• Rails 3 remote resubmit form with dynamic fields

  I have a form which has remote => true. When i submit it the first time everything works well. If there are any errors i want to add new fields to this form. I did this with update.js.erb. The problem is that when i resubmit this form, the result js file is rendered as html (ie i see the js file text on the screen). This is the same update.js.erb file that was rendered as js the first time... Any idea what i'm missing?

  I'm working in ASP.NET in an application where often users want to add fields or change field names. I'd like to be able to have an xml schema in place that is parsed and a dynamic object model created from it that can be accessed throughout the application. My initial reaction is that this is not realistic. I think there is flexibility about the dynamic nature of it. I think the people I'm trying to build this for wouldn't mind recompiling. Even if the app recompiled, I don't know how to abstract away enough in my code access the data to allow for users changing property names, etc. How can you write LINQ when the properties might change? In short, there's two questions here: 1) is there a way to dynamically generate an object model of the database and 2) is there a way to abstract away enough so that code accessing the database doesn't break when properties change?

• Adding fields to a proxied class in Clojure

  I'm using "proxy" to extend various Swing classes in a Clojure GUI application, generally with code that looks something like: (def ^JPanel mypanel (proxy [JPanel] [] (paintComponent [#^Graphics g] (.drawImage g background-image 0 0 nil)))) This works well but I can't figure out how to add additional fields to the newly extended class, for example making the background-image a field that could be subsequently updated. This would be pretty easy and common practice in Java. Is there a good way to do this in Clojure? Or is there another preferred method to achieve the same effect?

• Solr 'text' fields not accepting wild-cards

  Hi, I am trying to search on a field declared as 'text' using the wildcard '*' but am getting mixed results. Basically, it seems to me that it's stripping off the '*' character and isn't handling numbers or spaces well. I'm using the 'text' field type for case insensitive fields but after running an analysis, am starting to think itmight be the wrong type to use as it runs a lot more filters when compared with the string field. Basically all I want is a field type that can index or search on lowercase only with spaces stripped out (and works with wildcards). Is such a type available? Thanks MARCO

  Hello, I have been using xVal with success for a while but this evening ran into an issue where a field containing a period would not be validated (client or server-side). I am using ASP.NET MVC2 and need to use the period syntax in cases where I am model binding to a list. In the below example I am using a textbox for the sake of simplicity: xVal.AttachValidator(null, { "Fields": [{ "FieldName": "entry[622592].Value", "FieldRules": [{ "RuleName": "Required", "RuleParameters": {}}]}] }, {}) <input type="text" class="text" name="entry[622592].Value"/> If I replace both instances of "entry[622592].Value" to something trivial like "test" then the validation works successfully, but if i leave it this way the validation never appears to fire...   I have 2 tables. To simplify: Table 1, users: userId int, userName nvarchar(50) Table 2 , messages: msgId int, msgFrom int, msgTo int... msg1 and msg2, both contain userId. Now I want to get all messages, but instead of the msgFrom I want the user name. I know what to do here: select tabMessages.*, tabUsers.userName as Sender from tabMessages inner join tabUsers on msgFrom=userId where msgId = @someParameter; Everything works fine and dandy. The same to get the user name instead of msgTo. Now the problem is, how do I do to get BOTH fields in the same call? I want to get the table as msgId, msgFrom, msgTo, Sender, Recipient. I have tried as: select tabMessages.*, tabUsers.userName as Sender, tabUsers.userName as Recipient from tabMessages inner join tabUsers on msgFrom=userId and msgTo=userId where msgId = @someParameter; but that doesn't work. I'm using Ms sql2000 by the way.

  I am the create_user() function that Django provides to create my users. Also I want to store additional information about the users. So I tried following the instructions given at http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/topics/auth/#storing-additional-information-about-users but I cannot get it to work for me. Is there a step-by-step guide that I can follow to get this to work for me? Also, once I have added these custom fields, I would obviously need to add / edit / delete data from them. I cannot seem to find any instructions on how to do this.

So I'm doing the Sorting & Paging in the code behind. <asp:GridView ID="SystemsDetailList" runat="server" AllowSorting="true" AllowPaging="true" AutoGenerateColumns="False" ShowFooter="True" OnPageIndexChanging="gridView_PageIndexChanging" OnSorting="gridView_Sorting"> For an important title column I have a SortExpression with 2 fields: SortExpression="FunctionalAreaDisplayCode, EswbsDisplayCode" This in the code behind: protected void gridView_Sorting(object sender, GridViewSortEventArgs e) { BindSystemList(e.SortExpression, sortOrder); } public string sortOrder { get { if (ViewState["sortOrder"].ToString() == "desc") { ViewState["sortOrder"] = "asc"; } else { ViewState["sortOrder"] = "desc"; } return ViewState["sortOrder"].ToString(); } set { ViewState["sortOrder"] = value; } } For some reason it will keep "FunctionalAreaDisplayCode" always sorted ASC but the EswbsDisplayCode works fine as it flips between ASC and DESC correctly. and tips here? thanks!

• How do I set Internet Explorer 64-bit as my default browser?

  Windows Vista x64. It defaults to IE 32-bit, and will not allow me to set 64-bit as the default with the "Make Default" button. I'm currently forced to workaround by starting IE 64-bit manually, and leaving it up with an empty window. Then when links are fired from apps, they open in that 64-bit version. Problem being is that sometimes I forget and get a bunch of stuff opened in 32-bit without realizing it. Then I have to remember all the links I clicked, close ALL of them, open IE 64-bit, and put them all back in. Trying to avoid all that re-work when I forget to do the workaround. Unfortunately, all the forums I've googled that discuss this just have a bunch of people saying "don't do that" and "you don't want to do that". Yes, I do want to do this. The particular feature I use only works right in my 64-bit version, and I don't use 32-bit plugins. I fully understand the implications of what I'm doing. :-)

  I am currently trying to make yoast's link cloaking script ( Yoast.com script manual // Github Script files ) work together with the Wordpress plugin Advanced Custom Fields. The script fetches 2 values (redirect id, redirect url) via GET and then redirects to this particular URL which is defined in a .txt file called redirects.txt I would like to change the script, so that I can define both the id and redirection URL via custom fields on each post in my WP dashboard.. I would be really happy if someone could help me to code something that does the same as the script above but without using a redirects.txt file to save the values but furthermore gets those values from custom fields. • How can I access profile fields with a % variable in Drupal Actions?

  I have an action setup in drupal to e-mail me when a new user registers for the site. Right now it is only telling me their user name (%username). Is there a variable that can access added fields so I can get their real name (First Last), or another way to add this info to the action message? So instead of my new user action having a message like: "%username created an account" - "jschmoe created and account" I could have: "%first_name %last_name (%username) created an account" - "Joe Schmoe (jschmoe) created an account". I'm using Content Profile module for the first and last name fields, though have few enough users at the moment that I could switch to Profile module fields.

Now I am trying to create a war of the same code and deploy it in Tomcat7 and call the api using a servlet. • Breakpoints are ignored when debugging in Visual Studio 2008 on 64-bit system

  I'm trying to debug an ASP.NET web application in this environment: Windows Server Standard 2008 SP2 x64 Single-core CPU 4GB RAM Visual Studio 2008 with Remote Debugger SP1 .NET 3.5 Web Application running in IIS in 64-bit mode The code I am trying to debug is a simple event handler with some basic sequential code. What I observe is that breakpoints get randomly ignored and VS often exits debug mode when I try to step through the code. The code is compiled in debug mode. I've tried all the usual steps: iisreset, reboot VM, rebuild solution, reinstall Visual Studio. Any ideas?

• determine if parity bit representation in MIPS

  Is there some instruction in MIPS that will determine the parity of a certain bit representation? I know to determine whether a "number" has an even parity or an odd parity is to XOR the individual bits of the binary representation together, but that seems computationally-intensive for a set of MIPS instructions... and I need to do this as quick as possible. Also, the number I'm working in is represented in Grey Code... just to throw that in there. So is there some pseudo-instruction in MIPS to determine the parity of a "number" or do I have to do it by hand? Thanks, Hristo

• OPOS not working on 64 bit system

  Anyone have experience with OPOS? I can't get my app to recognize the LDNs for the devices running on a 64 bit machine. I've got down to the point where I know that the OleforRetail stuff is now under Wow6432Node in the Registry. I suspect the common controls can't find the LDN because of this. Is there any kind of workaround? Failing that, is there a centralized OPOS development forum somewhere? BTW: I work with the common controls supplied by Monroe Consulting. Thanks!

• DBD::Advantage and 64-bit Perl - Always 6060

  I realize that I am attempting to go beyond the "supported" behavior of the manf's released drivers for perl, after all they have only released it in package with x86 .so's. However, since I cannot use their package with x64 Perl on a RHEL 5.4 x86_64 box, and maintaining a seperate install of x86 perl just for this one package, I have made an attempt to get this puppy working thanks to released 64-bit .so's that accompany other driver packages for Advantage. What I have done to this point: download beta 10 DBI drivers, in 32 download beta 10 PHP extension (it contains 32 and x86_64) copy the required DLLs into the ads-lib location (eg /usr/local/ads/lib64) compile the Perl DBI driver with the path to the lib64's .so's Good compilation, good install, good use. The problem is that I always get : failed: [iAnywhere Solutions][Advantage SQL][ASA] Error 6060: Advantage Database Server not available on specified server. axServerConnect (SQL-HY000)(DBD: db_login/SQLConnect err=-1) Does anyone have any ideas?
