• How to get JSF2 working with Seam2

  Hi all, Is it possible to get JSF2 working on the latest production Seam release (2.2.1.GA)? I get this error on startup: javax.faces.view.facelets.FaceletException: Must have a Constructor that takes in a ComponentConfig at • ObservableCollection is not updating Multibinding in C# WPF

  I have a TreeView that creates all its items from databound ObservableCollections. I have a hierarchy of GameNode objects, each object has two ObservableCollections. One collections has EntityAttrib objects and the other have GameNode objects. You could say that the GameNode object represents folders and EntityAttrib represents files. To display both attrib and GameNodes in the same TreeView I use Multibinding. This all works fine in startup, but when I add a new GameNode somewhere in the hierarchy the TreeView is not updated. I set a breakpoint in my converter method but it's not called when adding a new GameNode. It seems that the ObservableCollection is not notifying the MultiBinding of the change. If I comment out the MultiBinding and only bind the GameNode collection it works as expected. • How can I use Window.ShowActivated = false with Maximized window?

  I have an application that has a splash screen shown before I create my main window. I want to avoid the main window stealing the focus when it gets created if the user has focused another application while the splash screen was shown. My application's startup looks like this: private void Application_Startup(object sender, StartupEventArgs e) { SplashScreenService.Start(); // Initializing stuff... ... // Ready to open the main window. MainWindow mainWindow = MainWindow(); mainWindow.ShowActivated = SplashScreenService.HasFocus(); mainWindow.ShowDialog(); } To prevent the main window from getting activated, I'm setting Window.ShowActivated to false, only if the splash screen has lost the focus. But this causes an exception: InvalidOperationException: Cannot show Window when ShowActivated is false and WindowState is set to Maximized. Indeed, my MainWindow sets the WindowState to Maximized (restored from previous session settings). I don't understand why there is such a limitation with the ShowActivated feature. I couldn't find any documentation about this issue. I tried forcing WindowState to Normal when ShowActivated is false, and it prevents the exception, but it also activates the window! Maybe changing the window state actually causes an activation? Is there a trick I can use to work around this? I want to restore my main window in a maximized state, and not have the main window steal focus away from other applications if the user has focused away from my app during the splash screen.

  Visual Studio is x86 until at least the 2010 release comes around, my question is can anyone think of a way or know of an independent ASP.NET debug server that's x64 for 2008? Background: Our ASP.NET application runs against Oracle as the DB. Since we're on 64-bit servers for memory concerns later, we need to use Oracle's 64-bit drivers (Instant Client). Setup: x64 OS (XP or Windows 7) IIS (5 or 7, both x64 App Pools) Oracle 64-bit Instant Client (Separate Directory, in the PATH) Visual Studio 2008 SP1 In IIS the application pool runs as 64-bit, uses the Oracle drivers as intended, however since WebDev.WebServer.exe is 32-bit you'll get a BadImageFormatException because it's trying to load 64-bit driver DLLs in a 32-bit environment. All of our developers would like to be able to use the quick debug server via Visual Studio 2008, but since it runs as 32-bit we're unable to. Some problems we run into are during application startup, so although we're attaching to the IIS process sometimes that isn't enough to track an issue down. Are there any alternatives, or work-arounds? We would like to match our Dev/Val/Prod tiers as much as possible, so everything running in x64 would be ideal.

  I'm trying to run an instance of Pentaho's bi-server-ce on a freshly installed CentOS 6.2 using PostgreSQL 8.4.x. I've installed a JDK 1.6 instance and it is working. Also I've a tomcat 6.0.35 instance where I run a few apps. I'd like bi-server to be one of many apps I run on this tomcat.   Hi Everyone, I've been trying to use TransactionScope with a DB2 database (using DB2 .Net provider v 9.0.0.2 and c# 2.0) which SHOULD be supported according to IBM. I have tried all the advice i could find on the IBM forums (such as here) to no avail. I have enabled XA transactions on my XP Sp2 machine, tried also from a Win 2003 Server machine but i consistently get the infamous error: ERROR [58005] [IBM][DB2/NT] SQL0998N Error occurred during transaction or heuristic processing. Reason Code = "16". Subcode = "2-80004005". SQLSTATE=58005 The windows event log says: The XA Transaction Manager attempted to load the XA resource manager DLL. The call to LOADLIBRARY for the XA resource manager DLL failed: DLL=C:\APPS\IBM\DB2v95fp2\SQLLIB\BIN\DB2APP.DLL File=d:\comxp_sp2\com\com1x\dtc\dtc\xatm\src\xarmconn.cpp Line=2467. Also, granted the NETWORK SERVICE user full rights to the folder and dll.   I have a selfhosted WCF service application which I want to deploy by a msi installer package. The endpoint uses http port 8888. In order to startup the project under windows 2008 after installation I have to either run the program as administrator or have to edit the http settings with netsh: "netsh http add urlacl url=http://+:8888/ user=\Everyone" I want to edit the http settings from my installer class. Therefore I call the following method from the Install() method: public void ModifyHttpSettings() { string parameter = @"http add urlacl url=http://+:8888/ user=\Everyone"; System.Diagnostics.ProcessStartInfo psi = new System.Diagnostics.ProcessStartInfo("netsh", parameter); psi.Verb = "runas"; psi.RedirectStandardOutput = false; psi.CreateNoWindow = true; psi.WindowStyle = System.Diagnostics.ProcessWindowStyle.Hidden; psi.UseShellExecute = false; System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(psi); } This method will work for english versions of windows, but not for localized versions (The group Everyone has different names in localized versions). I have also tried to use Environment.UserName to allow access at least for the current logged on user. But this does also not work, because the installer class is run by the msi service which runs under the user SYSTEM. Hence Enviroment.UserName returns SYSTEM and that is not what I want. Is there a way to grant access to all (or at least for the current logged on) user to my selfhosted WCF service from a msi installer class?

• Debuging CUDA kernels called from .NET code in VS2008, emulation mode

  CUDA has an option to compile code in emulation mode, which is supported in the .rules file they provide. I have C# .NET 3.5 SP1 code that calls a native dll, using DllImport, the native dll is compiled via VS2008 using nvcc and its function is to transfer memory from and to CUDA and to invoke CUDA kernels. When the CUDA kernels are correct, everything runs fine, but when there is a bug, I can only step in to the code until the title of the kernels and see the parameters they receive. (I enabled debugging native code in the startup-project's debug options.) I have tried compiling with emulation mode, however I get the CUDA error "mixed device execution" when calling the CUDA memcopy host--device. I tried switching the alloc+dealloc+memcopy with their equivalent non-CUDA versions, but then the same error occurs when invoking the kernels. What did I do wrong in my attempt to using the debug-emulation mode? P.S. I tried this on Vista x64 SP1 + VS2008, with the same solution complied in both x86 and x64, neither worked in emulation mode, both worked in non-emulation mode.

This is how I draw a grid. var jsonStore = new dojo.data.ItemFileWriteStore({data:columnValues}); gridInfo = { store: jsonStore, queryOptions: {ignoreCase: true}, structure: layout }; grid = new dojox.grid.DataGrid(gridInfo, "gridNode"); grid.startup(); Now if i try something like this, it works fine and gives me the rows which has the column (AGE_FROM) value equal to 63. grid.filter({AGE_FROM:63}); but I need all kinds of filtering and not just 'equal to' So how do I try to obtain all the rows which have AGE_FROM 63, and < 63 and <= 63 and =63. because grid.filter({AGE_FROM:<63}); does not work Also One other way I was thingking was to use the following filteredStore = new dojox.jsonPath.query(filterData,"[?(@.AGE_FROM = 63]"); and then draw the grid with the filteredStore, but the above is not working for a != operator. Once I figure a good way to filter grid I need to see a way to filter out dates. I am trying to find a good example for filtering dataGrid but most of the examples are just filtering based on the 'equal to' criteria. Any help is highly appreciated.

  I have Silverlight application called MyApp. During startup MyApp loads MyApp.Main.xap module using the following code: WebClient wc = new WebClient(); wc.OpenReadCompleted += new OpenReadCompletedEventHandler(onMainModuleLoaded); Uri uri = new Uri("MyApp.Main.xap", UriKind.Relative); wc.OpenReadAsync(uri); It works. Within MyApp.Main I would like to load another xap file MyApp.Billing.xap, so I wrote like the same as above WebClient wc = new WebClient(); wc.OpenReadCompleted += new OpenReadCompletedEventHandler(onBillingModuleLoaded); Uri uri = new Uri("MyApp.Billing.xap", UriKind.Relative); wc.OpenReadAsync(uri); but it throws an error saying the file not found. MyApp.Billing.xap file is inside ClientBin folder and I can download it directly via absolute path in a browser. If I try to download MyApp.Billing.xap not from inside MyApp.Main, but from inside MyApp (instead of MyAPp.Main.xap) it also works fine. What might be the problem?

• Ascii Bytes Array To Int32 or Double

  I'm re-writing alibrary with a mandate to make it totally allocation free. The goal is to have 0 collections after the app's startup phase is done. Previously, there were a lot of calls like this: Int32 foo = Int32.Parse(ASCIIEncoding.ASCII.GetString(bytes, start, length)); Which I believe is allocating a string. I couldn't find a C# library function that would do the same thing automatically. I looked at the BitConverter class, but it looks like that is only if your Int32 is encoded with the actual bytes that represent it. Here, I have an array of bytes representing Ascii characters that represent an Int32. Here's what I did public static Int32 AsciiBytesToInt32(byte[] bytes, int start, int length) { Int32 Temp = 0; Int32 Result = 0; Int32 j = 1; for (int i = start + length - 1; i >= start; i--) { Temp = ((Int32)bytes[i]) - 48; if (Temp < 0 || Temp > 9) { throw new Exception("Bytes In AsciiBytesToInt32 Are Not An Int32"); } Result += Temp * j; j *= 10; } return Result; } Does anyone know of a C# library function that already does this in a more optimal way? • Get JVM to grow memory demand as needed up to size of VM limit?

  We ship a Java application whose memory demand can vary quite a lot depending on the size of the data it is processing. If you don't set the max VM (virtual memory) size, quite often the JVM quits with an GC failure on big data. What we'd like to see, is the JVM requesting more memory, as GC fails to provide enough, until the total available VM is exhausted. e.g., start with 128Mb, and increase geometrically (or some other step) whenever the GC failed. The JVM ("Java") command line allows explicit setting of max VM sizes (various -Xm* commands), and you'd think that would be designed to be adequate. We try to do this in a .cmd file that we ship with the application. But if you pick any specific number, you get one of two bad behaviors: 1) if your number is small enough to work on most target systems (e.g., 1Gb), it isn't big enough for big data, or 2) if you make it very large, the JVM refuses to run on those systems whose actual VM is smaller than specified. How does one set up Java to use the available VM when needed, without knowing that number in advance, and without grabbing it all on startup?

• C++: Retriving values of static const variables at a constructor of a static variable

  I understand that the code below would result segmentation fault because at the cstr of A, B::SYMBOL was not initialized yet. But why? In reality, A is an object that serves as a map that maps the SYMBOLs of classes like B to their respective IDs. C holds this map(A) static-ly such that it can provide the mapping as a class function. The primary function of A is to serve as a map for C that initializes itself at startup. How should I be able to do that without segmentation fault, provided that I can still use B::ID and B::SYMBOL in the code (no #define pls)? Thanks! • Problems installing PHP's PECL sphinx module

  I've installed the sphinx binaries and libraries and am now trying to install the PECL sphinx module. My system is running OS X 10.6 with MAMP 1.8.2 installed. I try to install sphinx using the following command: sudo pecl install sphinx The PECL command outputs the following: running: phpize Configuring for: PHP Api Version: 20090626 Zend Module Api No: 20090626 Zend Extension Api No: 220090626 The versions above don't match the versions listed when doing a phpinfo(). It seems that PECL is trying to complie against the built-in version of PHP. If I ignore the errors and continue the it will successfully compile and place the sphinx.so file in: /usr/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20090626/sphinx.so when in fact it should be: /Applications/MAMP/bin/php5/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613/ I've tried copying the sphinx.so file to the MAMP extensions dir but when I restart apache PHP displays the following warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/Applications/MAMP/bin/php5/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613/sphinx.so I think this is because MAMP is 32bit and the built-in PHP is 64bit so PECL complies for 64bit. I might be completely wrong but I did read this when I goggled on the topic. Does anyone know how to get PECL to map to the MAMP version of PHP instead of the built-in version?

• How to create X509 self signed certificate for use in Apache Tomcat

  I have a Java application that runs on Windows Mobile devices using a 3rd Party JVM. The application communicates with an Apache Tomcat server over HTTP. We have also used HTTPS for some connections and the certificates were created using the Sun keytool utility. First a keystore was created using genkey, then the certificate exported using export and finally that was imported into another keystore using import. The file created by genkey was loaded into the Apache server and the keystore created using import was loaded into the JVM on the PDA. Everything works as expected. I am now working with a new JVM on the PDA and (for whatever reason) I have established that this JVM requires the keystore to be in X509 (DER) format. I started working on this about a month ago and had it working, but stupidly never wrote down the steps I took, and now I can't for the life of me remember what I did. I seem to remember using openssl but other than that I am totally lost. Anything I create now using openssl and try to load into Apache causes an error at startup (Invalid Keystore Format) so I am probably missing something out entirely. Does anyone have any ideas how I should be going about creating this self-signed X509 certificate that can be loaded into Apache server and JVM running on a PDA?

  Hey there, I am trying to get my application an installer via WiX 3.0. The exact code is: <File Id="ServiceComponentMain" Name="$(var.myProgramService.TargetFileName)" Source="$(var.myProgramService.TargetPath)" DiskId="1" Vital="yes"/> <!-- service will need to be installed under Local Service --> <ServiceInstall Id="MyProgramServiceInstaller" Type="ownProcess" Vital="yes" Name="MyProgramAddon" DisplayName="[removed]" Description="[removed]" Start="auto" Account="LocalService" ErrorControl="ignore" Interactive="no"/> <ServiceControl Id="StartDDService" Name="MyProgramServiceInstaller" Start="install" Wait="no" /> <ServiceControl Id="StopDDService" Name="MyProgramServiceInstaller" Stop="both" Wait="yes" Remove="uninstall" /> Thing is, for some reason LocalService fails on the "Installing services" step, and if I change it to "LocalSystem" then the installer times out while trying to start the service. The service starts fine manually and at system startup, and for all intents and purposes works great. I've heard there are issues getting services to work right under LocalService, but Google isnt really helping as everyone's responses have been "got it to work kthx". Just looking to get this service set up and started during installation, that's all. Any help? Thanks!
