• Need help debugging a huge chunk of JSON data...

  I have a huge chunk, so large that I can't manually edit the file and need to read it in and do regex operations to see what's wrong. Basically - my server is PHP 5.1.6 and I can't update it.   I was just thinking, which is always dangerous. We use Valums Image uploader. Aside from that, I am looking for an inline image editor, but with a difference. User uploads an image ( lets say 800 x 600 ) Our system wants to see the image ( 170 x 32 ) now I know we can use php to resize images. But I was thinking, does anyone know of a system, where we can display the image, and user can scale, and crop image ( with say a predefined overlay ) By that they scale down to nearest acceptable size, and then click crop tool, which shows a div overlay with say 70% transparency that they can drag over the image, and then click crop. So image is cropped to exact size we need, then can save . I am sure I have seen some jquery stuff done like this, just cannot for life of me find it. Essentialy, we would like to offer a simple client side image processor, thats lightweight, and then the ability to save what they did . Sorry no code to show, as its more of a request. Regards

  I have a list of objects and each of those has a title, name, description, latitude, longitude and address. Is it possible to show this objects as MKAnnotations? I've been stuck with this for hours now. • iPad search bar bad memory access?

  Hello all, So I am trying to implement a search bar in my app and am very close but can't seem to figure out where this memory error is occurring. This is what part of my search method looks like: filters = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; NSString *searchText = detailSearch.text; NSMutableArray *searchArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; // Normally holds the object (ex: 70 locations) searchArray = self.copyOfFilters ; //This is the line that is breaking after ~2-3 letters are entered in the search for (NSString *sTemp in searchArray) { NSRange titleResultsRange = [sTemp rangeOfString:searchText options:NSCaseInsensitiveSearch]; if (titleResultsRange.length > 0) [filters addObject:sTemp]; } displayedFilters = filters; copyOfFilters is a deep copy of the displayed filters that appear when the view first loads via: self.copyOfFilters = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithArray:displayedFilters copyItems:YES]; I have traced through the entry of letters and it is accurate after 2 letters, but once you try and enter a letter after a space in the search bar, it crashes. The value of copyOfFilters = {(int)[$VAR count]} objects. Does anyone know what may be causing this? Thanks!

  Hi, I have a dictionary with around 1 milions items. I am constantly looping throw the dictionnary : public void DoAllJobs() { foreach (KeyValuePair<uint, BusinessObject> p in _dictionnary) { if(p.Value.MustDoJob) p.Value.DoJob(); } } The execution is a bit long, around 600 ms, I would like to deacrese it. Here is the contraints : MustDoJob values mostly stay the same beetween two calls to DoAllJobs() 60-70% of the MustDoJob values == false From time to times MustDoJob change for 200 000 pairs. Some p.Value.DoJob() can not be computed at the same time (COM object call) Here, I do not need the key part of the _dictionnary objet but I really do need it somewhere else I wanted to do the following : Parallelizes but I am not sure is going to be effective due to 4. Sorts the dictionnary since 1. and 2. (and stop want I find the first MustDoJob == false) but I am wondering what 3. would result in I did not implement any of the previous ideas since it could be a lot of job and I would like to investigate others options before. So...any ideas ?

• Sockets and COBOL

  I have received a job at a hospital which still uses COBOL for all organizational work, the whole (now 20 Terabyte) database (Which was a homebrew in, guess what, COBOL) is filled with the data of every patient since the last 45 (or so) years. So that was my story. Now to my question: Currently, all sockets were (from what I've seen) implemented by COBOL programs writing their data into files. These files then were read out by C++ programs (That was an additional module added in the late 1980s) and using C++ sockets sent to the database. Now this solution has stopped working as they are moving the database from COBOL to COBOL, yes - they didn't use MySQL or so - they implemented a new database - again in COBOL. I asked the guy that worked there before me (hes around 70 now) why the hell someone would do that and he told me that he is so good at COBOL that he doesn't want to write it in any other language. So far so good now my question: How can I implement socket connections in COBOL? I need to create an interface to the external COBOL database located at, for example, 192.168.1.23:283.

• DateChooser is behaving strangely

  I'm writing a Flex application and I came across what I think is a weird problem. I want to create a text box and a DateChooser as the datefield didn't do what I wanted and it's Halo so I can't skin it easily. I want the DateChooser to show when I click on the text input. Here is an except from my code: <s:TextInput id="wholeDate" width="100" mouseOver="stopChangeToNormal();" paddingRight="10" click="date1.visible = true" focusOut="date1.visible = false"/> <s:Button label="Go" width="70" /> </s:Panel> <mx:DateChooser id="date1" visible = "false" change="useDate(event);" mouseOver="changeToNormalState = false;" y="{wholeDate.y + buttonsGroup.y + 20}" x="{wholeDate.x + buttonsGroup.x - 175 }" /> The weird thing is that it works as I wanted if I make it visible = "true" to start but if I have it visible="false" it doesn't work! It shows but the date I select doesn't show in the box as it does if I have it as visible="true", but I don't want it to be visible initially. Any ideas?

• How do you send email from IMAP account with PHP?

  I'm having an issue sending email via PHP/IMAP - and I don't know if it's because: I don't correctly understand IMAP, or there's an issue with my server My application opens an IMAP connection to an email account to read messages in the inbox. It does this successfully. The problem I have is that I want to send messages from this account and have them display in the outbox/sent folder. As far as I can tell, the PHP imap_mail() function doesn't in any way hook into the IMAP stream I currently have open. My code executes without throwing an error. However, the email never arrives to the recipient and never displays in my sent folder. private function createHeaders() { return "MIME-Version: 1.0" . "\r\n" .   Hi All, I have written a word game using HTML5 canvas tag and a little bit of audio. I developed the application on the chrome web browser on a linux system. Recently during the testing phase it was tried on safari 5.0.3 on Mac and the webpage froze. Not just the canvas element, but interactive element on the page froze. I have at some times experienced this problem on google chrome when I was developing but since the console did not throw any error before this happened, I did not give it much credence. Now as per requirements I am supposed to support both chrome and safari but this dismal performance on safari has left me shocked and I cannot see what error can be thrown which might lead to such a situation. Worse yet the CPU usage on using this application peaks to 70-80percent on my 2yr old macbook running ubuntu... I can only but pity the person who uses mac to operate this app, which undoubtedly is a heavier OS. Could someone help me out with a place I can start with to find out what exactly is causing this issue. I have run profiles on this webapp on google chromes console and noticed that in the heap spanshot value increases steadily with the playing of the game, specifically (root) value which jumps up by 900 counts. Any help would be very appreciated! Thanks EDIT: I don't know if this helps, but I have noticed that even on refreshing the page after the app becomes unresponsive the page reloads and I am still not able to interact with the page elements but the tab scroll bar continues to work and I can see my application window completely. So to summaries the tab stops accepting any sort of user interaction inside the page. Edit2: Nop. It doesn't work still... The app crashes on double click on the canvas element. The console is not throwing any errors either! =/ I have noticed this problem is isolated only to safari!

• How to identify end of InputStream in java

  I am trying to read bytes from server using Socket program, ie I am using InputStream to read the bytes. If I pass the length size I am able to read the bytes, but I am not sure what may be the length. So I am not able initialize the byte array. Also I tried while (in.read() !=-1), I observered it loop works fine when the data is sent , but the next line after the loop is not executable , I feel its still looking for the data in the stream but there is no ata. If I close the Server connection , then my client will execute the next line followed to the loop. • Windows Server 2008: specifying the default IP address when NIC has multiple addresses

  I have a Windows Server which has ~10 IP addresses statically bound. The problem is I don't know how to specify the default IP address. Sometimes when I assign a new address to the NIC, the default IP address changes with the last IP entered in the advanced IP configuration on the NIC. This has the effect (since I use NAT) that the outgoing public IP changes too. Even though this problem is currently on Windows Server 2008 How can you set the default IP address on a NIC when it has multiple IP addresses bound? There is more explication on my probleme. • No network upsets gnome

  An issue that has been bothering me for over a year now. My notebook, running ubuntu 10.04, is almost all the time using a wired connection, with static IP address. And a remote DNS server. Network is configured with entries in /etc/network/interfaces and /etc/resolv.conf, rather than whatever the gnome UI tool was (*) But if I'm out, or simply unplug the network cable, a few things get weird. Specifically the gnome-panel stops working - it is still there, but isn't updating. And opening a nautilus window (e.g. to look at files on the local disk) has huge time-outs. By that I mean it will not open the window for something like 30 or 60 seconds; but when it does finally open it I can see the files and it is perfectly usable. Everything else works fine, alt-tab between windows, etc. I use the commandline to find the pid of gnome-panel, kill it, wait a couple of seconds, and it opens up a fresh panel which is normally usable. (Something like 10 minutes later it will have locked/crashed again; the same for the nautilus windows.) I'm guessing this is a DNS issue? Would setting up a local DNS server help? Guess number 2 was related to having a file server mount (samba, though running on another linux box), and symbolic links to files and directories on that file server on my desktop. My question is a bit vague... Does anyone recognize these symptoms, and have a suggestion? Or do you have some troubleshooting suggestions for narrowing down the problem? This time it took 18 seconds to open up, but then 70 seconds before anything appeared. *: I couldn't work out how to use the gnome network tool for my needs, which include 3-4 static IPs for testing virtual hosts locally.
