  • Getting Facebook Posts Permalink from Facebook Graph API Search

    I want to use the Facebook Graph API to search the public status updates concerning a keyword. For example, this works great: http://graph.facebook.com/search?q=obama&type=post It shows me all the posts with the word "obama" in it. If the post is a picture, it actually returns a field called "link" which is the permalink to the picture on the actual Facebook website, in the user's profile. Which is exactly what I want, but for pictures. But if the post in question is just a status update, i.e. just text, all it returns is the 3 fields: message, created_time, and updated_time. How do I view this actual status update on www.facebook.com? I realize I can view it on graph.facebook.com in JSON format, but I want to actually be able to show the permalink to the status update, or post. The final result I would like to retrieve might look something like this: http://www.facebook.com/[user id]/posts/[post id] With the [user id] and [post id] fields swapped out with the actual IDs, obviously.   • Changelog file: YAML vs JSON vs CSV

    Hello everybody. I am creating a simple Changelog lib in CodeIgniter that will basically log a message everytime someone adds, deletes, changes or publish a blog post. I will log messages in files by batches of 300. So every 301st message will go in a new file. At first I wanted to write the logs to simple .log files but then I got the idea to actually style the thing and I had to seperate each "attribute" of each message (ie: the user, the message, the type of the log, etc.). So .log files are out of the question since extracting the info would be a pain. What is the most appropriate format for such a task? I already ruled out MySQL and XML because they are too heavy (especially considering that the log files won't exceed (about) 300 lines). I suggested YAML vs JSON vs CSV in the title, but is there yet a better alternative?

    This is very similar to a question I asked the other day but my page code has become significantly more complicated and I need to revisit it. I've been using the following code: $('#myLink').click(function() { $('#myImg').attr('src', 'newImg.jpg'); setTimeout(function() { $('#myImg').attr('src', 'oldImg.jpg'); }, 15000); }); To replace an image for a set period of time (15 seconds) when the link is clicked, then after 15 seconds, revert to the original image. However now, I'd like to run a snippet of javascript as well when the link is clicked (in addition to replacing the image), and only when the link is clicked (it's related to the 15 second image) and then have the js code disappear as well after the 15 seconds...however I'm not sure how to have jquery send js code into the page...Basically I just want jQuery to "echo" this code onto the page underneath the 15 second while I am there, but I don't know how jquery formats this "echo". Does this question make sense?

    Hi, I'm trying to make a clean url for a blog on a dynamic website, but I think that the problem is that I don't know how to plan the website schema. I read about how to use mod_rewrite and all I found is how to make "http://www.website.com/?category&date&post-title" to "http://www.website.com/category/date/post-title". that's works o.k for me. The problem is that If my url looks like "http://www.website.com/blog/?id=34" this method won't work as far as I got it. So, I have two questions: 1. Is there a way to use mod_rewrite (maybe read from a txt file) to read the post title of my blog and rewrite my url by date and post-title? 2. Should I rewrite my website to query the data from one index file in the homepage and use mod_rewrite to write the nice url? should I query also the date and the title of the post instead just the post ID?

  • problem with codeigniter using odbc database driver

    i’ve run into a curious problem with codeigniter's odbc driver. i’m connecting from a linux machine to an MSSQL 2008 machine using FreeTDS. while i get that the ‘num_rows’ function always returns -1, and that is fully a database/driver issue - for some reason when i try to create a -result(), the whole application crashes (error 500, sometimes just a blank page), if i’m lucky, i get an error message informing me that the application died because it tried to allocated 2 terrabytes of memory(!). This happens irregularly, ie: every few refreshes. sometimes it runs fine, sometimes the page returns error 500 and sometimes it gives the memory allocation error - in any case it’s not really something that can be reproduced with percision, and the queries are SUPER simple. ideas anyone?

    Hi there, I'm having issues getting the customer.xml layout file to work properly for the customer's "my account" pages. The navigation links and the previously ordered items that are usually on the left hand side of the page won't show up on the page, but if I change the reference name to "content" in the xml file, it shows up (except it's obviously then on the right hand side). I've checked the template it's referencing (2columns-left.phtml), and the getChildHtml('left') is there in the correct position. I'm pretty sure I got this to work with certain PDFs, but is it really possible that certain PDFs are made incorrectly and cannot be converted? Really getting stuck on this.

  • singleton vs factory?

    i've got 3 Log classes that all implements iLog interface: DatabaseLog FileLog ScreenLog there can only be one instance of them. initially i though of using single pattern for each class but then i thought why not use a factory for instantiation instead, cause then i wont have to create single pattern for each one of them and for all future Log classes. and maybe someone would want them as multiple objects in the future. so my questions is: should i use factory or singleton pattern here?

  • Installing Recaptcha in Joomla 1.5 user registration

    I am trying to install ReCaptcha into the user registration of Joomla 1.5. This may just be an issue with Joomla but when i hit register nothing happens. I think it's doing some JavaScript form validation but there is nothing telling the user what went wrong. if, God forbid, they do fill out the form correctly Joomla will redirect the user to the homepage and give no notice of success. Is this a Joomla issue or is there something wrong with my install? Does anyone know of a plug-in or module for Joomla that would make this easier? Thanks in advance, Samuel UPDATE: Joomla does a lot of "stuff"/"something" to the $_POST and $_GET variables which was causing the reCaptcha to not function. This was for work which is past so I am not spending anymore time on it. Shameless Plug: use wordpress instead. this can be closed as I don't have time to verify which answer works

  • Quick question on session security.

    Hey guys, I was scanning my site for security and I noticed that it was possible for non users to send requests and post information, so I decided to put login checks on all information posts. I was wondering if it was a good way to keep a session id that is created by md5(uniqid()); in a session variable $_SESSION['id']=md5(uniqid()); for each user and then store that in a database under active users for that user. Then when a user tries to insert information, verify that their $_SESSION['id'] variable is equal to the one in the database where the username equals their $_SESSION['username']. What are your ideas on this guys? Thanks in advance!
