

I am using visual studio 2008, asp.net.vb I have various functions; 1 that calculates totals, 1 that calculates averages, 1 that calculates percentages etc. The data they act upon is different depending on the particular web page, but all my pages use these functions. So I want to know how I can store these functions in a single place so that all of my web pages can access the routines. At the moment all I know how to do is to write seperate functions in the code-behind for each individual web page. Obviously that is just so long winded and inefficient, but try as I might I can't figure out how to do it better. Please can anyone help. Many thanks.
