  So I have this shopping list coded in php and js: http://www.whatcouldicook.com/recipes/planner So people can add, delete or sort the list and thats fine, I dont want multiple lists and instead just have a list item containing a heading tag to represent a new list. All this works and then using serialize I can save the ordering/modifying of the list. I don't know how to get the list contents however as these will be dynamic from the user. All the code is on that url so hopefully you can examine the code there. Thanks everyone

• Compute column widths in a HTML-like manner (based on cell contents)

  Hi, I have a grid of data that I want to export to RTF, PDF etc. using various (and not perfect) PHP converters/generators. What I am missing most is the HTML table automatic adjustment of column widths based on the lengths of strings in the cells (strings contain line breaks which complicate things a bit, as they should be preserved). I need an algorithm that, given the contents of the cells (plain text), a total width of the table and an average width of a character, would return a width for each column. I wouldn't want to reinvent the wheel if something is already available. Of course it can't be perfect if the font is variable width, but an approximation would do just fine. Or maybe it could have a configurable table with widths for each character. Any hint would be appreciated. Thank you.

• How can I most accurately calculate the execution time of an ASP.NET page while also displaying it o

  I want to calculate the execution time of my ASP.NET pages and display it on the page. Currently I'm calculating the execution time using a System.Diagnostics.Stopwatch and then store the value in a log database. The stopwatch is started in OnInit and stopped in OnPreRenderComplete. This seems to be working quite fine, and it's giving a similar execution time as the one shown in the page trace. The problem now is that I'm not able to display the execution time on the page because the stopwatch is stopped too late in the life cycle. What is the best way to do this?

• Empty dict-like collection problem in SQLAlchemy

  I have a mapping in SQLAlchemy that looks like this: t_property_value = sa.Table('property_value', MetaData, autoload = True, autoload_with = engine) orm.mapper(PropertyValue, t_property_value) t_estate = sa.Table('estate', MetaData, autoload = True, autoload_with = engine) orm.mapper(Estate, t_estate, properties = dict( property_hash = orm.relation(PropertyValue, collection_class = column_mapped_collection(t_property_value.c.property_id)) )) Now, everything seems to be fine, when I load the Estate object and it has some relations to PropertyValue objects. However, when it does not, then property_hash attribute is None, instead of being something dict-like, so I can not add new relations like this: estate.property_hash[prop_id] = PropertyValue(...) because I get the "'NoneType' object does not support item assignment" error. So, is there any way to force SQLAlchemy to create proper empty collection?

  Hello, my Question is as follows: What does GEvent.addListener(map, "click" function(){...}) return into the callback function? I don't find any information in the GMaps reference at all, can you show me some? The only thing I found out was that there are two parameters, "overlay" and "latLng" that are passed. The name of these parameters should not be of interest right? I could also name them "foo" and "bar" as far as I know. But the parameter "overlay" seems to be empty anyway? Also I have problems passing these two parameters directly into a callback function I created myself which looks like that... GEvent.addListener(gmap, "click", generateMarker(overlay, latLng)); ... instead of writing the following, which actually works fine. In Vista, Window7 main.bmp is showing just fine. Also in English XP its ok. But why the image is not showing fully in non-English XP? How would I use .ico file here instead of .bmp? This is to make the image transparent.

  Hi, i'm just observing what NMAP is doing for the 3 ports it reports are open. I understand what a half-scan attack is, but what's happening doesnt make sense. NMAP is reporting ports 139 are 445 are open..... all fine. But when i look at the control bits, NMAP never sends RST once it has found out the port is open, It does this for port 135- but not 139 and 445. This is what happens: (I HAVE OMITTED THE victim's replies) Sends a 2 (SYN) Sends a 16 (ACK) Sends a 24 (ACK + PST) Sends a 16 (ACK) Sends a 17 (ACK + FIN) I dont get why NMAP doesnt 'RST' ports 139 and 445??

• Django - Empty session data in ajax requests

  Hi guys, I have an ajax view where I want to set a session variable like such: def upload(request, *args, **kwargs): request.session['test'] = 'test' request.session.modified = True print request.session.items() I have another normal view something like this: def advertise(request): print request.session.items() I get these two strings printed to shell: [('test', 'test')] [('_auth_user_backend', 'django.contrib.auth.backends.ModelBackend'), ('_auth_user_id', 26L)] Why is the session data that I set in the ajax view not passing to my regular views? If I set session data in regular view, everything works as fine, but it seems that ajax requests contain empty session data? Anybody dealt with something like this before? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

• Code Interaction with Quartz Composition

  Hi, i have a Quartz Composition with a Cube, and X/Y/Z rotation inputs are published. On Interface Builder i made a QCView and a QCPatchController with the previous Quartz Composition loaded. In QCView the Patch Controller is binded, and the rotation published ports are binded too to three NSSlider, so when i change the value of the NSSlider's then the cube rotates. All this works fine, but i want to change the rotation values of the cube from the App Delegate on XCode. I tried to change the value of the NSSliders with IBoulets pointing to them, but this change doesnt apply to the cube, like it does when i change the Sliders directly with my mouse. What should i instanciate and/or how to access and change this Input_Ports.value throught the CQPatchController? Thank you very much for reading, i really need help!

• IE's responseXML.getElementsByTagName() unable to handle non English character ?

  I have a javascript that does this (http is your XMLHttpRequest object) var r = http.responseXML.getElementsByTagName('item'); The issue is variable r is always an empty list if the response contains non-English character (r.length is 0). The response header is correctly set Content-Type: text/xml;charset=ISO-8859-1 This is what the response from the webserver looks like <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?> <d> <r> <item value="jmob" label="John Möb"/> </r> </d> It happens only in IE (both IE6 and IE8), works in Firefox and Chrome. If items contain only English characters, it works fine. Is there a workaround for this ?

• Changing stylesheet href with jQuery doesn't quite work

  I'm creating a web app that user will be accessing in the field, so they'd like to be able to manually toggle the styles from light to dark depending on the ambient lighting. I'm using jQuery. I added an id attribute to my stylesheet, then created a button using the toggle() event, in which I change the href attribute to the CSS file I want. The CSS file has several @import directives as I split the styles into several files for maintainability. My problem is only the main CSS file is being applied. I tried using the absolute path in the @import directives, but no luck. Is there a fix here I'm missing, or do I have to inlcude everything in a single CSS file? Edit: Apprently this is only a problem in IE8, works fine in Chrome and Firefox. Unfortunately, my client wants only IE8. Looks like this is a duplicate of this question.

• How can i handle mouse double click event on textbox?

  Hello, I want to open one child window on mouse double click of textbox. I know the only event available in Silverlight is MouseLeftButtonDown and you have to simulate double click. However it still doesn't work when i click in the middle of the textbox. It only works when i double click on the border of the textbox. Anybody has any ideas of how can i do this? If any 3rd party library is available then also it's fine. Thanks in advance:)

• jQuery image fade not working for unknown reason...?

  Just when I thought I was done for the night, another issue is keeping me awake. It appears that somehow I have broken the fade I was using on my thumbnails. If you go here: http://ftframes.com/milad2/ When you hover your mouse of the thumbnails, it should fade up.   Hey everybody, I am trying to add a vlc:// helper protocol on Mac OS X. To register the protocol, I have unsuccessfully been playing around with the MoreInternet PrefPane. What I want to have in my browser is a vlc://someressource.com/audio.mp3, which should launch VLC and add http://someressource.com/audio.mp3 to the playlist (this works fine on Windows and also Linux if I remember correctly). Maybe even just have vlc://http:// so that https would also be supported. I have no idea how to achieve this. I tried making a bash script, which MoreInternet would not accept. Then I tried making an application through Automator with my Bash script embedded. That did not work either, as the Automator application has no "creator code" - whatever that is?! Can any of you guys point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance!

• Attaching catalog with SQL Authentication credentials attaches it as Read-Only

  Hello, As part of our product's installation process, a database is attached to the server. We use EXEC sp_attach_db in order to attach it to MSSQL. The problem occures when we try to attach it with "SQL Authentication" connection string - the database is attached to the server as read-only, thus preventing any write access from being performed This is driving us nuts... it's working just fine with Windows Authentication, and the only difference is the connection string... I tried googling for it but no mention for such a scenario is found. Any ideas anyone? It's important to mention that the MDF/LDF physical files are not set with "ReadOnly" attribute, so this is not the problem.

• Urls parameters doesn't encoding correctly!

  I'am using asp.net mvc version 1.0 and I've a problem with some parameter in a url! My url is look like so(http://localhost:2282/Tags/PostList/c#) routes.MapRoute( "TagsRoute", "Tags/PostList/{tag}", new { controller="Tags",Action="PostList",tag = "" } ); In effect the problem is that tag paramter isn't encoding and so simbol # is ignored! I am using an actionlink but maybe with version 1.0 isn't encoding parameter directly! <%=Html.ActionLink(itemtags.Tags.TagName, "PostList","Tags", new { tag = itemtags.Tags.TagName }, new { style = "color:red;" })%> With this actionlink only whitespace are encoding correctly, infact asp.net mvc become asp.net%20mvc and it work fine! But c# isn't encoding :( So I try to use Server.UrlEncode, and in effect it happen some stuff!!! Infact c# became c%2523 but it isn't correct again because hexadecimal of # is %23!   Using Prism - what is the best way to handle navigation in a WPF application? And how do you apply this? Are there any best practices? In my application I'm currently using Event Aggregation. Any menu item or other item that should result in navigation in the program will publish an event, and the module responsible for opening the view represented by the published event will do so. This works just fine, but I have a feeling this is not the best way to handle navigation with Prism. Is it?

  I'm working on our new homepage and need to implement a solution that will run a video across iphone/ipad and the standard web browsers. I found a pretty decent solution with html5media - http://code.google.com/p/html5media/ but ran across an issue with a jquery dropdown falling behind the the swf object (this only happens on FF & IE - works fine on Safari & Chrome because it's loading mp4 instead of a swf object). I know the issue is the wmode setting but can not for the life of me figure out where to set it in the html5media (http://html5media.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/src/html5media.min.js). I'm hoping someone can help me or possibly give me a better solution of implementing the video. • System("pause"); - Why is it wrong?

  Here's a question that I don't quite understand: The command, System("pause"); is taught to new programmers as a way to pause a program and wait for a keyboard input to continue. However, it seems to be frowned on by many veteran programmers as something that should not be done in varying degrees. Some people say it is fine to use. Some say it is only to be used when you are locked in your room and no one is watching. Some say that they will personally come to your house and kill you if you use it. I, myself am a new programmer with no formal programming training. I use it because I was taught to use it. What I don't understand is that if it is not something to be used, then why was I taught to use it? Or, on the flip side, is it really not that bad after all? What are your thoughts on this subject?

• I need to debug my BrowserHelperObject (BHO) (in C++) after a internet explorer 8 crash in Release m

  Hi, here is the situation, i'm developping a Browser Helper Object (BHO) in C++ with Visual Studio 2008, and i learned that the memory wasn't managed the same way in Debug mode than in Release mode. So when i run my BHO in debug mode, internet explorer 8 works just fine and i got no erros at all, the browser stays alive forever, but as soon as i compile it in release mode, i got no errors, no message, nothing, but after 5 minutes i can see through the task manager that internet explorer instances are just eating memory and then the browser just stop responding every time. Please, I really need some hint on how to get a feedback on what could be the error. I heard that, often it was happening because of memory mismanagement. I need a software that just grab a memory dump or something when iexplorer crashes to help me find the problem. Any help is appreciated, I'll be looking for responses every single days, thank you.

• Keystore in PKCS12 format seems empty to keytool, but is read by Firefox?!

  I have a problem with a keystore in pkcs12 format, which contains a private key I need to use to authenticate myself (using mutual authentication) to a remote SSL server. The keystore file can be read perfectly fine by Firefox, and when used, I can access the remote server without problems. However, my Java program does not work with the keystore file. And if I use keytool to list keys inside the file, it seems empty -- while it is clearly not! How can I get Java/keytool to see the private key inside the keystore?

• NHibernate: Can I access a generated primary key after saving a model?

  Howdy, So I've got a simple table with an ID field that's incrementally generated on INSERT. I've set the mapping up in NHibernate to reflect this: <id name="ID"> <generator class="identity" /> </id> And it all works fine. Trouble is, I need to get the generated ID after I've saved a new model to use elsewhere: var model = new MyModel(); session.SaveOrUpdate(model); But at this stage model.ID == null, not the ID. • Does SQL Server Compact not support keywords 'Foreign Key References' in Create Table or am I making a mistake?

  I keep getting errors using Sql Compact. I have seen that it is possible to create table constraints in compact edition as shown here. And according to the documents found here it provides "Full referential integrity with cascading deletes and updates". So am I really not allowed to do the following or am I making a mistake? I keep getting complaints from sql server compact edition that the constaint is not valid, though it works fine on express edition.
