    Diagram.net is good diagramming tool. I need to understand what design patterns are used by this tool so that I can understand how it works. What design patterns are used in this tool? What design patterns are generally used for diagramming tools? I would also like to know how can I use this to develop very simple diagramming tool (Only rectangular nodes and straight links). NOTE/Caution: I am doing this for FUN so please don't direct me to existing tools(I might down vote.. just kiddin ;).

  • Can I store SQL Server sort order in a variable?

    I have the following SQL within a stored procedure. Is there a way to remove the IF statement and pass the 'ASC'/'DESC' option as a variable? I know I could do the query a number of different ways, or return a table and sort it externally etc. I would just like to know if I can avoid duplicating the CASE statement.     I'm looking for some tools for testing vim scripts. Either vim scripts that do unit/functional testing, or classes for some other library (eg Python's unittest module) that make it convenient to run vim with parameters that cause it to do some tests on its environment, and determine from the output whether or not a given test passed. I'm aware of a couple of vim scripts that do unit testing, but they're sort of vaguely documented and may or may not actually be useful: vim-unit: purports "To provide vim scripts with a simple unit testing framework and tools" first and only version (v0.1) was released in 2004 documentation doesn't mention whether or not it works reliably, other than to state that it is "fare [sic] from finished". unit-test.vim: This one also seems pretty experimental, and may not be particularly reliable. May have been abandoned or back-shelved: last commit was in 2009-11 ( 6 months ago) No tagged revisions have been created (ie no releases) So information from people who are using one of those two existent modules, and/or links to other, more clearly usable, options, are very welcome.

  • Best tools / formats for documenting XML API?

    We are developing XML over HTTP service and we need a way to document the XML interface. Our supported XMLs generally are subsets of some industry standard XML API, which unfortunately lacks any good documentation. It has XSDs though with some annotations, so we use this go generate the initial documentation and then remove the unsupported parts and refine the result. But this process is tedious and the results aren't at all great. Any suggestion about documentation formats and tools? I prefer to have HTML output and possibly more, e.g. PDF. Oh, and we are mixed Linux and Windows shop, so the tools should work well on both.

  • Issue with Visual C++ 2010 (Express) External Tools command

    I posted this on SuperUser...but I was hoping the pros here at SO might have a good idea about how to fix this as well.... Normally we develop in VS 2005 Pro, but I wanted to give VS 2010 a spin. We have custom build tools based off of GNU make tools that are called when creating an executable. This is the error that I see whenever I call my external tool: ...\gnu\make.exe): * couldn't commit memory for cygwin heap, Win32 error 487 The caveat is that it still works perfectly fine in VS2005, as well as being called straight from the command line. Also, my external tool is setup exactly the same as in VS 2005. Is there some setting somewhere that could cause this error to be thrown?

  • Deciphering Encoding: Packet Analyzation Tools

    I am looking for better tools than wireshark for this. The problem with wireshark is that it does not format the data layer (which is the only part I am looking at) cleanly for me to compare the different packets and attempt to understand the third party encoding (which is closed source). Specifically, what are some good tools for viewing data, and not tcp/udp header information? Particularly, a tool that formats the data for comparison. To be very specific: I would like a program that compares multiple (not just 2) files in hex.

  • Is there programming language with better approach for switch's break statements ?

    It's the same syntax in a way too many languages: switch (someValue) { case OPTION_ONE: case OPTION_LIKE_ONE: case OPTION_ONE_SIMILAR: doSomeStuff1(); break; // EXIT the switch case OPTION_TWO_WITH_PRE_ACTION: doPreActionStuff2(); // the default is to CONTINUE to next case case OPTION_TWO: doSomeStuff2(); break; // EXIT the switch case OPTION_THREE: doSomeStuff3(); break; // EXIT the switch } Now all you know that break statements are required, because the switch will continue to the next case when break statement is missing. We have an example of that with OPTION_LIKE_ONE, OPTION_ONE_SIMILAR and OPTION_TWO_WITH_PRE_ACTION. The problem is that we only need this "skip to next case" very very very rarely. And very often we put break at the end of case. It very easy for a beginner to forget about it.     Hi all, i have two webapps.. that share ASP.Net membership tables. Everything works fine except i cannot remove case-sensitivity in one of the apps the way i am doing it in the other. in the non-working app void Login1_LoggingIn(object sender, LoginCancelEventArgs e) { string username = Login1.UserName.Trim(); if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(username)) { MembershipUser user = Membership.GetUser(username); if (user != null) { // Only adjust the UserName if the password is correct. This is more secure // so a hacker can't find valid usernames if we adjust the case of mis-cased // usernames with incorrect passwords. string password = Login1.Password.ToUpper(); if (Membership.ValidateUser(user.UserName, password)) { Login1.UserName = user.UserName; } } } } is not working. the password is stored as all upper case. Converted at the time the membership user is created! So if the password is PASSWORD, typing PASSWORD allows me to authenticate. but typing password does not! Even though i can see the string being sent is PASSWORD (converted with toUpper()). I am at a complete loss on this.. in the other app i can type in lower or upper or mixed and i am able to authenticate. In the other app i am not using the textboxes from the login control though.. not sure if this is making the difference??

  • C++: Case statement within while loop?

    I just started C++ but have some prior knowledge to other languages (vb awhile back unfortunately), but have an odd predicament. I disliked using so many IF statements and wanted to use switch/cases as it seemed cleaner, and I wanted to get in the practice.. But.. Lets say I have the following scenario (theorietical code): while(1) { //Loop can be conditional or 1, I use it alot, for example in my game char something; std::cout << "Enter something\n -->"; std::cin >> something; //Switch to read "something" switch(something) { case 'a': cout << "You entered A, which is correct"; break; case 'b': cout << "..."; break; } } And that's my problem. Lets say I wanted to exit the WHILE loop, It'd require two break statements? This obviously looks wrong: case 'a': cout << "You entered A, which is correct"; break; break; So can I only do an IF statement on the 'a' to use break;? Am I missing something really simple? This would solve a lot of my problems that I have right now.

  • Rendering sub tools on vertical toolbar

    I was wondering how ex Photoshop and Expression Design render sub tools. These show up when for example you hold your mouse down on the fill tool, a sub menu comes up to your right with the fill and gradient tools. I'm just not sure how to go about this because this sub menu would essentially have to be an extension of my toolbar, but then it would find itself on my Frame control. How is this handled? Would it be a good idea to just paint on my frame?

The case has wires for - Power SW - Reset SW - Power LED - HDD LED On the motherboard (ASUS M2NPV-VM) it is clearly labeled where these go, but I cannot remember where the black wire for each goes versus the colored wire? I don't want to put it backwards, wont I blow the motherboard?

  • How to Route Traffic in Case PPTP Remote Client is on Same Subnet as Server

    I've a PPTP server setup on my local home network (192.168.1.0/24, pfSense). Now sometimes when I'm away and want to connect remotely my client (Windows 7) is also on the same network because e.g. the hotel has set it up the same way. Thus the connection works, but I can't reach any PC on my home network because everything is routed directly to the client local router which is in the same subnet. Is there a way to work around this by messing with a configuration or adapting Windows routing table, i.e. without modifying either network?

    Is it possible to require IPSEC on a port range ? I want to require IPSEC for all incoming connections except a few public ports like 80 and 443, but don't want to restrict outgoing connections. My SPD rules would look like: spdadd 0.0.0.0/0 0.0.0.0/0[80] tcp -P in none; spdadd 0.0.0.0/0 0.0.0.0/0[443] tcp -P in none; spdadd 0.0.0.0/0 0.0.0.0/0[0....32767] tcp -P in esp/require/transport; In setkey manpage I see IP ranges, but no mention of port ranges. (The idea is to use IPSEC as a sort of VPN to protect internal communications between multiple servers. Instead of configuring permissions basing on source IPs, or configuring specific ports, I want to demand IPSEC on anything which is not meant to be public - I feel it's less error-prone this way.)

I can do so if I use virt-manager or some form of graphical tool, but I'm not really familiar with all of the command line material. I also cant really find a good tutorial on it, as most sites say to use the graphical stuff. My question is, for a position like this is my understanding satisfactory to apply?
