Hi,
i am SSHing to a RHEL-3 box using Putty. Backspace works correctly, but when I press the "Delete" key the deletion does not happen. Instead, it prints "~" on the screen.
Thanks in advance,
Ajay
I'm looking for scripts or software that can scan workstations on a domain for a particular environmental variable (for interest, it was used to store the SOE build version) and generate a report.
Accuracy is key, I don't want any workstations skipped or missed. And considering workstations will need to be powered on for anything to remotely read from the registry (and there's no guarantee they will be), that means something that can sit and run continuously for a while, updating its own records as it goes.
Does anyone know of such a beast?
I'm installing Debian using the Live CD with GNOME and the non-free packages. The internet works just fine when using the live CD, but when you try to open the installer and select a network, it gives me the error of "Failure of key exchange and association". I've put everything in right, and tried multiple times. However, it never works. Am I just going to have to use ethernet to install? Thanks, people.
Hello everyone,
I am using a MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.5. I am new to this development environment, and previously worked on Windows.
I am wondering what is the PrintScreen key (generate a static image for screen snapshot) on the Mac?
thanks in advance,

What are key components to take care of in an inhouse or hosted email system? What configuration settings doea an administrator have to go through periodically?
Hi,
I am having trouble starting up Ubuntu (Karmic). Bascially I get to the bit where the log in dialog is supposed to appear, but it doesn't.
Is there a hot key of some sort to force the login dialog to appear?
Thanks!

When reading an email, the ESC key can be used to close the window. This doesn't work when you're composing an email. Is there any way to do this? This happened in T-Bird 2.x, as well, but I'm looking for a 3.0 solution. Thanks!

I'm about to hold a course for learning Linux. I'd like the participants to see what keys and key combinations I press. Is there anything like Mouseposé for Linux?
Ok, so I have a really weird problem on Windows 7 64 bit: Whenever I press a key in an explorer window (a file window, wifi connection dialog, and others) the process hangs.
What could be up? I thought a reboot would fix it, but it didn't.
I have a DVD player that can play files on a USB key.
It also works with a cable to my MP3 player (4gb chipod)
But it doesn't recognize any external USB hardrive. Even one <32Gb, fat32, single partition, everything I can think of to make it look simple.
Any ideas?
When I use the unix command 'less' I am constantly frustrated that using the Enter key on the numeric keypad doesn't work but instead types 'ESCOM'.
Is there a way to fix that?
I would like to create a shortcut key for "Reloading a file" in notepad++ as I use this feature a lot in it.
I tried finding documentation for it but didn't find any useful information.
Is it possible? If yes, please point me to how to do this?

Hi,
Im looking to map the Windows key to activate Application menu on Ubuntu. Ive had a look around System Preferences Keyboard Shortcuts but cannot seem to find anything there!
What is the purpose of the following command?
sudo echo t > /proc/sysrq-trigger
I run it, but I can see no difference in the magic key and its output at dmesg.
Trigger suggests me that the databases of sysrq are involved in the process.
Emacs does not seem to respect the OS's key repeat rate. I'm using emacs in the terminal. I've set the repeat rate to as fast as possible by directly editing the settings in the following file (I restarted after making the change):
open ~/Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist
The rest of the system observes the repeat rate. The terminal works as expected, as does vim. But, when I use emacs I still get the annoyingly slow repeat rate.
Hello,
I have an old computer whose hard drive is wiped. The Microsoft product key is on the back, but there is no reference to which OS it is. I know it must be some flavor of XP -- is there any way to find out which one?
How do I use Amazons' X.509 key and X.509 cert? I have downloaded these two files but don't know how to use them.
Using rightscale (https://my.rightscale.com/aws_credentials/), do I copy and paste the content of these two files? When I do, the rightscale app says not valid.
What am I doing wrong? How do I use these?
Hi Everyone,
Is it possible to somehow setup an ssh server that doesn't require a username, password or cert to login? If that's not possible, if I were to give all customers the same public key, would each connection be encrypted individually? (i.e. user A coudn't decrypt the payload of user B's connection)
I wish to provide access to a single program, which will prompt for a username and password.
Encryption is essential though, and users must not be able to snoop in on each other
Thanks
Is there any way to remove the permissions of the "creator owner" object on a registry key using security templates? It seems like you can either allow or deny objects permission using the template, but not clear a permission... so I'm not sure how to get rid of the object here.
I'd like to have a shortcut key that shows/hides the bookmark toolbar (not the sidebar).
(Yes, I've got the idea from Chrome). I've been searching for a solution to this particular itch, but found none. Is it possible?
